A/N: This is coming out a little later than I wanted but I got busy with school. Hope you enjoy the chapter!

(BUTCH'S POV):

Some of that late August heat still remained on this September afternoon. Walking along the sidewalk with a bunch of people was a little suffocating but at the same time, it made me feel a little bit more normal.

The closer I got to this place, the more I wanted to turn around and fly back home. What the hell did I look like going to a place like this. Especially alone! This was probably some after-school hangout spot. Just walking inside by myself seemed so lame to me. This would probably be somewhere I'd go with my brothers. Even if one of them was kind of an ass.

I tried to think of a bright side to all of this. I'd probably be able to get something if I played my cards right. After reading the coupon that Bubbles wanted me to have, I realized something. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY TO BUY A COFFEE! This thing was practically useless to me. I can't believe that I even took this damn thing. I was such a freaking idiot sometimes!

I gotta remember what Boomer said. Ease up on the grumpiness Butch. So what if you couldn't order anything? At least I could still find some pleasure in driving my counterpart crazy. That was always a plus.

The closer I got to the Café, the more people I could see crowding it. Apparently it was pretty damn popular. Hell, I had to push my way through the sea of people in order to get inside.

Almost every table in here was filled. I got lucky enough to find one in a corner by an indoor plant. The overall style of the place was more of an elegant type. It wasn't like a five star restaurant or something weird like that. The atmosphere was definitely more of a formally casual feel. The design of the furniture held a more eccentric layer to them. It was a really nice place.

A younger woman came over to my table and placed a small menu down in front of me. "Good afternoon to you. I'm Jasmine, the manager of the Golden Cup. I would like to welcome you to the café."

I nodded. "So are there any first time deals or is that not a thing people do?"

"As a first time guest, you'll be offered a free drink." She said with a smile.

Well that was a solid weight off of my shoulder. At least I wouldn't have to admit to being broke.

"That seems cool. Thanks so much."

She nodded. "Anything in particular. Might I recommend the cinnamon spice cappuccino?"

"Sounds pretty decent. I'll take it."

She walked off and left me there to search for my counterpart. I had seen several other servers roaming the place. They all seemed to be dressed in a more fancy style of clothing. The men wore suits while the woman had various dresses on. For a chill spot like this, I had to give them credit for going the extra mile on the décor. The scenery seemed so outlandish for teenagers in their school attire.

I saw Bubbles enter the café and wave happily at me. "Butch you actually came!"

"Yeah well I didn't really have much else to do. Apparently I'm the only brother without a life and friends. I don't really care though."

"Don't say that. You definitely don't have a life, but you do have friends."

I lifted a brow and dared her to go on. "By all means, tell me who."

"Well my sisters and I. We're all close right?"

I shook my head. "That's not even close to being true. You're the greedy thief that stole my lunch, Buttercup derives pleasure from my suffering, and Blossom…" I paused and thought for a moment. "I'm not really sure what she thinks of me. Part of me wants to believe that she cares and is nice to me for that very reason. The realistic side keeps telling me that she's just trying to keep me under control."

By now, Bubbles was sitting at the table as I rambled on about my issues. Her face was in more of a frown by the time I shut up. It wasn't what I was expecting. I thought she'd just laugh it off but she didn't.

"Butch, I know you've been through a lot. I mean with the whole HIM situation. Your whole demon thing was absolutely terrifying. None of us were able to stop you. You literally put me in a crater with no remorse. It was bad for everyone. Even still, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself like that. I thought you'd put that past you by now."

"If I'm being honest with you, I can't just put it past me. That would be stupid and selfish. I'm well aware of what I am. I have to stay on guard at all times. I can't forget what'll happen if I go bat shit crazy."

"You are WAY too dramatic. You can do a lot of good too, you know. I mean, my sisters and I deal with huge threats all the time. You and your brothers would be a big help!" She argued. This girl was a different breed of persistent.

"Tell that to them instead. Leave me out of it. I'm destructive and violent, just like Morbucks said I was. Always have been and always will be."

"I've got an idea! You should go out on a patrol with us!"

I stared at her, bewildered by the prospect of me doing something even remotely heroic. "A patrol? Sounds kinda boring."

