Hey ya'll! Hope you have a safe holiday weekend! I can't wait to hear what you think of this chapter! I've been glued to the NBA finals every night so it's perfect timing as I work on this story! Let me know what you think of this chapter! Love ya'll!
Tris pulls out her key, she notices the living room light on. She looks through the front window to see Natalie asleep on the couch with a book across her chest. She didn't feel like all the questions from her mother about her date with Eric so she went around the side of the house. Thankfully she left her window cracked so she pushes it up and slides in. She takes off her shoes and as she's pulling the hair clip out of her hair she feels as though she might stop breathing when she sees an envelope on her nightstand. She walks over and picks it up. It was from Dauntless University. Tris was so nervous her hands were shaking.
She looks up and sees Tobias cut his light on. What was he doing home so early? His window was open so she decided to be noisy and see why. She needed a few minutes to gather herself before opening the letter.
"Pssssst"
Tobias looks annoyed at first but he breathed a sigh of relief when he realizes Tris is home early too knowing she couldn't have let things go too far with her date. He was still in his feelings about Tris and her date even though he wasn't going to tell her that. When she motions for him to come over he climbs through his own window. He had ditched his tuxedo jacket and tie but still had his dress shirt and loafers on.
"Surprise you are home so early from your date with College Boy," Tobias says with an eye roll. It had been bugging him all night seeing Tris with that Eric character.
"What about you, What secluded area do you two park to do God knows what? I'm sure Maria kept her promise and left you satisfied" Tris huffs.
"That's really what you think of me?" Tobias asks, sounding a little hurt. "A little after you left, I told Maria it was time to go, and I took her straight home. She told me I was the dumbest brother in the world"
"I was sitting there leaning against his car, he was kissing my neck, and putting his hands on me and it was bugging the shit out of me that I couldn't remember how many offensive rebounds I had in the championship game," Tris says shyly looking at Tobias. "I guess he got tired of me "accidentally" kneeing him in the balls and that's when he drove me home" She finishes using air quotes when she says accidentally.
Tobias smirks. "You had 4 offensive boards in the championship game" he finishes in a soft voice.
"You noticed, You remembered?" Tris was taken aback that he would remember something like that about her.
"I notice everything about you Tris, even when you think I don't" Tobias admits looking Tris in the eye.
"I need to show you something" Tris grabs the letter and swings out of the window, trying to keep from flashing Tobias due to her short dress as she does it. When she stands up she hands him the letter.
"What's this?"
"It was on my nightstand when I got home, I can't open it, I'm too nervous. Can you?"
Tobias nods and opens the envelope quickly. His heart was racing, he wanted this to be good news for Tris, she deserved it but he also was a little selfish knowing that he had made his decision and if this was what he thought it was, he was going to take it as a sign.
He smiles when he reads the first few lines of the letter.
Dear Beatrice Prior
We are pleased to offer you a full athletic scholarship to Dauntless University as part of the Women's Basketball program led by Coach Tori Wu.
"They want you, Tris!" Tobias grins as he flips the letter around for her to see.
Tris feels like she could float, she grabs the letter from Tobias and scans it quickly. She was so excited she wanted to burst. She couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face. Tobias thinks she's absolutely adorable as she squeals a little and hops up and down and smiles just as big as she did.
Suddenly headlights shine in the driveway and Tris knows it's Caleb coming home. She didn't want anyone to know she was home yet so she pulls Tobias close to her and presses her back against the side of the house. Tris is busy looking toward the driveway to make sure Caleb doesn't see them but Tobias is looking down at her, taking in her beauty, and how close she was to him. After a few minutes when Tris hears Caleb hit the alarm to their car she turns back to Tobias only now aware of him looking at her and how close they were.
"Guess What?" He says in a low voice. "I'm going too" He knew he could trust her with his plans, that she wouldn't tell anyone.
