"I thought you said we needed the Hard Drive to be able to reboot the system and destroy the Overlord." Jay notes.
"I did. But that was before I discovered the entire capabilities, of what Zane's powers, truly allow us. His source can gain us remote access to the Digiverse. By the time we figure out where Lloyd is, it would be too late to stop the Overlord from draining his Golden Power." Cyrus explains.
"And escaping the Digiverse?" Nya furthers.
"Exactly. But, if we digitize the ninja, and the Techno-Blades, using my technology, you could fight him on his own turf, inside the Digiverse." Cyrus continues.
"What do you mean; inside the Digiverse?" Jay questions.
"He means exactly that." Kai answers simply. "But we don't get multiple lives. If we die there, we die here."
"Oh." Jay deflates, as the computers activate. The bloody maniacs that have been without power suddenly burst in and deactivate everything, and Kai is about to toss them all off the highest floor, before particles of Golden Energy begins to float, re-powering everything again.
"It's already begun." Cyrus notes solemnly. "The Overlord has started the transference." As the proximity alarms blare, He locks down the building, as huge walls of steel block the lower floors from being used. Nya encourages the townsfolk to go and stall for time, as the ninja sit down and Cyrus prepares them for transference.
"How are we meant to reboot the system?" Zane asks.
"Put simply, all source code travels through the heart of the mainframe. Find it, and you'll find a glowing activation port. The Techno-Blades are the keys to activating the reboot sequence and the erasure of all the corruption in the system." Cyrus explains.
"Beware, guys. While Cyrus wrote the code, it's the Overlord who controls it. He will have home advantage here." Kai adds.
"I'll do what I can from here. Find loopholes and remove them as you go, to keep him from having too much control and power against you." Cyrus assures.
"Uh, how do we know this will work and not just disintegrate us instantly?" Cole asks. Cyrus moves to the button.
"Hmm. I'm not sure. Let's see." He activates it, sending the ninja to the Digiverse, and smirk. "You have your answer."
As Kai and the others awaken, they notice the subtle, yet also glaring differences between the realms. Lines of ever-changing code are what builds up the walls around them, their bodies, their weapons, everything.
As they get a better spot to watch the code, they notice that it all converges towards a single area, proving Cyrus correct. The source code would always go to the mainframe.
"We need to get to that mainframe." Zane states.
"Easier said than done." Cole complains, while Jay and Kai just laugh, before they both leap off the building, landing without any issue. "How the fuck did you guys do that?" Cole questions.
"It's a video game! Just use your imagination!" Jay answers. As they meet back up, they truly notice the location of the mainframe.
"It all flows to the bottom of the building." Zane notes.
"The ashes of the Overlord." Kai adds, trying not to think of how similar this is to a Phoenix. Before they can do anything, however, they are held in place, before slowly sinking into the code. "Ah, shit."
"You think you can come into my world and get rid of me?!" The Overlord cackles, but stops when he notices Kai laughing as well. "What's so funny, ninja?"
"The rules can change." Kai answers cryptically, before the claw above them lifts them out of their predicament.
"Two can play that game." The Overlord declares, tipping the world upside down, letting gravity cause the issues. With quick thinking, the ninja mange to enter the building, nullifying the effects of the rotated world, as they begin to make their way to what once was the bottom floor, now the top floor. After climbing through ten levels, Jay has enough.
"Fuck this. We need to think bigger." He complains, leaping out a window, summoning his hacked vehicle and scaling the building that way. The other ninja soon follow. As they reach the bottom, they fire their missiles, creating an opening for them to pass through, leaving them before a large crystal like structure, that shows the reboot activation port.
"It can't be this simple." Kai notes, uneasy with how empty the place is, as their vehicles are sent away.
"I don't care. We do this now. While we still can." Cole orders, as the ninja place their Techno-Blades into the port, forcing the reboot to begin. But as the signal begins to fire, the Overlord appears, and blocks it.
"You may have beaten the Program. But you will not beat me." He declares, his shadowy form more human than his previous dragon one, but also more like a leviathan. He easily grabs hold of the ninja as they attempt to attack. "You fools. All of your existence, you've been powered by a lie. The good guys always win?" The Overlord simply laughs. "They don't. I have the power now. Technology has made me infinite." He tosses Jay at the others, who had managed to get free, knocking them down. "The Golden Ninja is mine!"
"For now." Kai admits, as a tendril of darkness attaches itself to the Overlord, only to be absorbed, much to Kai's glee.
"The Null has no power over me. I have escaped it before, it will not take me again!" The Overlord declares. Kai just smiles sadly, knowing otherwise, but not speaking it, as the tendril becomes a part of the Overlord, it leaves a curse of Kai's own making.
"It has power over everything. You just don't see it." Kai retorts solemnly, as Lloyd's voice begins to echo through the Digiverse.
"Good guys may not always win, Overlord. But we never give up." Zane begins to glow, before he becomes Golden. Kai smiles, as he too, glows, before becoming golden himself. "If we can't go through him-" Zane begins.
"Go around him." Kai finishes, as the signal reflects off of Zane.
"Cole, stand in the light!" Zane orders. Cole does just that, and Jay follows suit. As Kai gets into position, however, he feels the energies of Ninjago shift, and staggers, before sending the signal through, allowing the system to reboot at last. As everything fades, and they return to reality, they all congratulate each other, with Zane receiving the most praise, but Kai looks saddened, and no one knows why. As they find Lloyd and pick him up, everything seems normal again.