She laughed and patted my head. "Don't be all single minded. A patrol could be a lot of fun! Searching for danger, beating up bad guys, saving the innocent! I promise you that it'll be cooler than you think. We can go after my shift! I'll let Buttercup know too."

"Speaking of Butters, where the hell is she?" I asked.

"Probably in the back getting changed into her uniform."

"So she actually wears those girly outfits? You're lying! There's no freaking way!"

"Well yeah. All the women wear them. The male employees wear those suits and stuff. There aren't too many guys here though. Still, I actually think the uniforms are pretty nice."

I shrugged. "They're hit or miss if you ask me."

Jasmine suddenly came back and dropped my hot drink off at my table. "Here you are sir. I hope you enjoy it and have a wonderful rest of your day." She said with a bow.

"Oh Jasmine! What time is it?" Bubbles asked.

"Half past four." She said with a somewhat dirty look that I managed to catch.

"Oh crap! Sorry Butch, I gotta clock in. I'll see you after work."

"Don't worry. I'll be here till then I guess."

The two women walked off and left me to sip the cappuccino in peace. It was a deep, rich, and strong flavor. It had a sweet aftertaste to it as well. This was honestly an amazing drink. I wish I had something to eat with it. Should probably ask if I can cash in this coupon since I technically have a drink. Is cappuccino a type of coffee?

I continued my light and easy sips relatively uninterrupted. That was until the green eyed heroine came out from the back all dressed up in her uniform. I almost didn't believe it. She was standing there with her bright green dress that stopped mid thigh. Her smooth dark hair fell to her upper back and swayed as she walked. To see her wearing something other than boots or sneakers was already enough to shock anyone but fucking heels?! There was no way! Hell had to be a goddamn tundra right now. It was impossible! The toughest fighter actually looked like a...Well I wasn't even sure anymore. I couldn't really think straight.

I watched her taking a few orders across the room with a slightly feminine smile that I didn't think she could manage. She was just so...GOD! I didn't know how to form the words to explain it. Nothing made sense to me anymore. I was certain of only one thing at this point. I wanted her to come over to my table and take my order. Fuck if I was poor. This coupon was gonna have to be enough.

I downed the rest of my drink and let out a deep breath. I lifted up the menu to cover my face and raised my hand with way more eagerness than I was willing to admit.

I heard the clacking of the heels growing closer. My retarded heart rate randomly decided to start picking up as the sweat poured down my palms. I couldn't believe I was nervous. I didn't even know why. This was MY counterpart for crying out loud. I came here with the intentions of bugging her all throughout her shift. Now I was borderline punking out.

"Good afternoon sir. How may I help you?" Her voice was much softer than I was used to. It was freaking scary!

I deepened my voice as much as I could. "Yes uh, I'd like to cash in this coupon." I held it up for her to take.

"I see. What would you like for your free pastry?"

"I'll take a sweet roll."

"Okay and will that be all?" She asked.

"Y-yes! Thank you!"

I heard her shoes clacking as she walked away. I quickly peaked above the menu and stared at her. I didn't want to say it but it had to be known. Buttercup looked incredible. She had that calm, natural look too. No makeup needed unlike the rest of the women on staff right now. This is just how she looks when she's not kicking someone's ass at a sport. Freaking beautiful! It didn't add up! How was she hiding this all the time?

I noticed her coming back and hid behind my menu again. I heard a plate make contact with the tabletop and nearly passed out.

"Here you are sir. I hope you enjoy it! If there's anything I can do to make your day even better than please let me know."

I could think of a couple of things. "Um no thanks. I'm p-perfectly fine now."

"Alrighty then. Have a wonderful-"

"Buttercup! Have you seen the other notepad anywhere?" I could hear Bubbles talking brightly as her voice got closer.

"What? I thought Rachel had it?"

"Nope. She said to ask you." She was speaking right next to me. It was only a matter of time now. "Hmm? Butch, what are you doing with that menu? Aren't you gonna eat your sweet roll?" Oh my god! Why was she like this?!

I sighed and muttered a swear under my breath. "Yeah Bubs, I was definitely planning on it." My eyes slid over to glance at Buttercup who did NOT look happy to see me.