"To Dauntless?" Tris asks, surprised. Tobias had so many options, he could literally pick any school in the country. "What does your father think, I thought for sure Duke or maybe even Gonzaga would be your pick"
"I haven't told him yet, but I made my decision last week. National signing day is next week so I'll have to tell him before then. Congratulations Tris, I'm really proud of you"
Tris smiles as Tobias moves to pull her in for a hug. She was so excited and happy at the energy flowing between the two of them she turns and presses her mouth to his. Tobias is shocked and before he can register what is really happening Tris pulls aways.
Oh my God, I can't believe I just did that! She scolds herself.
She had never been the one to initiate a kiss with Tobias. She was just so happy and excited and it made her feel like something was happening to know they would both be going to Dauntless for college like their story wasn't supposed to end yet.
"What was that about?" Tobias asks curiously looking at her. He wanted to kiss her and so much more but he wanted to know where her head was at.
"I know right...I...I" she stammers, scratching her head and looking down at the ground.
Tobias smiles at her nervousness. Knowing she wanted to kiss him was all the invitation he needed. He grabs her waist and pulls her to him and quickly starts to kiss her. Tris lets out a little squeak as Tobias sticks his tongue in her mouth. She moves her hands to his shoulders and moans as he continues to move his tongue with hers. Tobias lets his hands wander to her ass and he pulls her close to him but she loses her footing on the grass and they both stumble to falling back onto the grass. They both erupt into a fit of quiet giggles. Tobias moves over and picks up right where he left off.
Everything is moving so fast as Tris allows herself to let her hands roam over his shoulders again. She feels him press hard against her and she can tell how turned on he is and she starts to panic for a second. She pushes him off her so she could catch her breath and think for a second.
Tobias responds and rolls off of her sitting next to her in the grass resting his arm on his knee. Tris sits up and closes her eyes for just a minute. What did she want? She took a peek at him, he was looking at the grass.
Tobias couldn't believe how stupid he had been, no wonder she had pushed him off. He lived next door, he knew Tris hadn't really dated, and here he was acting like he did with all the other girls he had been with, taking what he wanted and not really thinking about her. He wasn't completely selfish, he made sure they got off at least once. He could be honest with himself, he didn't want to feel selfish with Tris if she really did want him.
In a split second, Tris decides to be bold. Honestly, he was her first kiss, he had been the only person she had ever allowed to touch her intimately before tonight why shouldn't he be her first everything? Finally, he was looking at her and touching her like he wanted her and he admitted how much he noticed her. She liked the feeling. She stands up and looks over at him.
"Come on," she says softly as she motions her head toward her window.
Tobias looks at her intently as he rises and follows her. Once they quietly crawl back through the window Tris stands in front of her bed and slowly pulls the shoulders of her dress down.
Tobias swallows hard. Was this really happening? But Tris was making it very clear what she wanted. Tobias drops his shirt quickly and moves to help her out of her dress kissing her shoulder as he undoes the zipper slowly.
Tris shimmies out of her dress stepping out of it as Tobias unzips his pants leaving him in only his boxers. Tris only has her strapless bra and black panties and her pearl necklace on now and she feels a little shy seeing Tobias still aroused. She slides back onto the bed and he follows, covering her and kissing her softly.
He realizes that he needs to slow down. This was Tris, the first girl he kissed, the one who he watched from his window and hoped she wouldn't think he was the jock that everyone else considered him to be. She wanted this from him and that made him feel more special than any other girl had ever made him feel.
"You are so beautiful Tris" he whispers in her ear as he moves to unhook her bra. She swallowed hard. She had always been self-conscious about how small her breasts were. He gave her a soft smile as he removed her panties.
"You don't have to say that,'' she says quietly as she watches him.
"Tris, it's true, I've always thought you were beautiful, I lied that one time when we were eleven" He whispers with a smile.
She chuckles but she bites her lip when he starts to move his hands to her center and she sucks in a breath when he probes her with his fingers. She closes her eyes and tries to remind herself to be quiet, they would be in a world of trouble if anyone heard them. They had been 16 the last time he touched her like this, his fingers expertly brought out the memories of their time in the closet. She rocked her hips against his hand feeling the wonderful tension build-up.
