A/N: Hello and welcome back to The Life Channel! I hope everyone is doing well. It's finally the beginning of the end. The first arc is coming to a close and Kevin and Jack will tussle before things really get intense. I just want to say that I may take a small break from writing because I will be moving from my home in the next couple of weeks. Of course, I will not leave this story behind because well, this is part one and I'm anxious to get to the final moments between Jack and Kevin. Part two might take a bit longer because I want to really explain what's going on between Kevin and Luna and the Crimson Dragon. Even I am a little bit lost (lol), but I will not let that writer's block get to me! Well, that's that and I hope you all enjoy the next chapter.

Chapter 15: The Fortune Cup Finale Part 1
"Fame and Fortune can blind you as much as loneliness can kill you inside and out."
Leo's POV
I remember that day that my dear sister fainted. She had a duel against a professional and for the first time, I was so surprised at her skills. To add to that, she actually beat him. At that moment, I knew deep down that I would never compete to her level. For a month, she was asleep; some thought she was in a coma. But, she said she was in The Spirit World. At first, I didn't believe her like so many others, but now after facing all that I have faced with Green, I should have.
"Luna! Luna," I called as she laid on the floor unconscious. No one believed that she would wake up again. I did not want to believe that and so I believed that eventually, she would. You can't leave me too, Luna. Our parents left and I felt so alone ever since… But I had you, even though I didn't give you all the attention that I really should have and I'm sorry for that.
My eyes slowly open and they travel to the screen in front of me. "Luna only took 400 points of damage from that attack, but I got a feeling The Black Rose's strategy is about to blossom into something far more terrifying," The Announcer on the screen says and the camera changes to a hurt Luna.
Luna? Why- Why is she still dueling and against the Witch? I try to get up to go help her but for some reason, my body won't listen.
"That attack was just the beginning, so get ready for my Rose Tentacles' special ability to squeeze you into submission. Now, Luna takes damage for the four Ivy Tokens on your field!"
"No…" I say in a whisper. Luna won't be able to take that much damage. Why couldn't I be there for her when she needed me the most.
"This might hurt," The Witch says and I close my eyes. I'm sorry, Luna. I failed you… I failed you dad. I'm-
"I won't let you hurt, Luna!" That voice. My eyes open to that boy that fell in our pool that night. Ke-
"I play my facedown trap card, Princess Protection," he says. "This card prevents you from laying a hand on Luna!" At that, the crowd awes and I raise my eyebrows. A blue bubble comes out from his card and engulfs Luna.
"Fine. Even if she won't take any damage, you will, Kevin. I don't understand why you will waste a card to help her when you can't even save yourself. She will just get in your way. This is the part of the battle that I enjoy the most. Because now, I get to watch the power of my Rose Tentacles and Ivy Tokens bleed your life points dry!" Why would Kevin use a card to redirect The Witch's attacks to himself?
"Incredible," The Announcer says. "Akiza has managed to plant 4 Ivy Tokens to The Dream-Team Couple's side of the field which means she can unleash a quadruple dose of destruction. Lucky for Luna, Kevin has managed to redirect all her attacks to him. Her knight in shining armor will take all the damage for her. Will he be able to withstand 600 points of damage for each attack?" The screen changes to several people behind Kevin beginning to leave their seats. "Woah, it looks like the fans are running for the exits, and who can blame them. Especially after witnessing The Black Rose's destructive powers in her last two duels. I wouldn't want to be in Kevin's shoes right now."
I wouldn't. Not after seeing her that time on the streets with Mr. Amnesia man. She looked really scary.
"Let's see if people keep picking on me after this! Get ready, Kevin!" And the attacks begin. It all seems to happen in a blur. Just too soon, stands a Kevin with 1600 life points and clothes all torn. What's that on their arms? I see something on their arms, but the camera changes too quickly for me to figure out what it is.
Throughout the duel, Kevin spends all his efforts and cards to protect Luna. Even when he gets to 400 Life points.
"He's tough, isn't he?" Leo's thoughts are interrupted by a young dark blue-haired lady. All I can do is give her a nod. "You also did great in your duel against Greiger."
I smile at that. "So, have Kevin and Luna been dueling in my place?"
