Hope everyone in the US had a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for each one of you that read my stories and leave a review!
It was refreshing that night for Tobias to come through the front door that evening instead of through the window. They had an 8 am flight so they would be up early anyway.
"It was kind of weird to come through your bedroom door instead of the window and have your parents say goodnight," Tobias says playfully as he sets his alarm on his phone before crawling into bed with Tris.
She giggles as she slides closer to him so he can put his arm around her.
"So our mothers and my sister kind of wore me down about a wedding reception this afternoon"
Tobias chuckles, he had assumed as much would happen.
"I told them that I would think about it as a vow renewal next year but I just have so little downtime it's kind of impossible to know how to plan"
"I like that idea, You know it would be one hell of a party with our friends"
"Yeah it would be" Tris replies as she stared off toward the TV while rubbing her fingers across his arms.
"What are you thinking about?" He asks, noticing her tone change. "We don't have to have any kind of reception if you don't want Tris, remember this is just about us, not what everyone else wants"
"Oh, it's not that, I was just thinking about how much I enjoyed going to visit Hector and seeing all the students and talking to them. I never get a chance to do stuff like that. Stuff like planning a wedding, its hard only having a few weeks off between seasons"
Tobias kisses the side of her forehead. It wasn't fair how hard she worked for not even half of what he made. They had a conversation about finances the night before and Tobias was appalled when they went over her contract numbers. He knew there was a pay disparity but it was insane.
"Well if I don't get picked up, it will be easier for us, and I can be with you in Rome. Maybe I can be your personal assistant"
Tris chuckles at the thought. She had actually talked to her mother about handling some things for her the past few days since Natalie was trying to be more understanding and involved with her career now.
"We don't even know if they are going to cut you yet, stop thinking the worst"
"I need to think about what I would do though. I wish I would have taken school more seriously"
"You can always go back"
"Yeah, I know….I have no idea what I would do though"
"I think you could be a good announcer and you don't necessarily need to go back to school for that"
Tobias hmms in thought. He had a feeling he was going to get cut. He knew Tris was trying to be positive about the situation but the writing was on the wall. The only good thing was they would have to buy him out of the last year of his contract. He wasn't going to be pressed for money anytime soon, especially now that he didn't have Nicole's high spending every month draining him. Even though he hated to admit it, he sees why his father pressed so hard for him to stay in school. One thing he knew for sure was he had an uphill battle with training over the summer.
"I know I finished school and have a plan for when I can't play anymore but I think it will be hard for me to give it up whenever I stop, it's such a huge part of who I am"
"Yeah, I think you were missing from me enjoying playing, I had convinced myself that I was okay if I wanted to retire but not now. I just want to have fun playing again"
"You can get back Tobias, I know you can," Tris says. She meant it, she wasn't just gassing him up. Tobias was a damn good ballplayer, he just needed to reconnect with his passion for the game.
"Do you want to only play for one team next year, I mean you make more money in Rome than in Chicago" Tobias asks. He could sense she was tired of her grueling schedule.
"The thing is I don't love Rome, the only reason I made it this past season was because of Nita."
"Oh," Tobias says quietly, he hadn't thought their relationship seemed that deep.
"Not because we were together, just because I literally had a friend. It sounds fun playing overseas, being in a city that everyone dreams of vacationing in, but it can be miserable. I don't speak the language, I hardly see any other Black people, All the TV is dubbed in Italian, sometimes all I want is to go to Zaxby's or Chick Fila. And I miss so much going on here…"
"Babe, if you're that unhappy you don't have to go back," Tobias says turning her so he can look in her eyes.
"I know, it's just frustrating. I want to be able to do more speaking engagements, do a basketball camp here stuff like that but I'm winning championships there and I also get to build a nest egg if I can't play anymore one day"
Tobias knows Tris didn't need him to take care of her, she wouldn't want him to either but he was determined to work hard over the summer. Maybe if he could secure a new contract she would consider not going back to Rome.
The next morning, Andrew drives Tris and Tobias to the airport for their early flight. Eager to finally consummate their marriage as soon as they landed, Tris couldn't stop touching Tobias as they shared a pair of headphones to watch a movie over the 2-hour flight that neither one of them paid much attention to. They spend the entire flight whispering naughty things to each other, Tobias sneaking light kisses on her jaw, Tris lightly running her fingers over his. They had received the results of their STD tests earlier in the week so they were in the clear. There had been several heated makeout sessions at night and a few times Tobias had slipped his hands inside of her sleep shorts. The closest they had gotten was the morning Natalie knocked on Tris's door. Tris thought she would go insane if they had to wait another day.
