Dekomori collapsed onto her knees in front of the ashes, which still let out a few whips of smoke into the light of the sunset. Her jaw dropped as she stared at the remains of the Mabinogion.

"No…" she muttered. "It can't be… you couldn't…"

"I could and I did," Nibutani crossed her arms and looked away. "If what I just saw in any evidence, it's that the world is better off without Mori Summer."

She couldn't help but sneak a glance at Dekomori curled up in the fetal position, her lungs unable to find air.

"But why…?" She covered her face as she began to sob. "Why would you do that? Why would you destroy Dekomori's favorite book? Why… why…?"

She broke down into a mess of sobbing in front of everyone. Rikka and Yuuta couldn't help shooting glances at Nibutani as she observed the sorry state of their beloved Nemah warrior. For a brief moment, the older girl felt an urge to sit down next to her and apologize her heart out, to comfort her, to tell her everything would be all right, to bring back her golden smile. But then…

"Hah!" Dekomori suddenly stood up straight as a spring. She wiped her tears away and put her hands on her hips. "I, Dekomori, had always predicted that lesser-minded individuals such as lowly humans would attempt something on Mori Summer's glorious name, which is why I have created additional copies of the Mabinogion, both physical and digital across multiple books and devices!"

Nibutani's jaw dropped. She then felt an urge to strangle Dekomori and burn that abomination of a haircut.

"Mori Summer may not be as powerful as the Wicked Lord's Eye, but her wisdom, knowledge, and unending kindness far surpass even the most well-educated of humans! She mentored me in the ways of magic through the internet and helped me learn that I, Dekomori, should use my gifts for the betterment of the world rather than my own desires. Even though the Dark Organization struck down her blog, I will keep her wisdom alive even to my grave. She is truly the pinnacle of a person, whose pure heart and gentle voice could even make the evilest of humans tear up in guilt. Why, if I could ever have the pleasure of meeting her face-to-face, then I would have nothing left to want in the world!"

Nibutani immediately stepped up to the girl, her visage glazed with a haunting glare. Rikka and Yuuta instinctively took a step back, noticing the ominous aura coming off of the class president.

"Listen, you little brat. I AM Mori Summer," she said. "I was the one who wrote the Mabinogion you love so much, and I took down my blog because I did something you never did, and that's GROW UP! So, you better hand over those copies right now, or I'll skin you alive and throw you to the fires of hell!"

Dekomori was silent for a few seconds. Then she laughed.

"A likely story. You are only human. Mori Summer is an Exalt of the highest caliber. Why, you couldn't even cast a basic spell,"

"There is one possible explanation, and one solution," Rikka said. "The ritual. If we complete it, we can see if Mori Summer really does lie within Nibutani."

"Ah, of course, Master!" Dekomori pulled out her phone. "I shall recite the Poem of Earth right now!"

Everyone stood in a circle around an increasingly confused Nibutani.

"A-hem!" Dekomori said.

"Earth, at least, builds the new future

Ascending to greatness via tall towers and spires

Raising a destiny that learned from the past

Stirring up life both new and old

Here, a fantastic adventure is sure to begin."

As soon as Dekomori finished reading, a series of sparkling white lights appeared around Nibutani like fireflies.

"My Wicked Eye resonates…" Rikka announced. "She is Exalt. Nibutani's magic is great… but she has something far beyond that. A pure heart… "

She took a few steps closer as Nibutani's eye began to twitch.

"I have not seen a heart uncorrupted by darkness in over a thousand years. But yours was once completely pure, the perfect catalyst for Light magic. And your True Name…" Rikka strained her face as she concentrated on her eye. "Your True Name…"

"ARGH!" Fed up, Nibutani grabbed Dekomori by the collar and raised her so that they were face-to-face.

"Dangit, you broke my concentration!" Rikka whined, but Nibutani wasn't listening.

"I'm sick of your games! Give me those copies now!" she practically roared in the face of her lowerclassman.

"Hah! As if a human could threaten an Exalt as mighty as me!" Dekomori grinned. "Now, if you'll excuse me…"

Dekomori kicked Nibutani in the stomach, who winced and released her grip on her captive. The younger girl casually backflipped onto her feet.

"I'll be going home for the day!" she smiled and headed off. Nibutani grit her teeth as she vanished around a corner.

