A/N: HAPPY 2022! It's been a very long minute and like, to be honest, this chapter was the most challenging one I have done yet. It's a long one though so was it worth this whole wait? I really hope so. To tell you the truth, I would get stuck and I couldn't progress as much as I should have until I sat down one whole night (until like 5 am) and did a simulation of the duel between Kevin and Leo. That's not all, I did include someone else so forgive me, but I felt that it was necessary to include them. Besides that, I really want to promise you guys that I will do more updates, but when I do that, I don't post until like next year lol. Twitch, youtube, and everyday life have kept me so occupied. But that is it, no... I got to write and I will because this story is a priority! As this new year has come with new goals, resolutions, and dreams, I plan to organize myself to have me constantly working on this story. I'm slacking! Ahhhhhhh, but time to change!
I hope all of you do the opposite of what I have been doing. If you got dreams you want to achieve, then do it! If you don't know where to start or how to progress, ask for help. Don't be afraid. Fear only postpones the inevitable. I have a discord on my Profile page, so if you want to talk or chill, you can join. I have a small community of lovely people, and they will gladly be a support to you. They have been to me and I thank them so much.
But that is it, I hope you all had lovely holidays, and if you have read this until here, thank you. Hope you enjoy the next chapter of this story.
Yu-Gi-Oh Kevin's 6th Grade Life
Chapter 17: Chance
"One can't move forward without the other half of their coin!"
No one's POV
Carly Nagisa couldn't believe her luck. Though she believed in her fortune-telling cards and they have not been wrong even until now. First, she was tasked by her chief to find out more information about the former King, Jack Atlas. Her cheeks grow warm at the mere thought of the former King. Good thing she was currently alone in a room at the police station or the sheer embarrassment would be enough to make her go dig a hole for her head.
Shaking her head, she continues her inner thoughts. Former King, not. He is The King to me and nothing can change that. Unfortunately, She couldn't find him alone at all during The Fortune Cup to ask him small questions as a normal reporter should.
Second, things suddenly changed when that new kid joined the tournament. What are you up to, Goodwin? To have another kid participate in a very dangerous tournament alerted her reporter senses. Of course, she couldn't do much since he too was closely monitored by that satellite guy, Yusei. The new "King", Kevin, must be very important since he was given the opportunity to duel in place of that Luna girl after she surprisingly won that first match. Granted, she also didn't think that was a girl by the way she acted. No, after doing a bit more research, she discovered that it was her twin brother Leo who had taken up her spot in the tournament. But then, Kevin and Luna duel The Professor, and everything confirmed her theory. They were special and Goodwin needed them for something.
She frowns and remembers how she was given the task to interview Kevin after the last duel. Of course, it is in her luck that he just disappeared and she was not able to ask him any questions. Thankfully, she was able to question Goodwin shortly afterward. When she asked him if Kevin's glowing mark on his arm was in any relationship to The Crimson Dragon and that White lady's appearance, his surprised look confirmed her theories that Kevin was indeed a very special boy. Of course, his response that it could have been "the sheen of Kevin's Duel Runner" redirecting the sunlight into her eyes, is total bullshit. She rarely even cursed and more in her mind, but Goodwin's secret was a big story and if she got any of that out with proof then she knew her life would completely get better.
And Third, the proof she needed came as a very expected thing. While driving her car, she was able to find Yusei and a dude with a spider mark on his arm. Good riddance that she decided to spend her savings on that duel disk radar. She was able to find them in the middle of a weird duel. Both guys were surrounded by this purple circular ring on the ground and what got her a bit scared was how any damage anyone inflicted was projected onto anything around. But, somehow and someway, she was able to capture footage of that spectacular duel that Yusei was in with her camera. She was even able to see that he too had a mark on his arm, but what was interesting was that his mark was red. That other guy was purple and if she remembers correctly, Kevin held a blue mark. But of course, to her bad luck, if you want to call it that, came shortly afterward. Yusei was smart enough to leave as soon as the duel was over, but she was made to stay behind to help the young boy who had no recollection of anything that had happened those last couple of hours. And to add to the misery, Sector Security appeared and took her in for questioning for all the physical damage that was caused.
And that is how she ended up at the police station. Soon her thoughts are interrupted by a Sector Security Officer. "You can leave now." She nods and exits the room she was in and goes to the counter to collect her things.
"Name?"
"Carly."
The Officer behind the counter nods and grabs a box to his left. "Let's see here…" He puts it on the counter for Carly to see. "This is it, right?"
Carly looks through her things. My purse. My phone, wait… My Camera! "It's not here! It's not here! Gone… Gone… Gone! Come on, stop playing around." She exclaims to the officer. "Where's my camera- My scoop?!"
Just then her phone rings, and she picks it up to answer. A projection of her frantic chief appears. "Carly, what're you doing!? We've been waiting here forever with the front page open! On top of that, Angela of The Daily Duel nabbed a scoop!"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." This couldn't get any worse! Why not put the cherry on top and have someone snatch away the proof she needed to turn around her life? Is keeping this Kevin character a secret from everyone else worth all the trouble?
"If you don't bring back a story, you're fired!" Her chief tells her and then, his face disappears before she can give him a reply.
Think Carly! Suddenly, she gets a very strange idea. Something, she knows that could cost her her freedom, but what else does she have to lose? She smiles at the officer behind the counter and she slowly grabs her things. "Silly me. I may have forgotten it in one of the rooms. You don't mind if I go check real quick right?" She flashes him a smile and knows that whatever she is trying to pull now, won't really work right?
"Sure. Be my guest." He takes back the box and Carly quickly snaps out of her surprising situation. She quickly makes her way back to the interrogation room she was at early and finds the door to the room wide open. She knocks to make sure if anyone is in there and once there is no response, she heads inside and calmly closes the door.
She looks for any clue she can use or any type of lead, and when she sees a box to the side beside a couch does her faith begin to come back. She doesn't know how, but she knows that whatever she finds in there will help her find some answers that she's been tiredly trying to find. And to that, her plan begins to form in her mind because what she finds in that box is a Sector Security outfit. Why would anyone in their right mind leave an outfit like this lying around?
She doesn't question anymore and tries it out. A few seconds later, Sector Security Carly stands tall, feeling great. Wow. Can't believe it fits perfectly. On her left breast is a name tag and when she digs in her pocket does she find a badge. It reads Federal Investigator.
"Wow," She whispers. She smiles and knows what she has to do. She gets her purse bag from the couch and puts in her normal attire inside of it. She then wraps her purse around her neck and makes her way to the door. Just before she can open it, another Sector Security Officer opens the door, and everything in her life flashes before her eyes.
"Officer Kim, there you are," he says. "Where have you been? We need someone to look over the papers Goodwin sent over." He then looks at her in a weird way. "Hmm. I didn't know you wore glasses. They said they would send a black-haired chick but no description of glasses."
She quickly snaps out of it and stutters an answer, "So-So Sorry. Yeah, I need-need them to read those papers. They must have forgotten to mention that. Yeah." She gives him a smile.
He raises his eyebrows. "Well, they look good on you. Anyways, it doesn't matter. Let's go or we both will be hearing from the boss and we don't want that today. He's already pissed that he's gotten more work because of that new King."
