"Why do you keep checking your phone?" Tris as curiously as she, Lauren, Marlene, Lynn, and Christina have lunch and a day of pampering in downtown Chicago. Marlene had looked at her phone for what seemed like the millionth time over lunch.
Uriah and Tobias were training even though training camp didn't officially start until the next week, the two had been putting in work with George and Christina all summer. Uriah had suffered a knee sprain in May so Christina was thankful for the break so he could rest and rehab a little more after he pushed himself during the finals. The Bulls had just won their second championship in a row and things were going well.
Caleb and Marlene had their small wedding at the end of June in Atlanta during Tris's road trip to play against Lynn and The Atlanta Dram. Christina and Uriah squeezed in their wedding in August in Chicago when the Dream came for their rematch against the Sky. Being around the past year had made Tris confident about her decision to quit the Euroleague. She and Tobias were starting a foundation that their mothers would head up, Tris already had an offer to do media spots for the NBA season and NCAA season. The custody hearing with Nicole had resulted in Tris and Tobias being awarded full custody of TJ. Nicole had only kept one of her monthly scheduled visitations so far which was further confirmation for Tris and Tobias that they had made the right decision. TJ was flourishing, they found him a great daycare in Lake Forrest where he was making friends, and having playdates. They could hear the improvement in his speech from the increased social interaction.
Tris was happy to have a few days off from the playoffs, they had just won their first round of the playoffs with a clean sweep of the Minnesota Lynx. She had suffered a hamstring injury that kept her out of a few games that season that was bothering her. Thankfully they had a few days to rest up while they waited for the outcome of the Connecticut/Washington series to see who they would be playing next. Lynn and the Atlanta Dream hadn't made it to the playoffs this year so she, Kima, and Journee had come to Chicago to cheer on Tris and spend some time with their friends.
"Oh nothing, your mom has Kai and Natalia, Natalia was a little fussy when I left to come up here, I think she might be coming down with a cold. You know they pick up all kinds of things at daycare" Marlene deflects giving Christina a wink when Tris goes to take a bite of her salad. Natalia was just over a year old now and so precious. Everyone thought she looked exactly like Tris, hazel eyes and all.
"So what's next on your schedule Chris?" Tris asks.
"Let's see we have massages and then hair and makeup" Christina rattles off.
"Hair and makeup? What event is this again?"
"It's a charity gala to support the Bulls Cares initiative"
"Oh, yeah I miss all the players' wives' stuff during the season," Tris says not remembering hearing about it but knowing that the wives all got together to assist with coordinating charity events for the greater Chicago area. She tried to be involved as much as she could during her off-season, but generally, Christina was way more active than she was.
Seeing that Tris seemed satisfied with their answers, Lauren waives for the waiter to bring the check so they can head off to their next destination.
Tris had to admit she needed the massage. The last series had been brutal she had tweaked her hamstring in Game 2 but it wasn't anything major. She was in heaven as the massage therapist worked out all the knots in her thighs and back.
After hair and makeup, the five ladies head to change into dresses for the event. Tris is shocked when Lauren tells her that her dress was already chosen for the evening.
"Where did these come from?" Tris asks looking confused.
"Oh look there's a note that goes with yours, Tris" Marlene grins as she hands her an envelope.
Tris busies herself with the undergarments that were laid out for her in the dressing room.
She gives herself a grin as she looks at her ass in the slim black lace thong.
"T. is going to love this" she murmurs to herself.
Once she puts on the black strapless black bra she remembers the note Marlene handed her when she went into the dressing room. Tris furrows her eyebrows as she opens it. Tears fill her eyes as she reads the words.

Since we never had the chance to plan our reception for our family and friends I thought today would be a great day to renew our vows.

Tris unzips the bag and gasps. Inside was an exquisite off-white gown with beading.
"Tris, can we help you in your dress?" Christina sing songs as she giggles on the other side of the dressing room door.
