I honestly didn't think anyone would like this story, and I thank and really do appreciate that you did, I'll try to not disappoint. it's going to be relatively short a chapter or two more, but anyways let's get to it.
I don't own gravity falls or evangelion.
Shinji and Asuka found themselves in what seemed to a Gift shop for a strange assortment of items. Asuka stood there bored looking through and examining the antiques one by one, whilst Shinji kept reading through the dictionary practicing his pronunciation.
Meanwhile Dipper was on the phone trying to get a hold of his Uncle Stanford, but that was to no avail.
"My fault for thinking that they'd have a phone on a boat." Dipper said putting the landline down. "yeah, that was a dumb move bro." Mabel agreed.
Dipper then went into Fords room to look for something that could help him get a head start into solving this mystery, he even searched stans office hoping to maybe stumble upon...something, but yet again this was to no avail.
Asuka watched from the other room as Dipper and Mabel ran around the Mystery shack like crazy people, searching and searching.
"These are the professionals that are supposed to help us huh?" Asuka said sarcastically.
Pacifica waited in the doorframe concerned, "Oh god." She said wearily. "We're screwed aren't we." Asuka said
"What? What she say?" Dipper asked as he was passing by.
"Nothing." Pacifica said pushing him into the other room "She didn't say anything." she said closing the door.
"What? What is it Pacifica, I gotta look around, Ineedtofindsomethingthatcanhelp-"
"Stop." She said cutting him off, "Okay but-"
"No, shush." she cut him off again "Dipper. I need you to relax."
"I am relaxed." he said
"No you're tense and excited, and a little sweaty."
"Just breath with me okay?" she said.
"I'm good Pacifica, I'm good."
"Well then...Good." Pacifica said
"It's just, I don't know where to even start or look. Back then I always had some edge something I could hold unto to help solve these mysteries. But now…"
"Now it's time to think on your own two feet." She said
"I've always done that." Dipper said, "not from the get-go." She replied
"Well I mean technically-"
"What matters is what we do now. So instead of searching around this place that I'm sure you know every nook and cranny off by now, let's ask them." she said pointing towards the strange pair in the gift shop.
"what do you mean?" Dipper asked
"Y'know." Pacifica said "ask them what they know, interrogate them, cross reference their information with what you know and…detective stuff."
Dipper laughed a little, "Is that what you think we did back then?"
"isn't it?" she asked
"We more had wacky adventures and followed the breadcrumb trail really. Still required a bit of investigative skill. "
"Well now we're taking a more traditional approach."
"Alright." he said, looking around noticing "Where's Mabel?" he asked
"I don'r know, she just disappeared…I'm sure she'll be fine." Pacifica hurried over to the living room.
They called in Asuka and Shinji into the living room, sat them down on the couch as they sit on the opposite side.
"Can you tell me what you remember?" Dipper asked Asuka.
"what do you mean?" she asked
"How did you guys get here? y'know by Magic or a portal?"
"I feel like we've had this conversation before." Asuka says
"Not like this, just, can you at least try to remember…something, anything."
"I'm sorry but it's all a blur." Asuka said to him " I don't remember anything much past the point that we woke up in a forest near a lake."
"a lake? as in Gravity Falls Lake?" he asked,
"I think so." Asuka answered
"So you just woke up, on the open land just like that?" Pacifica asked
"Basically." Asuka answered her.
"Maybe they washed up from that island on the lake. What's it called?" Pacifica asked
"Scuttlebutt." Dipper said.
"Nani ga…eya…What's a scuttlebutt?" Shinji asked in his attempt to speak English.
"It's an island off in the middle of Lake Gravity Falls." Dipper said "I haven't been there in a very long time, so…"
"So maybe there's something worth looking for there?" Pacifica suggested.
"Maybe?" he said,
"Can't hurt anybody to look right?" Pacifica spoke again swinging her keys.
"I don't see why not." Dipper said
"Great. I'll take us there." she said standing up.
"Okay but Seriously where did Mabel go?" Dipper asked concerned.
"She's a big girl she can take care of herself." Pacifica said
"Yeah but I'm still worried."
"I get it she's your sister, but Mabel's tough. She can handle it."
"Words of approval for Mabel, coming from you?" he said in disbelief, "Now i know something's wrong."
"Just trust me okay. she's going to be fine."
"Hey lovebirds What happens to us, we just wait here while you two do you little investigation? " Asuka said.
"You're welcome to the shack until Soos comes back." Dipper says.
"Who's that?"she asked
"the owner of this place…" dipper answered, "just tell him you're with us." He said as he closed the door.
