Chapter 2

Getting to know each other

"We did it boys! Another day of workout success, and snow cones!" Skipper said.

"Snow cones!" Rico cheered.

"My favourite, blueberry!" Kowalski smiled. We all went our separate ways doing our own things. Skipper having mirror time, Kowalski in the lab, and Rico hanging out with his doll. I lay in my bunk just playing games on my phone until a notification came up. It was Polly.

"Hiya Private! how are you? Just checking in."

"Hi Polly. I''m doing alright."

"Are you busy?"

"No, my brothers and I just got back from getting snow cones."

"Oh yum! Did you get a strawberry by any chance?"

"I did actually! How did you know?"

"I love strawberry I just predict." She put a laughing emoji.

"Oh."

"I'm just watching the Lunacorns right now. Did you see the new episode?"

"Yeah I did. So adorable."

"Hehe, I love it when they have messages of strong meanings."

"Me too! My favourite one is, 'Skies are big and blue, stay you and stay true'!"

"My favourute is, 'Don't give up! Cheer up! If you get the work done, you will be number one!" I already loved where this was going. I made a new friend. Even though she is human, I still had access to speaking with someone other than inside the zoo.

"Well we're going to get along for sure Private!" Polly continued happily with a bunch of heart emojis.

"Definitely." I sent a few back.

"So what's your home place like? Do you live in a big house since you have three older brothers?"

"I wouldn't say big. Medium size. I don't have my own room. My brothers and I have bunks for beds."

"Oh! That's pretty cool too!"

"What about you? What is your home like?"

"I live in an apartment with my roommate Valerie Mae. I'm her therapist." My eyes widened. I was speaking to a therapist? She's very open and kind. I continued to type to her.

"Oh wow! My brother will get kinda mad if I told you but I don't think he'll find out, so since you told me I'll tell you, but I am a soldier." I wasn't going to go back on this. Especially since she seems to have such honesty and not afraid to speak about anything.

"A soldier? Wow! This is getting pretty interesting! You must have gone on many missions! Was it scary?"

"At times yes, but I always had my brothers with me."

"Aw."

"What kind of therapy do you do?" I asked her.

"My job is to make Valerie happy or give her comfort in anyway I can. She has lost somebody that was dear to her. I'm here to help her get through it all."

"Aw, give her a hug for me?" I said putting a happy face.

"I will." Polly replied with a happy face. I left our chat to see her account and her posts. 50 posts. She was on a roll! I only had 10. Then I noticed a new post she made. It was about her favourite singer. I didn't recognize this woman.

"Polly? Who is the woman on your new post?"

"Britney Spears. She's one of the best singers in the world! To me that is. I always loved her when I was younger." She said.

"Oh! I haven't really heart about artists like her since I basically grew up training."

"Aw, you must've been really busy. I highly recommend Hit Me Baby One More Time. That's my favourite song!"

"I'll get to it." I added a smiley face.

"Well I' have to go take care of Valerie now. As you can clearly see I'm a busy girl here. I'll talk to you whenever?"

"Of course."

"See ya!" Then she was offline. What an open, honest, and sweet girl she was. I smiled to myself.
