Chapter 24

The final days of class passed in a blur. It was a hassle of studying for the final tests of each class, and fending off Macey, who was trying to sneak certain unneeded clothing articles into Cammie's bag. The only test Cammie had been worried about was P&E, but with Zach's coaching and advice, she received an A. Even the sergeant was surprised with how much all of the girls had improved. Once the final test was over, everyone had ran to their rooms to make sure everything essential was packed. Mrs. Morgan had mentioned that they could go shopping in Miami, so Macey had told the girls to pack light. While this may have been great for Macey, it just entailed hours of waiting in the stores for the other three girls. But the one thing Cammie made sure to bring was her camera, which needed to be sent out and developed sooner than later. There were just way to many cute pictures on it of her and Zach that needed to be printed.

"Cam, you're going to bring that red suit from the last town day right?" Macey asked, purposefully trying to get a rise out of Cammie. Cammie rolled her eyes, but decided to go along with it.

"How'd you know Mace? I mean, it just looked so good last time I figured I should wear it again!" Cammie said, reaching into her drawer to pull it out. Macey walked over, and grabbed it out of her hand, throwing it into Cammie's suitcase.

"Then you'll have no problem with me getting more of the same style right?" she said, winking and smirking devilishly. Cammie's mouth dropped open, she clearly didn't think that this was going to be the outcome.

"Mace- NO- that's not what I-" quickly stopping her sentence, Cammie realized her defeat. "You know what, sure. Do. Your. Worst. Macey. Nothing can be as bad as that," Cammie said, folding her arms over her chest. "We have to leave in 10 minutes, I'm going to grab the boys and tell them to meet us down in the Great Hall, okay?" Macey nodded her reply, shooing Cammie away with a hand and beginning the task of reorganizing the clothes in the suitcases. Cammie ran out of the room, her feet sliding down the hallway to get to the common room. The guys were already seating, watching a gaming video and yelling to each other about how they would do better or be better than the person actually playing. Cammie walked to the couch where she saw Zach's hair peeping out of, and bent down over the couch frame to give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Are you all ready to go?" she asked, running her fingers down the side of his neck. He nodded, leaning into her touch, his eyelashes fluttering slightly. Raising her voice slightly, Cammie asked if the rest of the guys had finished packing. They all nodded yes, and she made the suggestion to go out early. As Macey says, it's always better to be early than late. Unless, of course, you're fashionably late. And Cammie, in her Lululemon shorts and Zach's old shirt, was not fashionably late. Zach got up, stretching his long legs over the coach to stand by Cammie.

"I look good on you Gallagher Girl," he whispered, looking at his shirt, grabbed her hand, and started walking down to the Great Hall. The other boys followed, with Grant still discussing the video game. As they walked down the passageways, the air outside was brisk, a far cry from their soon-to-be tropical paradise. As they exited through the gilded doors, a short walk away was the car to take them to the airport. The luggage was already inside the trunk, courtesy of Blackthorne's staff, and all of the seats were popped up in the van. Mr. Solomon would be driving them to the airport, where he and Cammie's mom would fly the jet to the airport in Miami.
From there, they would be staying in a neighboring house next to the groups' that had cars to use. The houses were right on the beach, and came with surfboards and various other ocean activities. The houses were also only a five-minute walk from a pier, that had a touristy boardwalk built into it. There were ferris wheels, a random rollercoaster, and cheesy couple games. The boardwalk also had smaller boutiques alongside it, which Cammie knew Macey couldn't wait to go see. As the five reached the van to head to the airport, they began to settle in for the long ride. Macey, Liz, and Bex all came within five minutes, finding seats next to their boyfriends. Cammie took her camera out, snapping a quick picture of everyone seated, and then felt a strong arm pull on her waist. She landed flat on Zach's lap, where he used his other hand to take her camera out and hand it to Macey, motioning for her to snap a picture. Cammie's face was bright red, and a shy smile graced her face. While she looked straight at the camera, Zach continued his pattern of only looking at her.

"Can't you look at the camera for one of these pictures? I feel like you're always looking away," Cammie said, slowly moving herself off Zach's lap. She settled into the spot next to him, squishing herself into his side to stay warm.

"You know I only have eyes for you, Cam," he said, a smirk on his face as he brushed away her flyaway hairs. She blushed harder, reaching up to place a kiss on the underside of his jaw. The flash of the camera went off again, this time capturing a half-smiling Zach and a partially hidden Cammie. Macey handed the camera back, and turned into Preston's side to sleep on the way to the airport. Cammie tucked her camera into her bag, and turned back into Zach's chest.

"Are you excited to spend three weeks in Miami?" she asked him.

"I definitely can't wait to get into some warmer water, I'll tell you that. And of course, to see you in that red swim suit again," He added, almost as an afterthought. She smacked his chest.

"You're such a perv," Cammie said, giggling lightly. He grabbed his chest in mock pain.

"Gallagher Girl, you can't say anything when you were the one ogling me every two seconds when we went swimming during town day. I know for a fact you love my six pack," Zach said confidently, slightly pushing his shoulders back so that his abs were accented by his shirt. Cammie rolled her eyes.

