Nigel stormed into Jordan's office which should have been locked up and unoccupied, "Hey, what are you—oh, what are you doing here?"

J.D. Pollack sat up, his Sydney smile on point, "Waiting for Cavanaugh, have you seen her?"

"Afraid they got snowed in, mate, the roads are too dangerous. But don't worry, they got a hotel room and—"

"Oi, you mean with that bloke she almost hooked up with?"

Nigel pulled back, caught off that J.D. wasn't more concerned with Jordan's safety than his own jealousy, "I thought things were alright between you two?"

"I don't know, I just…I mean, well, you know her, what do you think about us?"

Shaking his head, Nigel took a seat across from him, "No, that's not how it works. How do you feel about you and her?" Nigel listened patiently while J.D. answered every question Nigel hasn't asked, and then some. Nigel quickly shushed J.D. before he disclosed any more of their bedroom antics and faced off with the Aussie, "That's great and all but, how do you feel?" J.D. just stared at Nigel like he was speaking Swahili.

With a sigh, the Brit leaned back, sorting his thoughts, "See, to me, if you can't imagine your life without her in it, if…if every day would be hell without her in it and if your heart aches at the thought of losing her, then, you know." Nigel shrugged, messing with his hair, "But, I'm a bit of a romantic, so take that all with a block of salt."

J.D. sat back, wondering what the story was there. He decided to risk it, "How long have you been in love with her?"

"Excuse me?" Nigel shot back, as if the question had burned him.

Leaning forward, J.D. sized him up, "How long have you been in love with Cavanaugh?"

Nigel futzed with his cuff, but finally he let his eyes meet J.D.'s. It was the only answer the reporter needed.

"How do you stand it, mate?"

"Because," Nigel leaned back, throwing his hands into the air, "Getting to see her every day, or getting drug along on one of her crazy adventures, or getting the chance to make her smile," He sighed, his sincerity etching his expression, "That's enough for me."

"You're a better man than I am, Townsend." J.D. shook his head.

Nigel hurried to his feet, "Well, I'd best be off. Cheers, mate."

"Cheers."

Nigel started down the dark hall. His pounding heart echoed throughout him, and he was afraid it could be heard well beyond the morgue.

As he got to his bike, he only had one thought,

Please keep her safe.