Tobias hired a car service to pick them up since there was so much luggage between the two of them. Tris giggles the entire ride from O'Hare to her condo as Tobias continues his teasing, running his hand over her thighs lightly. Tris hadn't been in her condo for seven months but Uriah and Christina checked in on it and Zeke and Shauna stayed there the month before when visiting Uriah. Tobias liked the feel of it as he looked around, it was pretty spacious with two bedrooms and two bathrooms with an open concept living room and kitchen. Tris and Uriah had the same layout just on different floors of the building He was excited that Uriah lived in the same building as well. He knew how hard it was during the season to really hang out if you weren't in the same city. He hadn't spent any time with Uriah since the last off-season other than one night when the Hornets were in Chicago to play the Bulls. They talked on the phone here and there and texted but Tobias was looking forward to hanging out on the regular with him again.
Tobias had barely gotten all their luggage inside and closed the door when Tris leaps up in his arms.
"I can't wait anymore Baby" Tris whines as she kisses him and wraps her legs around his waist.
"Fuck neither can I" Tobias groans as he grips her thighs. "Where the fuck am I going?"
Tris laughs, looks up, and directs him straight back to the bedroom. As soon as he sets her down they both frantically tear off each other's clothes and climb onto the bed.
Tobias places himself between her legs and grins as she puts her fingers in his curls atop his head and guides his head to where she wants him.
"You're still the only one I've done this to," Tobias tells her before he puts his mouth to the work.
Tris groans in appreciation as he watches him. That admission also could have sent her over the edge.
Tris had always let him take the lead, her demanding what she wanted was new but oh so sexy. She was vocal in telling him to give her more when she needed it and he happily obliged, speeding up the motions of his tongue, sucking when she asked, and sliding two fingers inside when she begged. Her climax practically lifted her off the bed as Tobias wrapped his arms around her legs to keep her in place.
When she whines and squirms to get away as she was sensitive after her orgasm he sits up and sits up on his knees near the head of the bed so she could take him in her mouth. Tris flipped on her belly to get a better angle. Tobias grabs the back of her head as he hisses in pleasure as she sucked slow and deliberate. Tobias threw his head back, as she moaned. He wanted to be inside her but everything about this was fucking amazing.
"Baby I don't want to cum yet" he pleads as she picked up her pace. He chuckles when she pulls away pouting. Tobias moves to sit against the headboard and Tris crawls into his lap, slowly lowering herself onto him. In that very instant things changed, it was no longer about the need to satisfy the sexual tension between them, it was about being connected to each other.
"Tobias" She whispers as he pulls her as close as he can cupping her behind so he could hold her. They stare into each other's eyes not moving, their heavy breathing the only sound in the room.
"I love you, Tris, so much I don't think I can put it into words" Tobias whispers.
He feels so many emotions washing over him, peace, gratitude, hope, love, and tears well up in his eyes as looks up at his wife. She was literally the best thing to ever happen to him. Tris was equally emotionally, tears spill from her eyes. No one could bring out this in her but him.
"I love you too, so much, more than anything"
She starts to slowly move against him, he moves his hands across her body, cupping her breast to slowly tease her nipple, nipping and sucking slowly. As her breathing picks up, Tobias switches to her other breast to show it equal attention as she continues to slowly grind against him never picking up the pace, loving the feeling of him. Tobias caresses her face, putting his hand in her curly hair. Tris turns her head and plants a soft kiss on his wrist.
Tobias thought she was so beautiful like this, her lips slightly parted as she enjoyed the feeling of him inside her. She places her hands on his knees so she can try and get as close as possible to him. She didn't want any space between them.
She feels herself about to let go and brings her hands to hold Tobias's head so she can kiss him with everything she has. Her lips tremble over his as she feels him let go with her. Tris hugs him to her chest as they both don't want to let each other go. Tris feels the tears again. She felt like she was whole again. They both feel like nothing exists outside of them at that moment. It was their own little slice of heaven.
"I feel like I'm whole again" Tobias whispers as he leans back and cradles her face so he can wipe away her tears, this time letting his own tears fall. To be with her like this again, joined was like no other time they had been together.
"Me too" she breathes out realizing they both had been thinking the same thing.