Tris opens the door to the dressing room and finds her best friends and her sister grinning from ear to ear dressed in matching strapless soft pink cocktail dresses and Lynn in a matching wide-legged pantsuit with the same strapless top and fitted bodice as the three dresses.
"You all were in on this?"
"But of course, who do you think picked out these fabulous ensembles?" Marlene gloats as Lauren moves into Tris's dressing room and takes the wedding dress out of the bag.
"How much was it?" Tris asks as she holds on to Christina's shoulders while Marlene helps her step into the dress.
"More than you would have spent so Tobias just gave me his credit card" Lauren scoffs as they help adjust the dress. It fit perfectly to Tris's body and dipped low in the back showcasing her athletic body and hugging her hips.
"These are from Ms. Natalie," Marlene says softly as she pulls out a small jewelry box.
"Oh, My mom is here?" Tris sniffles, as she takes the box, knowing her grandmother's pearls were inside.
"Yes she is and so is Daddy, Harrison, and Caleb" Lauren confirms.
"You guys, how the hell did you pull all this off with everything you have going on and the kids and planning your own weddings?" Tris holds her hair up for Lauren to place the pearls on her neck.
"Lauren, Ms. Natalie, and Ms. Evelyn did most of the work," Christina tells her.
The dress was beautiful, a lace strapless mermaid with a sweetheart neckline that accentuated Tris's hip and flared at the bottom. Tris literally feels like a princess once she is zipped up and Lauren places her grandmother's pearls around her neck.
"I'm so glad I'm a part of this. I know you and Tobias wanted to do things alone when you got married but I wanted this moment with you" Lauren whispers as she hugs Tris after fastening the pearls.
"I love you, Sis" Tris smiles taking a deep breath feeling the tears well up.
After making sure everything was in place, they make their way downstairs and a limo is waiting to pick them up.
"Can I at least know where we are going?" Tris whines once they are settled. She felt like she was about ready to bounce out of her seat with excitement.
"Nope, T wanted everything to be a surprise" Christina grins.
Tris shakes her head and laughs at how thoughtful her husband was being. When the car stops she anxiously looks out the window trying to get a glimpse of her surroundings. She gasps when she sees that they are at the Ritz Carlton right off Lake Michigan. Tris feels her eyes well up as she sees Hector, Fernando, Uriah, and Caleb waiting outside in grey tuxedos.
"Don't mess up your makeup" Lauren threatens as she sees her sister about to cry.
"I'm trying" Tris laughs as she holds her head back to keep her tears in.
Tris smiles as she watches Caleb give Marlene a kiss on the cheek as he helps her out of the limo. Uriah does the same thing to Christina.
Tris can't help but cry when her father exits out of the hotel to take her hand.
"Daddy you look so handsome" Tris gushes as she sees her father in a tuxedo and pink rose boutonniere that matched the bridesmaids' dresses.
"Well I'm happy I finally get a chance to walk you down the aisle"
"I'm sorry Daddy" It had been three years since she and Tobias were married and she hadn't realized how much a wedding meant to her parents and her siblings.
"Don't be sorry, no one has to do things the traditional way. You didn't need to do it like everyone else, that's never been, you Tris. You're my little girl, I've been with you for everything, I just wanted to be a part of this with you too"
"I'm glad you are still here for me Daddy and that we get to make this memory together"

Tris loops her arm around Andrew's and smiles up at him as they walk into the lobby. Andrew guides her toward the ballroom. Tris gasps as she sees outside of the ballroom Kai, TJ, Sienna, and Journee with Lynn, Marlene, Lauren, Caleb, Uriah, Hector, and Fernando.
TJ and Kai wore the same grey tuxedos as the other men. Tris thinks she has never seen anything so adorable in her entire life. Sienna and Journee wear soft-pale pink princess dresses with rhinestones along the bodice and matching tiaras.
"Auntie Tris" Kai and Sienna yell as they run toward her.
Tris bends down to their level opening her arms to them.
