It had been a very long day with more social interaction than Dream or Technoblade had dealt with for quite some time. After the mall, they had gone grocery shopping and got Dream a haircut. The man couldn't help, but admit that he did feel good after all of the pampering he had received, even if Techno denied it be called that. When they finally had gone home, Dream helped to carry in everything, while Techno made a last-minute change in the guest room, making the bed with the warm, clean sheets and comforter that he had washed earlier that day.
By the time he was done with that, Dream had put away the most perishable food items and had also started to make dinner. Techno was surprised but didn't say anything, appreciative of the fact that he didn't have to cook again. It wasn't one of his strong suits, but he knew Dream liked home-cooked meals more than take out, so he had been willing to give it his best shot.
"Smells good. Making the soup as you suggested in the store?" Techno asked as he sat down on the stools outside of the kitchen.
"I can make something else if you would like me to," Dream offered, continuing what he was doing. "I don't mind."
"Nah, soup sounds good. Plus it seems like you're already waist-deep into prep."
The blonde man shrugged, not caring if he needed to change his plans. "Nothing so big that I can't change what I'm doing, but soup it is," he responded, continuing to dice the onion.
The English major stared down at his fingers, playing with the multiple rings he wore. There were so many that he had at this point that he had started to rotate the ones he wore daily. They helped him focus while he studied and sat through class. Otherwise, if he had nothing to do with his hands, he would find himself drifting through a sea of thoughts.
As Dream cooked, Technoblade did just that, almost losing all sense of self. It wasn't until a bowl of soup was being sat in front of him did he come back. He looked up, locking eyes with Dream, the blond giving a soft smile.
"You okay there? You didn't say anything for a long time."
"It's only been a few minutes."
Dream laughed. "Dude it's been an hour and a half. I tried to talk to you a few times, but you were just gone. I figured it would be best to just let you be."
"Oh… Well, I'm sorry about that."
The two had a fairly quiet night, Dream cleaning the kitchen, feeling it was only fair since he had cooked. Technoblade had decided to play some games before heading to bed, but Dream went straight to sleep, knowing he had work tomorrow. He swore to himself that tomorrow, he would get out of Techno's hair and pay him back for today.
—
"Techno!" a very angry Dream yelled, storming out of his room to find the English major laughing on the couch. "You're an asshole!"
"Oh come on man! I was just trying to get you laid. Did she take it the wrong way?" Technoblade asked between laughs.
"I can't believe you would tell my co-worker that! Do you understand I can get fired?" he threw a couch pillow, hitting Techno square in the face.
It had been almost eight months since Dream had moved in with Technoblade. He had tried to leave several times, but the pinkette had been very stern about him staying. And now, it seemed pointless to leave. He was finally was saving money and had a steady source of income and food. Techno and him were happy and neither had anything that they complained about with the other.
Dream had also been reconnecting with his old friends from high school, something he never thought he would be able to do. While hanging out with Sapnap and George was still a rare thing, he enjoyed it. There was also the fact that Technoblade had finally convinced him to contact his parents. It was rough, but they had apologized for kicking him out, acknowledging that they were in the wrong. Now, eight months into not being homeless, Dream was starting to feel those same feelings for Techno that he had years ago.
"I hate you sometimes you know that?" Dream glared at the laughing man and sighed. "I have to finish getting ready for tonight. You're coming right?"
"Yeah Dream, I'll be there. You know I wouldn't miss this Halloween party for the world."
The two got ready, hopping in Techno's car, and heading towards the party that Sapnap was hosting for everyone tonight. When they pulled up to the house, it came as a surprise to them both to see so many cars parked outside. Sapnap's place was a beacon of light in the dark night and Dream could have sworn he saw the house vibrating. After a quick, best out of three, a game of rock-paper-scissors, to see who would be the sober driver for the night, which Dream won drinking privileges, they both headed inside, almost instantly being greeted by George.
"Dream! You made it! And you brought Techno! I'm sure everyone will be all over you tonight sir."
"I guess we'll see about that," the man answered in his normal, monotone voice.
Dream was promptly snatched away by George and Sapnap. Techno laughed as he watched the man panic, eyes wide. He simply waved him off, going to lounge on a nearby couch, not really into the idea of socializing that night. Instead, he slowly dozed off, despite all of the noise.
—
"Oh Technoblade!" a sing-song voice broke through his unconsciousness.
His eyes slid open drearily to see a very drunk Dream in front of him. "Hi Dream."
"Techno! You're awake! Finally!" his roommate sunk onto the couch next to him. "I was starting to think you died."
"Don't be dramatic Dream. Technoblade never dies. You know this."
"But what if you did?" Dream stared at the wall in front of him for a long moment. "That would be really bad."
Techno laughed softly. "It would be really bad. You know Dream, I think you're a bit drunk."
"Am I? I didn't notice! I wonder if that's why my limbs feel weird. You know Techno, I'm still upset about you talking to my co-worker," Dream's voice went from fuzzy to serious. "It was very unprofessional."
"I'm sorry Dream. I didn't mean to cause any harm," the man apologized.
"I know you didn't! I just didn't appreciate it. I had to tell her that your words were untrue. Especially since I don't even like women."
Technoblade's eyebrows shot up in surprise, sitting upright at this proclamation. Either Dream was extremely drunk or he was about to discover a new fact about his best friend.
"Is that so? Do you like guys?"
Dream gave a firm nod. "I do. I have for a long time. My parents kicked me out because of it."
"That's why they kicked you out?" Techno's face was fuming at that thought. "Because you liked guys?"
"Yeah… They found out I was going to tell my crush I liked him and then they went, "nope! No love for you!" and kicked me out."
"I am so sorry… That's terrible. Who was your crush?" the pinkette asked curiously, not expecting Dream's eyes to lock with his.
"You were."
Sorry for the late update! I had a Halloween-themed D&D one-shot I attended last night and I just never got around to posting. I'm also working on moving and school, so if I miss an update, I am extremely sorry. Thanks for reading and please review!
Best Regards,