"Yes," she agrees. "And they are soooo cute!"
"What?" I question in confusion.
"Yup, they are the Dream-Team Couple. Adored by everyone. From the start, they have protected each other. The Knight protects her Princess from anything." I look back to the screen and watch the interactions between Akiza and Kevin. They knew each other a long time ago and now, Kevin is trying to get her friend back. Eventually, Akiza manages to corner Kevin and he has him watch Luna take damage. He failed… I watch his hurt expression and I see tears in his eyes. What raises my attention is when a blue light comes out from his hands.
"He's just like her? He's-"
"Kevin is physic, but we are still trying to get more information on who he is exactly," the lady tells me. "It doesn't really help when his whole past is just a mystery.
Soon after, Luna loses the duel and this time, I yell in frustration. "Luna!" I try to get up again, but the girl next to me begins to speak softly.
"It's okay. Your sister will be okay." I decide to relax and continue watching the duel. Kevin seems mad but his expression changes to sadness. Somehow, he manages to win against The Witch, but what surprises me is the mark both he and my sister have. Just like Akiza does.
No One's POV
"Ladies and Gentlemen," The Announcer speaks up. "The most intense duel we've seen so far has roared to a close. Kevin has defeated The Black Rose and emerged as the winner!" Akiza is escorted by Sayer with her mark glowing brightly on her arm. Kevin stands watching them from afar also with his blue mark glowing brightly. Besides him is Yusei with his red mark glowing with Luna in his arms, her blue mark also glowing brightly. "Now, he faces off against Jack Atlas in The Fortune Cup Finale!"
Yusei grunts, feeling the pain in his arm. Kevin pulls up his sleeve to reveal his and sees it glowing brighter than before. "Hum, Yusei. This is new." He shows him and Yusei nods in agreement.
"What's going on?" He questions and then looks up to the tower where Goodwin, Lazar, and Jack reside.
Up there, Jack speaks up. "So now, you know who 3 of the 5 signers are. Also, Kevin and Luna have their own marks."
"That's right," Goodwin agrees. "So when you duel Kevin, be sure to push him to his limits. Because the power your duel generates will reveal the last two signers and unite you all."
Kevin goes back to the stands to see the rest of his friends. "Guys, listen. You guys should probably go home. Yusei said it isn't safe to stick together." He turns to the other seats that have been destroyed because of his last duel. "Look what happened during my last duel with Akiza."
"Where are Yusei and Luna?" Tanner asks, concerned.
"He went to go see if he can get her some help."
"Kevin. Do you know what's going on? Are you going to be okay?" Dexter questions unsure, looking at his ripped clothes.
He nods. "Yeah. I'm going to keep Luna company. Yusei said he's going to get some answers from Goodwin. Those would be nice." He turns back to his friends. "Yusei said to head to Blister's place and to not stop for anyone."
"Hmm," Dexter says watching him leave.
"I'm sure everything's gonna be okay," Yanagi tells him. "We better do what they say." Tanner stands up. "Follow me and stay close behind."
A few minutes later, Kevin and Yusei stand beside Luna who is laying in bed. There is a nurse tending to her injuries on the other side of the bed.
How are you doing, Luna? Kevin asks her.
I'm okay. I'm just tired. Did you see how our marks are glowing? They are glowing brighter than before, She says in awe. It feels nice.
Kevin smiles. It could be helping you heal.
Yes. That is so cool. A few minutes later, the nurse finishes up her check-ups. "She will be okay. She just needs some rest. I will see if I can find some new clothes for her."
Yusei nods. "Thank you." She smiles at him and she then takes her leave.
Kevin frowns and looks down. I'm sorry, Luna.
Why are you-
I failed you. Because of me you lay on this bed with injuries and ripped clothes. I failed you. Kevin feels the tears in his eyes but he holds them back. Luna smiles and grabs his hand.
After a soft squeeze, she says, Kevin. It's okay. You did what you could and I'm not mad. I'm not sad. I'm so happy that we succeeded with Akiza and I'm happy that I found someone to be my side through all of this. I always dreamt of someone being there for me when I needed them the most. Yes I had Leo and he's my brother, but it feels different with you. I should be the one to be angry at myself for being so weak.
