Certificate of Life
A/N: Hello everyone I know it's a little late for an update class has been a little tiring. Thank you everyone for the continued reviews. You have no idea what it means to me and encourages me to continue on. Thanks again everyone please enjoy this chapter.
Meanwhile in a different part of Burbank the mysterious figure that had saved the two warner siblings multiple times pulled into an abandoned building. Putting their bike to rest they removed their helmet and started to walk towards a worn down desk and chair. Death turned around and faced the figure and motioned for them to come closer. The figure did so and removed their helmet and waited to see what the grim reaper had to say.
"You've been doing well, quite honestly you've gone above and beyond the call of duty" Death leaned forward placing his elbows on the desk.
The figure nodded, "Thank you."
"Now then about that certificate of life you have been trying to obtain"
"What about it?"
Death smiled and held out his hand to the figure, "You've managed to obtain it, Warner."
"Ahhh what's the catch?" Yakko asked skeptically.
Death laughed a little, "Ah you know the game too well. You still must wait for them to be convicted and sent off to prison. I am sure though you are very relieved to have your life back in your own hands now though, correct?"
"It is kinda relieving knowing that once this is all over I can finally hold them again" Yakko smiled faintly, "But that's it? That's all I have to wait for?"
"And they still can't know that you're alive, not until that day comes." Death responded and looked at his desk, "That is all you are free to go now, literally."
Yakko nodded and waved goodbye to death one last time before returning out into the night. Getting back on his bike he headed past the studio just to see how things were going. That's when he noticed that Wakko was standing outside of the tower. Before Yakko could get away Wakko spotted him and quickly rushed down the tower. The eldest Warner was thankful that his face was still concealed and tried to act disinterested in the excited Wakko.
"It's you!" Wakko grinned, "I've been looking for you!"
"Oh?" Yakko looked at Wakko trying to hide a smile, "Why?"
"Well you did save my life after all" Wakko sheepishly grinned, "And well you seem like a nice person."
"You should stay away from me" Yakko looked away, "I'm a dead man walking, besides shouldn't you be getting back to your sister?"
Wakko snapped to attention and nodded, "Yeah I should, poor Dot's probably having another nightmare. Anyways take care of yourself…whoever you are."
Yakko nodded, "Thanks kid, take care of yourself."
Wakko sighed sadly as he watched the figure drive off again and made his way back up the tower. He was right when it came to Dot, she appeared to be caught up in a nightmare. As if a switch had been flipped Wakko went into protective brother mode and tried to comfort Dot to the best of his ability. Dot finally settled down and fell back into a peaceful sleep. Wakko let a small smile form on his face and proceeded out into the kitchen where he found Claire. Leaning against the doorway Wakko watched as Claire seemed to be sipping at her coffee and working on a crossword puzzle. She finally noticed turned around and smiled at the middle Warner.
"You're looking better" Wakko started.
Claire shrugged, "Just trying to hold on. The trial's coming soon and I want to be at my best health. Besides I heard some interesting news."
"What kind of news?" Wakko asked sitting down across from her.
The girl had a mischievous grin, "Another certificate of life has been given out, though this time it hasn't been mentioned on who it was awarded to."
"So does that mean?" Wakko felt a small glimpse of hope.
Claire nodded, "But don't get your hopes up too much, okay?"
"Right" Wakko looked down, but had found a new sense of hope.
For some reason Wakko had a feeling that somehow his brother had earned his life back. Feeling a new sense of hope he continued throughout his day feeling lighter. As he walked about the studio everyone had taken notice how light hearted the middle Warner was. Bug's caught up with Wakko curious on what had caused the usually dreary Wakko to be so happy.
"What's up, Doc?" Bugs asked chewing on a trademark carrot.
Wakko smiled, "Just feeling great for once, soon Buddy and Memlo will be tried and hopefully placed behind bars for their crimes."
"I figured as much" Bug's smiled finishing his carrot.
Wakko nodded, "I'm so happy though, Dot's been doing a lot better too. We may never fully recover, but it's a start."
Bugs nodded, "Everyone had been worried about you two for some time, it's good to see that you two are back in good spirits."
"Thanks Bugs it means a lot" Wakko smiled and continued on his walk through the studio.
Taking a stop at the cafeteria he let out a small content sigh as he looked around. There were still many familiar faces that brought him a sense of joy and comfort. It was short lived as someone walked through the door and instantly recognized him.
"Hello cute little puppy boy!" the director called out.
Wakko instantly made a gookie, "Go away."
"But I wants to talk! Come on be a good little puppy boy and star in my film!"
"No thanks" Wakko responded and quickly pulled out a mallet from his gagbag. Quickly knocking the director in the head he made a run for the door.
"Ooo enough with the hurts and stars" the director muttered as stars danced around his still spinning head.
Wakko grinned and made his way back for the tower and rushed up the ladder to his home. Closing the door behind him he noticed that Dot was finally up and seemed to be as cheerful as he was. There was just something about the day that neither one of them could pinpoint. They turned around as they heard Claire enter the living room and gave her a bright smile. Much to their surprise the girl seemed happy and shared their good feeling of the day. With the trial growing closer they all had something to look forward to, and with the news that Claire shared gave them even more hope. The trio smiled and looked out as the sun started to rise over Burbank. None of them noticed the figure on the motorcycle that had stared up at them. A smile on their face they rode back off, patiently waiting for the time to finally appear.