"wow okay." Asuka said
Mabel had actually snuck out during the commotion and went to search the inner town for maybe a hint of the strangers origins. She actually didn't come about anything until the townsfolk told her about a mysterious blue haired girl, who'd been asking around for a pair of pilots.
"You think they're pilots?" Mabel asked Grenda and Candy.
"I don't know, they didn't look like the type to fly jets and airplanes."
"Maybe their Navy Pilots." Candy said,
"like submarines and such?" Mabel asked
"Yes but, they'd still be too young to do that."
"This blue haired girl that everyone is talking about, if we can find her maybe we can get some answers."
So they went looking and looking. Searching the town once more until they approached Lake gravity falls and saw dipper along with Pacifica taking a boat towards scuttlebutt island.
"It looks like dipper got a lead first." Candy said, "God dang it." Grenda expressed.
"Hold on Girls." Mabel stopped them "Dipper just might've missed a crucial bit of information." She said pointing at the edge of the lake on the far right. Squinting their eyes, Grenda and Candy saw.
"that looks like-"
"a blue haired girl in school uniform."
"Bingo." Mabel said "And we're going to get to her first."
Dipper and Pacifica had taken a small boat to Scuttlebutt island. No matter what season of the weather, this area around this particular island always seemed to be foggy, clear covered in mist.
"It really hasn't changed much." Dipper said
"Nothing much ever changes around here." Pacifica says
"at least there's a sense of permanence." Dipper mentioned
"You mean stagnation." Pacifica countered. The boat hit mainland, and they both got off, wasting no time getting into the island
"This place is small." Pacifica said.
"We should be able to cover the whole area In about 10 minutes I think."
"what exactly are we looking for?" Pacifica asked
"Anything out of the ordinary." Dipper answered her "If it gives off weird otherworldly vibes then you probably found it."
"Fine then, I'll take the left"
"And me the right." Dipper said.
Dipper had left no stone unturned, but still came about nothing, but It didn't take a while before Pacifica landed upon something and called out to him.
"Dipper!" she yelled.
"Yeah!" he answered, "You need to come see this!"
Hurrying over to Pacifica's location, What he saw when he arrived there was a giant red cross inflicted unto the ground. This was in the middle of the island, and the cross seemed to be growing, slowly from within, emitting strange particles of dust and light. Dipper came closer to the open gab and hovered his hand above it. the particles coming from the ground hardened upon contact with his skin.
"is that even safe?"Pacifica asked him.
Dipper then crushed the hardened dust off his hand causing in to fall back into the red mark.
"Maybe." Dipper said
"What do you mean maybe?" Pacifica asked concerned.
"Well I wouldn't want to breath in any of that stuff, and secondly I going to wait a little just to see if that I'll get any sicknesses from it."
"What are you? stupid?" she asked
"Why?" he asked unawares
"You could still die, who knows what sickness or disease you'll get from that thing, For all you know it's from another planet."
Dipper reflected on her words, but most importantly what he heard was another planet.
"Another planet." he asked
"Well yeah for all you know." Pacifica emphasized
"Interesting." He said pulling out a blank journal, after which he made a quick sketch of the crucifix like figure in the ground.
"It's looks like a cross but it's equal on all sides." Dipper said. "It's an equal armed cross...meaning it's Greek. The balance cross, the square cross, and the peaceful cross."
"Is it Christian?" Pacifica asked
"No this predates Christianity… the plus sign. Representing the four seasons of nature."
"How do you know this?" Pacifica said
"I read The Da Vinci Code." He answered
Pacifica rolled her eyes "Oh wow."
"Hey you asked." He teased
"Anyway." She said, "what does this have to do with our strangers."
"ell, as you said, this might be alien in nature, as in the extra-terrestrial kind."
"You're telling me Aliens a real."
"I Actually encountered some alien technology a while back."
"oh really?" Pacifica said doubtfully
"Weirdmageddon?" he said
"Okay fine but they don't look like E.T, they're human."
"oh they might not be, or maybe they forgot or maybe they don't know it themselves or maybe aliens brought them here and that's why they have no memory of it, at this point we don't know anything.."
"Either way." Pacifica took a picture of the open. "Maybe this'll jog their memory."
"we've seen all we came to see, I wanna get back to our visitors, I'm beginning to have some fun."
Dipper took a sample of the dust on a small plastic container he had in his pocket at the time.
Mabel and her friends approached Rei. Who had been standing at the spot where Asuka and Shinji woke up, noticed the foot tracks.