"What the hell are you doing here. I thought I told you not to-"

"Buttercup relax. I gave him a coupon to come here." Bubbles said quickly. I rolled my eyes at that. It was a coupon that I almost couldn't use.

Buttercup gave me an icy stare. "I want you out! Right now, Butch!" She hissed.

I smirked at her before standing up. Might as well have a little fun, right? "Now why would I do that? After seeing you all dolled up like that, I don't think I wanna go anywhere else."

I could tell she was restraining herself. Her face was even turning red. "Get out!"

"No can do Butters. If I had known that you'd be working like this, I might've actually broke out of juvy just to see it for myself."

"Listen to me asshole! I already have to deal with a bunch of drooling idiots from school that come in here taking pictures of us. You are easily the LAST person that I want in here. Now get out!" I could feel the eyes from around the room directly on us.

A shorter woman came walking over to the table with a worried look in her eyes. "Excuse me. Is there a problem? What's with all the commotion?"

"Yes! He shouldn't be here right now! Kick him out boss!"

The woman shook her head. "Buttercup, everyone is welcomed here. People all around the world deserve our cakes and coffee!"

"Ms. Holiday please!"

I cleared my throat and moved to stand before the shorter woman. "Actually, I would be honored if I could have a job here. I know I may not seem like much but I assure you that I am a hard worker."

"Bullshit! You've never even worked before!"

"Now Buttercup, hold on for a minute." The woman started looking me up and down. Then all around. "Tall, in wonderful shape, smoothly skin, handsome features. He's perfect!"

I honestly felt a little creeped out but decided to take the compliment anyway. "I appreciate that ma'am."

"No way! You can't be serious right now! He's a criminal!" Buttercup huffed.

"Ex-criminal." Bubbles corrected.

The lady continued to grope my face while inspecting me. "What's your name, young man?"

"Butch Jojo. It's uh, nice to meet you. Could you stop touching me now?"

"Now Mr. Jojo, do you have any experience in food service?"

"Considering the fact that I've never had a job before, no."

She clapped her hands and smiled. "Wonderful! This'll be like a learning experience for you. We can get the paperwork sorted out later. For now, let's get your measurements and see how you'll look in a tuxedo."

I scratched my chin. "I won't have to pay for it, will I?"

"Of course not! It's part of the job, silly!"

"Well no objections here then. When would I start?"

She started wrapping some measuring tape around me for my width and then took my height. "Hmm...I'd say tomorrow if you can. That would be much appreciated."

"Hell yeah! I guess I got the job covered."

"No goddamn way!" Buttercup screamed in my face. "You're just doing this to spite me aren't you?!"

Sure as hell was. "No! I would never do something so immature. I genuinely need a job. "

"Relax Buttercup. I think it'll make things more fun."

"And how is this douchebag working here supposed to be fun for anyone?"

The blonde giggled. "Seeing you two bicker like an old married couple is like special entertainment. Plus, he would help us attract even more customers."

"How would that idiot help us get more business? People are terrified of him! I mean, look at him!" Buttercup said with her finger in my face.

"I am and you have to admit that he's a good looking guy. The ladies would kill to see the wild child all suited up and tamed. Our female customer count would skyrocket!"

The boss lady jumped up with joy. "Oh I was thinking the same thing! We were in definite need of more male personnel and Mr. Jojo would be a wonderful fit. He may need a bit of grooming though."

"So long as I don't look like a chump I'm down for whatever."

"This is so exciting! Okay okay! You two hurry on back to work. Butch. I'll see you tomorrow afternoon to get you all set up." Ms. Holiday said with a gleeful smile.

"Right. Thanks again." I said back.

She skipped off, leaving me and the two sisters to ourselves. I honestly just wanted to piss off BC for a little bit. Now I sort of got a job. Life sure did work in mysterious ways.

"Well you heard the lady. It's back to work for me. I'll just finish up these tables. Don't dawdle for too long Buttercup." Bubble said before walking off to another table and cleaning it.

"Listen, I really do need a job you know."

"I get that, but did it really have to be here?" She asked with a fold of her arms.

I shrugged. "I don't see why not. Seems easy enough."

"How would you know?"

"How hard is putting coffee in a goddamn cup?"

She scoffed and turned her head away from me. "There's obviously more to it than that! You need good people skills too, dumbass."

