Director Jarun Tann's Office
Kandros led William, Sofia and Mal into the room that served as both a meeting place for the Initiative's Pathfinders and the office of Director Tann. "This room serves two functions: as a place for our Pathfinders to rest and share stories between missions and as the office of Director Tann," Kandros said. "Here, you will see trophies from the worlds our Pathfinders have helped make safe for all of us."
"You must really respect them, Tiren...may I call you Tiren?" William asked. Tiren nodded. "And we do," he said. "So much so that when we lost track of all the First Wave arks—and especially when Alec Ryder was killed on Habitat 7, we were afraid that our entire trip all the way out here had been for nothing."
Tiren gestured to the flags that lined one wall of the meeting place. "But his son, the current human Pathfinder, gave us more than hope. He gave us a future," Tiren said. Tann looked up from his paperwork, saw the group from the Enterprise, and smiled. "Thank you, Tiren," Tann said.
Tiren nodded, then left the office. "King William, welcome to the Nexus at last," Tann said. "Thank you, Director," William said before shaking Tann's outstretched hand. "Who are your friends?" Tann asked as he, William, Sofia and Mal sat down.
"This is my wife, Queen Sofia," William said, gesturing to Sofia. "Welcome aboard, Your Majesty," Tann said. "Thank you, Director Tann," Sofia said. "And this is Princess Consort Mal of Auradon, the commander of the Army's space defense corps," William said, gesturing to Mal.
"Welcome aboard, Your Highness," Tann said. "Just call me Lady Mal, Director," Mal said, shaking her head. "While I am engaged to Auradon's King Benjamin and will be Queen upon the occasion of our wedding, I am not of nobility at this time."
"My apologies, then," Tann said. "No apologies are required, Director," Mal said with a smile. "Even after five years, I'm still getting used to the royalty thing myself."
"I have looked over your ship's records from the data link between the Enterprise and the Tempest," Tann said. "Even for a Salarian and with our biological gift of photographic memory and penchant for research and knowledge, it was a interesting read." "Then you know why we are here, Director," William said.
Tann nodded. "The Army of Inter-universal Chaos is in this world, and you're here to stop them," he said. "Exactly," Sofia said. "Pathfinder Ryder and his crew are the key from this world that we need to help defeat the A.I.C. once and for all."
"Do not worry, then," Tann said. "The Scarlett Army has a friend in the Initiative. Any support we can provide you is yours." "Thank you, Director," William said. "Then I would like to ask if some of our ships can dock with the Nexus for supply transfer, repairs and rest leave."
"Of course, Your Majesty," Tann said. "As I just said, all station and Initiative resources are at your command." "Our crews appreciate your assistance, Director," Mal said. "Then just ask the station's virtual intelligence, Avina. I have personally ordered that your personnel files be added to our systems for ease of identification. Try it," Tann said.
"Okay," William said. "Avina, I have a question." A holographic projection appeared on Tann's desk. "Hello, King William. What is your question?" it asked. "On our ship, the Enterprise, there is a bar/lounge called Haruki-ya," William said. "Is there a similar facility on the Nexus?"
"There is," Avina said. "It is named The Vortex. It can be found in the Common Area, near the docking bay where your ship linked with the Nexus. Shall Director Tann call for an escort?" "No need, Avina. Thank you for asking, though," William said.
"It is what I was programmed for," Avina said. "If you or anyone from your armada requires assistance with navigation while you're here, just let me know." "We will. Thank you again," William said. The Avina projection disappeared.
"You must know how to work with a V.I.," Tann said. "The Enterprise has a V.I., or something similar to it, called E.R.I.N., or Electronic Reconnaissance and Intelligence Network," William said. "E.R.I.N. helps with all ship's functions—especially those functions that do not have crew members to provide them."
"But unlike your V.I. systems, E.R.I.N. can do so much more," Sofia said. "The details are in our files." "I see," Tann said. "Well, I'll leave you to oversee your people's needs. If you need any further information about us, you can visit our diplomatic center in the common area near the Vortex."
"We appreciate all your help, Director," William said. "If you'll excuse us." Tann nodded. William bowed to Tann again before leading Sofia and Mal out of Tann's office.

"The Vortex"
A few minutes later, William, Sofia and Mal walked into The Vortex and smiled as they saw the interactions between the people in the room. "Let's sample the local beverages," Mal said. "What better way to get to know the people here?" Sofia said.
William walked up to the bar, where an African-American man in Initiative officer off-duty clothing sat sipping at a tall, amber beverage. "I'll have what he's having," William said to the bartender. "Right away, King William," the bartender said before she set to work gathering the ingredients.
The man turned and saw William. "I was wondering when I was going to get to meet you, King William," he said. "Liam Kosta, Human Pathfinder survey team." "Hello, Liam," William said before shaking Liam's outstretched hand.
"My wife, Queen Sofia, and my friend and comrade, Princess Consort Mal," William added in introduction, gesturing to each in turn. "A pleasure to meet you both," Liam said.
The bartender pushed William's drink up to him. "Thanks," William said before taking a sip of the beverage. "Jack Daniel's Old Tennessee Whiskey, circa 2063 C.E.," William said.
"How did you know?" Liam asked. "I am the heir to abilities that allow me to access the memories and experiences of previous holders of the power," William said. "Hmm," Liam said.
A voice came over the Vortex's P.A. system. "Attention, King William of Cinnabar. Please return to the Dimensional Defense Vessel Enterprise immediately," it said. "You are receiving an urgent message from the Unaligned World of Star Trek."
"On my way, Avina," William said. He reached into his pocket and withdrew an Andromeda Initiative credit chit. "Take an extra 50 credits for your tip," William said as the bartender scanned it. "Thank you," the bartender said.
"See you two back on the ship," William said before retrieving his credit chit and drink, kissing Sofia and nodding at Mal. Then, using the powers of the Scarlett Warrior, William disappeared in a cloud of red mist.