"They were here." She says, "Who was?" Mabel asked surprising Rei, but she did not react.
"And who are you?" Rei asked her.
"Mabel Pines." She said enthusiastically, "One Half of the mystery twins, and these are my friends Candy and Greta."
"Greetings." Rei said. They greeted her back,
"so we here that you've been looking for a pair of pilots."
"that is true." Rei answered
"what kind of pilots."
"Ikari and Soryu, they were fellow pilots with me."
"Short anime boy with brown hair and tall tsundere girl with red-auburn hair?" Greta asked
"You're mentioning anime a lot today" Candy said to Greta
"What? They look it."
"I believe that would be them yes." Rei answered her.
"what do you guys pilot anyway?" Mabel asked, "you are way too young to pilot any aircraft carriers or a sub."
"We used to pilot evangelion…Artificial human evangelion." She said
"artificial what?" Mabel asked, "You would pilot…people?" Candy asked
"Not necessarily, they were somewhat mechanized and plated with armor."
"So a mecha?" Grenda asked
"Somewhat." Rei shrugged in her manner of expression, which is no expression at all.
"Do you want me to say it?" Grenda asked
"keep quiet you." Mabel said, "evangelion…I feel like…it sounds familiar."
"Can you take me to them?" Rei asked,
"Yeah." Mabel answered "They should still be at the mystery shack."
"come on, dipper's got to hear this." She said, leading Rei back with them.
As Dipper and Pacifica were riding back, he couldn't help but think about that cross like figure in the ground, it looked so familiar.
They had just finished stowing the boat when they saw Mabel and her friends walk back with another unfamiliar face.
"Mabel!" Dipper yelled.
She looked back and waved at him. When they caught up to them dipper asked
"A new friend I see." he said
"Rei, Rei Ayanami." She greeted
"nice to meet you Rei." Dipper said
"Same." Pacifica waved her hand.
"I am told you know the location of Pilots Ikari and Soryu."
"Yeah but, I didn't know they were pilots." Dipper said
"You'll never guess what they Pilot." Mabel whispered to them
"what, aircraft carriers? they'd be too young though."
"They pilot Mechs!" Grenda said
"Oh god." Pacifica facepalmed again.
"Wait what?" Dipper asked confused
"Artificial human Evangelion." Rei said.
"Artificial...like a human being?" Dipper asked
"Not exactly." Rei answered
"They're mechanized." Candy finished for her. Dipper paused to think about it for a while .
"so Grenda was right?" he said, "Thank you" Grenda said
"No, no." Pacifica said, "Mecha pilots? like Gundam?"
"What's a Gundam?" Rei asked with a hint of emotion in her voice
"It's like a Zaku II but stronger" Mabel said
"how dare you." Grenda protested
"Enough about Gundam guys." Dipper said, "evangeli-... I feel like I've heard that somewhere before."
"I know right." Mabel said.
"will you please take me to the pilots Ikari and Soryu." Rei said
"Yeah." Dipper said agreed, "we'll talk more about this on the way."
And so they head on back to the mystery shack.
Asuka had been watching the Television whilst Shinji was still practicing his English.
"How would you even pilot Gundam unit?" Asuka said "with so many switches, gears(Joysticks) and pedals…it's impossible."
"I mean, don't they pre programmed commands?" Shinji said
"Still there's the issue of navigation...especially in space where there's no sense of direction."
"isn't he a new type?" Shinji asked
"I don't even know what that means." Asuka said
"Aren't they adapt to this kind of environment especially?" Shinji pointed out again, "The newtypes"
"It's really more about the political aspect really." Asuka concluded
"I mean you still ignored-"
"whatever." she interrupted him, "You've been reading that dictionary all day, give It a break will you."
"Sorry Asuka but I want to be able to speak with people myself, can't always have you translating for me."
"This Soos guy still hasn't come back and it's already evening." she said "God dammit If only I could remember. Don't you remember anything?"
"Not a thing." Shinji answered.
It wasn't a while before Dipper and the gang came back, along with Rei. Shinji and Asuka were surprised at the sight.
"Ayanami." Shinji said getting up
"Wonder-Girl?" Asuka said
"Ha! wonder girl." Mabel said.
"Yes." She agreed, "It's been a while Shinji and Asuka."
"did you call us by our first names?"
but Rei just smiled and with the snap of her fingers Asuka and Shinji both fell unconscious. Everyone in the room backed away, and Rei looked towards them.
"I thank you Dipper and Pacifica." she bowed after which she lifted Shinji and Asuka with the wave of her hand.
"We'll be going home now." she said with an eerie smile.
