Dream's heart must have stopped in his chest for a few seconds because the next breath he took was almost painful. "Yes," he said, no doubt in his voice. "Yes, of course, I will go on a date with you Techno!"
Dream quickly tried to quell his excitement, watching Techno's worried face turn to a smile. Technoblade was clearly nervous, but this was the next best step they could possibly have.
"Good, good. That's good. I was figuring we could just do something simple like boba and a movie. I've been thinking about this a lot and I think I'm ready to try. I'm sorry it took me so long."
"Technoblade, don't you dare apologize. In all honesty, I'm not sure I was ready when I told you. I've told you before and I will tell you again, I will wait as long as you need me to. Even if this date doesn't go well, I will still wait," he said, voice much softer than it was originally.
"Thank you Dream. Anywho, I figured we could do that in a few days. I don't want it to seem like a trial run, but honestly, that's the only way I can think of it. It's a bit of an overwhelming thought, but every time I look at you recently and this morning in the cafe all I could see was the amazingness that is you Dream. I know I can be a bit off-putting and that my voice tends to lack emotion, but I promise that's never on purpose. I really like you Dream."
The two locked eyes, Techno's face matching his hair at that moment. Dream looked away, grinning ear to ear. Techno found himself smiling slightly as well, picking his bowl back up. Something inside him seemed to be celebrating and he felt nothing, but pure relief wash over him. Taking a few more bites, he asked another question.
"So will this Friday evening work?"
"I don't work that day, but yes it will. You said boba and a movie?" Dream confirmed, continuing when Technoblade nodded. "Well, I know the cafe has a really good boba tea. What movie were you thinking?"
Techno frowned slightly. "Maybe the new Marvel movie that came out a week or so ago? I've been wanting to see it, but with the snowstorm, it was just never my biggest priority."
"I understand that. Okay. Movie and boba it is Friday evening. Right when you get home and then we can drive together?"
Techno nodded. "Works for me, so movie around 6:30 then."
Dream grinned, standing up to return his bowl to the kitchen, taking Techno's as he did so fabulous. Sounds like a good plan."

The next day at work, Dream was practically spinning in circles, causing Wilbur to laugh at the antics. When Technoblade came in for a coffee, Dream handled the entire interaction with a blush on his face. Wilbur watched with mild amusement as Techno took the lavender vanilla latte. By the time the pinkette had left, he had dealt with two other customers, knowing that this was the only moment that Dream ever acted this way.
"You went from roommates to potential lovers fast," he said, eyebrow raised as Dream worked on the row of cups.
"Oh, yeah, we did. He asked me out on a date last night. We are planning on boba and a movie on Friday so I'm very excited," Dream answered, grinning ear to ear. "We actually are planning on coming here."
"Ooo, fancy. Do you need to get off early to get ready? I can ask my dad to come in early to cover the rest of your shift."
Dream was shocked. "I'm good thank you though. I kind of need the money and I am scheduled. Besides, Phil works hard enough around here. "
"Alright, well the offer still stands. I'm looking at hopefully hiring another two people within next week. I know Tommy and Tubbo need more time for their personal lives and that dad is fairly tired. That should help reduce some more stress. Speaking of hiring, however, would you be willing to help train new people?"
"Of course. If I can help, I will. Do you know about when they would start? I don't know all of your recipes yet and I just need to know when to have them memorized by."
"Probably early next week if that works for both of them. It will require you to work some nights, however. I can ask-" Wilbur did not get to finish his sentence.
Dream laughed. "You should not ask Phil. I'll work nights and help train Wilbur." He looked out the window, the snow falling gently, causing the world to look like a romantic scene.
Today was good.
—
Today was not good.
The wind was blowing Techno all over campus and he felt chilled to the bone. Everything had just not gone right. It was odd because the rest of the week had been filled with nothing, but good things. Most of the snow had melted off, making their college town livable once more and it seemed like their date night had been lining up to be a warmer night than normal in November. Technoblade had no complainants about that, however, finding that most of his good outfits lied in appropriation for warmer weather anyways.
