It was 5 days later and the day of the court hearing. Jon was trying to get ready but his stomach was bugging him yet again. He had taken a Zofran but it didn't help. He looked at Bryan sadly. "I feel so sick, even after taking my Zofran."
"It's just your nerves. We got this." Bryan told Jon.
"I'm not ready to see him. I feel like I'll want to punch him if I see him. I'm still so pissed about this whole situation. " Jon admitted.
"There'll be a cop there, just be on your best behavior. I promise everything will be okay." Bryan tried to reassure his lover. Jon nodded solemnly, feeling the acid rose in his throat. He groaned, trying to swallow the acid back down. "Should we bring the babies? Or should we leave them with Darby?" Jon asked Bryan.
"Wise thing to do is leave them with Darby. BUT. No matter how shitty he was to us, Eddie still hasn't seen his kids in over a month. I think he deserves to at least say hi." Bryan answered. Jon nodded and finished getting ready. "I'll go get the twins ready. We should bring extra diapers, formula, and baby food just in case."
Bryan nodded. It didn't take long for Jon to get the twins ready. He carried the babies down to the truck and put them in their car seats. He then got in with Bryan and they drove to the court house. When they got there, Hikaru was already there to greet them. Once they got inside, Hikaru guided them to the courtroom . Jon let out a small growl when he saw Eddie sitting next to his lawyer. "Hold me back, Bryan. Before I do something stupid…" Jon growled as he sat down. When the judge arrived, they started the hearing. Eddie's lawyer was up first. Jon's leg began going a mile a minute when the lawyer, Matt Hardy, started speaking. "Your Honor, I was told by my client that the defendant is not mentally fit to raise children. He's been diagnosed with postpartum depression and at one point even told my client that he wanted to hurt the babies. I firmly believe that if you give custody to the defendant, those kids will surely be in danger. That is all."
Jon was seething now. Hikaru then walked up to the judge and began her statement. "Your Honor. "My client has never said that he wanted to hurt the babies. He was, in fact, diagnosed with postpartum depression. He was suicidal at his lowest point but was put on medication to treat the depression immediately. It has also come to my attention that the plaintiff has a drinking problem. So bad that he passed out drunk one day when home alone with the twins, which resulted in the babies sitting in their own feces for at least 2 hours before my client got home and changed their diapers. I firmly believe that the plaintiff will be putting the babies in danger if he doesn't get his drinking under control. I suggest that he go to rehab before being allowed any kind of custody of the children. That is all."
The judge looked over each report before reaching a decision. "I am awarding sole custody to the defendant, Jon Moxley, with supervised visitation for the plaintiff, Eddie Kingston. Plaintiff is required to go to rehab before any kind of unsupervised visitation takes place. The plaintiff is also required to pay $500 a month in child support for each child. Case dismissed. " The judge banged her gavel.
Jon hugged Bryan tightly. "We won!" He looked over at Eddie, who looked utterly defeated. He sighed, carrying the babies over to Eddie. "You get 5 minutes with them. We will work out an actual visitation schedule at a later date." He ordered.
Eddie nodded, taking a baby in each arm. "Hey kids, remember me? It's daddy." Brooklyn babbled to her father but Jonathan began screaming in fear. He squirmed in Eddie's arms, reaching his arms out for Jon. Sighing in defeat, Eddie handed the baby boy back to Jon.
"Shh… it's okay. That was your daddy. He's not scary." Jon cooed at the crying infant. Eddie smiled softly at the sight. After the 5 minutes were up, Eddie gave each baby a kiss on the forehead then turned to Jon. "Thank you for letting me see them. You have no idea how much I've missed them."
Jon nodded. "If we have to co-parent, we have to be civil with each other. I'm still pissed off at you for even filing this petition. But we're not gonna get into that right now."
Eddie nodded, heading back by his lawyer. Jon got the babies into their car seats. Him and Bryan carried them out to the truck and got in. Jon sighed a breath of relief once they began the journey back home. Jon felt some nausea but grabbed the diaper bag, which had his bottle of Zofran took one of the pills. He sighed sadly.
Bryan heard Jon sigh and frowned. "What's wrong, babe?"
"I just hate that I have to take a pill just to stop me from puking. I hate taking pills, I hate medicating in general, unless it's absolutely necessary."
"Well, let's hope you don't have nausea for the entire pregnancy." Bryan said with a smile. Jon nodded and looked out the window for the remainder of the drive home. He had something else on his mind as well. And that was how Jonathan reacted to seeing his daddy. The baby boy didn't seem to be developing as fast as his sister. While Brooklyn was babbling, crawling, and said her first word, Jonathan hasn't done any of that.
When they got home, Jon shared his concerns with Bryan. "I think Jonathan might have autism. He's not developing as fast as Brooklyn. And how he screamed when Eddie held him, that wasn't normal. He also throws fits more than Brooklyn."
"Jon, they're only 8 months old. It's too early to tell if he has autism. He's probably just a late bloomer. He will catch up to Brooklyn, he just needs a little more time." Bryan said, trying to reassure Jon.
Jon sighed sadly, he was already feeling the effects of being off the antidepressants. He just wanted to go lay down and go to sleep. He made bottles for the twins, as it was soon approaching their nap time.
Bryan could tell that Jon wasn't feeling right. It worried him. He helped lay the kids down for their nap then decided to talk to Jon. "Hey, you okay?" He asked Jon once they reached the bedroom.
"I don't know. My mind is racing, I feel depressed. I'm not sure what's going on. But I can't go back on the antidepressants until the pregnancy is over." Jon got into the bed, and Bryan laid next to him.
"Is there anything I can do to help you feel better?" Bryan asked, wrapping his arm around Jon.
"I don't know…at this point I'm not sure what would make me feel better." He sighed. "I don't even feel up for sex and that almost always makes me feel better." Jon looked down, trying to hide the tears that threatened to fall. He heard whimpering and looked down, seeing Benny standing against the bed, wanting up. Jon picked him up and held him close. The dog licked Jon's face, making him chuckle softly. "You always know how to make me feel better, Benny."
Bryan smiled softly and just kept holding Jon. It wasn't long before both men had fallen asleep.
