Their moment together is sweet and much needed; but it's short lived, as reality crashes in, as they hear a knock on the door. They both snap out of their love haze as Fitz is now atop her, and they're enshrouded in covers. But still naked.
She expects for him to get up, but instead he stays in place as he yells, "Yeah." She whispers, "Babe, get up." He looks down at her as he whispers, "Nope. I'm not done with you yet." She can't believe him, surely he doesn't think they can lay in bed all day, she thinks. She then hears a familiar voice through the door saying, "Sir, Jarrod says you're needed in the oval. There's a situation unfolding in Syria that needs your attention."
He takes a breath, knowing their play time is indeed over; as he replies, "Okay Marc. Tell him I will be there in a moment." He replies, "Yes sir." She looks at her love's face, she can see the disappointment in his eyes. She sweetly responds, "it's okay my love. I have to get going anyway. Besides, better to be interrupted now then this weekend."
He perks up as he responds, "True. I can't wait to have the weekend in Vermont alone. Just us and the kids. It's a well-deserved break." She nods as she responds, "Agreed." Feeling better about having to end their time alone; he pecks her lips as he says, "Till later?" She nods as she replies, "Till later."
After showering and dressing; they both head downstairs to start the day. Olivia asks, "Are we having breakfast this morning?" He replies, "I can't babe. Sorry." She understands but says, "Well you have to eat something to replenish your strength. i know you've worked up an appetite." They grin at one another as he responds, "Yes. You know that better than anybody."
She swats at him playfully and they kiss once more as he says, "Have a good day baby." She smiles as she replies, "You too. Love you." He responds, "Love you too."
Agreeing with her that he needs something on his stomach; he grabs a quick breakfast consisting of a muffin and coffee, before heading out the door to jump on a conference call with the intelligence staff. As he walks he meets his new Chief of Staff Jarrod Middleton along the way who fills him in on the details of the current situation.
Olivia stands in the doorway watching, as her man seamlessly slips into his role as the most powerful man in the world. Momentarily she is caught up in a haze, feeling both incredibly proud and turned on all at the same time. Damn he's sexy as hell, she thinks to herself.
As quickly as the moment to daydream appears; it disappears, as she is pulled back into reality by the sound of little feet being chased by bigger feet careening down the hall. As she walks into the intersecting hall, she hears Carol and Christopher's voices as they speak into their mics, "eaglet three and four are on the move."
She remembers thinking how interesting is that each one of them have a code name, and how cute the term eaglet is, considering Fitz's name is eagle 1 and she is eagle 2. She also thinks of how respectively, eaglet 1 and two are still reserved for Jerry and Karen. Fitz appreciated her suggestion of retaining the previous order of the assigned code names despite Jerry passing away. And Karen almost aging out of forced secret service detail.
Again her thoughts are interrupted as the cause of the initial remote sound, is much louder, and within her eyesight. She smiles as she sees the kids rounding the corner. When they see Olivia waiting for them at the entry door into the dining room. They both run faster and directly toward her yelling, "Livy! Livy!" She chuckles at how cute and happy they are as they near her.
When they arrive they hug her, and she hugs them in return, as they trade greetings. And, as the secret service brings up the rear; she squats down to their level as she asks, "Can you tell me why you two are giving your security detail a run for their money this morning?"
Ella excitedly replies, "Because we wanted to see you before you left! Teddy follows with, "Yeah!"It dons on her that it's been a while since she's shared a meal with them, so she understands their excited to see her. She quickly says, "I'm sorry I've been so busy munchkins. I miss hanging out with both of you. And, I promise I will be making some changes to my schedule, so we can spend more time together, okay?"
Happily they they both reply, "Yay!" Olivia grins at their responses, but knows she needs to address a serious matter with them. She changes her tone to be more serious as she says, "While I'm glad you're happy about us getting to spend time together. Let's not forget about the rules when you're with your detail. What is the number one rule you must always follow?"
The joy leaves their faces slowly as they realize the fun time as paused, and Ella replies, "Stay with our detail no matter what." Olivia nods in approval as she asks, "And why is that important?" Teddy responds, "Because their job is to protect us from danger, and they can't protect us if we are not with them or listening to them."
Olivia kindly replies, "Very good both of you. So, with that said, What should you both do right now?" They both look at her with repentance in their eyes, as they suggestively say, "Apologize?" She nods approvingly as she responds, "Yes. You should." Both of them look at each other, and then back at her for a moment. Then they turn around and see their agents behind them. Both agents look down at them as they both step forward, and Olivia stands up, watching their interaction.
Olivia smiles as she sees them hold hands as they both look up at Carol and Christopher and say, "We're sorry for not listening, and running away from you. It won't happen again." The apology is complete and sincere. It makes Olivia's heart swell. And she can see the agents' also appreciate the sincerity of their apology. Both of them simultaneously reply, "Thank you."
Pleased with their actions, they turn around to Olivia and ask, "Can we go eat now?" Olivia grins as she replies, "Yes. We can go eat now. Walk, don't run into the dining room you two." They nod and proceed into the dining room joyfully.
Olivia knows she should be off to work, but she decides to make time to sit down to eat breakfast with the children, before they go to school; since they have a two hour school delay this morning.