Carly doesn't say anything else and she simply nods, following the other officer closely behind. She doesn't know how or why, but now, with this, she will get answers. Yes, the event can wait.
It was all the proof that she needed. Yes, what she found would be the breaking point to her career. Of course, she could not just take the papers and dip. No, after work she made copies of all the information and she acted as normal as any officer would. As soon as she made her way to her yellow run-up car, and sat behind the wheel, did she scream in happiness. She takes out the papers from her bag and decides to go over them.
Kevin came from a small place known as Crash Town. He was taken from his home due to the fact that his people thought he was possessed. Reports said he could control the movement of items with the sheer thought of just thinking it. He could move water with his mind. Just like a psychic. Like Akiza. His parents were trying to keep him on a low profile, but the people were scared.
So they kicked him and his family out of town and they moved to the city. To New Domino City. What was really weird to her was that this happened right before the worst accident New Domino City has heard of. An explosion took out that town and everyone in that town went missing.
He was taken to an orphanage. But his gifts (as Carly would assume) would only get worse. He was then taken and began to attend an academy. Through dueling would he be able to control his abilities.
What happened to his parents? They must have left before that incident. She couldn't find any more clues to that matter. Then there was an accident at the school and he went missing on that day. Carly knew what she had now would open the eyes of the public. She also knew that the town that was "accidentally" destroyed was Kevin's home. Maybe some people went into hiding because of what happened? Does Kevin remember any of what had happened to him? She didn't know, but she would have to search up more later. Now, it was time for Jack Atlas' event.
Carly was a bit surprised, to say the least. The claims that people had on Jack was that he was from Satellite. Of course, her worst Nemesis Angelina would tell Goodwin such rumors right up in his face. She really needed to know and so she dashed out of the party before being cut off by a very beautiful lady, Misty. Carly could not believe that her idol and model, Misty, would just call her on her way out and tell her such very unusual things.
"I can see the shadow of death on you," her voice echoes her thoughts. She shakes her head and focuses on driving to the hospital. "It's saying that you will die soon." If I die, it could be in the most embarrassing way ever.
She can imagine on the last page of the news: An unlucky girl ran over a cliff and died. She shakes her head and tries to focus again on the road in front of her. "But when that happens, we'll be able to find a better understanding of one another," Misty's voice comes into her mind again.
What was the deal with her? Carly was so confused and that's saying a lot because nothing should be able to confuse her with all the street duels she has written about. And she's seen a lot of weird things.
She doesn't know what changed. Maybe it was Misty's fortune-telling or just my luck. But first, she was able to get into the hospital Jack was at without being caught. Granted, she snuck in while wearing a nurse uniform. She couldn't believe no one questioned her or the lack of security.
Second, she found Jack about to leave, but luckily (well not really if you think about it) he was stopped by an officer with a purple spider mark like the one that kid had when he went up against Yusei. He called himself a dark signer. Carly was ecstatic about everything that had happened, but it was not even close to being done.
Third, Carly could not even believe that Jack had let her duel with him against the enemy. She became his hand and she drew his cards for him. That became the main reason why she lived. Now, if death came forward as Misty predicted… Well, she would not mind.
She laughs at that thought as she sits in her living room drinking calming tea. Now, Jack Atlas slept on her bed in her room in her apartment.
After that crazy duel, where Jack won, of course, she was made to take him undercover. "Take me outside now," He had said. He really didn't want to be in the hospital and of course, she obeyed. I hope he's okay and gets all the rest that he needs.
Carly could not believe the day she had today. She found out a bit about that mysterious boy named Kevin; the new King, Jack Atlas was from Satellite, but to her, Jack Atlas would always be her King no matter what, and she managed to be his hands against a dark signer, and safely get him out of the ruckus that was caused afterward. Now, she had work that she had been procrastinating for the past few days and if she didn't want her boss on her ass, she needed to get to it now. Hopefully, tomorrow I can get some answers from my king and I am able to get my boss a cover story from him and Kevin. She sighs and drinks a bit more tea. Why is everything not so easy?
*A few hours earlier*
Leo didn't want to accept the simple fact that Luna was going out with a boy… Is that even supposed to be a thing? Can I even allow that? What would dad say?
Dad is not here. He could hear Luna's voice as all those questions floated in his mind. Before Yusei left, Luna had explained everything to him. She felt safe with Kevin and she liked that idea of having a boyfriend. What did Leo think? He could not even answer that question on his own so he just sat there on the couch trying to look at his cards, but at the same time, trying to decipher the next set of emotions that came with the package of being the big bro that Luna needed. Leo, I am a few minutes older than you so-
Shush. Leo needed to get his mind off whatever was happening. Yes, he was happy for his sister and he was glad that Kevin was there to protect his sister when he couldn't. But, he felt wrong. Like he failed her and now, someone else was about to take his sister away…
Leo shakes his head and decides to settle all this one way or another and for now, that one way involves him and Kevin. He has powerful cards though… Leo knew he could not compare to Kevin's cards so he had to ask someone else for help and that opportunity came when Kevin and Luna decided to accompany Yanagi to the store for some food.
"You sure you don't want to come with us?" Luna asks her brother with her fingers crossed with Kevin's.
He just nods and gives her a smile of reassurance. She gives him a soft smile back and leaves with Kevin and Yanagi. As soon as the door closes, he turns to the dark-blue spiky-haired guy. "Hey, Tanner?" Leo asks as he watches him type away on the keyboard. He's focused on the computer and he felt bad for interrupting him, but he didn't want to keep thinking of it.
Fortunately, Tanner didn't take much and just stopped to focus his attention on Leo. "What's up Leo? Something wrong?"
Leo gives him a small smile. "I'm not sure. I don't know how to say this but…" He trails off and looks down. How should he even ask Tanner? What would he think of him for prying into Luna's life?
"This about Kevin and Luna, isn't it?" He guesses as Leo looks at him with a surprised expression. Leo looks up and he slowly nods.
"How did you know?" Leo asks.
Tanner smiles. "I can see it with how you are acting. What do you think about Kevin and Luna?"
"To be honest, I don't know what to think… Luna seems less of who I know," Leo begins to explain. "She doesn't seem like that little girl who I once had to protect because of what my dad said some years ago. She seems like now, she doesn't need me to do that because she now has him… Kevin."
Tanner nods, acknowledging what Leo said, so he continues. "And then there's Kevin. He's just some kid who appeared on top of our pool, with a mark sooooo similar to that of my sisters. He doesn't have any memories of his past, but he can apparently go to The Spirit World like my sister once did, and then he starts going out with my sister shortly after I go into a coma! I mean sure, I don't really mind. He's doing a far better job of keeping her safe than I did." Leo frowns after the rant and he sighs. "But shouldn't he have asked me or I don't know, asked for my opinion? Like what should I do?"
Tanner smiles and stands up from his chair. "What about this? Let's have a friendly duel with Kevin. Me and you against Kevin. On his own and then, we'll talk it out afterward?"
Leo breathes in and out but then nods. "Yeah. I would like that."