"Look at all of you" Tris was so overwhelmed. All the kids had been ring bearers and flower girls in Marlene and Caleb's wedding and Christina and Uriah's. Everyone joked that someone else needed to hurry up and get married because now they had been begging to get dressed up again.
"Do you like my princess dress Uncle Tobias got for me?" Sienna exclaims as she twirls around after hugging her aunt.
"Yes, I do Pretty Girl, you look so precious" She feels the tears start to fall, all her family was here, it was overwhelming.
"Why are you crying?" TJ asks as Tris hugs him.
"You look pretty Auntie Tris, don't cry" Journee exclaims as everyone chuckles.
"Yeah we don't want you to be sad," Sienna says with her lip wobbling.
"I'm not sad, I'm so happy," Tris says honestly cupping Sienna's face to calm her down.
"Daddy said you make him happy, that's why we got dressed up," TJ says as he hops up and down excitedly hugging Tris again. He had blossomed so much living with Tris and Tobias full time. He loved Tris so much it was clear.
"Yep, and now you get to get married like Mommy and Daddy," Kai replies hopping up and down too which makes Tris smile again.
"Well let's not keep everyone waiting" Andrew grins. All the kids let out gleeful squeals as they run towards Lauren and Marlene to get in place.
Tris stands up and dabs her eyes. Lauren hands her a bouquet of pink and white roses that match her smaller bouquet. The door to the ballroom opens and Lynn walks down with Hector, followed by Caleb and Marlene, and then Lauren and Fernando followed by Christina and Uriah.
TJ and Kai hold pillows and walk down the aisle. Journee and Sienna draw awes from the crowd as they toss pink rose petals down the aisle to Spend My Life by Eric Benet and Tamia.
Tris gasps as Andrew leads her down the aisle. She can't stop the tears now. In the ballroom full of guests she sees Tori, and the other assistant coaches from her time at Dauntless. Joanna and her entire Chicago Sky team along with the Bulls team. Kima smiles at her as Journee now sits in her lap. Evelyn and Natalie both dab their eyes. Hana hold Natalia in her arms who wore the same dress as Journee and Sienna. Zeke and Amar smile at her next to Hana and Reggie.
There at the end of the aisle flanked by their friends and family was Tobias, looking handsome as ever in his grey tuxedo, wiping his eyes as he watches his wife walk down the aisle toward him.
The minister says a few words but it's hard for Tris to focus on what he was saying. All she could do was look at the man she loved in front of her and smile.
"We are gathered here today for Tris and Tobias to reaffirm their love to one another in front of their friends and family. May this ceremony, renewing the vows you took to become husband and wife on your wedding day, remind you that despite the stresses inevitable in every life, your love, respect, trust, and understanding of each other will continue to increase your contentment and heighten your joy in living. Tobias, please reaffirm your commitment to your wife"
Tris hands Christina her bouquet and turns to place her hands in her husband's.
"Tris, I never thought it was possible to love you more than I did when we got married but I love you more every day. You are the love of my life. I think people who knew us always knew we couldn't stay away from each other even when we argued from morning until night"
Tris laughs and so does the audience.
"You've been the one person to not let me get my way, you push me to be a better ballplayer, a better father, a better man. As long as I have you, I can make it through anything"
The minister turns to Tris "Tris please affirm your commitment to your husband"
"Well seeing as I had no idea this was happening I didn't have time to write anything"
Everyone in the audience chuckles.
"Tobias, when we were 11, we had this thing, you pushed me down during our first basketball game with Zeke and Uriah and gave me this scar"
Everyone in the audience chuckles again as she points to the scar on her jaw and looks at the audience as Tobias hangs his head, his body shaking with silent laughter.
"But we were connected from that moment, you never left me, even with everything we went through. I know, we are supposed to be together, I don't want to do this thing called life without you, you are my heart, my soul, my other half. I'll always say yes, I'll always choose you" Tris chokes up and the end and Tobias brings their clasped hands to his lips for a kiss as his eyes burn with tears threatening to spill over.