"I'm definitely a social butterfly."

She cracked a bit of a grin. "Oh really? This coming from Mr. I'M A STUPID EVIL DEMON THAT NOBODY LIKES!" And there it is...

"So how'd you get the job then? I'd love to hear the reason they decided to hire a fucking gorilla in disguise!"

"You know what? Fuck you Butch!"

I flashed her a wink. "Keep dressing like that and I might consider it." She flipped me off and turned to leave. I watched her with a smirk on my face. She was a pain in the ass, but at least I could say she never bored me. Whether she was pressing me or I was making her mad. It was all still enjoyable to me.

I sat back down at my table and continued my wait for the two sisters. The job they had didn't seem all that bad. Sure it might be a little bit tedious at times and the constant looks both of them got from the horny jackasses that went to our school bothered me for whatever reason. Still, it wasn't all that bad. The place looked nice, smelled nice, and I'd be working with familiar faces. I don't think it would be all that bad.

This wait was absolutely brutal! It had been about four hours of sitting in silence. FOUR HOURS! I was at my limit. I was legit gonna flip this table into oblivion!

When the two Puffs finally decided to walk towards me with their school uniforms back on, I was about ready to blast out through the front door.

"Alright Butch, you ready to go?" Bubs asked with her usual smile. She had some nerve asking me that stupid ass question.

"Obviously! You had me waiting here for hours!"

My counterpart scoffed at me yet again. "No one forced you to stay."

I gave her the bird and focused my attention back on her sister. "So how does this whole patrol thing even work? You said it would be fun so I'm kind of hoping that you weren't lying."

"Oh she was totally lying! Patrols are lame as hell. Nothing ever really happens anymore." Buttercup groaned as she picked up her school bag from a hook on the wall behind me. "Most of the villains gave up a long time ago."

"What? That's impossible! Mojo loved being evil like...EVERY freaking day of the week."

Bubbles shook her head. "Nope. He was one of the first to stop. He sorta lost his spirit when you three got locked away for so long. He hasn't been seen for a while now."

Damn dude. Even Mojo quit? That couldn't be right. I mean, he loved his job, despite how fucked up it was. He really gave it up because we were in juvy? I kind of felt bad for the guy. As crazy as it sounds, that goddamn simian was the closest thing to family that we had. That's why we kept Jojo as our last name. He made the Rowdyruffs and for a while after HIM resurrected us, we stayed with Mojo. He was more of a father to us than that sack of shit demon. I had to visit him sometime. He should still be at his base.

"I kinda miss pummeling all of those random creeps. Townsville just ain't the same anymore."

Bubbles shook her head and sighed. "There's still a good amount of trouble and Blossom still wants us to watch over the city."

"At this point, I really don't care all that much. Just get me out of this café already!"

"That's the right attitude! Now follow me!" The blonde flew out the front door with me and Buttercup following closely behind.

It was starting to get dark out. The sun setting was such a nice sight from above the clouds after being locked away for so long. It was peaceful.

"Hang on! Blossom's calling me you guys." Buttercup said. She picked up her phone and left Bubbles and I waiting. When she hung up, she had a look of disgust on her face. Bubbles was the first to ask about it.

"What's wrong? Is something happening?"

She huffed out an annoyed breath and placed her phone back in her pocket. "Nothing! That's the problem! Is just some bum robbing an ATM. I don't know why we're even dealing with this!"

"Well where is the robbery at?"

Butters pointed east. "It's at a gas station."

"Then it shouldn't take too long. Come on! Let's hurry and take care of it. We can let Butch try some hero work."

"Why me?"

Buttercup snickered. "You scared or something? Why wouldn't it be you. It's simple enough. Stop him from getting away and hand him over to the authorities."

"That's all?" I asked.

They both nodded. "Yep!"

"Alrighty then. If you say so."

I dashed forward and dropped down in front of the gas station. A man with a white grocery bag came running out. His face was covered by a hockey mask. He had a black pistol in his hand and cautiously pointed it at me.

"Holy shit! I thought you were one of those Powerpuff Girls."

I shook my head. "Nope. Sorry to tell you but I do in fact own a pair of nuts."

"Look kid I don't really care about that! Just get the hell outta my way!"

