When word reached Solomon of the recent events that occurred, he rushed back to the bureau as fast as possible. Alastor and Charlie were both in the clinic being looked over by the bureau's best medical profession, Solomon was with them the whole time while Angel and Vaggie waited anxiously with Blitzo. After several hours of waiting, they were all relieved to learn that because of Alastor's demon half, he was not seriously hurt and would only require a few days rest. He wouldn't even need stitches. But as for Charlie, the doctor couldn't find anything wrong with her.

"Does she have a fever?" Solomon asked the doctor.

"No and I've taken her temperature three times. She's not dehydrated or malnourished. Did she eat anything unusual today?"

"Nothing she hasn't ingested plenty times before."

"Any known allergies?"

"No."

"Menstrual perhaps?"

"She's only ten years old."

"There are girls who start sooner than others."

"But blood would have been found on her."

"Then I'm not sure what my diagnosis is. Did anyone witness her fainting spell?"

At once Solomon called Blitzo into the room to relay what happened before Charlie blacked out.

"I don't know what caused it." He said. "One minute she was talking to me and then she zoned out."

"Zoned out how?" Solomon asked.

"I can't explain it. She just...She was staring at me but it looked like she was seeing something else. She started shaking, sweating, thought she was having a panic attack or something. Next thing I know she's on the floor, I hear screaming upstairs, and the other one is on the ground."

"Hold on a second. Are you saying that Charlie fainted at the exact moment Alastor was knocked out?"

"I don't know. I didn't see when he went into the dark."

"But if you had to estimate, they lost consciousness around the same time?"

"I guess."

Solomon suddenly became very quiet as a thought began to form in his mind. A thought that might have held the answer to the predicament they were in.

"Excuse me."

He left the clinic and went into the library. He moved very quickly and ran right past Husk who had returned from spying. He noticed the frantic look on Solomon's face and suspected trouble, so he followed him. Solomon had gone into the library and began to pull various books from the shelf until he stopped to grab one that was titled;

Angels and Demons, Different but not completely.

He opened up the book and scanned the index until he found a particular content then turned to the page number representing it. He read the page for five minutes before huffing out,

"No. No! No this shouldn't be possible!"

"What? What shouldn't be possible?" Husk asked.

Solomon just now noticed that he was followed.

"Husk what are you doing here?"

"I just got back. Didn't you see me?"

"Husk could you please leave?"

"Why?"

"I need to do some research. I need privacy."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"You look like me when I was in Nam and I realized that the enemy had the drop on us."

"I'm not- Wait a minute you served in the Vietnam war?"

"You don't know me my whole life. For your information I had a drinking buddy who moved to America and in the 1970's he asked me to enlist with him. I owed him a favor so why not?"

"But you're a demon. How did they get the drop on you?"

"Those Vietnamese had a shaman on their side. I didn't stand a chance." He said. "Anyway, what's got you spooked?"

"I'd rather not say. It could cause panic."

"Well you know Solomon, you may not believe it but I can keep a secret."

"I don't think so."

"Oh come on! After all these years, you still don't trust me?"

"No because you hate me."

"Okay." He admitted easily. "But I wouldn't do anything to you."

"Because you know I could have exorcised so fast you wouldn't be able to pray for your soul?"

"Oh don't flatter yourself, you're not that great at your job. I could have killed you with one swipe decades ago and God knows I've been tempted, but I promised Magdalene that I'd never hurt you."

Solomon looked at him surprised.

"You...You promised her?"

Husk let out a off.

"Don't go thinking I'm a softy for this but I cared a lot about Magdalene. She was the first person who ever gave a damn about me. Probably the only person in general."

"Is that right? You weren't even at her funeral."

"As if I was going let you religious ass holes see me in mourning." He replied. "And who do you think replaces the flowers on her grave every Sunday?"

"I have agents do that."

"I'm an agent aren't I?"

For a moment, Solomon looked extremely touched by these news.

"Oh Husk." He said. "I didn't know she meant that much to you."

"Don't dig too much into it, okay? I thought she was a good kid and that's all there is to it." He took a swig of booze. "Now that I've spilled some of my gutts, I think you should spill some of yours. What the hell is going on?"

Solomon took a breath of hesitation before answering.

"I'm worried that an empathetic link may have developed between Charlie and Alastor."

"An empa- A what? What is that?" Husk said.

"Well as you know Husk, my former partner Dominick Pentious, targeted Charlie and Alastor because a half human angel and half human demon were required to open the gates of hell but I wondered why that was and how it could have been accomplished. One of the reasons I discovered later on is that such beings can bond with each other, making it so that they can open the gates together."

"But how...How does that work?"

"You don't know? I thought a demon would know this stuff."

"I don't anything about half demons and I sure as hell don't know anything about angels or half angels. Now explain."

"Angels and demons are both of capable body possession. But because Charlie and Alastor are half human the closest that they can accomplish is an empathetic link."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning what one feels and senses, so does the other. Thereby bonding them. Charlie's soul connecting with Alastor's body. This evening Alastor fell off the roof and hit his head which was at the exact moment Charlie suddenly fainted. I fear that occurred because she felt his fall which can only happen if there's a link."

"I thought that only happened with twins or something like that? Blood relatives."

"That's how it's supposed to be. Pentious theorized that Lucifer and Beelzebub were brothers, both flesh created by the lord. That's why he specifically chose Lucifer's daughter and Beelzebub's son to fulfill his desire."

"So are Charlie and Alastor related or something?"

"No. It turns out while Lucifer rose from the morning star, Beelzebub came from the very depths of hell. No relation between them."

"What about the mothers? Could they have been sisters? Cousins?"

"Husk you know Magdalene never had any extended family and her parents died before they could have anymore children. She had no siblings and neither did her parents. But for extra measure, I ran a D.N.A test on Alastor and Charlie years ago. There was no genetic match. So why they ended up developing a link anyway, is a complete mystery to me."

"Well this thing sounds freaky as shit but I'm not seeing the big problem here. I thought you took care of that Pentious lunatic, years ago."

"Not exactly. He disappeared and we lost his trail. I don't know what he's up to nowadays but I wouldn't put it past him to pull that same ludicrous stunt again. If Charlie and Alastor aren't bonded then they're pretty much useless to him but if they are then all he need do now is corrupt them."

"If he was going to try it again, why hasn't he come for the kids yet? Wouldn't he try to capture them or something?"

"It wouldn't do any good for him to do it now. For one thing Charlie and Alastor's powers haven't fully matured yet. Their powers are still developing."

"So what now?"

"I need to take extra precaution. Make sure that no link is developed and if it already has then I need to somehow break it."

"Do we tell the kids about this?"

"Absolutely not. If they know about it, they'll think about it, and that will make the bond stronger. No one can know of this. Ever. Do you understand?"

"Okay but what are you going to tell the kids and the other agents?"

"I'll come up with something. Just keep quiet."

"Fine."

Solomon closed the book, put it away, and left the library. Husk took another sip of his drink and thought;

"Well that's another big secret I have to keep. But at least this one won't be as hard to keep as Magdalene's."