"UGH! I can't believe it! I got involved in this stupid cult which I technically created, just to destroy a stupid book by going on a stupid date, and then it turns out that idiot has a whole bunch of them! Do you know what?" her head tilted, not in a cute way but in a creepy way. "That's FINE! I'll organize a plan to destroy every last one! I'll infiltrate her home and rid the world of my chuunibyou with fire if I have to! And if am wrong, then let me be struck by the gods themselves!"

Rikka cleared her throat.

"I hate to break it to you, but even a well-organized effort by multiple humans or even a strong Nemah like myself would be unable to destroy the numerous digital and physical copies of the Mabinogion that Dekomori created. The only way to rid the world of them is for her to decide to destroy them. And the only way to do that is to convince her that you are the real Mori Summer. And the only way to do that is to become Mori Summer."

"Huh?" said Nibutani. "I'm sorry, I just can't pretend to be interested, WHO THE ACTUAL HECK ARE YOU PEOPLE AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

Yuuta let out a sigh. The situation was just getting worse and worse. If Nibutani grew too infuriated with Rikka's cryptic nature, then something destructive could potentially happen. He had to intervene, even if it made him sound like a complete weirdo. Though, he was quite confident Nibutani could keep the secret.

"I guess that cat's out of the bag," Yuuta turned to her. "Look, I'll try to put this in the most sensible way possible. The Far East Magical Napping Society isn't only a fancy name, it's the truth. Rikka, Dekomori, and I are all capable of using magic. It's just that humans can't see magic because of the Invisible Boundary Lines. The memories that you have of being Mori Summer, pretending to use magic and communicate with spirits and whatnot, weren't just fantasy, they were real. Your mind has been altered by the Dark Organization into thinking it was fake because their plan is to reduce society to its weakest state so that it'll destroy us all and feed us to demonic entities."

"You too?" Nibutani took a few steps backward before her eyes widened. "This was your plan all along, wasn't it? Bumping into me on the first day, joining the student council, reading aloud the Mabinogion… this was all a plan to get me to join your club full of psychos! And you, Togashi, you're the worst of them all! You act like a normal guy, but deep inside you're the freakiest freak out of you freaks! Well guess what, I'm done with all of you! I quit! I can't believe I actually wanted to be friends with you,"

After her rant, Nibutani was on the verge of tears. Her eyes were red, her fists clenched, and her breathes were deep and heavy.

"I can prove it!" Yuuta said, who was both intimidated and offended. "Uh, Rikka, how do I prove it?"

"We need to get Nibutani to see magic," Rikka adjusted her eyepatch. "In doing so, we'll break the seal that was damaged by the ritual. But Nibutani still needs to accept or at acknowledge the concept of magic, or else it still won't work. It boils down to this: If you believe in magic, you can use it."

"You sound like a cult, you know that?" said Nibutani. Yuuta let out a sigh.

"Cult or not, it's your only chance of getting back to your normal high school life. Heck, I've been jumping through hoops just to maintain mine,"

"Are you guys serious?" she said. "You're asking me to believe in freaking magic? Yeah right, you chuunibyous can go die in a ditch, I have things to do."

As Nibutani turned to leave, Yuuta sat down on the ground, feeling defeated. Rikka shouted after Nibutani.

"This is serious! The fate of the world hangs in the balance!"

"Yeah right!"

"Just remember! To see it, all you need to do is believe in it!"

On her way to find Dekomori, Nibutani cut through the park. It was growing dark, and the streetlights were beginning to turn on, bathing the brick road in a yellow hue. On any other night, she would've described the scene as magical, the perfect backdrop for a trashy romance manga. But tonight, she had Dekomori on her mind.

"How did I get into this mess?" she murmured to herself. "Ugh, why did I have to write that stupid blog?"

Her mind began to wander back when she first met Dekomori on the internet.

Mjolnir Servant: Oh my gosh, it actually worked! Thank you so much, Mori Summer! I never knew that I had these powers inside me the whole time.

Mori Summer: It's delightful to hear that you've escaped the ignorance of mankind, my child.

Mjolnir Servant: OMG, you replied? Qhoiaisdiogihaidgadeeaaettt, I love your work so much! I bet if I study your words of wisdom, I'll become strong enough to beat all of the mean kids at school!

