Chapter 15

The alarms rung the next morning, signaling the start of the day. Cammie and Bex woke up first, Bex mostly because she wanted to see her new boyfriend, Grant. She spent an exorbitant amount of time in the bathroom, styling and restyling her hair until it was perfect. Or she tried to, at least. Liz and Cammie unscrewed the bathroom door hinges so they could get in and begin to get ready too. As they were all brushing their teeth, Macey was starting to ask questions about how late Cammie got back.

"We didn't even see you come in Cam. Where were you?" she asked.

"I got back at like 11:15, I was walking around," Cammie said, rinsing her mouth out. Bex and Liz looked at each other, then back at Cammie with their eyebrows cocked. "I don't know why you're looking at me like that, I truly was walking around."

"Is that your final answer Cameron?" Bex said, holding out a pretend microphone. Cammie rolled her eyes.

"I was with Zach too. We weren't doing anything though if that's what you're thinking," she said, pointing a finger at Macey.

"Are you sure? You know you can tell us anything, right Cam?" Macey asked, moving closer to Cammie.

"Oh I'm very sure Macey, now if you'll excuse me, I did nothing wrong," Cammie said, finishing her hair. "I mean, the only thing that happened was he kissed my forehead, and that's not really anything," she said calmly.

The three girls looked at each other, eyes wide.

"Does that mean you're finally going to admit that you like him? Because it's painfully obvious he likes you. And that means we can do date nights once we get Liz and Jonas together, and for Macey to realize that she likes Preston as well," Bex said. Macey shot her a death glare.

"I do NOT like Preston Winters," Macey said furiously. Bex rolled her eyes at her.

"We all see the side glances, Mace. And he got way hotter now that he's been doing Blackthorne's drills." Macey laughed at this one. "So maybe just get it over with and ask him," Bex finished.

"What does that mean?" Macey asked. "Ask him on a date? No thank you. It's bad enough that I grew up with him because of politics. And I think that my parents wanted me to end up dating him anyway, so why rush?"

"Because it'll be fun. Come on, we have our first town day coming up, and it'll be even better if we can all go on like a group date or something. Because as we all know, third wheeling is not cool," Bex said.

Macey thought it over for a second, and finally let out a sigh.

"Fine. But only if Liz does it too. And Cammie. We all know they like each other," Macey said. Liz made pained expressions when Macey mentioned her and Jonas, but started typing on her computer which somehow mysteriously made it into the bathroom. The other three girls knew Liz was probably calculating odds on rejection, or if it could actually happen.

"Bex, maybe you can ask Grant to get Jonas to ask Liz to be his girlfriend," Cammie said. "Or just see where we stand with the guys in general."

"Sure, I'll do it at breakfast. Which we are five minutes late for. Go! Go! Go!" Bex yelled, running out of the bathroom and down the hallways of Blackthorne. The girls speed-walked into the dining hall, only to realize that they were the only ones who hadn't arrived yet. So naturally, everyone was staring at them. Cammie rolled her eyes and headed over to the breakfast buffet line.

"You'd think they would stop staring, I mean it's not like we've just arrived again. We've been here for awhile," Cammie said. Macey nodded in agreement. They walked over to their table, sitting down next to their friends. Today's breakfast was pancakes, served with fresh fruit and assorted juices. They dug in, only looking up to wave at the boys as they sat down on the opposite side of the bench. The rest of breakfast was filled with small talk as they got ready for their classes. P&E was first up, so even though the pancakes were amazing, the girls ate lighter because they didn't want to throw up or even risk throwing up. The girls waved goodbye and went to their respective locker rooms. Macey had supplied them with their second day of outfits, which were all LuluLemon.

"Mace, does Soloman know how much you put on his credit card?" Cammie asked as she put on her shorts.

"Nope, and I think it's better we keep it that way," Macey giggled. "Let's just appreciate that it wasn't declined," Macey winked. The girls finished getting dressed, and laced up their shoes. Stopping in front of a mirror, Cammie tossed her hair into a ponytail, making sure it was tied tightly. Walking into the gym, it was a different setup then the previous day. Separate mats were laid out in six-foot increments. The P&E students were seated, waiting for instruction when the coach walked in.