I shook my head again. "Nope. Sorry but I don't think I should just let you walk off with all that dough that you stole."

"What the fuck does it matter to you where I got it from? Just move before I shoot your ass!" He snapped.

I grinned at him and stepped closer to him. I lowered my forehead and placed it against the end of the gun barrel. He looked freaked out, even more so than he was before.

"Come on tough guy. Pull the trigger. Test your luck."

"W-what the hell is your problem? You got a death wish or something?"

"I had to get up close. Didn't want you to miss so I'm helping you out. Now pull the trigger. If I die you get to continue running away and trying to avoid the police. If I don't, then-"

"JUST MOVE ALREADY!" He pulled the trigger and I instantly felt the bullet slam against my skull. It stung a bit but only really ended up flattening once it made contact. I lifted my head up and smirked. He stood there shaking as I plucked the bullet off of me. "What the hell are you made of?"

"As I was saying...If I don't, then you're gonna get punched."

"Wait! I'll give you some of what I took! I'll give you all of it! Just let me go!"

"No can do buddy. There's a green eyed broad over yonder that's gonna talk shit if I screw this up somehow. I've gotta give you to the police now."

"PLEASE!!!"

I smashed my fist into his face and sent him flying into a mailbox. He slumped forward, completely unconscious. I picked up the cash and took it back inside the gas station. As for the crook, he was quickly taken by the police five minutes later.

I flew my way back to a nearby rooftop where the girls were waiting. I wasn't prepared for the sight of a laughing Buttercup and a visibly displeased Blossom. Bubbles seemed rather expressionless.

"Buttercup, it's not funny!"

"Not funny? It was hilarious! I bet that guy pissed himself before Butch decked him in the face."

Blossom switched her gaze to me and I instantly felt remorseful. I wasn't even sure what I did wrong.

"Listen Butch, I'm glad you're helping us with the patrol work, but you can't go around striking fear into criminals before you give them serious head trauma!"

"Wait what?! He shot at me! He was armed and clearly dangerous. I just gave him a light jab is all. Now he's going to jail. The day is save thanks to BUTCH JOJO! Roll the freaking credits!"

She patted my shoulder and gave me a stern look. "I need you to remember that we're heroes. That means treating everyone like their life is precious. We may have incredible strength but that doesn't mean we have the right to bend others to our demands. We need to bring order to the citizens of Townsville, not force it on them."

"Chill out Blossom! All he did was punch the guy. We punch criminals all the time." Buttercup said.

"Yeah but we don't send them to the emergency room because of a couple hundred dollars!"

All this over one thief? Man I felt like crap right now. Pinky was really ripping into me over this. I shouldn't be surprised though. She takes her role as a heroine pretty seriously.

"I'm sorry Blossom. I promise to be more careful with my approach."

"Thanks you, Butch. That's all I'm asking. I know you'll be a good hero."

"Okay, that's enough! Can we please just go home now?" BC groaned.

"Yeah, I really wanna shower more than anything else." Bubbles agreed.

"You two go ahead. I have to meet up with Brick in a little bit. We've got an assignment for our biology class and we need some pictures. I'll see you guys later though." She waved and quickly flew back in the direction of the school.

The fact that it only took ten seconds for my mood to drop back down was insane to me. Seeing her flying back to my redheaded sibling literally reminded me of the first half of my day. Feeling like a loser in comparison to my oh so smart brother was the worst. That hopeful look in her eyes was so painful to see. She wanted to see him. It was way too obvious for me to act like it wasn't true.

"Damn…" I hadn't even noticed the blood dripping from my palms as my fist was clenching.

"What the hell is up with you?"

"Nothing!" I hissed at the raven haired girl before me.

"Nothing my ass. You look like you're about to murder someone. Did Blossom telling you off really get under your skin that badly?"

"Buttercup, just leave it alone." Bubbles muttered.

"What? I'm just saying. Can't have him going crazy on us." She said with a chuckle.

I didn't find it funny. Not even a little bit. "Do me a favor and shut the fuck up. Can you handle that?"

"I don't know. What happens if I can't?"

I glared at her. "Then, you're gonna get beat the hell up."

"Like hell! If you ready to go then do it!" She got a bit more serious. Her hands were ready for action and I desperately wanted to attack. I need this.