Mori Summer: Listen, young one. Magic powers that come with enlightenment are a rare occurrence in our world. We must not let our temptations and hatred get the better of us by using our powers for evil. If that should ever happen, then we will become just as blind as the rest of humanity.

Mjolnir Servant: Such a wise quote! Adsiogoainoihgoig… sorry, I still can't believe I'm talking to THE Mori Summer! I've been reading your blog for months now. Please, I would love to continue learning under you and helping you spread your words of peace! Anything you say, I shall gladly conduct!

Mori Summer: It is a pleasure to meet you. It's been an awfully long time since I have found another enlightened one…

She shook her head as the memory faded.

"For a while, I actually wanted to meet her in real life…" she mumbled to herself. "But alas, now I have to snap her out of that before anyone else finds out."

She walked in silence for a good while. She glanced at the canopy of trees in the nearby park and sighed.

"It's a shame. If I really were Mori Summer… then maybe I could use magic to fix all this. Like put a curse of misfortune on that little prick. I guess that's why I made that persona in the first place."

I used to love stories about fairies and kind sages. Someone who could fix difficult problems with kindness and magic. I always wanted to see a fairy in real life.

"Maybe… maybe I still do want to see one." Nibutani slapped herself to drag her out of her fantasy. "Focus! You need to find her!"

She continued on her way, listening to the sound of the wind.

"None of that now. While I still enjoy stories about fairies, they're not real, just characters from folklore. Though… I won't lie… it would be really nice if I could see one, just once."

As she walked, she suddenly started hearing whispers around her, coming from bushes or stones or thin air. They were too quiet to completely make out, but she could hear one word repeated.

"Mori Summer… Mori Summer…"

"It can't be…" she muttered to herself. "No, it's just my imagination getting a hold again. Good grief, what's wrong with me? I'm going insane hanging around those weirdos."

The whispers grew louder. From the corner of her eye, she noticed a glint of gold flashing. It was gone in an instant, but another appeared from a nearby bush. She blinked her eyes to get rid of the lights, but they still continued to flicker from here and there. One of the flickering suddenly began to grow larger. It became… a shape… a figure… a… girl? It was a tiny girl, the size of a child's hand. Nibutani did a double take as the figure grew closer.

"Mori Summer… is that really you?" she heard the girl say in high-pitched voice, like gentle music.

"GAH!" Nibutani yelped as the stranger came into full view. It was indeed a young pubescent, though barely a few inches tall, dressed in a skirt seemingly made from flower petals, and two large insect-like wings sprouting from her back.

"Impossible…" Nibutani, blinked her eyes, shook her head, took a few steps back, but the fairy hovered there in full detail. Rikka's words echoed through her mind. "To see it, all you need to do is believe in it. So… to see fairies… you only need to believe in fairies?"
"Mori Summer!" The fairy said, excitedly fluttering into her face. "It truly is you! I had a good feeling about it, but those words prove everything! Everyone, Mori Summer has returned!"

At once, hundreds if not thousands of shining lights appeared before becoming similar small fairies each with slightly different clothes and wings. All of them clamored "Mori Summer! Mori Summer!" with great excitement like children to their mother. Nibutani was shocked, to say the least.

"Fairies? You're… actually real?" she said. The first fairy flew up to her face.

"But of course, dearie! The Great Mori Summer of all people should've known that!"

"But that doesn't make any sense!" she said. "I thought you were all my imagination playing tricks on me when I was younger! Part of my silly chuunibyou self. Also, my name is Nibutani Shinka."

"Oh… I see what's going on here," one of the fairies crossed their arms. "Give her some space, everyone!"

At once, the entire mass of fluttering wings and cute faces receded back into a large golden wave. The fairy who spoke flew up to Nibutani's face.

"Surely, you don't believe that? After what your friends told you?"

"The Dark Organization… Nemah and Exalt… all of that is real too?!" Nibutani exclaimed. "Hold on, I need to sit down."

"Of course, Mori Summer," the fairy said. Nibutani, in a daze, walked over to sit on a nearby bench.

"I'm sorry, I'm still not sure I understand. Could you… explain all of this, please?"