Tris and Tobias make love all day and into the night, sleeping for a bit, talking, and then getting lost in each other again. They don't think about food, their phones, or anything outside their bed. Tobias loves how Tris is more comfortable in her body, more vocal about what she wanted. Sex had always been great between them, but now, he had no idea how he was going to get enough of her. Tris thinks that Tobias is more attune to her needs as he worships her body and their connection was stronger than it ever had been.
"I still can't believe this is real" Tris whispers around midnight.
"I know, but it is, and I'm never letting you go again" he promises as he plays with her hair.
Tris snuggles into his side feeling the warmth of his body. She feels her body start to drift off to sleep again. Sure they could be on some island somewhere for a real honeymoon, but this right here with him was all she needed.
Around 7 the next morning, Tris wraps the blanket from the bed around her and she climbs on top of Tobias who was still sleeping. She runs her hands down his thighs, she lightly traced the scar from his knee surgery. She has every intention of giving him a wonderful surprise to wake up to when he starts to stir.
"Woman, I need food" Tobias groans without opening his eyes as Tris laughs and scoots up to straddle his lap instead of his legs.
"You're no fun" she complains as she laughs and tickles his side. Tobias shrieks as she gets his ticklish spot on his side.
"Is this your plan all summer, keep me chained to the bed ?" Tobias teases as she finally opens his eyes to see his wife smiling atop him.
"Hmmmmm now that you mention it, I kind of like that idea"
Tobias grins, he wanted nothing more than to stay in bed with Tris but he knew they would have to emerge from their bubble soon. He grabs his phone and taps quickly ordering the first place from Door Dash that he could find open.
"Breakfast is ordered, now where were we? I'm about to show you how fun I can be" He grunts as he grabs Tris and throws her onto the bed as she squeals with delight.
"Yes, Sir Mr. Eaton" Tris moans as he kisses his way down her body.
"Hey, Tris, what's there to eat in here?" Uriah says as he looks in her fridge.
She loved that she and Uriah lived in the same building. It was like college all over again, especially for the few months when he and Tris were there at the same time. He had a key but only used it when she wasn't there. If Caleb, Zeke or Hana, and Reggie came to visit they would stay in Tris's apartment while she was in Rome instead of having to stay in a hotel.
"I swear you only come over to eat my food," Tris says with an eye roll as she walks to the living area plops down on the couch after closing the door behind Uriah. Tris and Tobias had finally come up for air after a day and a half of constant sex and take out. Tris had ordered groceries and made a real meal the night before. Tobias was impressed with how great a cook his wife was.
The regular NBA season was now officially over but the Bulls were in the playoffs so there wasn't going to be any downtime for Uriah just yet. Uriah had just gotten home from a road trip for the first round of the playoffs and had a few days off before the quarter-finals started. He was excited to see Tris. He was dying to ask her about her and Tobias. Tobias had been oddly elusive the past week saying they would catch up soon. Christina hadn't been able to crack Tris either so he was hoping she would give him something that day.
Tris and Tobias hadn't told anyone but their parents Caleb and Lauren that they were back together and married. They were trying to figure out a way to tell everyone but Tris resigned that they should just call Lynn and Kima since Christina would be in Chicago the next week.
"You always have good food when you're home" Uriah reasons as he pulls out what looks like leftovers from the fridge.
"Doesn't Christina cook for you?" Tobias calls out as he emerges from the bedroom pulling a shirt on over his head.
Uriah just about chokes on the water he was drinking when he sees Tobias.
"Damn Bro, I didn't mean for you to choke" Tobias laughs coming over as Uriah wipes his face before pulling Tobias into a hug.
"So you two were just not going to tell anyone you were back together?" Uriah laughs out as he shakes his head.
"This was way more fun" Tris yells from the living room.
"Chris is going to flip" Uriah decides as pulls another container from the fridge.
"I figured sending a group text was a bit much but I haven't had time to call everyone" Tris announces.
"Yeah I bet you haven't, you two have probably been going at it like rabbits" Uriah reasons and dodgers a playful punch from Tobias.
"Shut up, Chris will be here next week right?" Tris asks.
She'd been so wrapped up in Tobias and getting settled she realized she really needed to catch up with her friends. So much had happened since Christina's graduation just two weeks ago. It wasn't that she was necessarily worried about their reaction. They all knew Tris was still in love with Tobias and since he had rekindled his friendship with Caleb, and Uriah everyone could see that Tobias needed Tris and how he wasn't happy with Nicole.
"Yeah, She's packing up the rest of her stuff. She starts work in the middle of next week. I'm glad you are here T., this is going to be a great summer."