It's Kevin's turn to squeeze her hand now. No Luna, you aren't weak. You are the strongest girl I have ever met. Because of you, I stand here ready to take on Jack.
I'm sorry I won't be there to watch you beat him, she says apologizing.
It's okay. You will be there in spirit and in my heart. I'll know I'll have you by side even if you aren't there with me fighting him on. He watches as she smiles. You should rest, the next match won't be for a couple of hours.
I will. And Kevin?
Yeah?
Thank you.
He watches her for a bit, unsure of how to respond, and then after a few minutes, he sees her soft breathing.
"You seem deep in thought, Kevin. You okay?" Yusei then asks him concerned.
"Oh, yeah. I just finished talking to Luna," he explains. "She's sleeping now."
Yusei raises his eyebrows. "You were talking to Luna?"
He nods. "Yup. We can communicate through our minds. Thanks to Princess Eclipse."
That's when everything between Kevin and Luna; the looks, the silence, and the constant hand-holding, makes sense. "Wow. That's convenient and pretty cool."
He smiles with a nod. "To be honest." A bit later, his expression darkens. "You think I should be mad for what Akiza did to Luna?"
"Are you?"
Kevin ponders on it for a bit. "I don't know. I don't want to blame her for everything. She has been going through a lot and I know she is trying to understand, but I made a promise to protect Luna and I failed her, Yusei."
He nods and then asks, "What has Luna told you about that?"
"She told me that she is happy. Happy that we were able to convince Akiza to stop dueling in pain and sorrow. She is happy that she found someone to be by her side through all of this."
Yusei puts a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry about Luna. You did what you could and I am a bit surprised you are still standing through all of that."
Kevin nods, with a chuckle. "I have to be, for my friends."
Yusei smiles at him. "And for Akiza, we will help her from those Arcadia people, after we get some answers from Goodwin and we deal with Jack."
At that moment, Kevin decides to tell him all the memories of him and Akiza. How he was taken to the Academy after he hurt his parents. He was alone at first, but a beautiful red-haired girl took him by the hand and helped him move forward. After that, the accident happened and they had to leave the Academy behind in fear that they would be separated. Sayer found them one day, and he gave them a temporary home. Kevin closes his eyes feeling the painful memories. But somehow, he can feel Luna's feelings of comfort and care, so he continues. He was happy he found a place where both he and Akiza were accepted. But that didn't last long because one day, Sayer saw what Kevin was capable of. It happened during a duel and Sayer asked him a very weird question.
"Would Akiza miss you if you suddenly disappeared?"
From there Kevin released his powers and from that day, Sayer wanted it all for himself.
"Why would Akiza go with Sayer if she knows what happened to me?" Kevin asks Yusei in anger.
"I'm not sure, but we should trust her. I'm sure she knows what she is doing," Yusei says. Kevin nods, a bit unsure, but agrees.
At that moment, the gang enters the room. "Alright, alright. We just want to see how our little friend is. We won't leave," Tanner tells a few security guards behind them.
"Tanner? Yanagi? Dexter? What are you guys doing here still?" Yusei questions in confusion.
"We tried to leave, but Goodwin's troops and clown highly suggested we stay for Kevin's next match against Jack," Tanner tells him.
Yusei frowns. "Goodwin…"
"How is Luna?" Dexter asks, also concerned.
"She-"
"Luna!" They turn to the doorway to find a very worried boy.
"Leo?" Yusei and Dexter ask.
"Hey, guys." He waves to them. "Is Luna okay?"
"Yeah," Kevin answers. "You're awake."
He nods. "Yup and I have a lot to tell you guys."
The gang decides to leave to the break room to let Luna rest.
"What? I can't believe you beat Mr. Amnesia man and the witch," Leo says to Kevin after he has explained to him what has happened since he won his duel against Greiger.
"Leo, she is not a witch," Yusei reminds him.
"Sorry, force of habit. Wait, are you like her?" He asks Kevin.
He nods, raising up his hands. "Unfortunately, I can't do much at the moment. It only happens at random or when I'm really in need."