"But of course!" said the fairy. "You are a mage who has lived for a thousand years. Your memories of most of them are gone. You speak for and to fairies. Your words inspired hearts to follow the ways of peace, love, and harmony. You use your great powers, not to destroy or harm, but to create and heal. One day, you will create a paradise known as Shangri-la to bring about a golden age of fairies. And yes, all of that is real."

"Oh my god…" Nibutani murmured. "Oh my god."

"Let it sink in," another fairy chirped.

"Okay, I think I get it," she said. "So… what do I do now?"

"I suppose you should start by trying to convince Dekomori that you really are Mori Summer," said yet another fairy.

"How do you know about that?"

"We see everyone, Mori Summer," a fourth fairy said with an innocent expression.

"But first and foremost," the first fairy said. "We are here, above all else, to help you in your endeavor."

We carry out our sacred duty to assist pure-hearted mages such as yourself,"

At once, all of the fairies curtseyed in front of her simultaneously.

"We are at your service Mori Summer, we shall follow your word to our deaths if we must,"

"So… you guys will do anything I say?" said Nibutani.

"That is correct," said Evelyn. "Because you know what is best for humankind and how to execute it. We await your instructions."

Nibutani took a deep breath.

"Then, I need to get to Dekomori Senae."

"We need not be asked again, cast the spell of teleportation and we shall take you to her,"

"The spell of… oh right!" Nibutani thought back to her Mori Summer days. "A-hem! Ibi me accipere."

Later that night, as Dekomori was about to head through the underpass on her way home, she noticed an oddly dressed figure atop the bridge.

"Mjolnir Hammer!" Nibutani stepped forward, grasping her cheerleader's ribbon. She was clad in her cheer outfit, being the only thing, she could improvise.

"Ah, it's you again, Fake Summer," Dekomori said. "What do you want this time. I already told you, you'll never obtain the remaining copies of the Mabinogion, not while I, Dekomori, still have blood running through my veins!"

"Is that so?" Nibutani leaned forward. "You still don't think I'm Mori Summer?"

"But of course not! You cannot even speak the traditional tongue of the Exalt! And another thing, every time I read out her words, then you start having spasms! If that is not evidence enough, then I simply don't know what is."

"Only because I've grown since then!" Nibutani snarled. "But enough about that. I have evidence right here! Join me, fairies!"

At once, a group of six fairies appeared near Dekomori.

"The Mjolnir Hammer has arrived!" said Caitlyn

"But she does not realize Mori Summer is telling the truth!" said Suzette. By the way, Nibutani hasn't actually memorized their names, I just know by virtue of author powers.

"Please, Dekomori, she really is the mage!" said Suzette.

Dekomori gasped at the sight of the fairies, but her face contorted into a taunting laugh once again.

"I see, you've managed to tap into some Fae ancestry, but the true Mori Summer can do more than just this!" she said, swatting away Lucy and causing the others to scatter. "But I see that you are truly dedicated to your task, something that Mori Summer taught to me. If you truly are Mori Summer, then let us partake in a fair and honest duel. If you can prove to me by your way of combat that you really are her, then I shall gladly do as you say. However, that remains to be seen,"

"I accept your challenge," said Nibutani.

Dekomori grinned.

"Then, let us enter the Overlap, Fake Summer! Reality is rejected!" Dekomori struck a weird pose. "Synapses Shattered! Banishment from this world!"

A green laser-like beam shot out of Dekomori's finger and pierced the clouds. She then summoned her great hammer as Mori Summer threw away her ribbon and braced herself.

"Hmph, typical newborn Exalt behavior, you don't have a clue as to what you're doing!" Dekomori ran forwards and leaped up onto the bridge, so they were on opposite sides.

"I don't care what I have to do! I will prove that I am the true Mori Summer!"

"We'll see about that!" Dekomori started to swing in a horizontal line before raising one of her feet. "Mjolnir Tornado!"

She did a perfect pirouette as she advanced upon Mori Summer who yelped and backflipped out of the way in a manner similar to a trained acrobat.

"Wow, cheerleading practice paid off…" she said. Dekomori cackled.

"What, can you do anything else besides dodge? Cause if so, you're about to be squished!"

Dekomori charged in with another attack as Nibutani was left to weave around her strikes.

"Hmm, this doesn't look good for Mori Summer," said Rikka. She and Yuuta were sitting on a nearby bench watching the two of them go at it.

