Chapter 13- Trapped

It didn't take Oliver long to find some chemical lights. Anna helped Felicity into a chair and gently cleaned cuts on hers and Felicity's faces from the first aid kit Oliver had given her from a metal locker. "You know, under different circumstances, these chem lights might seem festive," Felicity said as Oliver same back to the computers.

"No sign of Chase. It looks like the EMP was his play. Elevator and security doors offline," Oliver said.

"Did you check the emergency exit door?" Anna asked as she closed the first aid kit.

"I did. It's welded shut," Oliver said with a defeated look on his face.

"If Chase wasn't so evil, I might actually be impressed. The air vents are gonna be down too," Felicity said.

"The air vents will last a little while longer, but...yeah, we have to get a message out," Oliver said.

"And there is the problem that it's starting to feel cold in here and I gotta go to the bathroom," Anna said, rubbing her arms briskly.

"Other than standing at the door and yelling really loudly, I don't really know what our options are. We're trapped," Felicity said, the same defeated look crossing her face that Oliver had.

Quentin Lance held his cell phone, feeling frustrated. Oliver or Anna hadn't answered his fourth call. Anna was supposed to spend the day with him as he had missed being a father to a teenager and she had agreed to his taking her out for dinner as Raisa's health food was a little too much for her sometimes. "Call me back, will you? Better yet, just show up, Ann, Oliver. Things are going to all kinds of heck around here," Quentin said as he hung up the phone after the phone took him to Oliver's voice message.

"Still no luck?" Rene asked as he came into the conference room where Quentin and the officers he was in charge of sat, doing paperwork.

"No. It's like Oliver and Anna have dropped off the face of the Earth. Again," Quentin said as Rene followed him into his office.

"How's it going over here?" Rene asked.

"Well, every defense attorney in town just found out that the D.A. is a serial killer, so not good," Quentin said grimly.

"You think the court's gonna overturn Chase's convictions?" Rene asked.

"If I didn't, I wouldn't have convened this war room. It'd sure be nice to have a mayor heading it up, though. You heard from Felicity?" Quentin asked.

"Radio silence, but I got Curtis," Rene said.

"And?" Quentin asked.

"He's gonna check and see if Oliver and Anna's at the bunker since Anna now knows Oliver is the Green Arrow and Anna's father gave her the biometric tracker that he invented," Rene said.

"Get on it," Quentin ordered as they both went separate ways.

Anna watched as Oliver took an arrow and fired it at the welded door. Whatever spark it gave off wasn't enough to penetrate the door. "How many is that?" Anna asked as Oliver fired another arrow, which failed to penetrate.

"11. Hasn't made a dent yet," Oliver said as he came to the railing and looked down on her and Felicity, who had braced her hands on the wheels of her chair, where she could stand.

"What's that thing made of anyway?" Felicity asked.

"Keltium. It's a proprietary alloy developed by the U.S. government to repel nuclear blasts," Oliver said as he came down the stairs.

"So, you're saying even if we had a nuke down here, it wouldn't work? Seems like your friend Cisco in Central City did such a good job of turning this place into an impenetrable fortress, he turned it into an impenetrable death trap," Anna said, irritably as she looked around.

"Chase doesn't want to kill me, remember?" Oliver asked, lifting his compact bow.

"Yeah. He just locked us all down here for the fun of it," Anna said sourly.

"He locked us down here because he is up to something up there, and I can't do anything about it," Oliver said.

"Well, the good news is there's not much left for him to do. I mean he's already gone after Curtis, Lance, Evelyn, even Susan, and Thea's away, and Lyla and J.J. have A.R.G.U.S. protection. I mean, who's left?" Felicity asked.

Oliver's face then changed. "William," Oliver said.

"Who's William?" Anna asked.

"Oliver's son and he's in a different town with a different name and a different address. I'd be surprised if Chase even knows about William," Felicity said.

"When he was holding me captive, he...showed me a picture of him," Oliver said as a heart-broken look crossed his face.

"What? Does he-" Felicity started to ask in alarm.

"He doesn't know where he is...Yet. We have to get out of here," Oliver said, looking around.

"Cisco's original blueprints are in that cabinet," Felicity said, pointing to a metal cabinet. Anna ran to it and pulled out papers. She handed them to Oliver, who skimmed them.

Lyla Diggle entered the living room to find John asleep on the couch. Since there falling out over Anna Post and her father, Cayden James, Johnnie had been sleeping on the couch and not with her. "If you're just gonna stand there, you might as well say something," John said, indicating that he was as awake as she was.

"I thought you were sleeping," Lyla said in a thin voice. She hated it when John was mad at her. Even though she felt justified in what she did, the tense silence between them was painful.

John turned to face her. "I couldn't sleep," John admitted.

"I know you're upset. I know you think I've violated some kind of trust between us, but-," Lyla started to say. John then interrupted.

"Lyla. When you said that you wouldn't become like Amanda Waller, I was worried about you," John said, sitting up.

"I'm fine. You're the one who seems to have a problem with the way that I've been running A.R.G.U.S., which is particularly interesting to me since neither one of us has a job that fits the conventional definition of morality," Lyla said, starting to get angry when John scoffed at that.

"Well, what's that supposed to mean?" John asked, getting up.

"You're upset because A.R.G.U.S. is locking people up without due process when you and Oliver and your team of masked recruits has been playing judge and jury for years now," Lyla said, her voice raising.

"Lyla, I can't believe you'd actually compare Team Arrow to this...this...this clandestine government superagency!" John spluttered angrily.

"Well, I just did!" Lyla shouted.

"Heh," John said as someone knocked on the door.

"Hello? Diggle family? Anybody home?" Curtis called through the door. John went to the peephole and looked out to see Curtis, Dinah, and Rene.

"I definitely heard Lyla yelling," Curtis said to Rene and Dinah.

"Knock...Knock again," Rene said quietly. John then opened the door.

"Didn't know we were having a party," Lyla said stiffly, her arms folded over her chest.

"I'm sensing a lot of marital tension," Rene said.

"What do you guys want?" John asked as angry as Lyla was feeling.

"So sorry to interrupt. There's a problem at the bunker," Dinah said. John looked at Lyla and they left the apartment hurriedly following Curtis, Rene, and Dinah.
