Jordan had come to appreciate, and even admire, Nigel's eclectic manner of expressing himself, but she couldn't help side-eyeing the violet shirt with its elaborate pattern and the snakeskin boots he had chosen to wear today. At least she had been able to talk him out of the multi-layered pocket chain.

"Eilís Anne, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

Eilís was a good sport as Paul poured the water over her head and only fussed a bit when she was christened with the Chrism.

"Welcome to the family, kiddo." Paul tried to cheer her up as their gathered family began to clap.

Lily and Bug returned Eilís to Nigel, their godparent duties complete, and, once Eilís had settled and everyone had gotten their congrats in, Nigel and Eilís ventured over to the statue of the Blessed Virgin with Paul.

"Well, six months late is better than never, I guess, though I'm sure his outfit was his own form of protest." Her grandmother tutted as she came to stand by Jordan's shoulder, "It is a pity you didn't use your mother's name, though."

Jordan's eyes narrowed but she minded her tongue, not wanting to get into it again in church of all places.

She knew her grandmother thought Nigel had pressured her into choosing Anne but, the truth was, Jordan had been the one to suggest it. No one had been more surprised by her suggestion than Nigel but as much as Jordan loved her mom, naming her daughter after her just didn't sit right.

Jordan had spent most of her life consumed by the tragic life of Emily Cavanaugh. Not anymore. This was her life, her story to write. She refused to allow any more years to be stolen and she'd be damned if she forced her demons upon her daughter. Instead, Jordan wanted to gift her a name that represent all the hope being a mother and wife had given her.

The same hope she felt whenever Nigel shared stories about his mum. Anne Townsend had been the heart of their home, remaining a faithful wife and a loving mother till the very end, and achieved renown recognition for her work in chemistry. What more of a legacy could Jordan want Eilís to be inspired by?

"Hey, Jordan?" Lily walked over and stole Jordan from her thoughts, "What are Nigel and Paul doing?"

"Oh, it's a dedication to Mary, to ask her to watch over Eilís and guide her through life."

"Should we be over there?"

"No, let the boys have their fun." Jordan smirked. Over the past year, Nigel and Paul had become downright chummy and Paul had told her more than once how refreshing it was to be around someone without pretenses or a care what others thought of him.

"Actually," Jordan's smile filled her face, "The blessing was something Nigel insisted upon." Lily's eyes grew as Jordan nodded, "It was important to him for some reason." She treasured the memory as it was made of Paul praying over Eilís, who was always perfectly content as long as she was in daddy's arms.

"She has his smile." Lily grinned, nodding to Eilís.

"She takes mostly after Jordan though." Her grandmother noted, almost as if that was something to boast about.

Jordan couldn't resist, "She has his eyes too."

"They are brown, dear," Came a comment from one of her grandmother's friends that she had assisted on inviting, and actually invited behind Jordan's back since one couldn't very well bar someone from visiting a church, "They could belong to anyone."

Jordan quickly bit back her initial retort. Of course, Eilís took more after Jordan, but everyone knew her eyes were Nigel's and Jordan refused to let anyone take that away from him.

"No, they couldn't." Jordan forced a smile after she had counted to ten, "They are the perfect shade of Townsend chocolate." Jordan stared the old biddy down, a warning lit in her honey-brown eyes. She knew Nigel wasn't what any prim and proper lady of their class would ever dare to bring home, but it wasn't the 1800's anymore and she had made her choice, "And I would appreciate it if you would show some respect for the father of my child." The woman looked like someone had stuffed a lemon wedge in her mouth but said no more. Her grandmother quickly excused them to visit with her father.

Jordan continued to stew; her arms crossed as she muttered under her breath. Nigel snuck up behind her and his kiss stole away her fury.

"Some-bunny missed you!" Nigel said in his Eilís-tone as he bounced their daughter into her mother's waiting arms.

"Oh, is that so?" Jordan smiled, snuggling Eilís into her shoulder, her anger long forgotten.

Eilís reached out her small hand and Nigel gently took hold of it to give it a kiss. Jordan watched as Nigel played with their daughter. He was forever taken by her. Nigel loved fatherhood, even the hardest days of it, and Jordan knew how lucky she and Eilís were in that moment.

"Dada!"

Nigel's eyes grew wide, and Jordan was sure hers did as well, "Did she just?"

"You know, we really shouldn't be so surprised by her, she's the best of both of us after all!" Jordan just laughed. She bounced Eilís as she kissed her head, "Who is that Eilís? Who's that?" Jordan pointed at Nigel.

Eilís looked from her mom to her dad, "Dada!" She answered, grabbing Nigel's finger and sticking it in her mouth. Her big, brown eyes looking up to him like he was everything.

"That's right, little luv," He gave her hand a little squeeze, an unmatchable joy filling his face as happy tears caught him, "That's right."