He moves his mouth to hers to cover her sounds but loving the sight of her smiling with her lip between her teeth. He continues to move slowly wanting to be as gentle as possible with her. Tris can feel her orgasm building as Tobias moves down to gently suck one of her nipples. It feels so deliciously good what he's doing to her body she didn't want it to stop but soon she was shaking was the waves of pleasure rolled over her. She grips his shoulders as he grins when she grabs a pillow to throw over her face to muffle her cries of pleasure. When she stills. Tobias reaches down on the side of the bed and grabs a condom out of his pocket. He had never been happier that he didn't sleep with a girl knowing that he had been prepared to sleep with Maria that night.
Tris self consciously covered her breasts with one of her arms as she watched as he quickly threw the wrapper on the floor and sat up to sheath himself. Tris can't help it when her eyes go big at the sight of him as he strokes himself before putting on the condom. She's felt him and caressed him before but seeing him fully bare before her was still shocking. He kisses her again as he lines himself up with her entrance. He slowly pushes in and Tris sucks in a sharp breath and looks at the ceiling with wide eyes at the uncomfortableness.
"Look at me, Tris, Let me see those beautiful eyes of yours" he whispers.
She sucks in another deep breath but does what he says and she pulls her eyes to him.
"Do you want me to stop?"
"No, please don't stop. I want this," she whispers back and shakes her head, and never stops looking in his eyes as he pushes into her with his lips barely touching hers as they both grunt.
He takes his time allowing her to adjust, only moving in and out of her slowly. Tobias thinks he never fully understood the definition of making love until this very moment. He can feel the connection with Tris, it was nothing like he had with the other girls he had been with. She was still covering her breasts and he gently moves her hand away so he could interlock their fingers.
"Oh my God, Tobias" she whispers when he changes his angle going deeper.
"Tris, Baby…" Tobias breathes out. This was everything, being with her like this. When he feels her start to climax again he quickly covers her mouth with his again to capture all her moans. He couldn't hold on any longer. Tris gasps again when he shudders to completion and they stare at each other intently as he props himself up on his arms above her, still inside her. She smiles as he leans down to kiss her softly as she ran her fingers over his chain with his number 4. She pouts when he pulls out of her missing the feeling of him that close to her. She wanted to stay snuggled up with him all night feeling her skin against his.
Their blissful slow kissing in the aftermath does last for long. Panic takes over when Tris hears movement that sounds like her mother coming up the stairs. Tobias's eyes go wide when he hears it too.
The Bathroom! She mouths at him to get all of his clothes and points.
Tris quickly grabs a t-shirt she had lying on the floor in her room and throws it over her head quickly pulling it down while Tobias gathers up his discarded clothes. She mouths again to Tobias
Hurry Up! as she points frantically toward her bathroom and he scrambles grabbing his shoes with the pile of the rest of his clothes in his arms.
He mouths back I'm trying! narrowing his eyes at her just before he knocks into her dresser, almost knocking over her books that were stacked there.
She rolls her eyes as she mouths SERIOUSLY! and throws her hands in the air as he steadies the items with his clothes still in his hands and grimaces.
Tris gasps when she sees the gold condom wrapper on the floor. She scurries over and grabs it before she dives into the bed pulling the covers up to her neck. She puts on her best sleep face and tries to calm her breathing.
Sure enough, after a couple of minutes, she hears her door creak open. She feels her mother place a kiss on her forehead. Natalie turns out the light on her bedside lamp and then shuts the door again. Tris opens her eyes but doesn't move. Caleb's room was across the hall and she knew her mother was doing the same thing she just did in her room. A few minutes later she hears the door shut across the hall and her mother continues down the hallway. She hears her continue up the stairs and Tris eases out of the bed to the door and cracks it open moving slowly trying not to make any noise to make sure she hears her mother close her bedroom door.
She closes her door gently with a sigh of relief and leans against it when Tobias peaks his head out of the bathroom fully dressed now.
"I wish you could stay right now but we will both have bars on our windows tomorrow if my parents find us like this" Tris whispers. They were both 18 now but there was no way her parents would ever be okay with her having sex in their house.
