Unaligned World of Battlestar Galactica 1978
Aboard Battlestar Galactica
Core Command Center
Five Centars (Hours) Later
William stood in the Core Command center with Adama and Tigh when Athena reported, "Incoming communication from the Tempest. It's for King William." Adama gestured for William to pick up a nearby communications earpiece and turn his attention to a nearby monitor.
"Put the Tempest through, Athena," Tigh said. Pathfinder Ryder appeared on the display. "King William, we stand ready to begin escorting the fleet to the designated coordinates," Ryder said. "Sounds good to me, Pathfinder," William said, gesturing for Adama to join him.
"Pathfinder, this is Sire Adama, commander of the Battlestar Galactica and Councilor of the Quorum of Twelve," William said. "Commander Adama, it is an honor to finally speak to you, sir," Ryder said. "I swear we will keep you safe until we reach the departure point."
"Thank you, Pathfinder," Adama said. "We will follow yours and King William's lead." "Then, I will head back to Gavan's Glory II and prepare for the crossing," William said. "Good luck to us all," Adama said.
As the display shut off, William bowed to Adama and Tigh and left Core Command.
In the control chamber of Gavan's Glory II, William took his place at the central control platform, while Sofia, Mal, Phineas and Zenon took their positions. "Commander Adama reports that all Colonial vessels stand ready to follow us," Sofia said.
"Got ya, Sofia," William said. "Zenon, what's the Tempest's status?" Zenon looked at her display for a moment, then looked up at William. "Tempest ready to proceed," she said.
"Then, let's go," William said. "Gavan's Glory II, proceed to coordinates 364-carom-230, three-quarters lightspeed," he added to Gavan's Glory II in his mind.
William watched as, on his displays, the Tempest pulled alongside Gavan's Glory II. Meanwhile, the Galactica took position at the rear of the fleet. "Mal, Phineas, keep an eye out for Cylon forces," William said. "I have an eerie feeling that they will attempt any method you can imagine in order to prevent us from reaching the departure point."
Mal and Phineas nodded. William then turned back to his display and ran a quick scan. William saw something that appeared to be a Colonial signature, but he could not be certain.
"Weird," William remarked. "What's weird, William?" Mal asked. "For a moment, I thought I saw another Colonial ship, but it quickly disappeared from my sensors,"William said.
"Wasn't the Galactica the only military ship to survive the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies?" Zenon said. "Not necessarily," William said. "Another Colonial Battlestar, the Pegasus, survived the attacks. However, no one knows where the Pegasus is now," Mal said, reading her own display.
William tapped a control on his panel. "Gavan's Glory II to Galactica," William said. "Go ahead, King William," Adama said.
"Commander, our sensors here on Gavan's Glory II picked up a momentary reading of a Colonial vessel, possibly Battlestar-type, along our course to the departure point. Recommend a scouting party proceed to these coordinates and investigate," William said, tapping a control.
On the channel, William could hear Athena say to Adama, "Coordinates received, Commander." "Apollo, Starbuck, report to your fighters," Adama ordered.
A few minutes later, William watched as a pair of Viper starfighters burst away from the Galactica and quickly disappeared from sight. "I sure hope I didn't send Apollo and Starbuck on a wild goose chase," William said.
Several hours passed without any trace of Apollo and Starbuck. "William, I'm worried about Apollo and Starbuck," Sofia said. "Me too, Sofia," William said.
A beeping erupted from the panel Phineas stood at. "William, I am intercepting a Colonial transmission...Code Alpha," he said.
William shot a look at the people in the control chamber with him. "The Pegasus," William whispered. A couple of minutes later, a ship that (with the exception of the name on the ship's flight pod) was a mirror image of the Galactica began to approach the Fleet.
"This is the Battlestar Pegasus to the vessel claiming to be the Battlestar Galactica," a voice said, crackling over the control room speakers. "Stand to and prepare to be boarded." "I think Adama's gonna want me to be on Galactica to greet the Pegasus' commander," William said before making himself disappear in red mist...
...reforming in the core command chamber aboard the Galactica. "King William, your instincts were right on the cubit," Tigh said.
Adama turned to face Athena when she said, "Father, should I inform the Fleet to go full-stop?" she asked. "Yes," Adama said. "Pass the word to the Tempest and Gavan's Glory II as well."
Athena nodded then turned back to her panel. William smiled at Adama. "I already told Sofia to come to full stop and to say the same to the Tempest," William said. "You see, I have a telepathic link with Sofia thanks to the Amulets we wear." William held up his Amulet of Astris.
"Incoming message from the Pegasus," Athena said. Adama told Athena to put the message through on the display near where he, Tigh and William stood. The face of the Pegasus' commander appeared. "Adama, you old war-daggit, it is you!" the white-haired man on the screen said.
"Cain, we thought you were killed and the Pegasus destroyed after the Battle of Molecay!" Adama said.
William watched the interaction between Adama and Commander Cain of the Pegasus. Suddenly, Cain's attention was drawn to where William was on the display Cain was watching the communications channel on. "Who is that?" Cain said, gesturing to where William stood.
"Perhaps you should come aboard the Galactica," Adama said. "It would be best for us to discuss the business our visitor has with us in person. It'll also give us an opportunity to share the last Caprican-vintage Ambrosa in existence."
"A good idea," Cain said. "My shuttle will dock with the Galactica in two millicentons." "We'll be waiting for you, old friend," Adama said. The display went dark.
