Scratchy's Testimony

A/N: I think this one is about wrapped up. I own only my oc who may not even make an appearance. Everyone else belongs to Warner Brothers and all other entities.

The air was tense as everyone prepared for what would be considered the trial of the ages. Quiet voices whispered as the defense's arguments rang through the air. Had Memlo and Buddy truly gone insane after working with the Warners? Sure, they could be a lot to handle, but they would have never wished to cause someone physical or emotional distress, "Their minds were broken and molded by the constant fear of being pranked and gookied…"

Those words were bothering Dot so she looked to Wakko, "If they had asked us to stop we would have."

"I know" Wakko sighed and shook his head, "I think they're just trying to use insanity as an excuse to get a lesser sentence."

"Quite possible" Death tapped his skull, "Hmmm this could be quite interesting to watch indeed.

"If I may" Pearson looked towards the jury, "The defense claims that the defendants were driven insane by the Warner siblings. However, instead of going through the proper channels these two men decided to take matters into their own hands. They plotted together to enact revenge against the Warner siblings. Revenge that hinged on destruction of Warner Bro's, and the murder of the Warner siblings! Today in this very room we will provide evidence to support this claim!"

"He reminds me of some sort of lawyer from a tv show" Death mused.

Wakko nodded, "Can't quite put my finger on it though."

"Same here…" Dot sighed and looked around, "It's hard to believe how many people were let in to watch the trial.."

"Does feel a bit unnerving" Wakko admitted.

Death shrugged, "Where's the popcorn when you need it…"

"Hang on a sec!" Wakko pulled out his gag bag and pulled out a bucket of popcorn, "Extra butter?"

"Why of course!" Death mused and took the bucket, "Now then I wonder who they will call first."

"I'm going to guess Ralph maybe?" Dot shrugged, "Not like he would be the best witness…"

Pearson cleared his throat, "I would like to call Dr. Otto von Scratchinsniff to the stand."

"Hey Scratchy didn't tell us he was going to be a part of this!" Dot huffed.

Wakko sighed, "he probably didn't tell us so he could remain impartial and unbiased."

"He's been taking care of you two for quite some time though. I don't understand why he would be considered impartial."

"Hmm maybe there's something we're missing." Wakko scratched his head.

Everyone grew silent as Scratchy took the stand and raised his hand as Pearson went over the usual opening to testimony, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?"

"Ya" Scratchy spoke.

Pearson nodded, "Tell me Dr. Scratchinsniff, what do you do for a living?"

"I am a psychoanalyst to anyone in Warner Brother's employ" Scratchy replied.

Pearson nodded, "And what exactly is a psychoanalyst? What does your profession specialize in?"

"I help provide mental health care for anyone who is employed by Warner Brothers. I specialize with an in depth talk therapy approach to help people overcome difficulties in their lives, and help them make lasting changes" Scratchy replied.

Pearson nodded, "Tell me, at any point during their employment with Warner Brothers did Memlo, Buddy or even both of them seek your services?"

Scratchy nodded, "Ya, both had sought out my services. However, due to client privilege and HIPPA I am not free to discuss what was discussed in those therapy sessions."

"But one could assume that they had discussed difficulty in dealing with the Warner siblings?" Pearson asked.

"Objection!" Williams barked, "The prosecution is leading the witness and trying to expose confidential information!"

The judge looked down from her bench, "Will the prosecution explain this line of questioning?"

"This line of questioning is to help establish that if anyone could see the warning signs of Buddy or Memlo becoming unstable it would be the witness present" Pearson replied.

Judge Pacaderm sighed, "I will allow it."

Pearson nodded, "The state would like to have the reports for Buddy and Memlo unsealed. So that their mental states can be further assessed."

"Objection!" Williams spoke once more, "They are protected under HIPPA! You can't just open private files. It goes against doctor and patient confidentiality! If the state were to open their reports, what's to say that it wouldn't open the door for other's mental health being scrutinized?"

Pacaderm nodded, "The defense does make a strong case against the argument of opening Memlo and Buddy's files and disrupting doctor and patient confidentiality."

"The request is formally withdrawn" Pearson spoke and turned to Scratchy, "Doctor, without sharing any confidential information, did either of them seem to be agitated with discussing the Warner siblings?"

"Who wouldn't be?!" Scratchy sighed and composed himself, "When the Warner's were discussed they showed higher signs of aggression. It was no secret on the lot; Memlo and Buddy despised working with ze Warner's. In fact Buddy blamed ze Warner's for his being fired."

"It's their fault!" Buddy yelled from the defense table, "I would have had it all if it weren't for them! They ruined my career, and they ruined my life!"

"Quiet!" Judge Pacaderm commanded, "The defense would do well to have their clients refrain from anymore outbursts!"

"Understood" Williams spoke and looked to Pearson. Pearson shrugged, "Your witness."

Williams got up and walked towards Scratchy, "You say that it was common knowledge that neither Memlo or Buddy liked the Warner siblings. But is it also true that the feeling was mutual amongst most of the employees on the lot, and not just these two?"

"Oh sure" Scratchy adjusted his coat collar, "Yet, you see. They are the only two who would actively and openly admit to wanting to cause physical harm to ze Warner's. Sure, they drove us all cooky! Yet, none of us would be able to bring ourselves to hurt children!"

Williams walked to the other side of the witness stand, "How can your testimony be impartial when for months after the incident at the water tower the Warner's lived under your roof? I would like the court to examine if the good doctor's testimony should be struck from the record as it could be biased in favor of the Warner siblings."

The judge rubbed her chin under her trunk as if she were deciding on what to do. Giving a sigh she looked towards the tired looking psychoanalyst, "While it is true that you have been serving as the Warner sibling's guardian, I do find that your testimony has been appropriate and unbiased and not favoring either party. Therefore, the court shall not strike down your testimony and allow it to stand."

"Thank you your honor" Pearson spoke.

Williams looked disgusted, "No further questions."

"You may be dismissed Dr. Scratchinsniff" Judge Pacaderm spoke and watched as Scratchy returned to his seat amongst the crowd of people, "The prosecution is free to call the next witness."

Pearson looked around and gave a slight nod, "The prosecution would like to call Weed Memlo to the stand."

Everyone looked surprised as one of the accused walked towards the witness stand. Death tapped his chin wondering if Pearson would be trying to get the two accused to turn on one another. The only one who knew the true strategy would be the prosecution. Everyone else would have to wait with bated breath to see what would unfold.

-End.