And so, after the rest of their friends got back, and they had a good lunch in awkward silence, did Leo finally suggest to Kevin for a friendly duel. "Me and Tanner versus you, Kevin. Just you…"
He saw him flash a confused look at his sister, but then with a soft smile did Kevin say, "Yeah. I owed you one anyway so I think now would be the best of times to do that."
"Sweet!" They got their duel disks and followed Tanner to the empty gated parking lot beside the apartment. Luckily, Blistered had left them a key to the lock and they were able to get in without a problem.
"Alright, kids and Tanner. A friendly duel and give it your best," Yanagi says as they go to their respective ends and they ready their duel disks. What Leo found a bit odd was how Kevin would look at his sister for a few seconds before he gets out his deck from his belt and places it in his duel disk. Now that he thinks about it, Doesn't he do that a lot? They aren't talking cause he can't hear them or is there something else going on?
"Focus on the duel," Tanner tells Leo. He nods and they both shuffle their decks with their duel disks.
"Alright Leo. You said you wanted a friendly duel but do you want to raise the stakes? I kinda just became The new King of New Domino City and that's a pretty good title to keep for a while," Kevin tells him.
Leo glances at Tanner who just gives him a nod and he smiles. "Yes, if I win, you will stop dating my sister."
"Wait, Leo!" Luna cries over to the sides. She's sitting on a bench with Yanagi beside her.
Kevin just smiles. "Alright, but that is if you win and I know she's your sister, but she's my girlfriend and she means the world to me. So show me how you beat Greiger and I will show you how I won my way to the top for Luna."
Leo frowns and he looks at Kevin to see his expression. He looks really serious. "Let's go then!"
The three of them grab their cards from their decks and say, "Let's duel!"
[Leo/Tanner vs Kevin: 4000 LP]
Leo smiles seeing his Morphtronic cards. When his dad gave him Morphtronic Celfon, he just knew that he just had to build upon that archetype. "I go first, Kevin." He draws from his deck and adds that card to his hand. Perfect. "Here I go, I summon out Morphtronic Celfon in attack mode." A yellow phone with dials that light up constantly appears. Suddenly, it begins to transform into a robotic creature with antennas on the sides of its head and number dials on its chest. It has 100 ATK and DEF points. "The cool thing about these cards, Kevin, is that their special abilities change depending on if they are in attack or defense mode. Since Morphtronic Celfon is in attack mode, it dials and randomly stops between 1 and 6."
Kevin nods in understanding and Leo continues, "Then I take that number and flip over the same number of cards. If any one of those is a level-four-or-below Morphtronic, then I can summon it. Go dial, now!" Leo points to his monster and a number glows yellow. It changes and it randomly switches to different numbers. A few seconds later, it stops at the number 3. He draws the same number of cards and looks at what he drew. He smiles again. "One of the cards I drew is Morphtronic Radion and since he is a level 4 monster, I can automatically summon it!" He places it on his duel disk and from the ground below, another phone appears. It again transforms into another robotic creature with an antenna on its head. It has 1000 ATK and 900 DEF points. "Since it's in attack mode, all my Morphtronic monsters gain an additional attack of 800." Morphtronic Celfon's attack points increase to 900 and Radion's attack points increase to 1800. He then puts the remaining cards he drew back into his deck and it is reshuffled. "I set one card face down and that does it for now."
"I like that, Leo," Kevin comments and he draws from his deck. "I discard my Junk Hedgehog from my hand to special summon The Tricky in attack mode." A creature with question marks on its chest and face and a blue cape on its back appears with 2000 ATK points and 1200 DEF points. "I then place two cards face down and that is it for now."
Tanner nods and Leo thinks for a bit. What can he be planning?
"My turn then, Kevin. I draw!" Tanner does and he smiles for the hand he's got. "I summon my 'Chainsaw Insect'." A beetle with chainsaws as clips on its mouth appears with 2400 ATK and 0 DEF points.
"Wow, that's a lot of attack points for a level 4 monster," Kevin says.
"Tell me about it, Woah," Leo agrees with eyes wide.
"Indeed it is, but now that we all have monsters on the field, I am able to attack you. Go Chainsaw Insect, attack Kevin's monster with chainsaw pinch!" His monster makes his way towards Kevin's monster, but he smiles and plays, "I activate Tricky Spell 4!" His facedown card reveals. Before Tanner's monster can take a bite of The Tricky, it disappears and from the card, 3 similar-like Tricky's take their place. "With this spell, I am able to tribute my monster to summon Tricky Tokens equal to the number of monsters my opponent controls."
"Nice," Luna comments from the stands. "Not only did he boost up his defenses, but he was able to protect his life points. Go, Kevin!"
Tanner looks at Leo, who looks down and frowns. Hmmm. "Nice move, Kevin. I am still able to attack with my monster. Go, destroy one of his Tricky Tokens." His monster repeats its attack and pinches one of Kevin's monsters with its chainsaws. It shatters into yellow triangular pieces. "Lucky you, a downside of having a monster with 2400 attack points is that you get to draw one card."
"Sweet," Kevin says with a smile and he draws a card from his deck.
"I set one card face down and that does it," Tanner concludes.
"It's my turn then," Kevin says and he draws. At that moment, when he looks at the card he drew, his mind wanders to another memory. He sees another boy in front of him. He has blonde hair and he's on a platform.
"Nice moves, Kevin." This boy… I know him. Kevin shakes his head and snaps out of the memory. Crocodile Boy was the card he drew and he knows what he must do next. "I summon this! Go, come on out, 'Crocodile Boy'." A human-like crocodile appears on the field wearing a blue hat with 1000 ATK and DEF points. "Since this was normal summoned, I can activate its special effect which lets me add a specific card from my deck." He grabs it and Crocodile Boy disappears from the field. "Now, by tributing my monster, I can special summon 'Crocodile King'!" Another human-sized crocodile appears wearing a green crown on its head with 2100 ATK and 2400 DEF points.
"That's new," Yanagi says from the stands besides Luna.
Kevin nods. "I actually had it but never thought to use it until now." He raises his hand and continues, "With this card, I can discard a card, and based on the card discarded, my crocodile can harness the hidden shadows to help me out." He discards his Princess Protection Trap card. "Since I discard a trap, I am able to randomly select another trap card from my deck and add it to my hand." His deck shuffles and he smiles at the card he drew. "Go, Crocodile King. Shine your light and destroy Leo's Morphtronic Celfon!"
Kevin's monster shows his claws and he jumps toward Leo's robotic friend.
"I won't let you, Kevin," Leo declares. "Just like you have protected my sister, I will protect my cards." He suddenly frowns but activates his facedown card. "Morphtransition!" His card shines and shoots out a blue light to his Celfon. Kevin's King falls back.
"Not only is your attack negated, but Celfon switches to defense mode." Leo's monster turns into a yellow flip phone.
"Good one Leo!" Luna says from the bench. At that, Leo turns to look at her and he smiles.
"Alright then, I place two cards face down and I end my turn."