"Yeah I know" he grins back and moves to open her window. "Can we talk tomorrow?" he says almost nervously when he hops out the window.
She smiles and nods and he gives her one last slow kiss that makes Tris go weak in the knees before going to climb through his own window.
Tris wraps her hair and takes a shower, she feels brand new and she touches her lips and smiles as she thinks about everything she and Tobias did that night. He wanted to talk, did that mean he wanted to be with her? She hadn't expected that. She towels off and throws on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in.
She sees Tobias's light is off in his room now so she crawls into bed and looks at her phone.
Tobias: Tris, Thank you for letting me be your first. You're so special to me
She smiles as she types back, he was finally being open with her and she wanted to do the same with him.
Tris: You're special to me too, my first kiss, my first everything I'm glad it was you
Tris brushes her hair into a ponytail. She couldn't believe it was still straight after all of the antics with Tobias the night before. She had butterflies in her stomach wondering when they would talk. She looks in the mirror at her basketball shorts and t-shirt. She had always put up the facade that she didn't care about how she looked but as she looked in the mirror she kind of understood what her mother was talking about. Now that she was officially going to be playing college basketball for one of the high profile Division 1 schools in the country things would be different. She was going to be playing on a larger scene, doing media interviews, photoshoots and hype videos. If she wanted to make it to the WNBA, it was more than about how she played the game. She needed a personal brand.
Tris goes to her closet and looks at her options. She thought about what Lauren would say if she was there. She chooses a black tank top that was cut high and showed a little of her stomach but flowed down the sides. She paired it with a pair of skinny jeans and her red and black Jordan 12s. She topped it off with her number six necklace. She also brushed her hair down, it surprisingly still had a good bit of curl and wasn't poofy. She stands back and looks in the mirror on the back of her door. She felt good, like a new person. That wasn't just because of her offer letter. Last night with Tobias, made her feel more confident, more womanly, it was hard to put into words.
"Well, you look very pretty today sweetheart" Natalie praises as Tris makes her way into the kitchen.
"Thanks, Ma," Tris says pleased that Natalie approved of her look since she was always so critical about how Tris's behavior and outward appearance.
"What time did you get home last night," Caleb asks, giving her a smirk from across his plate as she sits down at the table.
"Before you", she taunts loading her plate up with pancakes and fruit.
Caleb snorted with laughter and shook his head. Tris knew he and Susan probably snuck off somewhere to be alone.
Her phone pings with a text and her heart almost stops.
Lauren: I want to hear all about your date!
Tris feels her face fall when she sees it's her sister.
Tris: I really need to talk to you, maybe we can go to Starbucks later?
Lauren: Sure, just say when
"Not who you expected?" Caleb asks "Hoping college boy calls today?"
"Whatever and no actually" she replies and sticks her tongue out at him playfully.
She didn't want to text Tobias first and seem desperate. She had gone into last night thinking that she was okay with last night being a one-time thing but this morning it hit her that's not what she wanted at all. Tobias asking if they could talk today had given her hope that maybe he wanted more too and she wouldn't be left looking like a fool like other girls he had slept with and moved on from.
"Did you kids have a good time last night?" Andrew asks, coming into the kitchen and giving Natalie a quick kiss before taking a seat at the table as Caleb and Tris nod in response.
"Ummm, Mommy, Daddy, I think I made my decision about school," Tris says nonchalantly.
Everyone turns to look at Tris. Caleb had already been accepted to multiple schools and decided on Erudite University in Atlanta and actually received a spot on their golf team and partial scholarship.
"I'm going to go to Dauntless. Look what came yesterday!" Tris dramatically opens her scholarship letter and flashes it.
"Munchkin, I'm so happy for you!" Andrew says, coming around to hug his daughter as she smiles.
"I knew you could do it!" Caleb says as he hops up and gives Tris a great big hug.
"Well thank the Lord! Now we can start getting all your things together" Natalie comments as she sets Andrew's plate in front of him.
Tris's phone pings again and she tries to control her facial expressions when she sees it's Tobias.
Tobias: Can we go somewhere and talk?
Tris: Yeah, when?
