My Little Pony: Worker Birds

Chapter 11: Do The Right Thing

Our months of work on the cellar of the new skyscraper was nearly done, so we decided to take Buena Vista out to eat with us. We had just gotten our monthly paychecks from the Skyline Group, and cashed them in that afternoon after our shift. At a sit-down tavern, we talked while looking over the menu, "So you don't mind us eating meat?" I asked,

"Oh no, not at all," said Buena Vista, "I'm a Tulparian, ponies like us eat meat too, we tend to stay away from red meat like beef and go for the lighter stuff like chicken or fish," she explained, we nodded, and ruffled her mane earning a giggle from the griffon-sized mare, "it makes me so happy to have you three as friends, it's not easy being Tulparian,"

"Why's that?" asked Gilda

"Tell us," requested Gabby

"Well, it's the same reason why some ponies don't like Griffons, some ponies look at Griffons as being rude, lazy, and greedy," said Buena Vista, Gilda seemed to go from sad to sadder at those three words. I patted her on the wing, "no, no Gilda, I don't mean that toward you, I'm just stating a stereotype," she explained, Gilda popped her head back up

"The same thing, but with other negative traits, can be said about Tulparians like me, especially mares, you see, ponies look at Tulparians as being fat and stupid" Buena Vista sighed "I was made fun of as a filly for being bigger-than-average, and called a slut or saying that my brains are in my flanks and that's why they're so big" I really feel her pain

"Do you need a hug?"

"Sure," she smiled, accepting it

Buena Vista is very soft and warm. I let her go, and we sat back down, "Muchas gracias," she said thankfully, and the booth seat creaked a bit as we both sat down. Gilda tried to hold back a chuckle "don't say it" she said to Gilda "the thing is I don't work in construction because it's all I know, I do love my job, I love being part of a team, you get me?"

I notice that though. You don't see Tulparian Ponies working for big companies, or high end jobs like doctors or lawyers. They work the other jobs like construction, waitressing, electricians, or at supermarkets. Speaking of that, a Tulparian mare, a blond one with light brown eyes, came up to us, "Hi, I'm Orange Spritzer, and I'll be your waitress today,"

"Can I start you off with some drinks?"

We ordered a round of cream sodas, plus an order mozzarella sticks and some buffalo wings upon Gilda and Gabby's request. She jotted it down on her notepad with a pen using her unicorn magic. Her blond mane is tied back in a ponytail and she had a black headband. Her cutie mark is a tall glass of orange soda with a striped straw and an orange slice

"Alright, I'll get this in, and you ladies enjoy yourselves," she said kindly, and walked off. That blond is as 'thicc' as Buena Vista, and just as wiggly in the motions of her flanks as she is. Buena Vista seemed to noticed something about the mare that I did not. There is always that hidden understanding that those of the same species have with one another.

"I see it in her," said Buena Vista

"Really?" I questioned,

"Si, it wouldn't surprise me if this job is the one thing keeping a roof over her head, or that this is the one place that was willing to hire her," Buena Vista explained, "look at her, she's not exactly happy about being here, it won't surprise me if her boss hired her so she can be 'eye candy' for the stallions because she is una nalgona" I lightly nodded to her

"What do you say we make her shift?" suggested Gilda with a wink. We all smiled in agreement as Orange Spritzer came up to us with our drinks, and our food. We all agreed on a number, "here, take this as a tip," said Gilda and handed her three hundred bits. The bits came out of our own pockets. Orange Spritzer put a hoof up to her muzzle in surprise

"I...don't know if I can accept it,"

"Take it, it's yours," smiled Gabby

With our starters on the table, Orange Spitzer explained herself, "I...I don't know what to say, it's just that I'm currently living in a shelter right now, and I just got back from an apartment meeting today, and it costs six hundred bits," she paused and covered her face with her hoof while on the verge of tears, and we gave her an extra three hundred bits

"You're kidding me?" she said in awe, "I...I don't even know if I can take this," to that, we said that it's just the right thing to do, "can I hug you all?" she requested, and we all saw to her request "thank you so much...I don't know what to say-I mean, nopony's ever done anything like this for me, ever, props to all your parents who raised you that way"

"It's thanks to Heloise," said Gilda

"She's a great role model," she replied

She wiped her tears, and went back to serving the other ponies. It feels so good to do things for those that are less fortunate. The food was good, and we made a cheers to our friendship and helping out another pony in need. After dinner, we left with a group hug for Orange Spritzer, and headed to the hotel we were staying at so that we can rest easy.