"Don't start crying when I bust up that face of yours." I slid into a fighting pose and stared her down. Right before I could lunge towards her, Bubbles quickly jumped in between us.

"NO! We're all going home NOW!" She grabbed Buttercup by the arm, much to her annoyance. "See you tomorrow Butch."

I dropped my guard and watched them fly off. Buttercups yells could still be heard.

"Well shit…" I turned and hopped off the building. I lost my chance at a decent fight. Now I was forced to head back home. What a load of bullcrap!

I wasn't sure why I decided to walk all the way back, but I did. I guess I just wanted to clear my mind. Blossom was doing stuff with Brick, I didn't get to fight Buttercup thanks to Bubbles. I wasn't even sure where Boomer was. Maybe he was still at the gaming club. I didn't really know. Either way, I was on my own now. Or at least, I was pretty sure I was alone.

I kept getting a strange feeling. It was as if I was being watched. I would check behind me every now and then, but I didn't see anyone. On top of that, my body was acting weirder than usual. For some reason my senses of smell, sight, and hearing were all heightened. My skin felt all jittery and my heart rate shot up in the blink of an eye.

"What is going on?!"

"To put it simply, you're being followed by an actual threat to your life."

"You again?! What is it this time?"

"Ditch the attitude. I'm actually trying to help you stay alive!"

"Like hell you are! You've been on my case for the longest time! You're not my fucking buddy so drop the whole kindness act!"

"Lower your voice! If they see you, we'll both be as good as dead! I could care less about you but this body is still my home. Even if I have to share it with you temporarily. "

"Okay, so what's the situation with this sudden stalker?"

"I can't really tell. I don't know who it is exactly-"

"So you're absolutely worthless. Thanks so much for that."

"-BUT I can feel their power. It's wicked and filled with the sick stench of bloodlust. Whoever this is wants you dead."

I was starting to get nervous now. It was the middle of the night and some scumbag thought it would be fun to go out on a hunt. Normally I'd be down for the challenge, especially now of all times. However, the voice in my head sounded way too frightened by whatever the hell was after me. It probably wasn't a good idea to face the bastard head on. I had to think about this. Maybe even listen to the voice.

"So what's the play here?"

"Give me your body. Let me take control and defeat this being!"

"No! Hell to the fuck, NO! There is no way I'm giving you full control! You'd better come up with an alternative!"

"Damn you! Fine...I have another idea."

"Then hurry up and say it!"

"You're not going to like it."

"Can't be worse than your last bright idea."

"You'll have to transform into a demon again."

"Isn't that pretty much just you taking over? I already said that wasn't an option!"

"It won't be like how you were before. Your mind and body have matured enough to handle the change. You should be able to wield the power while fully conscious. You just have to clear your mind and accept the power that's inside you."

"Screw that! I'm not accepting anything that involves me being a monster again!"

"They are getting closer! You don't have much time to decide!"

"I SAID NO! I don't care who it is! I'm not doing it!"

"STUBBORN FOOL! DO YOU HONESTLY WISH DEATH UPON YOURSELF?!"

"Forget it! I'll just fly the hell away as fast as I can. I'm confident enough in my own speed."

"What if they catch you?"

"Then I'll fight my way out of this mess! Now can it already!"

I pushed off of the ground and flew as fast as I could away from the area. I had to have been moving faster than the speed of sound. There was no way they were catching me.

"Don't stop flying! They haven't moved yet, but they are still looking at you."

"How can you tell?" I asked.

"That murderous aura is still present. I can feel them watching. I have no idea why they won't pursue you."

"Who freaking cares! I'm still safe so everything's good now."

"That's not the point. The fact that something like that exists in this world is worthy of panic! You're way too nonchalant about this right now."

I shrugged. "Ignorance is bliss. If I don't know them, I'm not gonna fear them."

Even still...Something clearly wasn't right. Why were they after me and who the hell would dare to challenge a Ruff? It didn't matter now. I was gone and they must've given up. I'll warn Brick and Boomer about this later. For now, I just wanted to go to bed as soon as my body went back to normal.

A/N: Thanks to everyone that reviews. I appreciate any feedback that can help make this story even better. I see you in the next chapter. (Brick is up next BTW)