Leo nods and he draws from his deck. He smiles. "Let's take a peek at what cards I have for my next few turns. With Morphtronic Celfon in defense mode, I can roll a dice and see that number of cards from the top of my deck. Go, dial. Now!" Leo points to his monster again and a number glows yellow. It changes and it randomly switches to different numbers. A few seconds later, it stops at the number 4. "Yes!" He draws and looks at his cards. "Nice. I already have what I need so any number will do but just to be sure, I play it on top of my deck." He switches Celfon to attack mode. "Roll again!" The sequence happens again and the number it lands on is 1. Leo laughs. "My luck but hey, at least now I get that so next time it will be a higher number." He draws the card and summons it. "Come on out! Morphtronic Datatron in defense mode!" Some kind of orange box appears. It shortly transforms into another robot with a small cannon on top of its head. It has 1200 ATK and 600 DEF points.
"Nice kid. You got 3 monsters on your field," Tanner says with pride.
Leo nods. "Yup and I plan to keep it like that because with Datatron's effect since it is in defense mode, it can deal you 300 points of damage. Go Booster shot!" The cannon prepares to fire and before it does, Kevin activates his trap card.
"Because of that, I can activate this. Princess Savior." A blue aura shoots out of the card and encircles Kevin. "With this, I can cut the damage by half."
The cannon fires a small beam and it hits Kevin. He doesn't even flinch.
(Kevin's LP: 3850)
"And that's not all because now, I can special summon a Princess monster from my deck." He grabs the card from his deck and places it on his duel disk. "Go Princess Tamer in attack mode!" A cute little girl with green ponytails and red bows on them appears with 1500 ATK and 600 DEF points.
"It won't be on the field for long though. Morphtronic Radion, attack his Princess Tamer!" Leo declares. At that moment, a pair of big earphones appear in his monster's hand. It begins swinging them around.
Kevin grins. "You're right Leo, but she won't go out as you think. I play my Urgent Tuning Trap card."
"What!"
"Oh no…" Tanner says.
"With this, I can tune my Level 3, Princess Tamer, with one of my level 5 The Tricky Token-" Princess Tamer raises up her staff and she transforms into 3 green circular rings. At the same time, a tricky token glows into a yellow outline and transforms into 5 white stars. "From the past memories of clustered hope, a new horizon shines bright." A white light envelopes the monsters and from it, Kevin's mechanical beast roars loud. "Junk Blue Delta Dragon!"
"Woah," Leo says in awe. "That's your dragon."
"Yup. Can you take it down?" Kevin questions with a grin.
With eyebrows raised, Leo gulps, but then he smiles. "I still attack your last The Tricky Token." Morphtronic Radion swings his weapons and it hits Kevin's monster. It explodes in yellow triangular pieces. "I place a card face down and that's it."
"Alright, Leo. My turn, I draw." He smiles.
"Kevin. Can I ask you something before we continue?" Leo asks suddenly.
Kevin raises his eyebrows but he nods. "What's up?"
"You and my sister… You really really like each other." He begins.
Kevin slowly nods, unsure of what Leo is asking. "Yeah. She means a lot to me."
Leo nods. "Would you give up your title of King if it meant being with my sister?" Leo didn't know what he was doing, but he felt like distracting him would give him an advantage.
Kevin smiles and he immediately answers, "Of course, I would."
This time Leo raises his eyebrows in astonishment at the quick response. If he found a girl he likes, which first of all, no... that's just weird to like girls, he would take a bit to respond back if he was asked a question like that.
"Again Leo. Luna means the world to me. Yeah, I love being considered The King of Turbo Duels, but I couldn't have gotten that title without the help of my girlfriend. Luna has been there for me since we were little, since my first dueling card. My title wouldn't be my title without my queen and that's her over there." He smiles at Luna who has tears in her eyes and her small hands over her mouth. "I would give up my title for her even if it meant I had to choose between the title and Luna. I'm not King without her."
"That's sweet kid," Tanner says.
Leo nods, unsure of what else to say.
"You're not asking me to surrender if it means giving you the title," Kevin then says. "If you are then take it. I will say that it will feel terrible to have no title of King of Turbo duels anymore but that's just a title. Luna only comes once in a lifetime. I could always get my title back." He gives out a small laugh and gives Luna another smile. She nods at him and again, there it is. Leo looks at him and his sister… He just remembers that fairy tale his parents would tell him before bed when his parents would tuck him into his blankets a long time ago.
The King would talk to his Queen with his mind, his dad would say. Isn't that cool?
Leo thought he was joking and being silly, but now watching Kevin and his sister, it seemed something more real. Why doesn't it feel silly anymore? He shakes his head and looks at Kevin again. "No. I am not asking you to do that."
"Oh, I'm not saying you don't deserve it. You beat Greiger so I'm sure with all the efforts and support of your family and friends, you would have gotten that title," Kevin says.
"Yup and I will work my way as you did. I'm glad my sister found someone who can be there for her and I see why she admires you a lot. Kevin, show me how you will protect my sister and show me you are way better than me."
"Leo…" He hears his sister call for him. He doesn't turn to her and he nods at Kevin.
"My turn then," Kevin says and he draws from his deck. "Go my dragon! Attack Tanner's monster!"
"I activate my spell, Shrink!" Tanner exclaims and his facedown card reveals. "This card splits your dragon's attack by half for this turn."
"I activate my dragon's effect. By returning my level 2 Crocodile Boy from the graveyard to my hand, I can negate your spell card," Kevin counters back.
Tanner frowns and Kevin's dragon prepares to unleash his power.
"Don't worry Tanner," Leo says. "I play my trap card, 'Morphtronic Bind'. With this, since I have Morphtronic monsters on my field, your level 4 or higher monsters cannot attack,"
"I then play my face down spell card, 'Cosmic Typhoon'." Kevin's spell card reveals. "By paying 1,000 LP, I can banish your trap card, Leo."
(Kevin's LP: 2850)
A blue beam shoots out of his card and Leo's trap disappears. "What!?" Leo exclaims. Kevin's dragon shoots out a white beam from his mouth and it destroys Tanner's insect monster.
(Tanner LP: 3700)
Tanner groans from the force of the explosion from Kevin's attack. Worriedly, Kevin asks, "You okay Tanner?"
Tanner smirks. "Dang kid, that's a powerful attack."
"Sorry," he apologizes. "I'm still trying to get control on the force of my attacks."
Tanner shakes his head. "No worries. You were able to overcome all those counter moves. I'm impressed."
Kevin smiles and points at Leo's monster. "Crocodile King attack Leo's Morphtronic Radion!" His crocodile slashes his fingers towards Leo's monster and a pair of white claw marks slash it away.
(Leo's LP:3700)
It explodes and Leo covers himself with his arms over his head as the shockwave of that attack washes over.
"Woah," Leo says. "I felt that. You're like Akiza aren't you?" Kevin raises his eyebrows and he slowly nods in confirmation "That's pretty cool," he says to him sincerely.
"Thanks."
"Due to Chainsaw Insect, you can draw one more card from your deck," Tanner tells him.
Kevin nods and he does. "I activate my trap card 'Princess Savior' from my graveyard. By returning it to my deck, I can return two cards from my hand to the deck. This then allows me to draw two more cards." He does and smiles at the two new crocodile cards he drew.