"Today we'll be doing one on one sparring, so that you guys can start to work on techniques that aren't taught at the different schools. You'll be paired with your partners from yesterday. I expect to see some improvement by the end of class. You're dismissed," Coach finished, and left the room to work on other assignments. Hazel eyes found green ones, and Zach walked over to help Cammie up. She turned to wink at Macey, then left with Zach who was still holding her hand.

"Okay Gallagher Girl, what are we working on today?" Zach asked, running a hand through his hair.

"Well, I thought we were going to be sparring. Isn't that what the coach said?" Cammie asked.

"Yes Cam. Now come at me," Zach said, and got into the ready position. They fought for about thirty minutes, in a continuous stream of kicks, punches and twists. They were perfect matches for each other, always anticipating the others' move. Some of the other students had stopped their own sparring matches, watching the whirlwind happen in the center of the room. At one point, Zach had Cammie pinned down, and had almost made it to the five second tap-out, but then Cammie flipped him over and straddled him, effectively pinning him down. She held him down for the required five seconds and won the match. Sitting on top of him, she leaned over his toned body, and looked him in the eyes.

"That's 2-0, me," she said, and winked. She got off of him and stood up, looking for bruises she could already feel forming. Zach rolled over until he bumped into Cammie's legs. He sighed really loudly, causing her to look down at him.

"Gallagher Girl," Zach whined. "I can't get up."

"Yes you can Zach, you're just being difficult," Cammie said, gently kicking him to try and get him off her legs. He held on tighter, and sighed loudly again. Cammie rolled her eyes, and offered her hand for him to take. Zach smiled and grabbed her hand, pushing himself off the ground. He made it halfway before Cammie let go and dropped him. Zach hit the ground hard, the smack echoing throughout the gym. Cammie gasped when she realized just how hard he fell. Believe it or not, it was pretty hard. He winced on the floor, holding the back of his head.

"Cammieeeeee," he whined. "Whyyyyy?" Her fear quickly replaced itself with laughter, as she saw his hurt expression. Reaching her hand out again, she went to pull Zach up, but let out her own yell of surprise when he pulled her down on top of him.

"Ow! Zach, why?" she said, rubbing her head. She had hit it on his shoulder. Zach was busy laughing, watching her expression slowly go from annoyed to smiling.

"It seemed only fair to return the favor," he said smirking. "I have a question for you, by the way."

"Oh lord, it can't be anything good knowing you," Cammie laughed. An unidentifiable look passed through Zach's eyes as he took a deep breath.

"You know how there's a town day coming up?" he said.

"Yeah, it's all Macey's been talking about. And she talks a lot," Cammie answered.

"Well I was thinking. Would you want to go catch or movie or maybe grab something to eat while we're there?" he asked nervously.

"Zachary Goode. Are you asking what I think you're asking?" Cammie said, a small smile creeping across her face. He shrugged.

"I mean, if you think so," he said, his cheeks beginning to flush pink.

"And are you blushing! I never thought I'd see the day Zachary Goode blushed," Cammie said dramatically. Zach rolled his eyes and flipped himself and Cammie over, so that he was on top.

"Does that mean yes?" he asked, his old attitude starting to come back.

"I mean, I'll have to check my schedule-" Cammie's response was cut short by her bursting into giggles. Zach had made a disgusted face when Cammie had mentioned her schedule.

"Okay, okay, my answer is yes," she said, trying to calm down. Zach broke out into a smile.

"Oh thank goodness, I thought I was going to be stuck with Grant and Bex the whole time," he laughed. Zach got off Cammie, and offered his hand to her. Not dropping her this time, they walked together to the locker room. Zach turned to look at her again. "What time is good for a pickup?"

"We have all day there, so maybe 2? I should be good to go then," Cammie said. She let go of Zach's hand as a group of girls emerged from the locker room, looking at them interestedly.

"Sounds good to me," Zach said, and started to walk to his locker room. As all the girls passed by, he turned to say a final thing. "It's a date!" he shouted.