"Like in the duel," Leo states. Kevin nods. He thinks on that for a moment and remembers what happened, and that blue aura that appeared around him when Luna got attacked. "Wow, that is pretty cool. I can tell you guys had a hard time." He looks up and down at Kevin's clothes.
He chuckles. "And how are you Leo?"
He smiles. "I am actually great. I still can't believe I managed to beat Greiger."
"How did you even manage to beat him?" Dexter questions. Leo goes into his thoughts for a bit and he frowns.
"I… I don't remember?" He spaces out for a second. "Did you guys see my duel?"
Everyone stops to think for a bit.
"I didn't," Kevin says. "I was somewhere else at that time." Yusei also thinks on it for a bit but for some reason his mind wanders off. "I don't even know either."
The rest of him look at him confused and at each other. "We saw your duel," Tanner adds, "but I don't remember how it went at the end."
"Yeah," Tanner agrees.
"That's weird…"Kevin says. "None of you remember. Not even you Leo?"
He shakes his head. "No…."
"Gramps?" Tanner asks Yanagi. He just shakes his head.
"You think someone is messing with our mind like they did with Akiza?" Kevin asks Yusei.
He shrugs. "Maybe. I'm not sure, but that is very odd."
Kevin then goes off to explain to the rest what he has already told Yusei about his past with Akiza. After a bit of silence to let everything process for the gang, Leo laughs a bit and decides to tell them what he has experienced lately. "Would you guys believe me if I told you that I think I was in The Spirit World?"
"In The Spirit World?" Kevin questions with eyebrows raised. "Wait, do you know Princess Eclipse or Blade Knight?"
"Who?" He asks, confused. Kevin shakes his head and looks down a bit saddened about that. "No, I met this beautiful girl. She was all green except for her dress which was white. Her name was Green."
At that, Kevin's eyes change to green and brown and he begins to feel a sharp pain in his mind. He sees a vision of some lady and a green being of some kind. This looked like an older woman. Yusei notices Kevin's trance and shocked expression.
"Kevin?" He also notices his eye color change. The rest of the gang also see his look and when he blinks, his eyes return to their original red colors. He has tears in his eyes at that point.
"I remember… I remember my mom."
"You do?" Leo asks, confused. "Green is your mom?"
Kevin shakes his head. "No, there was a young lady and a green woman. I… Sorry." He frowns. "I'll be fine. Continue Leo."
He nods a bit concerned but continues.
Kevin's POV
I saw her. I can't believe I saw her. I tried to listen to Leo tell what he has experienced in The Spirit World, but my mind wanders back to my mom and this Green Being. Is she the reason why I am here? Why my parents missing and why I have this mark? I finally know what my mom looks like; a young brunette with long hair and an amazing smile.
Your mom is pretty. I hear Luna's voice in my mind.
Luna? You're awake.
Yes, I'm sorry. Somehow, I saw that vision or memory. Are you okay?
I smile. Yes, I will be. You should keep resting. We'll talk more later. I feel her relax and I imagine myself holding her hand.
How is my brother? She then asks. I heard him yell my name, but I couldn't wake up.
He's okay. He was in The Spirit World like us, but he doesn't seem to know about Blade Knight nor Princess Eclipse. Do you think he was somewhere else in that world?
Possibly. I'm just glad he's okay.
At the moment, I hear Yusei speak up, "We really need some answers. Tanner and Yanagi; take Leo and Dexter back to the stands. Kevin and I will go pay Goodwin a visit. We'll try to stop this duel before things get worse."
They nod, but Leo stands up from his chair. "Can I go with you guys, Yusei?"
He sees his conviction and he nods back.
The 3 of us make our way to Goodwin. In the hallway, two bodyguards see Yusei and one of them tries to call him out. "Hey, the director isn't expecting you."
"Sorry," Yusei says as he reaches to grab him. Yusei ducks and smacks him in the face. "But he's got some explaining to do." The other one doesn't even get a chance to react because Yusei is already punching and kicking the surprise out of him. He goes flying to the wall in a groan.
"Wow," Leo says in astonishment.
"Yeah and that's why I will never get on Yusei's bad side," I respond with a chuckle. We follow him inside.
"Langley, please escort Officer Trudge out," I hear Goodwin say as we walk behind Yusei.