"Well with that, kiss your wife" The minister instructs.
Everyone erupts in a chorus of applause and cheers as Tobias pulls Tris into a loving kiss.
They walk down the aisle and Tobias leads them to the ballroom next door and Tris gasps at the sight.
T. This is….I…" Tris stammers at the elaborate reception set up before her. The tables were adorned with pink sequin tablecloths, and pink, white and burgundy flower arrangements that matched Tris's bouquet.
"Do you like it, were you surprised?"
"Baby I love it, I can't believe you did all this. I honestly had no idea."
"I just whipped out my credit card honestly, Mom, Ms. Natalie, and Lauren deserve all the credit. Christina, Marlene, and Lynn pitched in too"
The coordinator comes to whisk the couple off to take pictures and Tris feels like her head is spinning from happiness by the time they make their way back to the reception.
Tris grins when the DJ starts to play I gotta be by Jagged Edge.
"You remembered," Tris grins as Tobias wraps his arms around her waist.
"Of course," Tobias whispers as she holds her close. He softly sings the lyrics to her again just like he did on the rooftop in Charlotte after their courthouse ceremony.
Tobias notices the flicker of lust in her eyes as they dance, there was love there but there was no mistaking that look that he knew well on his wife.
"I can't wait to thank you properly for everything" she whispers with a wicked grin.
"Oh I look forward to it" Tonight was definitely going to be a good night.
Tris laughs as she dances with her father to Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder. It makes her cry to see Tobias dance with Evelyn for their mother-son dance. She was happy they had these memories now. She wouldn't change their journey but this day had been beyond special.
As everyone sits down and starts to enjoy the meal served. Uriah gives his best man speech which has everyone laughing. Lauren doesn't disappoint, giving a funny recount of Tris and Tobias telling her family they were married and her dropping her fork in surprise.
When Johanna gets up to take the microphone from Lauren, Tris furrows her eyebrows in confusion.
"I have a special gift for Tris and I have a special guest to present this to her"
Tris gasps as she sees Cathy Englebert, commissioner of the WNBA make her way to Joanna along with a small camera crew.
"As all of you know, Tris Prior is an amazing basketball player, not only does she hold the Dauntless University all-time scoring and all-time assists records, she was the 2026 WNBA Rookie of the year. This year she had an outstanding season averaging 20 points per game"
Tris, with wide eyes and her mouth open, looks at Tobias who was grinning from ear to ear as he takes her hand and squeezes it. She starts to cry again knowing what was going on. At the end of the regular season, her name had been added to the list of MVP candidates. There were so many good players on the list she never thought she had a chance at winning. She had been so excited just to be included it never crossed her mind that she would win this season.
"I am pleased to announce that Tris Prior-Eaton is this season's WNBA Most Valuable Player"
Everyone cheers as Tris gets up to accept her award. Commissioner Englebert smiles as she holds the trophy that was specially crafted from Tiffany's every year, out for Tris.
"Speech, Speech!" Uriah yells and everyone laughs.
"As if this day hadn't already left me speechless, I definitely wasn't expecting this," Tris starts. She takes a moment to gather her emotions before speaking again as she feels her voice crack. She looks to see her mother, father, Lauren, Christina, Marlene, Lynn, and Tori wiping tears from their eyes.
"Being a woman and loving this sport hasn't been easy. Every time you think you overcome one barrier, there is another put in its place but all I ever wanted to do was play. As much as I want to say that hard work and determination made this possible, I couldn't have done it without everyone in this room. My teammates were always there to support me. Coach Wu, you still pick up the phone whenever I need you. Mommy, Daddy, Caleb, Lauren you've put so much into supporting me playing this sport my whole life. My DU girls, Amar, Zeke all of you have been there to keep me going when I doubted myself. And my husband, my God, Tobias"
Now Tris does start to cry again. Evelyn holds her hand to her chest overcome with emotion. It moved her to see how in love her son and daughter-in-law were. After all they had been through, they were finally living their happily ever after. There are more shouts of encouragement from her teammates as Tris collects herself to finish her remarks.
