Goading her further he asked, "Are you threatening me?" She scoffed as she responded, "I can't be responsible for how you process words; I can only be accountable for what I actually say. Plain and simple. This is D.C. There's plenty of other stories for you to chase; but this isn't one of them! Have some sense of decency, and leave Ella, and the story around the loss of her parents alone!"
She walked away from that conversation not realizing he was recording it; and he printed the interaction in his next story. However, what he didn't count on was the spin that came from the article. She gained support for her protective nature of Ella, and the memory of her dear friend and mentor.
It was a twist that worked to her advantage to a degree, honed by Abby. She changed the narrative of the piece, and had people rallying behind Olivia. Hence she being grateful her bestie is the Whitehouse Press Secretary, and doing so dammed well at her job.
It was after that she agreed to take secret service with her, to prevent another run in with Mr. Warren, or any other reporter looking to get a sound bite from her. While they were fortunate that this instance played out in their favor, they couldn't be naive enough to believe they'd be as lucky next time.
Still, Olivia appreciated the wave of support she gained from the public. Some headlines coined her as a mother bear, protecting her baby. Other's termed her as being a woman protecting the best interest of herself, her beau, as well as Ella. It was impressive to see that there wasn't one negative national headline printed about her reaction to Warren's piece.
What drew her attention the most was how people saw her as a mother figure. She'd never seen herself as a mother; but it was clear that based on how she's currently living, and her feelings for the kids. She is in the role of a parent, without officially being given the title.
It's an interesting thought for certain. One that doesn't make her feel completely comfortable, but it doesn't completely scare her either. She quickly jots down some notes for herself to address in her next session with Dr. Baker. She feels the need to expand upon this further.
As the car comes to an official stop, she looks up and sees she's in front of her office. She gets out and walks inside; preparing to shift gears from her personal hat, to her professional role. A position she always feels most comfortable in.
Olivia walks into the office and sees everyone who's there hard at work. After walking into her office, she sees the files on her desk needing her approval. And, she sees a flashing light on her phone indicating she has new voicemail's.
She takes a breath and decides to get her day started with the files, instead of listening to the voicemail's tight now. After dedicating six solid hours to clearing files on her desk, while checking in with staff in between, and texting back and forth with her love off and on during the day.
It appears she is she is over due for a break. So, she decides to take a lunch break. She pauses as she thinks of food options, and gets a hankering for some Chinese.
Thinking of the perfect spot her, Abby, and Quinn love to go to. She shoots both of them a text asking if they're free for lunch. After putting down her phone, waiting for a reply. She hears a knock on her door. She then looks up and sees Huck and Quinn standing in at the doorway. She is surprised to see both of them, and says, "Hey you two. Quinn I just sent you a text asking about lunch."
They both come inside, and Huck closes the door behind them. As Quinn responds, "Yeah. I just got your text." Olivia sees the look on their faces as Huck walks up next to Quinn, who is now standing in front of her. Olivia sees that something must be awry.
She cautiously asks, "What's going on? Why do you both look like somebody died?" Huck and Quinn look at one another; and Huck replies, "It's Warren." Olivia sighs out of frustration as she responds, "Oh God! Not again. I swear he's going to make me put a stop to him once and for all!" Huck's response catches her completely off guard as she hears him reply, "Somebody already permanently beat you to it. And, you won't believe the reason."
Olivia confusingly asks, "Wait. Are you saying Warren is dead?" Quinn nods as she replies, " Yes. One shot to the back of the head, execution style dead." To say she's in shock is an understatement; she can't believe it. He certainly wasn't her favorite person; but seeing him dead was never a wish of hers.
Her mind begins to race as she tries to pull together the possible reasons behind his death, and she considers the way he was killed. She then looks at Quinn and Huck, just as Huck hands her a folder. She reaches for it, and after opening it up, he begins to speak. What she hears him say, and what she reads as he speaks, almost drops her to her knees. Her mind is trying to process it all; but, she's struggling to put it all together.
Thank you for reading my fan fiction tale. We are building up to the story behind the story. And, I'm hopeful you all are here for it. Let me know who you think is behind Warren being murdered, and why? Also I'm curious what you all think about this installment all together with respect to Olivia and Fit's progression, and how they're making the best of a complicated situation.
In the next installment we find out much more about how this twisted story unfolds with respect to Warren's death. And, how that ties to the story of Olitz's pathway to Vermont. See you next time! Be blessed.