"I then am able to special Summon Crocodile Queen from my hand since I control Crocodile King." He places it in his monster zone slots and another human-like crocodile appears with a crown on its head and a dirty green dress. It has 2000 ATK and 2300 DEF points. "With that, I end my turn."
Tanner nods and he draws. "I summon out Jirai Gumo in attack mode." A big Orange Spider appears with 2200 ATK and 100 DEF points. "I then attack your Crocodile King but in order to do that, I got to flip a coin and call it. If I get it right, I continue with no penalty, but if I call it wrong, my life points get split in half."
"That's a risky move," Luna says.
"Worth the attack if he does get it right though," Yanagi says. A big yellow coin appears in the middle of the field.
"I call heads," Tanner says and the coin is flipped. Luckily for him, it does land on heads. Smiling, the attack continues, and his spider shoots out a web of destruction. Kevin's monster explodes.
(Kevin's LP: 2750)
Tanner smiles and he sets a card face down. "That does it. Your move Kevin."
Kevin nods and he praises Tanner. "That was pretty cool, but it's my turn now. I draw!" He does. "I summon out Junk Synchron and with it, I'm able to bring back my Junk Hedgehog from my graveyard." A small three-inch creature with nails and bolts on its body appears with 800 ATK and 1,000 DEF points.
"I activate my facedown card, 'Lair Wire'!" Tanner tells. "With it, since I have an insect monster in my graveyard, I can remove it from play to destroy one of your monsters."
Kevin raises his eyebrows. "Wait that means…"
"Yup. Even your dragon can't protect you from this card," Tanner says with a smile. "You don't have any more level 2 or lowers monsters in your graveyard." Suddenly, a hole appears below Kevin's dragon and it falls as the web covers all of its body. It vanishes in an instant.
"You destroyed Kevin's dragon," Leo says in awe.
"Yup. Just had to time it right."
"With Junk synchron still on the field, I tune it with my Junk Hedgehog," Kevin says and Junk Synchron pulls on a lever beside his body. It transforms into 3 green circular rings. Junk Hedgehog turns into two white lights. "I synchro summon Junk Warrior." A robotic creature with a huge fist appears with 2300 ATK and 1300 DEF points. "Go Junk Warrior attack Leo's Morphronic Datatron with scrap fist!"
Kevin's monster takes flight and with its big arm with spiked knuckles, smashes Leo's monster. It explodes in tiny triangular pieces. "Crocodile Queen destroy his Celfon." It raises its staff and a bright green light shoots out of its scepter. It collides with Leo's monster and it blows up into tiny triangular pieces. "With that, I end my turn with a facedown card."
Leo frowns, but he draws. "I place one monster facedown and that does it."
Kevin draws. "Junk warrior attack Leo's monster!" It does and it destroys his facedown Morphtronic Boarden. "Crocodile Queen attack Leo directly."
Leo raises his eyebrows and Kevin's monster raises up its staff again. Its bright green light shoots out and smashes into Leo. He groans.
(Leo's LP: 1700)
"You okay Leo," Tanner questions.
He nods and he holds back his tears. "That stung a bit."
"Careful Kevin," he advises him.
Kevin nods a bit worried, but he continues. "I end my turn."
Tanner draws and he smiles. "I activate the spell card. 'Cost Down'. With this, I can discard a card from my hand to decrease all the levels of my monsters in my hand by two." After he discards, he exclaims, "I summon out Mist Archfiend in attack mode." Smoke appears around and from it, a dark creature with a red/orange outline all over its body and big black with yellow claws appears with 2400 ATK and 0 DEF points. "Mist Archfiend attack Kevin's Junk Warrior!" With its pointy hand, it swipes at Kevin's warrior but he activates his facedown card.
"Nope, with Waboku, I can prevent the destruction of my monsters, and not only that, all damage is reduced to 0 for this turn."
"Dang, kid. You really are something," Tanner compliments. "That does it. I got nothing else."
Kevin draws with a smile. "I summon out Crocodile boy in attack mode. With it, I can add another crocodile from my deck to my hand." He adds Crocodile Child to his hand.
"Attack Junk Warrior! Destroy his Jirai Gumo." Kevin's monster soars to the sky and it makes its way to Tanner monster. With a power punch, it destroys Tanner's spider.
(Tanner LP: 3600)
"With that, I switch Crocodile Queen to defense mode and I end my turn."
Leo takes a look at his deck and he frowns.
"Go Leo, go!" He hears Luna's voice. He smiles at that as he draws from his deck. "I place one face-down card and set another card. That ends it."
Kevin draws and he sets one facedown monster. "Junk Warrior attack Leo's Facedown card." It does and it explodes into tiny triangular pieces. "I'm sorry Leo. Crocodile Queen Attack!"
Just as she prepares to end him, Leo activates the spell card on his field. "I play scapegoat. Which lets me summon out 4 tokens to my field. I won't go out that easily."
Tanner then adds, "I also remove from play my insect monster to destroy one of your monsters." Junk Warrior shatters in front of Kevin.
4 colorful sheep then appear on Leo's side of the field. 2 of those still get destroyed because of Kevin's attacks. "I end my turn. That is it."
"Thanks, Tanner, "Leo says to him.
"Don't sweat it, kid. Just take advantage of what I did for you."
He nods and Tanner draws from his deck. "I summon out Bull Blader!" A mechanical bull with red horns and a long sword in its hand appears with 1600 ATK and 1200 DEF points. "Go Mist Archfiend. Attack Kevin's Queen." It slashes at Kevin's monster and it shatters.
(Kevin's LP: 2350)
"Go Bull Blader attack his boy." It slashes it with its sword.
(Kevin's LP: 1750)
Kevin draws from his deck. He flips over his facedown monster and Crocodile Child appears. It wears some blue plants and has 1000 ATK and DEF Points. "Since my child was flipped, I can special summon Crocodile Girl." A small child with a blue dress appears with 1000 ATK and DEF Points. "And with her ability, I can special summon 'Crocodile Circuit' from my deck."
"3 more monsters on your field," Yanagi says. "Nice moves kid."
Kevin nods and he smiles. "Unfortunately, they all won't stay long." Crocodile Circuit disappears and from it, Princess Star rises from the deep depth of the darkness. "Come on out and let's kick this duel into the climax." A girl with a white dress, blue short hair, and a very colorful bow in her hand appears with 2400 Attack and 2000 Defense Points. "Go attack Tanner's Bull Blader!"
"Unlucky for you," Tanner begins. "With my monster's effect, I can cancel all damage for us both and by the end of the damage step, your monster will face its doom."
Princess Star shoots out a blue arrow from her bow, but nothing happens at first. She then frowns and she shatters into triangular yellow pieces. Tanner's bull also disappears.
Kevin smiles. "By removing Princess Star from my graveyard, I can special summon a synchro monster from the graveyard. Go, come on out, Junk Blue Delta dragon!" Kevin's dragon roars again with 2700 Attack and 2300 Defense Points. Both Leo and Tanner awe. "You got your dragon back," Tanner points out.
Kevin smiles. "I place one card face down and I end my turn."