The NBA playoff could be grueling with having to alternate cities every three days. Uriah and the Bulls just won against the Brooklyn Nets but now we're going to take on the Atlanta Hawks so he would be back and forth to Atlanta now.
"You think you can take down Trae Young?" Tobias asks.
"We get game one of the next series here so I think so. It's the Bucks I'm really worried about Antetokounmpo is a beast. You coming to Game 1? I got extra tickets, Caleb, Zeke, and My Mom and Dad are coming up for the series too"
"No Doubt, I'll be there. Will should be here tomorrow too, he's spending some time with his family over the off-season, he's said he wants to train with us."
Uriah places some of the pasta Tris made before in the microwave as he and Tobias talk about the upcoming series. Tris takes the opportunity to Facetime Christina since Uriah was here.
"I was about to put an A.P.B. out on you Chica" Christina fusses.
"I know, I was insanely busy last week."
"Ummm hmmm I bet you were, So spill it, Are you and T. back together"
Tris grins as she walks over to the kitchen.
"Hey Babe" Uriah yells between bites.
"Well if it isn't T Money," Christina says with a saucy grin as Tris moves to set her phone on the counter so Christina can see her and Tobias as Tobias rolls his eyes and laughs.
"So I thought about waiting until you were here in person but I figured we could let the cat out of the bag now," Tris says dramatically as she leans into Tobias and he wraps his arms around her waist pulling her back to his chest.
"Clearly you two are back together again, Tobias is going to be training with us over the summer, what else is there?" Uriah asks putting down his fork.
Tobias looks at Tris and smiles as she nods her head.
"Tris and I aren't just back together, we got married last week," Tobias says with a grin as gives Tris a kiss on her ear.
Christina blinks her eyes and her mouth falls open on the camera. Uriah stares at her for a minute then looks back to Tris and Tobias.
"Wow, I think this is the first time I have literally seen the two of you speechless….." Tris comments quietly.
"Ummm, well Congratulations?" Uriah says awkwardly after a moment.
"I'm sorry, I'm just I don't know what I am...Tris I literally saw you two weeks ago and you had no idea what you were going to do and now you're married?" Christina reasons trying to understand how they got here so fast.
"We know it's sudden, but when we decided we wanted to be together and we wanted to be all in" Tobias adds.
"We don't expect it to make sense to anyone else. It makes sense to us and that's all that matters for us."
"Okay, it's not that I'm upset or anything, We all wanted you two to get back together, I'm just shocked that you two just skipped right to getting married" Uriah.
"If you two are happy, we are, I think we just want to make sure you're good for that kind of commitment," Christina says trying to find the right words.
Tris leans back and twists her head, Tobias gives her a quick kiss.
"Oh we are," she says.
Uriah and Tobias go off to the living room to talk about training plans once Uriah's season is over. While Tris and Christina continue to chat, with Christina wanting to hear all about their wedding ceremony. They add Lynn and Marlene to the call so Tris can tell them as well. Marlene confessed that Caleb slipped and told her the day before and she had been dying to talk about it. The girls chatter on asking about the ceremony, Tris shows them her tattoo.
"It wasn't like we wanted to hide it forever, but we knew people would freak out. We just wanted it to be about us." Tris explains.
"If this is what you want I'm here for it, you deserve to be happy Tris," Marlene says honestly. To her, it made sense even if other people didn't get it.
"Yeah Me too Prior" Lynn adds.
"Well, we knew this was coming" Tris sighs as she looks at her phone. Practice was going well and the WNBA season was starting in a week, she knew eventually Nicole was going to ruin the blissfully little bubble they were in. She and Tobias were snuggled on the couch for the evening. She hands it to Tobias so he can see the ShadeRoom Report.
"T Money Leaves Pregnant Fiancee for Ex-Girlfriend"
Nicole had posted a series of stories about her being alone and pregnant that the gossip blogs were eating up. The pictures of Tris and Tobias with Hector's class had made the rounds adding to the speculation.
"We have to say something T. I'm not going just stand by and let her drag you through the mud. The fact that she fucking got pregnant on purpose shows what kind of trash person she is"
Tobias sighs. He knew this would happen, this had always been Nicole's angle. He knew people were going to look at him and see him as a cheater and bad person but Tris had nothing to do with it and he wanted to keep her out of it. The last thing he wanted to do was start a petty back and forth battle. Da Baby and Danny Leigh's situation was still playing out with him putting her out a few months after giving birth. He didn't want to play into Nicole's hands by arguing with her on social media but he wasn't sure of what else to do.
