AN: Everyone seemed eager to see this idea created so here we go. I'm still deciding on pairings (and to those saying only Ruby would work because of age I wish to point out those who pair Ruby with those older than her like Weiss or Jaune). That said I do have two potential pairings in mind I'm debating on. One is Whitley/Blake. The other is Whitley/Emerald. I have plans for how those could go but it's not set yet.

With the Power of an Avalanche

Chapter 1

-Whitley-

Face set in the stoic mask he'd had to perfect to survive in the Schnee manor, Whitley reached his father's office where he knocked at the door.

"Enter." The bored voice of his father wasn't a surprise as Whitley obeyed, closing the door behind him as he approached the desk, waiting respectfully for his father to allow him to speak. Upon getting the gesture to go ahead, Whitely pulled out the Beacon acceptance letter he'd received, handing it over to his father.

"So, it looks like your efforts paid off." Jacques Schnee read through the letter that confirmed Whitley was welcome to attend the initiation test at Beacon Academy. At the same time as Weiss no less.

"I gave you my word father." Whitely nodded, remembering back to the long hours spent figuring out his semblance n his own. Calculating and experimenting with new ways to use dust. His Father didn't care for anything besides money. His mother hadn't been sober in years. Weiss and Winter had never been there for him. Even the servants such as Klein had favored his sisters. So, he'd had to learn how to help himself, how to play the game against even his own kin.

It was a simple matter to get to his father and convince the man to have Whitley's aura unlocked. The White fang already hated the family, and the company had many enemies. There had even been attacks on other extended members of the family. An extra layer of security would be beneficial.

Getting training on how to fight started as 'learning to protect myself should I get attacked by the Fang' and eventually evolved in how he portrayed it to his father. He pointed out how Weiss and Winter learned the Huntsman arts just to defy him as, to them, it was the opposite of the corporate and high society world his father favored. Whitley pointed out how his Grandfather had been both businessman and Huntsman. How Whitley could earn respect that way and curry favor with customers who see someone using the same products they pushed. Using Huntsman training and license to support the company and even field test new products to sell. There was of course more to it, but Jacques Schnee didn't need to know that.

"So, you did." Jacques Schnee closed the letter and tossed it back to Whitely, "So you did. Your…experiment has gone well enough to be viable for this exam?"

"Oh yes father." Whitley couldn't keep the glimpse of self-pride from his voice as he nodded, "Admittedly this current prototype is primarily tailored to work for me and the family Semblance, but it does have applications that others could still use. It's also a proof of concept of what can be done, either with more basic forms that others could use or more specialized items that could be custom ordered and built." And that had been a trying experience. With Weiss despising him and Winter only seeming to care about Weiss, he'd had nobody to help train him in how to actually use the family semblance. Still, he'd made progress with it and his skill. In all honesty he looked forward to seeing Weiss' reaction when she learned that her younger brother had managed to get into Beacon at the same time as her. Spite was a hell of a motivator.

"Do try to find yourself a useful team there at least Whitley." Jacques turned his chair around in dismissal, waving his hand for Whitley to go, "Good help his so hard to find these days and I'm tired of having to rely on Ironwood's lackeys to protect our mines."

Keeping his calm mask up, Whitley nodded and left the office respectfully, only allowing his frustration to show once he was back in his room. "Fucking bastard." Whitley scowled as he worked to get his bag packed. He'd spent years planning for this and had even managed to purchase a small home in Vale for him to use, passing it off as a company expense for any business trips in the area, technically true if one argued it. Hell, he even had thoughts about opening a business in Vale while he was there. He had an account of funds he'd been saving up, transferring his 'allowance' to there every time it came around to build interest. Weiss tended to go shopping with Winter, liking getting to go out and eat. Liking to buy the best and shiniest things she could. He was more pragmatic, only really splurging on dust for his experiments or his when making his gear.

Getting to the last box, Whitley paused before flipping it open. Inside lay said huntsman gear he'd worked so hard to get and make. He'd tried to combine the regality of his grandfather's armor with more modern aesthetics. Wanting something classy and respectable. And more functional than his sister trying to do flips in a skirt of all things.

His huntsman outfit wouldn't be amiss outside a high class, having the appearance of high-class dress pants and shirt, some shined shoes, and a nice vest and tie. Every bit of it woven with hard light dust to make it more durable. His goal was to get cloth just as durable as metal armor while keeping the mobility the base material offered.

Beside the huntsman outfit were his weapons. Some standard and others far less so.

The standards were the weapons his tutors had trained him in. A standard pistol used by the Atlesian Military and a simple saber. They were simple enough he could get more parts for them as he needed, planning to upgrade or replace them once he got more successful experiments done.

The less standard pieces though were where his experiments had primarily gone. A pair of gauntlets, each made out of special metal that tended to react well to channeling aura and with a dust crystal in each knuckle. Each crystal had been one he'd taken the time to carefully track down and select, the purest and densest ones he could find for their respective types.

The right hand was the Gauntlet of Reality, embedded with Dust crystals for Hard Light, Gravity, Energy, Plants, and Combustion. The left hand was the Gauntlet of Elements, embedded with Dust crystals for Ice, Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire.

With these he could focus his family semblance, his glyphs, through the metal and crystals making effects that he'd never seen or heard of his siblings doing. It was almost like he had magic from those the stories he liked to read when he was alone.

"I can do this." Whitley took a deep breath as he closed the case again. He had a ticket to get him to Vale, admittedly with a couple stops first, and he'd be there a few weeks before initiation. This gave him plenty of time to start trying to find a business he could start up and hire people to run while he was at Beacon. He needed this, he needed to make an impact if he was to get declared Heir over Weiss.

"Time to get to work." Suitcases packed up; Whitley had a servant drive him out to the airport. None of his family saw him off.

AN: So yeah, the gauntlets are inspired by the Thanos Reality gauntlet and each Dust type I listed is a canon one from the RWBY wiki.

AN2: Next chapter I'll have him be in Vale and meet Jaune as those two are going to be partners in this. I plan to give a couple chapters before they get to Beacon itself.
