CHAPTER 13
Arriving at my mother's house I was surprised to see Edward waiting outside with Bella. Felix walked ahead of us to Edward as Demetri and I hung back.
"You are lucky Demetri found Cecilia when he did. You were given orders to protect her and this is the second time she was found alone and unprotected. Aro and Alec will hear of this."
Edward didn't get a chance to respond as Felix and Demetri left. I did feel better after watching Edward get an ass chewing but I wasn't going to leave the house again.
While Bella and Edward still had three weeks of school before they graduated, I was already on summer break so I got to relax around the house by myself.
One night Charlie was asleep on the couch while I was upstairs in my room listening to music when I heard movement from Bella's room. Groaning loudly as I rolled onto my back, I got up, making my way into Bella's room, pushing open Bella's door. I found her room empty but the window was open causing some papers on her desk to flutter with the wind. I frowned, Bella always keeps her window closed unless Edward was going to come visit but she was with him, so I went and closed the window before going down stairs. I checked on Charlie to see he was still asleep, peeking out the window I noticed Bella's truck wasn't in the driveway, meaning she wasn't home. I shook my head, I was just scaring myself. Going up stairs I went back to my bedroom to see my window was open. Before I could start to panic Edward came rushing into my room, sniffing the air.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Someone has been in Bella's and yours room. You both need to come with me."
Wordlessly I agreed, following along as Edward took Bella and I to his house and led us inside to wait while Emmett and Jasper went back to our house to try and track the scent the unknown person left behind. When they returned everyone gathered in the living room to discuss what was going on.
"I didn't recognize his scent."
"Maybe a passerby?"
"A passerby wouldn't have left Bella's father and Cecilia alive, especially with Cecilia walking around the house. Whoever it was went out of their way to remain unseen by Cecilia."
"Their scent disappeared about 5 miles south of their house."
"Someone is orchestrating this."
Fear started to rise up in me. This was becoming too real and dangerous and I don't think I can handle it. Soon they sent Bella and I home with Edward to stay with us and watch over us.
Over the next couple days I tried to have a normal life, free of supernatural things. Bella had introduced me to her friends and I disliked all of them except Angela, she seemed to be the only one that was real and genuine but I still hung out with all of them. Hearing my phone ring I rolled over in my bed and picked it up.
"Hey, so Jessica bailed on me last minute so I need someone to come with me. I'll be at your house in 5, so be ready."
"Ready for what, Lauren?"
"We are going out, and I'm not taking no for an answer."
Before I could reject her, she hung up on me. I groaned before deciding I would go, not wanting to be home alone anymore. Slipping my sneakers on, I headed downstairs to wait for Lauren.
I shouldn't have been shocked that Lauren took us straight to Seattle, and to the club district. Finding a parking spot down the road from the clubs, I could still hear the bass from the clubs from where I stood next to the car. I followed Lauren down the street to the first club on the block. The bouncer let us in without IDing us and didn't even raise an eyebrow at my hoodie and jeans as he was to busy eye fucking Lauren who wore a minishirt and tube top with heels.
Inside the club I tried to stick close to Lauren but was quickly separated from her by people jumping around, grinding on each other and doing other things that were not acceptable for the public. I gave up on staying with Lauren and made my way over to the bar and sat down, asking for water with a lid so no one could spike it. I instantly regretted coming and was about to pull my phone out and call my dad when I felt a pair of cold hands snake their way around my waist, pulling me to the back of the seat and straight into the chest of someone.
"Mi Amor, what are you doing in a place like this?"
I looked up to see the black eyes of none other than Alec staring down at me. I smiled up at him as Jane came into view also.
"I was brought here by a "friend," and she ditched me right at the door, so I'm here drinking water till I can leave."
"You're leaving now. Let's go."
Alec lifted me off the seat and placed me down on the ground, gently pushing me in the direction of the entrance.
"Wait out front for me. I won't be long."