King William and Queen Sofia's Guest Quarters
William resolved in the work area of his quarters and sat behind the desk as a display screen slid up and into place. "E.R.I.N., route transmission for Felchenerow III, William Edward, King of Cinnabar, to this station," William said.
A familiar symbol appeared on the screen, followed by an unfamiliar face. "King William of Cinnabar, I am Admiral Charles Vance, commander-in-chief of Starfleet Command," the man said. "I have been asked by the commanding officer of one of my best ships to relay a message to you."
"Yes, Admiral Vance?" William said. Vance turned to a person out of camera view and ordered, "Patch us in with the Discovery." "Aye, sir," the out-of-view officer said.
The image of Admiral Vance dissolved into a more-familiar face. "Commander Burnham!" William exclaimed with a smile on his face. "It is good to see you again."
"Although it's 'Captain' Burnham now," Captain Michael Burnham of the USS Discovery said, gesturing to the four rank pips on the collar and shoulder of her uniform. "Sadly, though, I do not have the time to explain more than to say that it was about time. I do, however, have more important information to relay to you."
"All right, Captain," William said. "What is it?"
"During our refit upon arriving from 2258 to the 32nd century, Discovery's systems were upgraded to 3189 standard, including the integration of something called 'programmable matter,'" Burnham said.
William was aware of the theory of programmable matter, such as how it can be manipulated into assuming any shape and for any purpose imaginable.
"In researching and getting used to the programmable matter that was integrated into Discovery's systems, I learned that prior to its mass installation on all remaining Federation starships, programmable matter was tested on a ship you would know well," Burnham continued. "Due to its importance to a post-Burn Federation, the programmable matter project was tested on a starship of the Scarlett Army during the time that your late Aunt Scarlett was leading it."
"All right, Michael. Which ship was it?" William asked. Michael tapped the Starfleet insignia on her chest. A blue holographic projection labeled "PADD Mode" and bearing a familiar shape and Scarlett Army Vessel (SAV) number appeared in front of Michael: SAV-1701.
"Oh, my God," William said. "King William to Princess Consort Mal. Inform senior officers and Ensign Kar that they are to report to my quarters immediately!" "Aye, sir," Mal said. "I'm on my way. Attention, all senior officers and Ensign Zenon Kar, report to King William and Queen Sofia's guest quarters immediately!"
"Before you go, Mal, send an urgent message to Challenger Base. Tell Phineas to expect Gavan's Glory II to arrive at his office momentarily," William added. "Acknowledged," Mal said. "Mal, out."
William then returned his attention to his screen as Michael deactivated her holo-PADD. "I presume you know which vessel I was referring to," Michael said.
"I do indeed," William said. "The original Dimensional Defense Vessel Enterprise SAV-1701, self-destructed over the World of Descendants."
"But a needed item to save the multiverse. There is a way you can prevent the original DDV Enterprise from being lost without altering the timeline," Michael said. "However, the Temporal Accords might not be in line with what I am suggesting to you."
"Frak the Temporal Accords," William said. Michael lifted her left eyebrow in a Vulcan-like gesture as William continued: "If the original Enterprise is part of the solution to the problem of the A.I.C., we need to risk it."
As the conversation between William and Michael continued, William was carrying on another conversation in his mind. "Gavan's Glory II, program course to Challenger Base and proceed when ready. Exact spatial coordinates: the station commander's office. Assume configuration Doctor-1. Inform Scarlett Army High Commander Phineas Flynn to step on board. As soon as he is, return here. If he asks, give him the following message," William thought.

Scarlett Army Space Station Designated "Challenger Base"
High Commander Phineas Flynn's Office
Phineas Flynn, High Commander of the Scarlett Army, had just dismissed his senior station command staff when he heard a familiar wheezing and whirring. He looked up from his PADD to see what appeared to be an English police telephone box appear from out of thin air.
A voice then filled Phineas' mind. "Phineas Flynn, High Commander of the Scarlett Army, please step on board," it said. Phineas creaked open the door and gasped when he saw not the Twelfth or Fourth Doctor's control room, but... "You're Gavan's Glory II," Phineas said out loud.
"Indeed," Gavan's Glory II said in Phineas' mind. "I was asked to play a message for you. Please observe."
A blue holographic projection of William appeared at the telepathic controls. "Hello, Phineas old friend," the William image said. "If you'll remember, back in the World of Descendants, I had you, Zenon and Mal activate the original Enterprise's self-destruct system after I ordered Felix to divert all of the ship's power to the transporter in order to beam myself, William Sykes and Gloria through the magical barrier that covered the Isle of the Lost at the time."
The William image smiled at Phineas. "As this message is being presented to you, I am briefing the Enterprise's senior officers and Zenon on a mission we're gonna have to go on. And due to the sensitive nature of it, we cannot use the Enterprise-A to execute it. And before you ask, I have a plan that will integrate Pathfinder Ryder and the crew of the Tempest. Further details will be given to you once you arrive on the Enterprise-A. See you in a few," the William image said before fading from Phineas' view.
As the engines of Gavan's Glory II reactivated on their own, Phineas sat down in a nearby chair and began to wonder what crazy scheme William had in store for him.
