BOOK TWO*CHAPTER THREE

Unaligned World of Battlestar Galacitca 1978

Aboard Battlestar Galactica

Bachelor Officer's Quarters

Apollo led William and Sofia into the Galactica's bachelor officers' quarters. "This is our bachelor officers' quarters, where our unmarried officers and Warriors live when not on duty," Apollo explained. "We have a similar area on ships of the Scarlett Army, Apollo," William said.

A brown-haired man in a uniform identical to Apollo's heard William's voice and turned to see Apollo, William and Sofia. "Hey, Apollo," the man said. "Are these the visitors Colonel Tigh told me about?"

"Yes, they are," Apollo said. "William, Sofia, this is my friend and wingman, Lieutenant Starbuck. Starbuck, this is King William and Queen Sofia of the extra-dimensional kingdom of Cinnabar. I'm just escorting them on a tour of the Galactica while the Council debates King William's proposal to assist in our search for Earth."

Starbuck held out his hand, which William grasped as a Warrior would. "What do you think of the Galactica so far, King William?" Starbuck asked.

"A fine ship with a fine crew," William said. "You mind if I take a puff?" he added, referring to the fumerello in Starbuck's other hand.

"Sure," Starbuck said. William took the fumerello and held it as Starbuck lit a match and touched it to the tip of the fumerello. William then brought the fumerello to his mouth and inhaled. "Not bad," William said.

"If you like that, then you'll like Ambrosa," Starbuck said. "We can share a bottle while I teach you how to play Pyramid."

"Sounds like fun," William said to Starbuck. Then, he turned to Apollo and Sofia. "Continue on the tour. Just let me know when the Quorum has reached a decision," William said.

Sofia leaned in to kiss William before following Apollo out of the bachelor officers' quarters.

A couple hours later, William smiled when he put his hand on the table. "Read 'em and weep, boys," William said. "A full fracking pyramid!"

Starbuck and the other Warriors playing with William groaned as William used the powers of the Scarlett Warrior to send the cubit pot to Gavan's Glory II. "I've created a monster," Starbuck muttered. Suddenly, a voice entered William's mind. "William, this is Sofia," Sofia thought. "The Quorum has reached a decision."

"I'll be right there," William thought. Then, to Starbuck and the Warriors, he smiled. "Sorry, boys, but the Council is waiting for me."

William used his powers to dissolve in red mist and resolved alongside Sofla and Apollo in the corridor outside the Council chamber. "Here we go," William said as Apollo led William and Sofia into the chamber.

After William bowed and Sofia curtsied to the Council, Sire Anton was the first to speak. "King William, Queen Sofia, we have debated your proposal based on your testimony and that of Commander Adama. We have decided to accept your assistance," he said.

"On behalf of my people, I thank you, Sire Anton," William said. William activated his communicator. "King William to Gavan's Glory II."

"Go ahead, William," Mal said. "Mal, the operation is a go," William said. "Inform the Tempest to prepare for a rendezvous with the Colonial fleet."

"Acknowledged," Mal said. "Gavan's Glory II, out." After closing his communicator's channel, William gestured for Sofia to step forward.

"Members of the Council, on behalf of my husband and the people of the Scarlett Army, I thank you for graciously allowing us to work alongside you for the betterment and survival of the Twelve Colonies and the Scarlett Army," Sofia said. "We will soon meet up with the Tempest, a scout ship from the Army that will help Gavan's Glory II escort the Colonial Fleet to a place where the systems on Gavan's Glory II can open a spatial rift—or 'dimensional fold,' as we call it—to bring the Colonial Fleet to Earth."

"In the meantime, while the Tempest is en route, I highly recommend that the members of the Council return to their own ships to inform their colonies' surviving population as to what will happen," William said, nodding his head.

In front of each Council member, a tower of red mist resolved into hard copy documents (in each colony's native written language) describing all that William and Sofia had told the Council about the A.I.C.'s alliance with the Cylons and the plans for the exodus.

"In the meantime, we will retire to our quarters aboard Gavan's Glory II. It has been a long and busy day," William said. "With your permission, of course, Commander Adama?"

"Yes, yes," Adama said. "Meeting adjourned."

The Council members picked up their documents and began to file out of the Council chamber. Adama turned to William and Sofia. "I will have Colonel Tigh call you when we have rendezvoused with the Tempest," Adama said.

"Thank you, Sire Adama," William said. William bowed and Sofia curtsied to Adama before William made them disappear in red mist.

Far from the Colonial fleet, aboard a Cylon basestar, a Cylon centurion walked into the cavernous audience chamber. "By your command," it said.

The chair in front of the Cylon centurion slowly turned so that its occupant was visible to the centurion. "Report, centurion," the chair's occupant said.

"Examination of the raiders we recovered from the Kobol battlefield give a technical readout of the vessel who helped the Colonial fleet force our retreat," the centurion said.

"Let me see," the chair's occupant said. The centurion moved over to a nearby control panel and tapped a few buttons. On a screen next to his chair, the chair's occupant watched as an unfamiliar ship, almost singlehandedly, defeated the Cylon raider battlegroup.

"The Colonial fleet has changed direction from our projected course," the centurion said. "Track them," the chair's occupant said. "By your command," the centurion said before exiting the chamber.

A strange figure approached the man sitting in the chair. "Baltar, my programming has what your species would call a bad feeling as to what...or rather, who...that ship belongs to," the figure said.

Baltar looked at the figure. "What is it then, Lucifer?" Baltar said.

Lucifer, the modified Cylon assigned to Baltar by the Cylon Imperious Leader, looked at him. "Baltar, what do you know of the Scarlett Army?" it said.