"Tobias, I wouldn't be here without you in my corner, without your love and support. This today, I just, I love you so much. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart. Sky, Let's go get a W tomorrow, this season isn't done"
All the Sky players stand up and cheer followed by everyone else. No matter what, Tris was going to give the remainder of the playoff everything she had.
"I'm so proud of you Tris," Tori tells her, giving her a hug.
"Thanks, Coach, you made all of this happen," Tris says honestly wiping another tear from her eye. Without Tori giving Tris that scholarship, she wouldn't be where she was today.
"You made all of this happen, I just gave you an opportunity and a nudge" Tori clarifies with a grin.
After more dancing and drinks everyone clears out, with Tris and Tobias staying in a suite at the Ritz while Evelyn takes TJ back to their house with the rest of the Priors for the night. As soon as they hit their suite, Tris turns so Tobias can help her out of her dress. He leaves slow kisses on her shoulders as he slowly pulls the zipper down.

"You always knew I could do it," Tris says after a few moments of silence and smiling, running a hand over his beard.

After a few moments, he moves the tickle Tris's sides and she shrieks in laughter wanting this moment to last forever.
The day that Tris and the Sky win the WNBA championship is another emotional day for Tris. The game was in Minnesota and training camp had already started for Tobias but he, Uriah, and a couple of the other players took a private flight as soon as their practice was over to catch the game.

"Yeah she's on fire, she's made 5 of her last 6 shots" Christina adds.
Tobias looked down their row, Evelyn, Natalie, Caleb, Zeke, and Andrew all looked like they were holding their breath. Natalie was bouncing Natalia on her hip while Lauren was trying to hold on to Sienna as she and Kai were playing but she looked like her eyes were glued to the floor.
Kima had Journee and TJ in the two seats next to her eating popcorn as Lynn and Marlene were pointing out strategies on the floor.
They could have gone to the box but everyone was so nervous with this being game 7 they had all opted for the seats in the stands right behind the bench wanting a closer view of the action. Since it was an away game they were surrounded by Lynx fans but it didn't matter.
Tobias and everyone hop out of their seats cheering when Tris steals the balls and runs it back down for a layup. Tobias grins as she quickly runs back on defense. On the next offensive play, Tris hits another 3-pointer and their entire row goes wild. The Lynx were dead in the water now with only 1 minute left to play. Tobias can see Tris start to cry as she smiled as the clock runs down knowing they didn't have any timeouts left. When the buzzer sounds Tris throws the ball in the air and her teammates swarm her. She'd finally done it, she was a WNBA champion.
She'd won games before but this was special. This was the thing she dreamed about since she was a little girl.
"Tris Prior, you're this years' MVP and a WNBA Champion. You dominated tonight with 25 points and 10 rebounds, How did you play such a strong game defensively and offensively?" Holly Rowe from ESPN asks Tris.
"Ummm, My teammates and I have been on this incredible journey, The city where I was born, the fans have been so amazing, supporting me and my team and this family we created. I just channeled everything into this game. I wanted this not just for myself but for everyone, my family, the fans, this championship belongs to everyone"
Tris is still breathing hard but she can't stop smiling. She squeals as the confetti comes down and she feels herself being lifted up and she realizes that Tobias and Uriah are lifting her up onto their shoulders.
When they finally put her down her teammates pull her into a hug. Tris takes a moment to soak in everything. This moment made everything fall into perspective, all the struggles, the injuries, the ups and downs, this moment was what it was for. Tris smiles when Tobias comes toward her again, this time with TJ in his arms, and pulls her in for a kiss.
"You did it," TJ says wrapping his arms around her neck and Tris pulls him into her arms, holding him close.
Tobias smiles as she watches Tris and TJ. The only day he thinks he's seen her this happy was on their wedding day.
She was living her dream, they were living together it together, and all he wanted was to make her happy every day for the rest of their lives.
