chapter 8 Wing's to recovery part 2
Warren's parents and friends saw the fixators on his wings. "The fixators are in place and they will hold the bones together until they are healed." Hannah's mother said.
Warren was starting to wake up. He was wondering what happen he felt funny. "I'm ready for the operation," he said.
"Warren the operation is over, the fixators are on your wings you should be just fine in 8 weeks," Hannah's mother said.
"What about school?" Warren asked. He was now full awake because of that. "I like keeping good grades," he said.
"Don't worry I talked to the school and they will set up a video conference for you in the classroom so you can learn with your friends while you are in the hospital," Professor X told him.
"We will bring you, your homework," Hannah said. "And tests," she said.
"Thanks," Warren said.
"Now the pins need to be kept clean," Hannah's mother said. "Or else it can become a source of infection," she said.
Then Warren started to doze off. "Let's let him get some rest, the more he rests the better," Dr. Olden said.
Later that night Warren woke up because he heard something. "Whose there?" He asked.
Then Dr. Ecaved came into the light. "We are going to do that surgery and treatment on you and the other mutants in this hospital." Dr. Ecave said.
"It's too dangerous my parents said they don't want it done, now out of my room," Warren said.
"I don't care I want the world to be rid of freaks like you," Dr. Ecave said and was about to prepare the anesthetic for the surgery and treatment. Thinking fast Warren pressed the button to alert the nurses and doctors to come. Dr. Ecave tried to leave but the nurses got there before he could.
"He was trying to do the surgery and mutant cure on me without my parents consent and my parents already told him no because they knew how dangerous it was and he was going to do it to the other mutants in the hospital." Warren said.
"No I did not," Dr. Ecave said.
"Oh yeah?" Warren said and played the evidence on his phone. "I had it recording the whole time," he said.
The security guards dragged Dr. Ecave out who was arrested and had his medical license taken. The nurses checked on Warren to make sure he was okay. They found he was fine and allowed him to go back to sleep.
A few days later Hannah came in with books and papers. "Hi Warren I got your homework," Hannah said.
"Thanks Hannah," Warren said.
Warren had a lot of trouble writing with his left hand so Hannah helped out by holding the paper steady and Warren took his time and made it neat as he could. Hannah looked kind of sad.
"Hey what's wrong?" Warren asked.
"I am so sorry you got hurt Warren if I hadn't gotten stuck you would've been hurt," Hannah said.
"It's alright we're friends and friends help each other," Warren said.
"I know but I feel responsible for your injuries," Hannah told him.
"Well it's not your fault so quit blaming yourself, I did what I had to do, I could just do nothing and allow you to get hurt," Warren told her. "I am not mad at you nor do I blame you, I did for you because I care about you," Warren said. "and I did it because I love you." he said and then looked embarrassed that he admitted his feelings.
"You what?" Hannah asked.
"Nothing," Warren said.
"Did you say you love me?" Hannah asked.
"Um maybe," Warren said blushing. His cheeks were really pink.
"Let me tell you a little something," Hannah said.
"Okay what?" Warren asked.
"I have crush on you too," Hannah whispered.
"Really?" Warren asked.
"Yes I just never knew how to tell you because you were still trying to get over your ex-girlfriend when I met you," Hannah said.
"So Hannah after I get better want to go out on a date?" Warren asked.
"That sounds nice," Hannah said. "Now focus on getting better," she told him.
Warren was recovering from his injuries from the fight against Apocalypse. He was healing just fine and it has been at least 8 weeks since the attack. Everyone at school was wondering why Warren was in the hospital so long.
Hannah explain he was trying to help protect her and he got badly hurt. Many of the teens said Warren was a hero and some of the hot popular girls blamed Hannah for his injuries.
Many of Hannah's friends came to her defense telling them it wasn't her fault that Warren did a brave thing protecting Hannah. The guidance councilor told the mean girls the same thing.
Warren was now getting x-rays done of his wings. "Looks like your wing fractures are 100% callused over and it looks like we can take the pins out." Hannah's mother said.
The surgery was done and everything looked good on the X-rays. Warren carefully folded up his wings it didn't hurt just pretty stiff then he spread them no pain but still pretty stiff.
"So how does it feel?" Dr. Olden asked.
"Doesn't hurt but their stiff." Warren answered.
"That is to be expected, you are going to need a few weeks of physical therapy before you can fly again so you don't hurt yourself," Hannah's mother told him.
"Okay," Warren said. "Will I able to go back to school soon?" he asked.
"Yes you should be able too," Dr. Olden said.
Warren was bit concerned going into physical therapy there was many things he has to with his wings and it wasn't very comfortable at times. He was getting better and feeling better with each session.
His wings started to feel normal again and were not so stiff. Hannah sometimes helped with his physical therapy. She was happy to help. Warren was so relieved that he was doing better and it had been four weeks since therapy started and Dr. Olden took a look.
"Your wings still stiff and sore and hard to move?" Dr. Olden asked.
"Nope they feel great, in fact they feel as good as new." Warren told him.
"Can you move them for me?" Dr. Olden asked.
Warren moved his wings and it looked very good and comfortable. "Very good Warren, your wings have healed well, now you just need to try to fly for me to see if they've healed properly," Dr. Olden said.
"Um okay," Warren said he was a bit nervous. Hannah was there and assured him it was going to be alright. Warren took off and he was flying and doing well and made it back to the roof top of the hospital.
"Good, your wings are fully healed," Dr. Olden said.
Hannah and Warren continued to hang out and enjoy each other's company and planning on their first date. "Warren aren't you mad at her she caused your injuries," one of the popular girls name Clara said.
"She didn't I willing did it to protect Hannah because I care about her," Warren said.
"Why do you care about her she is a hick and she is not beautiful as me and she is always playing with filthy animals and always helping the less popular kids and being a teacher's pet and she always tells me and my friends that how we treat others is wrong," Clara said. "You should be with me I am beautiful, and I am popular and I am rich like you," she said.
Then Warren turned and left.
A bit later Warren was going to ask Hannah out on a date. "I am going to ask the most beautiful girl in the world who is the one I love out to the Valentines day dance," Warren said.
"Oh Warren I would love too," Clara said coming up.
"Excuse me Clara please move," Warren said and walked past her. He came up to Hannah. "Hannah I protected you when you needed it and you helped me when I was hurt and even before that you helped show me friendship and caring while I was having a hard time after my ex-girlfriend dumped me so Hannah will you go to the Valentines day dance with me?" he asked.
"Yes," Hannah said.
"What you got to be kidding me!" Clara said. "Why would you go with her she is such plain hick right everyone?" she asked.
"No," everyone said.
"Hannah is beautiful inside and out," Warren said. "But she is most beautiful on the inside," he said.
Hannah and Warren were looking forward to the dance. They got ready and went to the dance and they had a good time. Then they looked at each other and smiled during the slow dance and they kissed.
