NOTE: I personally feel like Emi should've been more important in Legion Mate. Considering the fact that Aichi is her fucking brother and has known him longer than any of the others. Now of course that goes into the writers never adding much more to her character besides being "Aichi's little sister" and "Kamui's love interest". There's also Vanguard IF which made her the main protag, but she felt like a side-character to Kai and Ibuki. Like, I'm not asking that she should've been a main cast member from day 1, but for them to at least add substance to the young girl. This was just a rant of mine. I hope you enjoy this chapter and the things to come later in the story.
Also, do these chapters feel long enough for you guys? Or should I add more to them? Let me know.
I do not own Cardfight! Vanguard.
Chapter 5: Love
Misaki Tokura didn't know what to expect when she had entered Fukuhara with her two younger companions moments earlier. Learning that one of her close friends/teammates had vanished off the face of the planet had been a shocker to her. Feelings of regret welled up within her for being too caught up in her own misery to check up on her friends. However, she wasn't left with much time to dwell on those emotions as she was quickly dragged away by a speeding Asaka.
Arriving at the Assassin's private quarters had been a rough ride for the lilac teen as she was currently trying to regain her senses. The blue beauty in front of her opened the door to her room, grabbed Misaki's hand once more, and dragged her inside before Misaki could protest.
Asaka's room was dark purple with a circus aesthetic(Obviously) and images of Ren placed on the walls(Again. Obviously). Asaka sat down on her queen sized bed and motioned for Misaki to sit down next to her.
Misaki's eyes shifted around nervously, wondering what Asaka could possibly want. The assassin turned her head to stare Misaki directly in the eyes.
"What is love to you?"
"Huh?" Misaki blinked, confusedly at the question. She didn't understand what love had to do with this. Seeing the look of confusion, Asaka sighed with a bit of disappointment. "I'm asking if you love anyone?"
"Of course I love people. I love my friends and family," Misaki answered, a bit hotly.
"No, I'm asking if you LOVE anyone," Asaka shot back. Getting off of her bed with a huff, Asaka walked over to one of her Ren posters. "I love Ren, more than I love anyone or anything else. Meeting him changed my life for the better and gave me a purpose."
"Asaka…" Misaki released a short breath. She always knew Asaka carried feelings for Ren, but never knew her feelings ran this deep.
"W-when I watched him die, it was like watching another part of myself die with him. Ren completed my soul and when I was corrupted by the Reverse he told me that I was an important friend to him," Tears started to leak from Asaka's face. Misaki got up from the bed and rushed to Asaka's side to hold her. The blue beauty placed her face into Misaki's chest and continued to cry.
"H-he didn't return my feelings at all, b-but I still love him. I couldn't- I CAN'T stop loving him, Misaki. It hurt so much to hear him call me a friend, and it hurt even more for him to die in front of me," Asaka continued to cry in Misaki's arms. The lilac beauty stroked Asaka's bad to soothe her emotions.
"Love hurts, Misaki...it hurts to love someone and I know that I will always love Ren. I'd sell my entire soul just to be next to him again."
Misaki listened to her broken words and stood there silent. Just listening to Asaka's sobbing, before answering her question. "I'm not sure if I love someone as strongly as you do. I know that Kourin loves Aichi to her very core and is suffering greatly. But, I know how much it hurts to love those you've lost." Asaka nods her head at Misaki's words, and continues to cry softly. Misaki hugs her tighter as tears threaten to spill from her eyes now.
"We're all like a family more than anything in my eyes. Kamui, Morikawa, and Naoki were the loud enthusiastic little brothers. Izaki would be the one to keep Morikawa and Kamui from fighting too much, with a few threats from me time to time. Shingo and Naoki would constantly bicker like brothers every chance they got, but would make up just as quickly. Emi and Mai are the adorable little sisters who could win the hearts of anyone they meet. You couldn't help, but feel overprotective of the two of them. Miwa was like the twin brother I never had. He had the ability to let you know that everything would be ok when everyone else felt down. Even with his laid back and lazy attitude, he made me laugh whenever he could. He was the bright sun in all of our lives. Kourin was the twin sister I never had. Someone I could talk to without feeling awkward or embarrassed around. She made me feel that it was good to trust my own feelings and desires," Misaki explains, as she cries with every word. Asaka had long since stopped crying herself and was now embracing Misaki, allowing the lilac beauty to cry into her chest.
"Aichi was the little brother who would constantly follow Kai around. He and the other boys looked up to Kai as that strong older brother figure to turn to whenever things got bad. Shin is just the happy uncle who supported each and everyone of us, even if we never asked for his help. We were all a happy family," Misaki cried.
"Love hurts...love hurts more than anything else. But, love still gives you strength to keep moving. I love them all to keep moving forward for their sake. Asaka, you have to keep moving forward for Ren. I'm sure your love will reach him, no matter what." With that the two girls collapsed onto the floor and cried. Just crying and no words were spoken between the two anymore.
Their crying stopped when Misaki's phone started buzzing in her skirt pocket. Reaching into her pocket to pull out the phone, she saw that it was her uncle calling. Regaining her bearings enough, as to not let her uncle know she was crying again, Misaki answered the phone.
"Hello, Shin."
"Hey! Misaki, I need to come back to the shop for me," Shin said.
"Huh? What for? I need to help Emi, remember?" Misaki replied.
"I know and you can still do that, but I forgot to tell you about a situation that came up a few days ago. We're going to have someone else living with us and I need you to be here when he arrives. There's something I need to take care of in the meantime," Shin explained. Misaki furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Somebody else is going to be living with us? Shin, do I know who he is?" Misaki asked.
"Oh yeah! You met him years ago, his name is C-"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Misaki and Asaka's heads snapped towards the door in alarm at the loud scream that vibrated through the school. Misaki paled as the voice of the scream was all too familiar to her.
"Emi…" Misaki whispered.
"Misaki! What's wrong!?" Shin asked, concerned.
"I'll call you back," With that Misaki ended the call and ran out of the room with Asaka hot on her trails. The two young women arrived at the Fukuhara's CFV training area to find a sight that almost made Misaki breakdown all over again.
Rekka was kneeling on the floor, tears streaming down her face rapidly with an unconscious Emi Sendou in her arms. Rekka was screaming frantically hoping for Emi to wake up, but no matter what she did Emi remained unresponsive. She heard the approaching footsteps of Misaki and Asaka.
"SHE WON'T WAKE UP! EMI WON'T WAKE UP!" Rekka screamed at the top of her lungs. Misaki quickly embraced the screaming idol. Asaka turned to see Tetsu rush into the room. "What happened here!?" He notices the horrid state the girls are in. He runs over to them and kneels in front of the crying Rekka.
"Rekka! What happened!? Where's Ibuki!?" Tetsu asked her, grabbing her shoulders. Misaki pushed Tetsu away from Rekka. "Can't you see she's in distress!" She saw students beginning to approach the area. "The real matter at the moment is getting Emi somewhere private!"
Nodding his head, Tetsu picked up the unconscious girl and rushed her to the medical ward. Asaka looked back at the two, before following after Tetsu.
Misaki slowly looked towards Rekka. She lifted Rekka off the floor and into her arms. Carrying the small girl out of the area and towards the medical ward. "Rekka, what happened here?" She asked, softly. Rekka turned to her and opened her mouth, but quickly shut it as if remembering something traumatic. Instead all her voice held was tremendous regret.
"I...I wish we never came here to Fukuhara…"