"Is Langley one of the guys guarding the door?" Yusei asks and I watch as Goodwin, who is sitting on a yellow couch, Jack, who is standing in front of Goodwin and besides a young dark blue-haired lady who is by the windows overlooking the whole arena, and some officer, who I assume is Officer Trudge standing behind them, turn to us.
"Yusei," Officer Trudge says with distaste in his voice.
"'Cause he's, uh- He's napping," Yusei continues and he starts to make his way to Goodwin.
"What are you doing up here, Punk?" Officer Trudge questions standing in the way of Yusei. At that moment, Goodwin stands up as two bodyguards enter the room. He turns towards Yusei and sees me and Leo.
"How can I help you, Yusei," he says with a sincere smile.
"Before I say, weren't you gonna throw him out?"
"Aaargh!" Officer Trudge grabs Yusei by his shirt and gets in his face. I look at Goodwin as he nods to his bodyguards. Officer Trudge growls as he is dragged out of the room. "That's it, Goodwin! I'm going to figure out what you're up to. You're goin' down. You're gonna…" And he's gone.
"I like that guy," I tell Leo. He nods, agreeing. "He's funny."
"Time to talk," Yusei begins. "You forced me into this tournament. You forced Kevin, Leo, and Luna to participate. You threatened my friends. We wanna know the truth."
I catch that lady's surprised reaction when Yusei said all that. Even she is kept in the dark. I wonder if Jack knows everything that Goodwin has been doing to us all. I decide to step in to help Yusei out.
"I'm not dueling Jack until you tell us why you've done this," I say to him.
"Ha! Are you guys dense?" Jack questions us as he walks to us. He stops in front of us and rolls down his arm sleeve to reveal a red mark. "It's 'cause of this: this mark."
"Oh, so I wasn't seeing things before," Leo says in excitement.
"He wants The Crimson Dragon's Power and whatever else Kevin and that little girl possess, so he's been trying to gather everyone with its mark," Jack continues. "He got me here by lying to me and buttering me up and manipulating me."
Goodwin closes his eyes with a grin. "Oh, come on, you're making me sound so devious." He opens them. "Jack, you wanted to be the Turbo Duel Champion."
"Yeah, but I wanted to earn that title," he says back to him. "At this point, I'm starting to think that you've been rigging everything. I think your little plan involved setting me up as bait for Yusei."
"Hmm." Yusei looks back at Jack attentively.
"Goodwin knew that you would come after me if I did everything exactly as he asked me to. Isn't that right, Director?"
"Oh, don't be ridiculous," Goodwin rejects as he raises up his hands. "I didn't even know about Yusei until you dueled him that night in the arena."
"Do you honestly expect me to believe this is all some big coincidence?" Jack questions him. "You needed to verify that Yusei had a mark. So you needed him and I to duel with Passion! So you created a situation in which the stakes would be as high as possible."
He then begins to explain how he used to live in the old Domino City that is now considered Satellite with Yusei and his friends. He was one day offered a deal by Lazar who somehow knew about Jack's mark even back then. He was told to take Yusei's Stardust Dragon card which was his ticket to a new life as a champion of the turbo duel. He ended up tricking Yusei and his friends and he got to where he is now.
"Goodwin could never make you the same offer," Jack tells us. "Because you would've never left your friends behind. Not for 'fame and fortune,' anyway. I, on the other hand, walked right into it and by tricking me into taking your card, he gave you a reason to come after me."
He pulls up his arm sleeve back over his mark and then turns to me. "And then you came along," he says to me. "Some mysterious wanna-be hotshot kid who somehow beat Yusei. You have no memories and Goodwin offered you the opportunities to get answers if you beat him. I don't know how you did it, but you did and now, Goodwin has more than he deserves."
I look from him to Goodwin who is silently drinking a green drink.
"I'm not a signer though," I tell them.
"No, you are not, but you possess power like Akiza does and that power he wants."
That blue-haired girl that's been watching us steps forward and turns to Leo, "Do you want to duel Jack instead? Take back your place."
He looks taken back by her question, but he shakes his head. "Oh, no. Thank you. That would be a privilege to duel The King, even though I won my first match, but Kevin took over and he climbed his way up. He deserves the chance to duel him."
