That evening launched Phantomhive manor into the anxious chaos that came with a baby's arrival.

Sebastian sent Finny and Snake into the city to collect the midwife.

While he waited for help to arrive, Mey-Rin came to assist him with tending Ciel.

As the night wore on and Lady Phantomhive's pains increased, Sebastian frowned in awe of his petite mate's strength.

He had feared that his darling would be defenseless against the agony of childbirth, but Ciel had felt those terrible sensations before.

While she hardly welcomed her plight, she accepted, like all mothers of her era, her trial as a necessary and unavoidable evil.

However, that notion did not make her task less burdensome.

Sebastian kept his brow furrowed in a deep frown as he stayed loyally by Ciel's side and mopped her forehead and neck with a cloth dampened by clean water from a nearby bowl.

Mey-Rin fussed over her mistress as she and Sebastian helped Ciel change positions, eager to assist in any way possible, just as she had when Lady Elizabeth had been born.

Shortly before dawn, Ciel sat up in her nest and grit her teeth from her pain.

Sebastian felt a wave of relief wash over him as he heard the carriage approaching outside in the driveway.

"A few moments more, my lady." Sebastian whispered to Ciel as she blew out a breath, "...A few moments more and it will all be over."

Ciel clutched onto Sebastian and hoped that he was right.

She didn't know if her memory had faded or if she had been so miserable in her life that the pain hadn't bothered her, but as she gripped Sebastian's hand while another punishing cramp began in her lower back, it baffled lady Phantomhive how she had managed to bear Elizabeth without the support of her alpha.

Finny and Snake escorted the midwife out of the carriage as Ciel's pain crescendoed to such a point that she could no longer hold onto her silent dignity.

As a piercing shriek left her cracked lips, Sebastian's eyes widened along with his darling's knees as he looked over at Mey-Rin.

Mey-Rin gave him a tense smile as she nodded at him with a serious look in her eyes behind the heavy frames of her glasses as Ciel groaned.

Ciel thrashed herself around in her nest in response to the overwhelming pain Sebastian's child caused her as it threatened to enter the world.

Mey-Rin hastily worked with Sebastian to help Ciel into a comfortable position against her pillows as she gently moved her mistress's legs.

Sebastian's eyes were narrowed to worried slits, but Mey-Rin patiently showed him what to do as she gave Ciel one of her hands to hold and firmly clutched one of her mistress's thighs in her other.

The Phantomhive maid nodded at Sebastian in approval as he followed her actions and did his best to cradle his mate in a way that would aid her efforts.

He felt his pulse pound in his chest as he watched his lover give herself entirely to the pursuit of bringing his child into the world.

It made Sebastian want to roar in anger that Ciel had to hurt, but her willingness to grant him a legacy smothered his possessive rage in feelings of rapt admiration.

"...Lady Midford?" A voice from downstairs called as Ciel started to groan again.

"Up here, ma'am!" Mey-Rin called loudly.

Sebastian blinked at the maid, surprised that she had spoken before he had the chance.

It baffled him how skilled and calm Mey-Rin seemed at such a crucial moment when she usually struggled with the simplest of daily tasks.

Ciel held both of their hands tight as footsteps pounded up the stairs.

The door to her bedchamber swung open as the midwife burst in, with her bag in her arms, ready to assist.

As Ciel cried out, squeezed her eyes shut, and curled forward, the midwife's eyes immediately narrowed at Sebastian as she snapped, "Men have no place in a lady's bedchambers at a time like this!"

"With all due respect, madam, it would take a large pack of wild horses to drag me from my ma-, er, my lady's side at this hour." Sebastian called over Ciel's screeching cry.

His nerves were raw and his instincts gnawed at him to aid his pained omega.

Her scent had become suffocatingly sweet while she had laboured.

Sebastian pondered how much more his beloved's smell would change when he glanced down over the roundness of his mate's womb and saw what looked to be…...

"Miss, please come quickly!" Mey-Rin implored the midwife as Ciel fell back against the pillows.

The midwife rushed over, but the next moments blurred for Ciel.

She could hear her alpha's low, velvet voice murmur occasionally, in between the frantic, encouraging shrieks from her two female attendants, but Ciel could only focus on her pain.