"I think this morning's breakfast got to you. It's only a four pack today," She said jokingly, feeling over his stomach with her hand. Zach pulled back from her, pretending to cry.

"You're so mean!" he exclaimed, wiping fake tears from his eyes.

"I am not!" Cammie said, swiping her hand at him. He continued to fake cry.

"I think you need to kiss it better Gallagher Girl," Zach said, his smirk slightly showing through his tears. Cammie sighed.

"Pucker up, stupid," she said. Zach immediately lent down and made a kissy face, to be met by Cammie's lips. His hand reached up to graze her cheekbone, another coming up to cup her face.

"All better?" she asked, breaking free of the kiss. Zach's hands remained cupped around her face, his eyes searching hers. He leant back in, giving her another gentle kiss.

"All better," he confirmed, before reaching over her to unbuckle their seatbelts. The airport had arrived in such a short time, it seemed like only five minutes had passed. Solomon dropped them off at the terminal, mentioning to Cammie that the jet would be there in fifteen minutes, which was enough time to grab a snack. He also added that he and Cammie's mom would be flying out later, since they needed to wrap a few things up at the school. Once Cammie and the others reached the Miami airport, a driver would be there to take them to the beach houses. The group walked into the airport, locating the gate. Once they found it, Macey and Cammie quickly grabbed some chips and drinks from the airport cafe so that they'd have some on the plane incase it didn't come with food. Once they met back up with the group, it was off to the gate. The boarding process was extremely quick, and the plane was cleared to take off within twenty minutes. Everyone settled into their seats, and listened to the quick safety briefing given by the flight attendant.

"I could so protect you from a plane crash," Zach said, leaning over to whisper his words into her ear. Cammie laughed silently.

"You definitely could try, but I don't think it would work," she whispered back, grabbing a blanket from in front of her seat.

"Have you no faith in me Gallagher Girl?" he asked, looking down at her with a shocked face. She just laughed, pulling the blanket over the two of them.

"I do, but not so much faith in a plane crash situation," she said, and snuggled into his shoulder. Zach lay down his head on top of hers, but not before pressing a light kiss to her temple.

"See you in Miami Cam," he whispered, and promptly passed out. The three hour flight passed immensely quickly. The pilot was nearing touchdown as the great awakening began, with Macey stirring awake first to quickly check up her hair to make sure it didn't look off. Scanning the rest of the cabin, everyone else was still sleeping, the only other people up being Liz, Jonas, and Grant. The pilot banked, turning to properly land on the runway. The intercom crackled on, alerting the group that they had now landed in Miami, and informing them of weather, local time, and when deboarding would start. As more woke up, the sun shone through the oval windows, casting light on the seats and warming up the plane. Cammie began to stir, waking up as the light centered in her eye. She reached down into her bag, grabbing a bottle of water to sip from. When she moved, Zach's head tilted further down the seat, causing Cammie to attempt to move him back into place. He was dead asleep, and definitely felt like a dead weight. She slowly moved her arm down into her bag, reaching for her camera she had stowed inside previously. Carefully reaching back out with it in her grasp, she set the dial to take the picture, slightly adjusting her body to capture Zach in all his drooling glory. The camera went off, and the picture was saved. Cammie had to stop herself from giggling aloud incase he woke up.

They felt the plane touchdown, everyone finally becoming conscious at the slight impact. Zach startled awake, noticing Cammie was already up.

"Did you sleep at all, Cam?" he asked, rubbing his eye slightly. She nodded, giving him a small smile. "Okay then, wake me up once we've taxied in," Zach answered in reply, and promptly moved up the armrest and lay on her lap. Cammie let out a sigh of annoyance, quickly replaced with a tender smile. Macey began to unload things from the overhead baggage, placing each suitcase down with help from Preston. He finished clearing out one side, motioning for Macey to come grab her things. Each person got up from their seats, grabbing a bag.

"Okay girls! We're going to change in here rather than the airport bathroom, so get out a swimsuit, shorts, and a shirt plus what ever other accessories you might want so that we can just drop our stuff at the house and then immediately head to the beach," Macey instructed, passing out each girls' suitcase. "We'll do shopping either later today or cover it tomorrow."

The girls nodded in response, heading off to the galley area of the plane to change. Cammie zipped open her suitcase, and grabbed the red bikini top with a pair of cut off vintage shorts. She added a gold necklace, her bracelet, and finally her favorite black sunglasses. For a coverup, she put on one of Zach's old Blackthorne shirts, slightly tucking the hem into her top so that it showed off her abs. Putting the rest of her clothes back into her suitcase, she moved out of the galley to make room for the other girls. Zach was stretching, standing in the aisle. Somehow he had already managed to change and grab everything he needed for their trip to the house. Zach noticed her walking over, and held his arms out for her to walk into. He squeezed her tight, resting his head atop hers.

"Who's ready to head out to MIAMI!" Bex yelled, her voice echoing down the small hallway. Liz and Cammie raised their hands immediately, shaking them around for good measure. "Then let's go!" Bex exclaimed, dragging Grant with her down the jet bridge and into the humid streets of Miami.