Leo draws and he grins. "Great! I first activate 'Pot of Avarice. Which lets me return 5 of my monsters in my graveyard to my deck. And after the shuffle, I can add 2 cards from my deck to my hand…" He places his hand on his deck and he closes his eyes. "Let's go! I draw!" He looks at his hand and exclaims, "Yes! It's here. I summon out Morphtronic Scopen in attack mode." A telescope appears and transforms into a robot with claws as hands. "With him, I am able to special summon 'Morphtronic Videon' from my hand." He points a finger up. "I tune my level 3 Mophtronic Scopen with my level 4 Morphtronic Videon. Let me show you how I protect those important to me. I synchro summon, Power tool Dragon!" A machine dragon-type monster, with a blue digger claw and a green flathead screwdriver as hands, appears with 2300 ATK and 2500 DEF Points.
"That's a cool-looking dragon Leo," Kevin compliments.
Leo smiles and quickly nods. "Yup, my top card and the one that will take you down."
Kevin nods and looks over to Luna. She smiles. "Let me see it in action then."
"Yup, by activating its effect. I can choose 3 equip cards from my deck and you chose randomly one of those. I get to add it to my hand and the rest get shuffled back into my deck." He grabs 3 cards from his deck and places them on the field facedown. Kevin points at the 3rd card on his left. He nods and grabs it. The rest are placed back into the deck and reshuffled.
"I activate the equip card, 'Double tool C&D'. With it, during my turn, my dragon gains an additional 1000 attack points." The tools the dragon has on his hands are replaced by different ones; a red saw and a drill. "Power tool Dragon attack!" It does and after it shoots out an orange beam of light, Leo yells at Kevin's destroyed monster. Or that's what he thought.
(Kevin's LP: 1150)
The smoke clears and Leo sees Kevin's dragon still standing.
"Wh- Wh- What?! But how?" Leo questions.
"By removing from play my Junk Hedgehog, it prevents my monster from getting destroyed."
Leo frowns, but then he grins. "Dang, but the good thing is my spell card destroys your dragon at the end of the battle."
"What! No, I activate my dragon's effect. By returning my level 2 or lower monster from my GY to my hand. I can negate your spell and destroy it."
Leo frowns and his equipped spell on his dragon disappears. "I activate my spell card, Break! Draw!' and equip it to my dragon. I place one card face down and with that, I end my turn." (Break! Draw! 1nd Phase end)
"Good try kid," Tanner congratulates. "You were able to give him damage. Nice work."
Leo nods.
Kevin draws and he smiles at the card he drew. He remembers how Luna got hold of this card. Because of her, he is here. But then he remembers how she got hurt also because of him. Suddenly, pain begins to surge through his arm where his mark is.
"What the-" He shakes it off and continues. "I tribute my crocodile child and summon Princess Eclipse in attack mode." A beautiful girl, with orange/red hair and glimmering blue eyes, appears beside him with fire coming out of her hands with 2200 ATK and 2300 DEF points.
"Now, Junk Blue Delta Dragon attack Leo's Power Tool Dragon." It does and Leo manages to protect his monster.
(Leo's LP: 1300)
"Princess Eclipse attack and destroy one of his tokens." She holds out her hands a ball of fire makes its way to one of Leo's tokens. It shatters into triangular pieces. "I end my turn."
Tanner draws and he grins. "I activate the spell card 'Summoner's art'. This card lets me add one level 5 or higher normal monster from my deck to my hand.
"I think I will negate your card's effect," Kevin interrupts. "By returning my level 2 Crocodile Child from the graveyard to my hand." He grabs the card from his duel disk and a bolt of blue electricity shoots out towards Tanner's card. It shatters.
"Alright." He sets one card face down. "Leo, we need to do something about his dragon."
Leo nods.
"I attack with my Mist Archfiend." His monster slashes Princess Eclipse into tiny triangular pieces.
(Kevin's LP: 950)
"I end my turn."
Kevin draws. "Attack Junk Blue Delta Dragon. Destroy Tanner's monster!" His dragon shoots out a white light and Tanner covers himself as the explosion shatters his monster.
(Tanner LP: 3400)
"I set one monster face down and one card face down and that does it for my turn," Kevin says.
Leo draws. " I first activate Power Tool Dragon's effect first. Choose a card, Kevin." He chooses the middle one. Leo smiles and shuffles the other two back into his deck. "Next I activate the spell 'Morphtronic Accelerator'. I can shuffle one of my Morphtronic monsters back into my deck to destroy one of your cards."
"I won't let you, Leo. I activate my dragon's effect to negate your spell card," Kevin begins.
"Sorry, kid, but we got to stop your dragon. I play my face-down trap card, 'Skill Drain'!" Tanner's card reveals.
(Tanner's LP: 2400)
"At the cost of a few life points. All special effects from every monster are negated."
"Oh," Kevin says. He watches as a white aura begins to cover every monster on the field. His dragon roars, but it gets restrained to the ground.
"I destroy your facedown card!" Leo pumps a fist to the sky as Kevin's trap is destroyed.
"Woah," Luna says.
"Also my spell card lets me draw one more card from my deck." He does and smiles. "I equip my spell card, 'Rocket Plider to my Power Tool Dragon." A big cannon appears on his dragon's back. "I summon out Morphtronic Boomboxen." A black and red radio appears and transforms into another robot with white handles on the side of its shoulders.
"Let's do this! Go, Power Tool Dragon! Attack Kevin's Junk Blue Delta Dragon with crafty unbreak!" Leo's dragon shoots off into the air and it shoots out a rocket from its back.
"But my dragon has more attack points," Kevin reminds him.
"Yup. And as Yusei has taught me. It's a small price to pay to destroy your dragon." Junk Blue Delta Dragon roars and from the ground, it shoots out a white stream of energy. It impacts with the rocket and it explodes.
(Leo's LP: 900)
"Because of my equipped spell 'Rocket Plider, my dragon is not destroyed. Plus, your dragon loses attack points equal to Power Tool Dragon's attack points."
"What!?" Junk Blue Delta dragon's attack points drop to 400. "Now Morphtronic Boomboxen attack Kevin's dragon." A laser beam shoots the robot's chest and it destroys Kevin's ace card.
"No."
(Kevin's LP: 150)
"Nice Leo. We almost got him!" Tanner exclaims.
"Nice one," Kevin adds.
"Oh and I'm not even close to being done. With this card," he says, showing Kevin the back of his card. "It's all over for you. I end my turn with a face-down card." (2nd Phase end for Break! Draw!)
Kevin's POV
Wow, this is intense. I comment to my girlfriend.
Tell me about it, she tells him back. You're not planning to lose right?
I give her a small laugh. That's the plan. "I draw!"
"Before you do anything, Kevin. I activate my trap card 'Power Break'!" Leo exclaims.
Oh, no. I hear Luna say. That's one of his strongest cards.
"Since I have Power Tool Dragon. I can select up to 3 equip cards from my field and graveyard and return them back to the deck. For each one returned, you take 500 points of damage."
I raise my eyebrows as his dragon roars. A yellow beam of light shoots out of his body and heads straight up to the sky. From the sky, it shoots back to me.
