Chapter 4
After all the girls had gathered in the Great Hall, Mr. Soloman walked in with his usual entrance of,
"Hello ladies, I am glad to see you have all packed in the time limit assigned. Please follow me."
There's simply nothing like his bluntness. All of Cammie's class followed him outside, onto the lawn, where a helicopter lay in wait.
"Your bags will be taken in a separate container, and you will receive them back for your stay. Please enter the helicopter, place the blindfolds over your eyes, and settle in. You've got a long ride ahead of you." Soloman said briskly.
Somewhere north of Virginia, around two hours later
The girls started shifting in their seats, after feeling the helicopter start its descent to land. Cammie could feel her seat partner, Bex, grab her hand as the helicopter suddenly dropped a few feet.
"What's going on?" Bex asked, looking at Cammie.
"I can't tell with these stupid blindfolds on. Can we please take them off now Mr. Soloman?" Cammie asked, reaching around for her blindfold.
"Just five more minutes, and we'll be at our destination," he replied, with a voice as cool as a cucumber. "Just remain calm and we'll be finished soon."
"Oh yeah, I'll be so calm, especially when we crash because of the way this pilot is driving," Bex whispered to Cammie, who giggled in response. Soloman shot her a stink eye, which she couldn't see, but still felt.
The girls felt the helicopter land nearly two minutes later according to their internal clocks. As the doors opened, the smell of pine trees and clear air filled the girls' nostrils.
Soloman had allowed the girls to remove their blindfolds after the doors opened, and so the girls were looking around at the wide expanse of tall green pine trees. Well, that definitely explained the smell. The class started to look around and discovered a large two-story cabin off to the side.
"This is where you'll be staying until the pilot comes back for you," Soloman said briskly. "Your bags have already been dropped off, and there will be four girls to a room. Somewhere in the house is a credit card, which you may use to do some online shopping. I will personally pick up all orders, and bring them back within two days. As I expect you already know, the fifteen of you will be visiting Gallagher's counterpart, the Blackthorne Institute for Boys. You will stay here for a semester, and will most likely take the same finals as the Blackthorne students. Now, uniforms are optional, but if you do choose to free dress, do NOT overdo it," Soloman said, with a pointed glance at Macey. "Yes, these are boys, but they are spies. They are not normal. I would recommend watching each others back. The pilot will come to pick you up for your first day in a week. Until then, please come up with an entrance plan, and be packed and ready to go. Goodbye ladies," Soloman said as he ended his speech. He walked towards the helicopter, which was hovering, ready to take off. Soloman jumped in, strapping himself in as it lifted off.
"Well, that sure was enlightening," Cammie said, in response to the speech. The other girls looked toward her, nodding their heads and laughing.
"Now that he's gone, let's go into the cabin and see what we're working with. Everyone find some roommates and get settled into your rooms. I expect Solomans' already given us the pleasure of dropping bags in rooms, so find yours and unpack. Keep in mind we'll be leaving in a few days, so don't make too much mess. Let's all meet downstairs in the living room in about 10 minutes. And if anyone finds the credit card, bring that too," Macey said, immediately taking charge of the situation.
The girls ran towards the cabin, quickly running up the wooden porch and unlocking the door with the key found under the doormat. As they entered the door, a cozy feeling immediately set over them. The cabin was beautifully constructed of dark and light woods, and had pops of red from decorations featured around the house. The high vaulted ceilings gave the impression of lots of space. Cammie led the way into the kitchen, which was done rustically and had modern appliances for daily use. Through another doorway, the girls found the living room, which had a large fireplace surrounded by comfy couches and bookshelves. Cammie could practically hear Liz's sigh as she gazed at the books just waiting to be read. The staircase to the next level was also in the living room, and the girls made their way up to find a loft. As they walked across the loft, doors appeared down the hallway. There were four bedrooms, each connected with a jack and jill bathroom. Walking into the different rooms, each was found to have two sets of bunk beds, a desk, and a dresser. The bathrooms contained all of the usual necessities.
"Okay girls, pick a room like Macey said, and then start to unpack. If anyone finishes early, look for the card. Liz is also going to start setting up some of her computers in the living room so we can start shopping and get some food. See you all soon!" Cammie said, and started walking towards the room that held Bex, Liz, Macey, and her's luggage.
CAMMIE POV
Cammie unpacked her small duffle, glad she had previously unpacked some of the items Macey had put in. Some things just weren't necessary, you know? She layed out her clothes in the top drawer of the dresser, and put away her things in the bathroom. On her short walk back into the room, she noticed a small crack in the plaster between the door frame and the wall. Picking it open with her fingers, she felt a thin piece of plastic emerge, accompanied with a note taped to it. She opened the note and read :
" Hello ladies. On this note you will find the number to a burn phone I own. Please only call in the case of an emergency. Soloman."
Cammie put aside the note, and looked at the plastic, unsurprised to see the credit card.
"Girls, I found the card!" She shouted down the hall, and heard responses back. Cammie finished the walk back to her room and sat on her bottom bunk, waiting for her friends to stop unpacking. Once they were finally finished, they headed downstairs to start on the entrance plan and their shopping.