I chuckle. "Looks like you got unlucky Jack."
"Oh, really?" He laughs. "Aren't you scared to duel me by yourself now that your little girlfriend won't be there to hold your hand?"
I frown, but I remember Luna's words of encouragement and I make a fist. "In your dream Jack. I will duel you myself and best of all, beat you with my own cards."
He smiles and turns back to Goodwin. "And that brings us all up to speed, more or less. I have a few demands to make."
Goodwin raises an eyebrow at that.
"You got what you wanted and more. Yusei is here and Kevin will duel me, right? I want his little girlfriend to be taken care of by the best doctors we have. I want you to find his parents by any means possible and get them both some new clothes. He doesn't need to be coerced. I want this duel to be legit. No threats, no deals, no gimmicks. Just us."
Goodwin turns to us and raises his glass. "If that's what my champion wants, so be it."
No One's POV
A couple of hours later, Kevin is backstage in the garage with a new black and green striped suit, looking to see if his duel runner needs any care for the upcoming match in a few minutes. He somehow managed to turn his duel runner into a one pilot vehicle. "Somehow, I know how to do that," he says, laughing mostly to himself.
It's just like that day when Yusei didn't know who he was, Luna's voice comes into my mind.
Hey, Luna. What do you mean? Kevin asks, a bit confused.
Well, that day Yusei woke up, Leo challenged him to a duel to see if he could help him remember his past. He somehow knew how to disengage his duel disk from his duel runner, She explains. Somehow you knew how to do that even with amnesia.
I smile. Maybe I was raised to handle how to work around duel runners. I'm glad at least I still know how to do that. Kevin feels the warmth from Luna and he makes sure he has all his cards back in his deck.
I'm sorry, again, I wish I could have been there riding with you to take down Jack, Luna says apologizing.
Kevin smiles. Don't worry about it. We'll have this link to connect us and we'll take out Jack like that. That's enough for me and I know you'll be watching me. It'll be okay. Kevin feels her smile and he finishes up with making the modifications to his deck.
I feel sorry for what happened between Yusei and Jack, Luna says. Can't believe Goodwin would do that to whoever he wants for power.
Yeah, but at least he got us to where we are now, Kevin says. Without that, I probably wouldn't have gotten Akiza back.
That is true.
As much as I despise Goodwin for his threats, his games, and his need to manipulate, I feel that we are just preparing for something much more dangerous.
"Hey, Kevin." He turns around and spots Yusei by the doorway. "Nice suit, you got a minute?"
Kevin raises his eyebrows curiously and he nods. "Yeah, thanks. I was just preparing and talking to Luna. What's up?"
He walks to him and takes out a card from his duel belt. "It's almost time and so I want you to have this." Kevin takes a look and sees Yusei's Stardust Dragon card.
"Woah, Yusei. I-"
"Take it. I know you can take Jack without my dragon, but I want you to use my card to show Jack that friendship is better than fame or fortune. Plus, you'll need all that help you can get," he tells him.
Wow, Yusei's ace card. His dragon is so pretty, Luna says in awe.
Kevin nods. "Thank you. I'll return it back to you soon."
Yusei smiles and raises his fist at him. "Beat him and become the new King of Turbo Duels."
Kevin bumps his fist with his. "That's the plan!"
In the Stadium, The Announcer begins, "The time has come! The Final Showdown is about to begin! The mysterious underdog Kevin has won the chance to take on Jack Atlas!" The crowd cheers at that. "Unfortunately, Kevin's girlfriend won't be joining us for this match."
The crowd awes. "But there is no need to worry. She is doing well now and she will be watching the duel to support her boyfriend in the final match of the Fortune Cup."
Kevin's duel runner comes to the stop at the starting line. Jack's face appears on the screen in front of him. "I hope the suit is to your liking, Kevin. Take it as a parting gift for 2nd place."
He smiles at him and sarcastically says, "I'm so thankful for that, Jack."
Meanwhile, in some part of the stadium, Sayer walks forward, deep in thought. So you're gonna try to summon The Crimson Dragon? You have no idea what you have done in bringing back that boy. This should be interesting.