"I activate my crocodile Circuit's effect from my hand. By discarding it, and my cards from my hand. I can reduce the amount I take by 200 for each card."
"It won't be enough," Leo says.
"That's what you think, but I play my trap card. 'Princess Savior.' With this, I can cut the damage in half and special summon a 'Princess card from my deck."
His effect damage decreases to 750 which means, "I don't take any life points and you just lost some of your equip cards."
"Good one, Kevin!" Luna exclaims. "Nice try Leo!"
Oof, were you worried? I ask her. I hear her sigh and she giggles. Nope.
"I special summon 'Princess Eclipse from my graveyard in attack mode." I look as my daughter appears with her red ponytails and fiery hands.
Hello daddy.
I smile. Hello princess. Are you ready to help?
Yes, no one will split my mommy and daddy! Suddenly dark clouds begin to appear above us. No one! Her eyes begin to glow a fiery red and I chuckle.
"Well hum," Leo begins. "This is bad isn't it?"
"Yup. Princess Eclipse. Attack Leo's Morphtronic Boomboxen!" She raises up her hands and red lightning shoots from the clouds above. I look at Leo who suddenly seems deep in thought. I wonder.
"I play my facedown trap card, 'Morphtronic Salvage. With this card, I can remove Morphtronics from my Graveyard to increase my monster's attack by 100." His Boomboxen attack increases to 1400. The red lightning hits Leo's monster and it shatters.
(Leo's LP: 100)
Wow, he's barely with any life points. Luna comments.
"That's all I got now," I say. "I end my turn." I look at Leo and see him breathing heavily. "You okay Leo?"
He gives me a big smile. "You bet."
"Nice work kid," Tanner says and he draws from his deck. "I will take it from here," and he looks at his card. He smiles. "From my hand, I activate the spell card, 'Monster Reborn'!" He plays it and a sword with a red crystal on its center appears. "Time you met one of my most devastating creatures Kevin." A white light shoots out from the sky and it engulfs the sword." From that, a red creature so terrifying-looking appears. It has horns on the sides of its head and it holds various yellow treasures all over its body. It has 3500 ATK points and 2500 DEF points. "I present to you, Ultimate Obedient Fiend."
"Woah, that's a lot of attack points," Leo comments.
"Yup and lucky for us, since skill drain is still active, I am able to attack even though I have cards in my hand. Without this trap card, I wouldn't be able to attack at all. Let's see how you stop this beast. Go Ultimate Obedient Fiend. Attack Kevin's Princess Eclipse and wipe out his life points." The demon prepares by making a fist with its big hand. He roars and attacks my monster.
Daddy… Chaos… Please, Daddy… I hear Princess Eclipse plead. Not again.
I raise my eyebrows and activate a trap from my graveyard. "I use Junk Counteract. By removing this card from play, I can prevent her destruction and I am able to draw one card from my deck. The type of card determines my fate."
I lay my fingers on top of my head, take a deep breath and draw. "I drew the trap card, 'Junk Switch'. The effect of Junk Counteract lets me equip this trap to my Princess and her attack points get doubled." Her attack points rise to 4400.
Tanner's demon tries to punch my monster, but Princess Eclipse raises her staff and shoots it with a strong current of red energy. His monster explodes.
"Dang!"
(Tanner's LP: 1500)
"Woah," Leo says in surprise, Tanner sets one card face down. "That's all I got, kid. It's all on you."
Leo nods and I draw. Thank you, Daddy. I smile at her and nod.
We need to talk soon. About this Chaos and everything in between. She nods back.
She nods back. Of course, we will pretty soon. I promise.
I take a look at the card I drew. "I play the spell card, Pot of Duality'. With this, I can look at the top 3 cards from my deck and choose one of them to add to my hand." I see Draw for One and again, my vision fades. I see that same blonde boy and we are in the same giant stadium. We're dueling and I take a look at my arm. There's this dark mark and my arm hurts.
Kit! I sound scared.
You have to finish this now! Go! He exclaims and my vision comes back to the present.
Are you okay? Did you have another memory come back? I hear Luna ask me. I turn to look at her and she gives me a soft smile. I slowly nod.
There's this dude. His name is Kit… I shake my head as the pain in my head and my left arm return.
Take it easy. Don't stress yourself out, Kevin.
I nod and decide to continue the duel. I grab Heavy Storm from the 3 cards and return the rest to my deck. I'm sorry, Princess Eclipse. But I got to destroy Tanner's trap card.
It's okay, daddy. Do it!
I smile and play my card. "I use Heavy Storm. With this, all spells and trap cards on the field are destroyed."
"What?! Even your own equip card," Tanner points out. I nod.
"A small price to play, but I can't take any more chances and your card also has me worried," I admit. At that moment, Princess Eclipse raises up her hands once more, and waves of red energy shoot from them in increments of 2 seconds.
It destroys Leo's trap card and all of Tanner's trap cards, one of them was the very good and scary Mirror Force."Ha, there it is."
"Good move, kid," Tanner compliments.
I nod and point at Tanner. "Attack Princess Eclipse." She nods and Tanner smiles.
"It's all you kid," and Tanner takes Princess Eclipse's force of nature.
(Tanner's LP: 0)
"Tanner!" I exclaim as he falls to one knee.
He shakes his hand. "I'm okay, Kevin. Don't worry about me. Continue the duel."
I slowly nod. Luna, I hope I didn't hurt him.
He said he's okay. Don't worry.
I nod and look at Leo. He gives me a nod.
"I flip my crocodile child into attack mode and this card lets me add one crocodile card from my deck to my hand." I grab the trap card that I ended up using on that blonde boy. Kit. "I set this card face down and that does it. Leo, your turn."
Leo puts his hand on the top of his deck and he draws. "I activate my Power Tool Dragon's effect. Choose a card, Kevin."
"I chose the middle one." He gets it and returns the other two back into his deck. "I activate the equip spell card 'Power Pickaxe' and with it, I can choose one monster from your graveyard and remove it from play. "I choose your Speed Synchron." An orange weapon with a pointy end appears on top of Power Tool Dragon's arm. It replaces the green weapon it had.
Oh, no. He took away your favorite card. How will you beat him now? Luna questions.
I'm not sure, I say to her and take my favorite card and put it in one of my deck pockets on my belt.
"Also Power tool Dragon's attack points rise by 500." His dragon's attack points jump to 2800. "Just enough to wipe the rest of your life points." He turns to Luna and smiles. She smiles back. "Power Tool Dragon! Attack Kevin's Princess with Crafty Break!"
Kevin… Luna begins.
"I activate my trap card, 'Draw for one'. With this, since you declared an attack while I have no cards in my hand, I can remove from play my Crocodile Circuit from my graveyard to draw one more card from my deck." I do. "And I can play the card I just drew which is 'Princess Retaliation'." I look over to my daughter and give her a smile. She nods at me and she begins to disappear. "With the power of this trap, I can tribute it to raise my life points by her defense points."
(Kevin's LP: 2450)
"In that case, I will attack your Crocodile Child!" The little crocodile tries to take cover, but Leo's Dragon slashes it away into triangular yellow pieces.