"What do you mean? I thought she was super powerful,"

"That may be true, but unlike you, Mori Summer isn't a combat specialist. She's a sage, a master of healing and utility magic. And her spells are far more complex than the ones we use in battle. Furthermore, she had another disadvantage compared to all of us."

She lifted her umbrella.

"We each have an item on us from this world, combined with a magical creature from another world. The result is the creation of a powerful weapon. I have Konigin Der Nacht, Queen of the Night, inside of Schwarzsech Prototype MK II. You have the Black Flame Dragon inside your arm. And Dekomori's hair contains all the souls of enemies she has killed, thus why it's so long. Nibutani has yet to attain a proper connection to another world, meaning all of her power must stem from this one. Coupled with the fact that she lacks sufficient memory to use the full extent of her magic, and it's near impossible for her to win this battle or convince Dekomori."

"Are you serious?" Yuuta's eyes widened.

"The only hope she has is if she can manage to combine an object from this world and a creature with magical powers in order to form a weapon."

"Well, it looks like there's only one thing to do in that case," Yuuta stood up and shouted. "Hey! Nibutani!"

Mori Summer backflipped again to dodge the Mjolnir Hammer. She glanced at Yuuta for a brief moment.

"You gotta combine a normal object with a magical creature to make a weapon if you're gonna stand a chance!"

"A weapon?" Nibutani blinked as she avoided another blow.

"I've had enough games! Lunatic Mjolnir Crusher!" Dekomori front flipped and swung her hammer downwards.

"Fairies to my side!" Nibutani shouted. The sound of several tiny voices squeaking agreement was heard, followed by a series of golden sparks shining from her pom-poms on her belt. Instinctively, she grabbed them both and watched in amazement as they began to transform into a pair of enormous mechanical sci-fi firearms. She stumbled for a moment at the increase in weight before steadying herself and crossing her new arms to block Dekomori. There was a loud clang as gold met steel.

"Impossible! No one can deflect the Mjolnir Hammer!" said Dekomori. "Wait, that's not right… I think it's been deflected before…"
"Oh, I wonder what this button does…" Nibutani gave one of the handles an experimental squeeze. She yelped as a barrage of golden projectiles blasted out in Dekomori's direction. Quickly, the tiny warrior started to twirl her hair, deflecting Mori Summer's fire.

"Hah! You can barely grasp your own weapon! Mjolnir Lunatic Crusher!" she pulled back for another blow.

"Using the same attack again?" Nibutani crossed her weapons. Again, there was a metallic clang, but this time Dekomori smirked.

"You fell for it fool!" her hammer suddenly began to glow brightly. "Mjolnir Lunatic Judgment Knights of Thunder Cross Split Attack!"

"I'm pretty sure that attack name is an oxymoron!" a random fairy exclaimed.

At once, electric sparks started to fizz up across the golden surface of the hammer.

"Festus Barrier!" a magic circle appeared on the intersection of Mori Summer's guard, just as bolts of lightning shot out of the hammer, increasing the force on the barrier tenfold. The mage winced as Dekomori continued her assault.

"I don't care what kind of tricks you pull out; you'll never be the real Mori Summer!"

"I'm telling you…" Nibutani's barrier began to glow brighter. "I am!"

In a blast of green and yellow energy, both girls were suddenly sent flying in either direction. As Dekomori got to her feet, Nibutani was already preparing another round of fairy bullets.

"Mori Summer said that love is the greatest magic of them all!"

Nibutani winced as Dekomori continued to recite the Mabinogion from memory.

"Darkness, light, nightmares, chaos, space, or time… none of that matters, because you can face down anything as long as there are friends by your side!" Dekomori suddenly struck a pose in between each word. "Friendship! Harmony! Peace! Hope! And Love! Those are the true elements of power!"

"GYAAAAAAAAAAH!" Nibutani screeched as she covered her ears. At once, her weapons, disintegrated back into a swarm of fairies as she collapsed to her feet.

"Mori Summer!" All of the fairies exclaimed.

"Fufufu! I was correct!" said Dekomori pointing an accusatory finger at Nibutani. "The holy words of the Mabinogion have vanquished the power of your hatred!"

"Please, make it stop! I don't want to remember!" Nibutani screamed.

Yuuta and Rikka let out simultaneous gasps.