Tobias: Meet me outside in 30 minutes.
Tris eats trying to keep her nerves down as Natalie and Andrew go over her offer letter. Dauntless was in Atlanta so Natalie and Andrew were happy Tris and Caleb would be in the same city. Tris looks up at the clock in the kitchen and realizes that it's time for her to meet Tobias. She hops up and goes to grab her mini backpack, putting her offer letter inside.
"Where are you off to?" Natalie asks looking up from where she was doing dishes.
"Ummm Tobias and I are going to go play a pickup game and then I'm going to meet Lauren"
"The season is over and you two…..
"Really Ma, Why would I not play a pickup game because the season is over?" Tris asks hoping that her mother would stop asking questions. It wasn't like she and Tobias didn't do this on the regular.
Natalie sighs and shakes her head and goes back to cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast.
Tobias smiles as soon as Tris walks out the door and hops into his G Wagon at the end of the driveway.
"Hi," he says with a smile that makes her clench her thighs together.
"Hi," she replies as he leans over toward her. She leans in the rest of the way and he brushes his lips across hers a few times.
Tobias drives them to the park in their neighborhood and they walk quietly around the trail that follows the small lake. Tris plays with the hem of her jacket. They were both quiet on the quick ride up the street.
"Are you regretting last night?" he asks cautiously, noticing how quiet she was.
"No, are you?"
"No, I kind of don't know what to do here, I never thought we would go all the way, anytime I've kissed you, you would pull away"
"I knew what I wanted Tobias, last night you looked at me just like you look at all the other girls and it made me feel… I don't know, I feel seen, I guess. I wanted you to want me and I..."
"Tris I always see you, I…. I...I was so taken with you and how beautiful you looked last night you were stunning and it knocked me off my feet. I literally stopped mid-sentence when I was talking when I saw you, but you are always beautiful to me, for real."
Tris bites her lip as they walk to a picnic bench. Tris sits on top of the table while Tobias sits on the bench. She puts her arms on her knees leaning over. After all the ups and downs between them was it this simple? Them just simply choosing each other?
"Tris, I don't look at you like those other girls because they don't mean anything. Tris, you have always been the one girl that was 100 with me. You call me on my bullshit, you don't let me get my way all the time. I can't tell you how many times I've thought about what it would be like for us to be together but we just push each other's buttons"
Tris chuckles. He was right. They did push each other's buttons.
"That's an understatement. Look how well it worked out the last time we dated, we lasted what 10 minutes?"
"Well we were 11 and I think it was only 5 minutes technically" Tobias smiles.
"You really think about me like that? Even with…"
"Tris, I was so jealous when I saw you come into the dance with that dude. And I had no right to be but I was and it bugged me all night because I hated seeing you with him"
Tris scoffs "Yeah I wanted to grab Maria by her hair ever since she gave me that note to give to you." She pauses, not sure if she wants to ask her next question and hoping it wouldn't start an argument but she needed to know. " Why all the girls then Tobias? I need to know"
"Honestly Tris, because I could. That is so fucking shallow but it's the truth. And you, I respected too much to be like that with"
"Respected, come on Tobias, really"
"I'm being real Tris, you know a side of me that no one ever sees, sometimes not even Zeke and Uriah. Who lets me sleep on the floor when my parents argue? I've never told anyone that and I know you haven't either. I've trusted you for so long like I have no one else. You've always had my back even when I think you can't stand me, you will still do something that shows me you care just a little bit"
"Well I do care, I just…. I was scared to admit how I felt about you, how I wanted you to look at me, but knowing I wasn't the type…."
"Tris you are incredibly fierce and loyal, and beautiful, without all the make-up and the short skirts. You are my type. You are the one I thought about. I was scared that I guess you didn't want me."
Tobias grabs her hand and pulls her down to sit in front of him on the picnic table. He kisses her slowly, putting his hand.
"I love watching you on the court too. It probably gets me going more than seeing you in that dress last night. You look fine as hell today too. These jeans."
Tris smirks and goes in to kiss him again and he moves his hands to her waist and down to cup her behind giving it a quick slap that causes her to giggle. They kiss for a little while, letting their hands roam.