"Yeah they way she's making it seem like I'm not making sure she's taken care of is ridiculous"
Tris turned back to the TV, she had to make a statement, she just needed to think about it.
Later that week, Caleb, Zeke, and Will are in town for Uriah's playoff game. The guys all get together to go out for dinner before Uriah heads to Atlanta for his next playoff game. Uriah and the Bulls battled with the Hawks and won the two games of the series. It felt like old times again from their freshman year of college with Will, Caleb, Zeke, Uriah, and Tobias all together again. There was less tension between Zeke and Tobias, they were cordial to each other which Tobias was glad that they could at least have that.
"So how's married life?" Caleb teases as he takes a swig of his beer.
"Really good, despite everything else going on…" Tobias answers honestly.
"You still nervous about getting cut?" Uriah asks.
"Yeah, I'll figure it out though" Tobias was frustrated but determined to work harder than he ever had.
"What else is going on besides that?" Caleb asks sensing it was something else.
"I see Nicole has been running her mouth about you breaking up with her" Will adds. He could tell that Tobias seemed lighter, happier than he had been in the past year, even before his knee injury.
"Well, It's not really that. I'm going to be a father…." Tobias decides to rip the bandaid off. It was happening, he was shocked Nicole hadn't blasted it all over her Instagram page yet.
"Tris is pregnant?" Zeke exclaims as Caleb and Uriah look confused.
Tobias sighs. "No, Nicole is"
"Fuck Bro" Uriah shakes his head "I didn't think those rumors were actually true when I saw it"
"Yeah unfortunately they are" Tobias admits
"Does Tris know?" Zeke asks
"Yes, she does, she knew before we decided to get married"
Zeke nods his head. He had wanted to scream at Tris to think about what she was doing when she told him about her and Tobias. Part of him was sure Tobias would flake on her as soon as he had the chance but he had been trying to prove to Shauna that he was over Tris and he couldn't get wrapped up in their drama.
When Tris goes to practice the next day, Tobias takes time to call his mother before his first workout with Christina.
"Have you called Nicole?"
"No" Tobias scoffs. "Why would I?"
"Tobias, regardless of how that baby was conceived, you are the father and you need to support her through the pregnancy"
Tobias sighs he knows his mother was right. He was determined to be a good father. He and Nicole were going to have to communicate whether he liked it or not.
As soon as he hangs up with his mother he calls Nicole. More than one time he ends up putting the phone down to pinch his nose in frustration about her dramatics.
He ended up agreeing to pay for all of her medical care related to the pregnancy because she didn't have any insurance and a cheaper apartment than the condo. Niles, his lawyer said it was reasonable since Nicole's main source of income was modeling even if she had been living off Tobias, she wouldn't book any jobs while pregnant and a judge would rule in her favor if she took him to court. Even though Niles was confident they could get some things in place if Nicole tried to drag him through the mud, Tobias was still uneasy. He had a feeling at some point this was going to get even messier.
"So I've been thinking about something, it's normally not my style but I know Nicole is already running her mouth about you breaking off your engagement and leaving her pregnant. I would love not to be the Khloe Kardashian in this situation" Tris says as they unpack the groceries that were just delivered.
"Ugh...I feel like such an idiot for putting myself in this situation with her" Tobias groans.
"Again, we have to beat her at her own game. I've been doing a lot of research on PR and branding. We are going to be in the spotlight, we can embrace it or run from it. If we embrace it, we use it to our advantage"
"I'm listening," Tobias says slowly as he hands her a carton of eggs for the fridge.
"We can either be Beyonce and Jay Z who are so private and mysterious, people dig for information on them or we can be Russel Wilson and Ciara or Steph and Ayesha Curry, the relationship goals couple who everyone adores"
"So be open about everything in hopes that people love us?" Tobias asks, thinking he was understanding where she was going.
"Yeah, I mean be real about our relationship and our journey in reconnecting again. People root for real love but that doesn't mean we have to overdo it. We still keep what we want private. We are not going to put all our business out there"
"So Russel and Ciara?" Tobias raises an eyebrow with a grin.
"Russel and Ciara" Tris confirms.
"So you want to make some big statement about us being together?"
"More like let it be known and roll with it," Tris says with a big smile.
"Okay, what are you planning over there Mrs. Prior-Eaton"
"You'll see, I just need one of your jerseys"
