We stayed like that until the break of morning light crept through the cloud filtered sky, trough the massive windows and across the satin sheets wrapped around us. I flexed my clenched fists against his chest, knuckles stiff as they released his now crumped shirt.
The tears that were long dried pulled at my cheeks. I moved my right fist to wipe my face with the back of my sleeve covered hand. Jasper brushed my cheek gently, soothing it from the irritation of the rough fabric.
Processing the new life ahead of me cleared the anxiety and fog from inside me. The opportunities and hope that burned in me now was peaceful. As the first raindrops splashed against the wall, I felt even more at home and calm. Home. A word that I hadn't know before him. Before all of them.
I had yet to bring my hand from my chin as Jasper grabbed it gently and brought it to his ice-cold lips. The chill was electrifying against my warm skin.
I was content in remaining here until the end of days, that was until my stomach fizzled and grumbled between us.
A hollow little laugh rumbled around me as it escaped his lips.
"Right on time," he murmured.
"Is mortality that predictable?" I groaned as I nuzzled further into him ignoring all calls for sustenance.
"Edward never thought so, but then again I was always the more…worldly…of the siblings." He laughed again. It was so free and careless, unlike anything I had ever heard or seen from him. This really was a new beginning.
"Hmm." I purred into him.
He pulled away gently, slowly. His curled hand angled my face upwards towards his intense burning gaze. His eyes were fixed on my lips, unwavering.
"All mine," he uttered before he lowered himself onto me. His elbows bent impossibly slow, allowing his weight to cover me as his lips met mine. They moved gently at first, residual uncertainty melting away with every motion.
I mirrored his every move, eager for more intensity. I brought my hoodie paws around his head, tangling my exposed fingers in his hair. The waves broke to my motions easily like they were crashing against a finely sanded shore.
His head tilted to the left as he drew even closer, body rolling and restraint being thrown to the wayside. His hips lowered further yet into me as my legs moved naturally to either side of him. More weight bore down on me now and I was elated by the unspoken acknowledgment of my now less-delicate state of being.
He moved in delicious ways as I reciprocated, not daring to take anything further than him out of respect for his disposition.
A guttural growl escaped his lips into my mouth as his tongue moved forward into mine. A dance really. One worthy of spectators.
One of his hands slid up my body while the other remained at its supportive place next to my hip. It brushed my cheek before wrapping its long fingers around the base of my head, guiding me with him. The hand near my hip did so as well now. Slowly, everything growing with passion but not intensity.
I let out a soft chuckle as I smiled into his lips.
He reciprocated gently as he explained, "Its nice to not have to be as reserved, though I suppose I should still be respectfully mindful of your pristine virtue." He half smiled devilishly against my lips.
"Who's to say its pristine?" I joked as I grabbed the side of his face rougher now, tightening the grip I had around his waist with my thighs.
He pulled away sharply, an incredulous look and raised eyebrows burrowing into me.
"Kidding." I muttered with a laugh as I pulled him back to me, not wanting this to end.
"Hmm," he moaned into my open mouth. It reverberated deep within me, sending the vibrations into my stomach and deeper into my abdomen now.
The butterflies gathered in me as his body moved against me in enthralling wave motions, his knees hiking higher with each swell.
He was firmly pressed against me before the next growl came. It was ironic in that it came from both his throat and my stomach, a sadistic yet harmonious natural parallel between predator and prey.
"I suppose we should really remedy that hunger of yours." He hesitated millimeters from me.
"Precisely what I was thinking…" I smirked through heavy lashes.
His eyes rolled deep behind his lids as his head tilted regretfully backwards with a deep intake of breath before he turned his face towards the door and back with a rugged outwards sigh.
My hands fell gently from his hair, around his neck, and down the front of his chest resting on the hardened pectorals there.
"Now, I have been genuinely curious…Perks of vampirism or the rough life of a soldier?" I teased as I grasped slightly at him.
The smirk grew even more yet on his face as he lowered his eyes at my hands tucking his chin into his chest. "Both I suppose, thought the cowboy rancher lifestyle may have had a greater hand than the confederacy did."
"Oh, really now," I hesitated, turning my head sideways in thought. "That's too bad that I missed Halloween with you then, it would have been a really nice chance for you to show me that side of yourself." I taunted.
Breath rushed out of him quickly again in a gruff as his head moved backwards and his chest jutted forward ever-so-slightly into my fervent hands.
"Let's find you something to eat my Darlin', before you find yourself placed on my menu" he kissed me deeply one last time with the most intensity that he had ever showed me in our brief time together.