A few seconds later, Jack's duel runner makes a stop at the starting line besides Kevin.
"This is it. I'm finally going to show you that you don't have what it takes to be the best. Just like I stopped Yusei once, I will stop you too, Kevin."
"Well, prepare to have a tough time because I plan to show you my whole strength," Kevin says. "I just found out that I'm a bit like Akiza so I'll try not to hurt you too badly."
Jack turns his head back to laugh. "You have guts, I will say. Goodwin is hoping that with this duel, the 4th and 5th signers will be revealed."
There's two more like us? Maybe they know something about my past. We have to find out who they are. "Then let's do this and see who else is like us."
"All right, it's time to activate The Speed World Field Spell!" The Announcer says to them. Kevin's and Jack's duel runner says, "Duel mode Engaged. Auto Pilot standing by." A purple circle comes out of each of their runners.
"This is the moment," The Announcer continues. "Will Jack Atlas continue to reign as The King of Turbo duels? Or will he be dethroned by the mysterious underdog who packs quite a punch." A countdown in front of them begins. "It's time to find out!" As soon as it hits the green, both duel runners shoot out of their starting lines. The crowd cheers in excitement.
You got this Kevin, Luna says to her boyfriend.
[Jack vs Kevin]
(4000 vs 4000)
"What do you think, Kevin?" Jack begins. "The roar of the crowd is appealing isn't it?"
He looks around and hears the people chanting out his name. It does feel nice. "I like it. But you won't like this. I make the first move and draw!" He draws a card from his deck and studies his cards. Are you going to go all out Kevin? Luna asks him.
You bet. I won't hold back like I did with Akiza, he tells her. Let's show him our strength and our bond! "I summon out my Princess Hope in defense mode." A blue-haired girl with a purple dress and a blue staff appears with 100 attack and 2000 defense points. "Now her effect. By sending Junk Synchron and Junk Hedgehog to my graveyard, I can automatically perform a synchro summon." He grabs his two cards from his deck and inserts them into a slot on his duel disk. Both monsters appear and Junk Synchron turns into 3 green circular rings that surround Kevin's furry robotic small creature. It then turns into a yellow outline and 2 white stars appear from it. A white beam of light engulfs the stars and from it, a purple robot with a spike hand and big thrusters on it's back appears with 2300 attack points and 1300 defense points.
"That's Yusei's card," Jack says.
"Indeed it is," Kevin agrees. "I play two cards face down and I end my turn."
"In that case-" Jack draws from his deck.
Jack's Speed Counters: 1
Kevin's Speed Counters: 1
"I summon 'Twin Sword Marauder' in attack mode!" A ninja-like creature with swords in its dorsal side on his hands appears with 1600 attack points and 1000 defense points. "I then activate the Speed Spell- Overboost, which gives me 4 more speed counters, Kevin."
Jack's SP: 5
"I also play the Speed Spell- Final Attack'."
*Introducing Speed Spell-Final Attack: When you have 5 or more Speed Counters, you can activate this card by removing 2 of your counters. Double the attack of 1 monster on your side of the field. The selected monster cannot attack your opponent directly and is destroyed at the End Phase of your turn.
Jack's SP: 3
Twin Sword Maruder's attack points increase to 3200. "You may have just scrapped your way to the title match, but those other duelists were amateurs compared to me. Now, my monster is going to give you a proper welcome to the big leagues, Kevin. Go, attack Kevin's Princess Hope!" His monster heads to my princess and I raise my eyebrows in confusion. Why would he attack her if she's in defense mode?
Because, Kevin, Twin Sword Marauder has a very good special ability that lets him attack again, Luna explains to him.
Oh, no.
Jack's monster slashes Princess Hope and she shatters into tiny yellow triangular pieces.

"Oh no, Kevin has taken 1200 points of damage and that has cost him his only speed counter," The Announcer points out. "Jack's attacks are not over because Twin Sword Marauder can attack again if it attacks a monster in defense mode."
"Oh no," Kevin whispers as he prepares for Jack's attack. "I play my fake dragon trap card." Kevin discards Speed Warrior from his hand. "This card prevents my warrior from getting destroyed."