But everything had gone downhill this morning. He woke up late for his class, sleeping past three different alarms. When he finally did wake up, he found a text from Dream saying he had been called into work, meaning that he didn't even get to say good morning to him before he left for the day. By the time he got to campus, he had noticed the wind, blowing him about abnormally hard, knowing that there had been zero forewarning.
So as he buckled into his car, his mind had one thought swirling around in it. I can't fuck up this date. In all his time, Techno had never felt more stressed about a date going wrong than he did now. Glancing at the time on his phone, he knew that two hours was more than enough time to get home, get changed, and come back into town with Dream and to hopefully show this man the time of his life. If this went wrong, a small part of Techno believed that nothing would ever go right again.
So when he pulled into the driveway and didn't see Dream's car there, some panic went through him. Had Dream left without him? Had something happened to Dream to cause him to no longer want to go on this date? While valid fears and questions, Techno didn't want to believe it at all. Scanning the house for forms of life before shutting off his car, he finally darted inside, relief filling him when he found the door to be unlocked. Dream was not careless and neither of them would ever leave the door unlocked if they were going to leave the house with no one home.
"Dream?" he called cautiously, pushing the door closed behind himself. "Are you in here?"
The house was silent for a moment, however, the call was soon answered by none other than the blonde. "I'm in my room."
Technoblade let out one of the deepest sighs of relief before heading to his room, glaring out of the window, the wind causing the thought of his nice outfit to just feel cold. Deciding that he would suffer through it, Techno closed the door and the curtains before changing as quickly as he could. When the shirt was pulled over his head, he had only one goal after that. He picked up the hairbrush, checking the time on the clock that sat next to his bed before beginning to brush through his hair. A long pink braid was quickly formed down his back. This was his favorite hairstyle and while he had no idea if he was correct, he felt as if Dream liked it too. Exiting his room, a small smile crossed his face when he saw the blonde.
"Well you look well dressed and ready," he said softly, causing the man to jump.
Dream, slightly startled, turned to face him. "Oh! Um, well you look very nice too Techno," he whispered, a blush growing across his face.
The two said nothing more, simply watching the other stand there flustered. After a brief moment, Dream stepped forward, taking a deep breath. "Are we all ready to go? I am, but I feel like you may want to wear a jacket, just in case. Your outfit seems to be a bit chilly."
"No, I'm fine. Let's go," Technoblade said, darting towards where his keys and wallet lay.
Dream laughed, following him, but grabbed his green hoodie as he walked out the door. He was very excited to go on a date with Technoblade finally. After nearly five years of pining, he was so close to being his. Locking the door behind himself, he ran to the now open car door, giving a quiet thank you to Techno as he got in. Not long after, Technoblade got in himself and they were on their way to Wilbur's Knickknacks for the boba that was hopefully an omen of good things to come.
"Where's your car Dream?" Techno asked at one point, the question arising as he thought back to how the car was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh, well, it's at the cafe, in the employee parking right now," he said with a slightly bitter laugh. "I got two flats and when cars one come with one spare, it's kind of hard to make it work."
"Oh, why didn't you call me? We have the same tire size, I would have brought you my spare."
Dream shrugged and the rest of the ride continued in silence. It was the awkward, first-date silence that made everyone nervous. No one spoke until Techno had parked in front of the cafe, shutting off the car and staring rather blankly at the storefront. Dream unbuckled, letting a sigh of relief escape.
"Well here we are," he said quietly, getting out. "No matter what happens tonight Techno, I just want you to know that you'll always be my best friend."
Technoblade blushed, getting out himself. "No need to be so cheesy."
The two grinned, Dream pushing forward to grab the door for the pinkette. As Techno entered and he followed, deep down, he knew that this night would be amazing.
Welcome back my friends. I hope you had a good week. This chapter is slowly than I initally planned due to only being able to write for a few days. The move went... Interestingly. I haven't had hot water, heat, or anyway to cook food due to a red flag on the gas here and so that's been fun. I hope to see you all next Sunday! Thank care and please review!
Best Regards,