(Kevin's LP: 650)
"I place one card face down and with that, I end my turn. You are almost out of options Kevin," Leo says and he smiles. "How can you protect my sister when you got nothing left?"
I frown and look at my deck. Just then, I begin to feel that strange pain in my left arm. There it is again. That strange pain.
Did you feel that too? What's going on? Luna questions me.
I shake my head. I don't know but I need to finish this duel. I don't think we should continue with it any longer.
"I have faith in my deck; in my monsters. Princess Eclipse sacrificed herself to get me another fighting chance. As long as I have that, I will protect Luna with all I got."
"Just like you did when you dueled Akiza?"
Luna gasps. "Leo!" I raised my eyebrows and I begin to feel the power inside me.
"I… I…"
"You let her take all those hits while you watched her suffer," Leo softly says and he looks down. "Why should I forgive you for that?"
I close my eyes remembering it as it was yesterday. Suddenly, I feel that warmth. I open my eyes and see that blue aura around my hands like that day I dueled Akiza. It feels nice. I tried to protect her. I… I...Suddenly, the blue light begins to turn black. "What the-" I look at my mark and see the outlines begin to change black.
"Ouch," Luna says and I turn to look at her.
What's wrong? Luna? I say quickly.
Don't worry about me. It was just my mark. Please Kevin… Remember I told you, I'm not alone anymore. I got you and you protected me as I protect you. You didn't fail and you will never fail. It's okay.
I remember Kit. He was a calm fellow. I can't place it, but he was unique. Like me… I relax and place my hand on my deck. "I draw!" I gasp and see the card. My scene changes and I feel my life getting sucked out of me.
I find myself in a white world. All of it is white. It reaches anywhere and everywhere in all directions. Up, down. Left and right. Everywhere. Then I see it. A black dot and before I know it, there is a black being standing in front of me. His smile is wicked and he's laughing crazily.
"9/ 3 1 14'20/ 20 15 21 3 8/ 25 15 21/, 8 21 13 1 14"
"What?" I question even though I don't hear myself speak.
"Right. I forgot you aren't like us yet. Can. You. Understand… Oh, you can understand me." He grins. "Let's see. My plans have changed so for now, I will grant you one wish. Ha ha. Grant. That is funny."
"Who are you?" I question in confusion.
"Really? What do you think?" He shakes his head. "Unbelievable. But anyway, I have helped you and I will help you just this once. You see you were about to lose, but Green has swayed Leo a bit so it's just the waiting game. I am done with that. A part of me is desperate and another part of me wants chaos. Ha. See what I did there. No, okay. Well, now I have swayed the balance of worlds. Postponed the inevitable for now. You have nothing except that card you drew and that is all I will give you until we meet again. I will be waiting in Spiritus."
I don't have time to respond because everything around me begins to change and I find myself back in the duel. I'm looking at the card I drew and I swear it wasn't "Crocodile Polymerization", but now it is.
Kevin are you okay? You spaced out for a minute.
I look at Luna and see her fine again. Are you in pain still?
Pain? No, I mean what Leo said did hurt, but it's okay. Don't take it to heart. Just please beat my brother. Don't be too rough on him though.
I look back at my hands and see nothing. That black aura is gone and my mark has dimmed down to what it was before. Blue and normal.
I don't understand.
"Have you given up Kevin?" Leo says jokingly. "You drew something bad, didn't you? Ha, King of Turbo Duels Title here I come."
I smile. We need to talk right after this, Luna.
Wait... Pause. I feel that. I was in pain and you had this black aura around your body. What's going on?
I don't know but someone or something interfered with this duel and we need to find out who. "Sorry, Leo, but my deck never lets me down. Since I control no monsters on my field-"
Wait. Where's Crocodile Girl? Luna asks me.
I don't know.
"I can activate my spell card. 'Crocodile Polymerization!" I play it and from the ground in front of me, a green and white circle appears. "By removing from play my Crocodile King, Queen, Child, Boy, and girl from my graveyard. I can fusion summon Crocodile Ruler of Chaos!" A 10ft human-like crocodile with a black hat on his head appears. It is wearing a red suit and has a long black staff in its hand. It has 4500 ATK and 3500 defense points.
"Woah!" Leo exclaims. "You fusion summoned a monster?!"
You can fusion summon? Luna asks me with curiosity.
I guess so. I remembered dueling Kit and I used this card to beat him.
That's soooo cool. You got to teach me how to do that, Luna says with excitement.
I smirk. Of course, we can talk about it soon, but first, we need answers. "Attack my Croc with Dark Pulse stream of Chaos!" It raises its staff and from it, strands of blacklight shoot out. It heads towards Leo's dragon.
"I play the quick play spell, 'Limit Removal'. With this card, I can double my dragon's attack points." Power Tool Dragon's attack rises to 4600. My strands of Blacklight hit Leo's dragon.
(Kevin's LP: 550)
"It's over, Kevin because now your monster will now get destroyed," Leo says.
"I don't think so because by removing my Crocodile Polymerization from my graveyard. I can prevent its destruction."
"What!?"
I grin. "And also, due to Crocodile Ruler of Chaos' special ability. Since your monster was not destroyed. I can remove from play a synchro card like my Junk Blue Deltra Dragon to raise my monster's attack points by half." My fusion monster's attack rises to 5,850.
"But…"
"And best part Leo. I can attack with it again." My monster raises its staff once again and begins to shoot waves of Black energy. It hits Leo's Dragon and explodes.
(Leo's LP: 0)
Victory: Kevin
The smoke clears and I see Leo on his knees and in tears. "Leo?!"
I call as Luna, Yanagi, and Tanner go to his side. He sniffs and declares, "Dang it!"
"You did good, kid," Tanner congratulates him.
He sniffs again and looks up at me. "You won. I couldn't beat you so I guess it's okay that you date my sister. But please, don't hurt her. Don't leave her behind as I did." Then his face darkens. "If you do, I will find you and hurt you."
With eyebrows raised, I only nod and say, "I won't."
Suddenly, Luna punches her brother in the shoulder. "Ouch, what was that for?"
She huffs and exclaims, "You're so annoying, stupid and so immature!" But then she laughs. "But thank you, Leo."
He shakes his head. "I'm just your brother. Looking out for my little sis."
"We're the same age dork," she says back with a giggle.
"Nope. I'm older than you by a lot and way prettier than you."
"Haha. Kevin would totally disagree on that."
I raised my eyebrows and laugh. "Totally." Everyone else laughs and Luna goes to my side. She grabs my fingers and intertwines hers with mine.
Ha, that's better. She smiles and I nod. "Now, what just happened?!"
I sigh and turn to everyone else. "Guys, we really need to talk. It's urgent."
A/N: Well there you have it. This chapter was challenging, but it was such a blast when I actually managed to finish writing it. The next chapter will either be up with this one as a special treat for the long wait or it will come soon. It really depends when I have it done. The next chapter talks a bit about the background of The Legend of White and Spiritus. Thanks for dropping by and I will see you all next time. Any questions, concerns, or comments, drop them down for me. I highly appreciate it. Follow and favorite if you manage to find this out there. It will mean the world to me.