"So what now? Do you want us to be together? Didn't we kind of do this out of order' Tris asks when she breaks away from him breathless and smiling.
"Yes, if you are up for it I want us to be together…..I know, I need to take you on a real date. I umm...I never really asked anyone to be my girlfriend before. Well other than you actually"
"For Real?" Tris raises an eyebrow at him curiously. Of all the girls, she had really been the only one he really wanted to be with?
"For Real" he confirms looking her in the eye. "Beatrice Prior, you want to be my girlfriend again?"
Tris laughs and moves to straddle his lap and kisses him again. Her breathing increases as his hands move down to her behind and press her closer to him. She couldn't believe this was happening but she was beyond happy.
"Ummm my parents might freak out" She reasons as she bites her lip after she pulls away again.
"Everyone probably will, my parents too. Even though Uriah has been rooting for us for a while" He chuckles.
"Yeah, Susan doesn't let up about us needing to work out our sexual tension. Does this mean we get to have makeup sex now when we argue?"
Tobias snorts in a laugh. "I hope so"
"I do need to tell you something," Tris says, changing the subject and sobering.
Tobias furrows his eyebrows wondering what could be the problem.
"Zeke asked me to prom and I turned him down because Lauren had already set me up. He did say though that you were into me"
"Ahh, shit," Tobias thinks hard, he had no idea Zeke was into Tris. He hoped this wouldn't hurt their friendship. "Don't worry, I'll talk to him"
Tris nods and wraps her arms around his neck breathing in his scent as he hugs her tightly. They make plans for a real date the following Friday since Tris needed to see her sister that evening. He drives her to meet Lauren even though she insisted she could just go home and get her car since Caleb wasn't going anywhere. Tobias just wanted to hold her close, they share more kisses before she prys herself away at Starbucks.
Lauren smiles when she sees Tris walk in. She looked like she was glowing, She didn't think she had seen her this happy. She hands her favorite pink drink that she knew she would order.
"So how did the date go? I haven't talked to Eric today" Lauren presses as Tris gets comfortable and takes a sip of her drink.
"Ummm yeah about that…."
Tris launches into what happened and stops when Eric dropped her back home.
"Ugh, I'm glad you could handle yourself. I didn't he'd try anything but clearly, I was wrong"
"It's okay, I handled him fine. But I need you to help me get an appointment at the clinic" Tris throws in after she finishes her story.
"I thought nothing happened with you and Eric" Lauren raises her eyebrow looking at her younger sister.
"I didn't umm so last night I actually ….. Tobias and I..."
Lauren grins as she sets down her frappuccino.
"Well it's about damn time, I was beginning to think you two were never going to get together. So does that mean?"
"Yes we're together now" Tris tries to keep from smiling but she can't now as she is thinking about her and Tobias being together officially.
"Awe my baby sis has her first boyfriend" Lauren gushes clapping her hands lightly.
"Oh shut up, So I need the appointment because well last night…"
"Tris, you didn't…."
"Ehhhh It just kind of happened" Tris bites her lip and raises her eyebrows in her expression.
"Please tell me you used a condom," Lauren asks now with a serious look on her face. She knew how naive and old-fashioned her parents were. Lauren had made sure that the twins knew what they needed to in regards to safe sex. Caleb and Tris had both promised to come to her when they started having sex
"Yes we did but I want to get on birth control" If she and Tobias were going to do this, she didn't want to think about how an unplanned pregnancy could mess up her college playing career.
"That's my girl. I got you, we can get you an appointment at a community health center near campus and we don't have to put in on Mom and Dad's insurance"
"Something else happened" Tris grins and she pulls out her Dauntless scholarship letter from her bag.
"Oh my God! Why didn't you tell me this first! This is so much more major than boys!" Laurens exclaims loudly and Tris laughs as half the people in the Starbucks turn around to look at their table.
Tris and Lauren talk for a while and Tris convinces her to come home for dinner since she had to drop Tris off anyway. Things were finally looking up and Tris was ready for the next phase of her life.