"You will still take damage, Kevin. Go! Double Marauder Mayhem!" Jack's monster slashes at Kevin's warrior and he groans as the pressure around him causes his duel runner to swirl.

"And to end my first turn, I place two cards facedown." At that moment, Jack's monster disappears due to the effect of his Speed Spell-Final Attack, and his speed counters decrease back to 1. "You can't defeat me, Kevin!"
"We will see, Jack!" Kevin draws from his deck. He left himself wide open, Luna. But knowing him, he's expecting me to attack him directly.
Yeah, I'm not sure you should do that.
Kevin frowns and looks at the card he just drew. I can't keep losing anymore life points, but if I can't let him get the upper hand. I know just the card to help me out. "I summon Princess Tamer!" A cute little girl with green ponytails and red bows on them appears with 1500 attack points and 600 defense points. "It's time to level up the playing field, Jack. I tune Junk Warrior with my Princess Tamer-" Kevin's monster glows and it becomes 3 green circular rings. They surround Junk Warrior which glows into a yellow outline. It turns to 5 white stars. "Miracles are created when the moon shines bright in a cloudy dark night. From a legend, White hope shatters the darkness." A white light shoots beside him. "I synchro summon, 'Junk Blue Moon Dragon'!"
A mechanized blue and white dragon with a galaxy pair of eyes appears with 2300 attack points and 2700 defense points. The crowd awes and begins to chant Luna's name. Kevin smiles and feels Luna's warmth in his mind. I feel you by my side, Luna.
Take him down, Kevin. He nods, not thinking twice about it. "Go, Junk Blue Moon Dragon. Attack Jack directly with Miracles light stream of Galaxies!" Kevin's dragon opens her mouth and a stream of purple light shoots out and it slams into Jack's duel runner. Jack groans somehow feeling a bit of Kevin's attack. But how?

"Wait, but how? You didn't take all the damage you would have taken," Kevin questions a bit confused.
"Yes, I played my facedown card, 'Soul of Takers'. This special trap card not only protects me from your attacks but by removing from play your level 2 or lower monsters from your graveyard, I can reduce the amount of damage I receive from your monster's attack by the same amount of attack points," Jack says.
Kevin groans. At least, you got some damage out of him and cost him a speed counter, Luna reminds him. he nods. "I end my turn."
"It's time, we tussle, Kevin," Jack says as he draws from his deck. "From my hand, I summon Dark Tinker!" A strange-looking black creature with multiple hand-claws and various weapons on its various claws appears shrieking with 1000 attack and 1300 defense points. "Then I activate the 'Powerful Rebirth' trap card." His facedown card reveals and from it, Twin Sword Marauder appears back on his side of the field. "This lets me summon back the monster that was destroyed last turn."
Back at the stands, Tanner fist-pumps the air. "All right, Dark Tinker is only level 3 and that sword Marauder is level 4. So he hasn't got the power that he needs to summon his ace card. This is it, Kevin! Take him down!"
"Now," Jack continues. "The monster resurrected by Powerful Rebirth gains 100 attack and defense points, and its level increases by 1."
Oh no, Luna says in my mind with a worried tone.
"Kevin, I'm the best turbo duelist New Domino City has ever seen, and that move that I just made was one more example of why I'm the champ." Jack's Dark Tinker glows and turns into 3 green circular rings. They surround Twin Sword Marauder and it turns to 5 white stars. "And now, I'm going to show you why I'm goin' to remain the Champ-" Besides him, a beam of white lights shoots out. "I synchro summon 'Red Dragon Archfiend'!" A red Dragon with white horns on its side of its head, white claws, and black and red wings appears with 3000 attack points and 2000 defense points.
"Oh, wow," Kevin says in awe as it roars its strength out.
Back in the satellite, I knew that in order to realize my full potential and to climb up from the bottom of the world, I had to throw everything away, Jack thinks to himself. I had to turn my back on the Satellite, on my friends. Nothing was more important to me than being the best. But now, you appear, Kevin, and you're trying to take my throne. Show me you're a real duelist, unlike Yusei who has always put dueling second. He's not a real duelist. He hasn't sacrificed anything. Well, show me what you got and prove me wrong or I will put you in your place.