That terrible pressure, she had to force it from her body, had to……..

Had to……..

It took every bit of her strength, every available amount of force she possessed, but with a strangled gasp of pure relief, the hideous pain ebbed away for a moment as she felt a tremendous weight pass from her.

"Well done, mistress!" Mey-Rin cheered as she blotted Ciel's face with the damp rag after the tired omega collapsed back against the pillows, "Well done!"

Sebastian was too awestruck to speak.

He kept his grip on Ciel's hand and thigh while he watched in wonder as the midwife pulled a dirty, squirming, new life from his mate.

Sebastian maintained his physical support of Ciel but his mouth fell open as he watched the midwife wrap that tiny baby in a clean towel before she lifted the bundle over Ciel's belly and into her arms.

"Congratulations, Lad Midford!" The midwife beamed at Ciel as she watched the mother gaze down at her newborn for the first time, "You have a handsome, healthy son!"

The midwife assisted Ciel with the afterbirth before Mey-Rin thoughtfully asked her to step out of the room and confirm some toys that had been purchased for the new baby would be safe.

The Phantomhive maid often tried Sebastian's patience with her bumbling ways, but that morning, he had never felt more grateful to Mey-Rin for winning him and Ciel a moment alone with their little one.

"I'm so very proud of you, my lady." Sebastian purred to Ciel while he kissed her dry lips.

He smirked when he heard his son coo from her arms.

Ciel moved over slightly and Sebastian crawled into the nest next to her to pull her and the baby close to him for a brief moment of family bonding.

Sebastian's heart fluttered at the unusual undertone of softness that lingered in his mate's voice as she whispered, "...He's lovely."

Although Ciel was gripped by the torrent of hormones that coursed through an omega in her position and her heart overflowed with gracious sentiment, her statement was not untrue.

Sebastian's tiny son had been born already carrying his father's charms.

The baby's head was covered in fluffy tufts of raven-black hair, his face was round, and above his little nose were large, blue eyes that he used to blink at his parents in quiet curiosity.

Sebastian's heart glowed when he realized his newborn had inherited his mate's beautiful sapphires.

Ciel watched her lover carefully as she slipped the baby into his arms.

A wide grin of unbridled joy spread across Sebastian's face as he finally managed to hold his son.

"What do you think of him?" Ciel asked her alpha with a frown.

Her heart melted as she watched her lover cradle the little life she had held in her womb for months.

She drew a silent breath as Sebastian leaned down and pressed a delicate kiss to the baby's forehead while the infant grimaced and writhed in protest.

"He's ours, my lady." Sebastian whispered in a low purr that sent delightful shivers down Ciel's spine as his dark gaze flickered to meet her sapphire stare.

The intensity of love, longing, and deep respect in her alpha's eyes made Lady Phantomhive's ordeal seem worthwhile as she watched the father of her son gratefully honor the gift she had given him.

Ciel blinked when the baby began to whimper and writhe in Sebastian's grasp.

Sebastian watched his lover rustle around in her nest as her body eagerly responded to her infant's cries.

"Is he hungry, my lady?" Sebastian asked as he handed the baby back to Ciel and watched his mate expose one of her plump breasts to lay his son against.

Ciel sighed tiredly as Sebastian moved to support her.

"I'd like to name him Vincent, after my father." She yawned.

"Then Vincent shall be his name." Sebastian nodded with a pleased grin.

"I love you, Sebastian….." Lady Phantomhive whispered in a rare moment of vulnerableness as Sebastian placed soft kisses on her cheeks and neck.

"And my heart grows fonder of you with each day that passes…." Sebastian purred in response, "You belong to me, Lady Phantomhive~." He growled as an arrogant smirk crossed his handsome face.

Ciel closed her eyes as she sighed again while the baby's quiet grunting noises filled the room as he enjoyed his first meal.

"Will you…….will you do something for me, Sebastian?" Ciel asked quietly.

"Anything, my lady." Sebastian replied in a deep purr as he bent down and gave Ciel another loving kiss, "You need only ask me."

Ciel opened her eyes to stare at him after he pulled away.

Her command came in one sure statement as she ordered, "Take us all away from here…...so that we can live our lives in peace…...I'm tired of hiding."