"That… was brutal," Yuuta said.

"Dekomori is a notoriously ruthless individual," said Rikka. "Not only because of her zealotry, but her passion fuels her limitless strength and the power of her hammer. I fear… if her emotions ever got out of control, that could spell doom for the entire world-OW!"

Yuuta flicked Rikka's forehead.

"Don't make things sound worse than they are, or I might believe you!"

"...And that's what happened," Nibutani finished recounting their adventure. The Far East Magical Napping society was gathered in their clubroom for their Monday afterschool meeting.

"So, you're not leaving the club?" said Kumin. "That's wonderful! Allow me to present to you, your own personal pillow!" She pressed a soft pink pillow into Nibutani's lap.

"Thanks, I think I could really use a rest after all that," she chuckled. "Anyway, it's not like I have much of a choice as long as that blonde-haired brat is still causing trouble. But enough about that, at least there's one good thing that came out of all this."

"Here's your iced tea, Mori Summer!" a fairy with a high-pitched voice floated over carrying a glass that easily twice her size.

"Thanks, Fiona," Nibutani smiled and took the drink. "It's so nice having these fairies around. I guess something good did come out of my chuunibyou phase. And hey, what's the occasional magical adventure to me? Just a little adrenaline rush before cheer practice. Keep at it, Audrey and Nikki!"

A pair of fairies was currently beating the dust out of her pom-poms while a third was fanning Nibutani in Saudi Arabian fashion.

"You know their names?" Yuuta raised an eyebrow.

"It's weird," Nibutani shrugged. "For some reason I know their names the second I see them. It's pretty handy, otherwise I'd never be able to remember all of them."

"...Are you sure you don't want to go back to being Mori Summer?" said Kumin "I mean, you looked so pretty in that outfit!"

"EH?" Nibutani suddenly sat up. "Where did you see me in that?"

"Oh, Elizabeth showed me a photo!" Kumin said. One of the fairies pulled out a photograph of a slightly younger Nibutani dressed in a frilly white dress that went down to her knees. Her outfit was some kind of fusion of Grecian and Native American attire with a hint of raw fantasy. Her hair was done up in a bun and adorned with a white veil-like lacey garment. Aside from her gaudy jewelry and mystical-looking expression, the look was completed with a blue rod in her hand topped with a Wiccan symbol.

"I thought I burned that; how did you get it?" said Nibutani.

"Oh, us fairies have the power to store objects in a global pocket dimension that exists in a different time frame," Elizabeth put away the photo behind her back, despite it being three times her size.

Rikka walked over to the group.

"We're leaving soon, is everyone ready?" she said.

"I brought my pillow!" said Kumin.

"Of course, I'm prepared, master!" said Dekomori.

"I brought what you asked me to," said Yuuta. "Though, some of this stuff is kinda-"

"Where exactly are we going?" said Nibutani. Rikka proceeded to turn on the summoning circle and started pricking her finger on a needle.

"We're demon hunting," she said. "Demons allow us to locate the Invisible Boundary Lines, but I can't say more. I'll explain the details in the other realm once we get there,"

Rikka then proceeded to scatter her blood over the circle and she began to chant.

"Faulheit, auch bekannt als Trägheit,

Ist eine Abneigung gegen Aktivität oder

Anstrengung, obwohl man die Fähigkeit hat,

Zu handeln oder sich anzustrengen.

Es wird oft als abwertend verwendet.

Begriffe für eine Person,

die als faul angesehen wird"

Suddenly, the circle's patterns began to shift and swirl like water in a small pool. Everyone watched as the blue light began to turn crimson red, and the magic circle shifted into a haunting portal.

Nibutani was the first to speak.

"Uh, you know what, you guys seem to know this better than I do, so I'm just gonna…" she started shuffling towards the door, but Dekomori rushed to grab her.

"Oh no, you don't!" she cackled and tossed a panicking Nibutani into the vortex. The girl let out a scream as she disappeared within the swirling magic. Dekomori jumped in afterwards, letting out a "Wheeeeeee!" as she plummeted.

Kumin simply shrugged, turned around, and fell backward into the portal, leaving just Rikka and Yuuta.

"Shall we?" she held out her hand. Trying his best not to let his nerves get the best of him, he took her hand. The second he did, she pulled both of them into the vortex.
