Tris takes a deep breath as the timer goes off on her phone. She was so nervous. She and Tobias had been trying to get pregnant for a year now. She knew it would take some time after having her IUD taken out but month after month there was disappointment when her period came.

"Well…." Tobias asks through the screen. He was on Facetime from San Antonio where he was playing the next day. TJ was fast asleep, Tris having read him a story and tucked him in before she called Tobias.

"Baby, I'm so nervous…" Tris admits feeling her hands shake with anxious energy. She didn't know how much more disappointment she could take.

"Well I can't help from here, you have to go look, Tris"

"I know, I know" Tris argues with an eye roll that causes Tobias to chuckle.

Her period was 4 days late. Christina and Marlene had convinced her to take a test even though she was trying not to get her hopes up again. This had happened three times already in the past year and each time Tris had been crushed and reduced to tears. She shakes her body trying to get the jitters out as she walks into their bathroom and looks at the counter. Her eyes start to well with tears immediately when she looks at the test.

Tobias sighs. He hated seeing her cry. They had both agreed that if this test was negative Tris would make an appointment to see a fertility specialist just to make sure there weren't any problems since they had been trying for a year now. She had talked at length with Kima and Lynn about the invitro process and Tobias was on board if that's what it would take.

"I'm sorry Baby," Tobias says quietly as he blows out a breath, wishing he was there to hold her. This was the hard part about road trips. TJ needed routine and was in school now. When he was smaller Tris could just come with him but they both understood it was better for TJ and Tris to stay home unless it was a school break. He wanted to be there with her through this but video chat would have to do tonight.

"Tobias, look" Tris whispers as she points the camera to the test, her hands shaking.

Tobias grins as he sees the two pink lines. Tris wipes her tears as she pulls the camera back to her face but more tears come.

"Baby, I'm so happy" Tobias gushes letting out a sigh of relief and fighting back his own tears as he looks at Tris. She was smiling but still crying now.

"I can't believe it," she whispers. "We're having a baby"

"I love you, Tris," Tobias tells her, wiping a few tears of his own. He had been worried that it had taken so long for them to conceive but now he knew everything was going to be okay.

Tris waits until Tobias gets home from his road trip the following week to schedule her first doctor's appointment so he can be present knowing that these little things he wasn't involved in when Nicole was pregnant with TJ.

Tobias was expecting Tris to be emotional with the journey that had been on for the past year but the tears overtake him too when the ultrasound machine pumps out the heartbeat of their child.

"That's our baby" Tris whispers.

"Wow" is all Tobias can muster up, his voice full of emotion as he wipes tears from his eyes.

"Correction, that's babies," The doctor says with a grin as moves the ultrasound wand to a different part of Tris's belly with one hand and punches a few keys on the keyboard to capture the image.

"Excuse me what?" Tris says with her eyes wide.

"Holy Shit" Tobias whispers as he sits up straight quickly.

"Aren't you a twin Tris?" The doctor asks as she points to the two blurbs on the screen to show Tris and Tobias what she was seeing.

"Yes, but I just...I didn't think..." Tris babbles off placing her hand on her forehead smiling.

"Definitely worth the wait" Tobias grins as he leans over Tris to give her a kiss while she laughs.

As soon as Tobias gets home from practice that evening he wastes no time showing his wife just how much he was in love with her. He lavishes her with attention that night after they put TJ to sleep.

"So how are we going to announce this?" Tris asks as they lay naked together in their bed. "I know most people like to wait before they tell the world but the minute I report this to the league they have to put me on the injury report for the season and it will be all over everywhere. I don't want everyone to find out that way and I only have 6 weeks before training camp, I won't even be showing then I don't think. Skylar Diggins-Smith played the 2018 season pregnant. I think I would like to talk to Dr. Mathews about that first before we make a final decision especially since I'm carrying twins."

"I know you know your body, but I feel like I would worry too much if you played this season. What if you took a charge or an elbow to the stomach," Tobias thinks for a minute.

"I see your point" Tris agrees, playing this season hadn't been her first thought. "I do get maternity leave pay though"

"I don't care about the money Tris, I care about what's healthy for you and the babies."

"Yeah, I get it, I do want to enjoy this pregnancy and not carry the stress of the season on me knowing that I wouldn't be giving my best either. I"m already exhausted. I have no idea how Skylar did it"

Tobias picks up her arm and gives the inside of her wrist a soft kiss. He was glad Tris wasn't being stubborn about this.

"I have an idea, how about we do something like what you did when we announced we were married? It would be fun and TJ could be involved"

"I like that idea, he's going to be so excited but I have an idea to take to the next level" TJ had been practically begging for Tris and Tobias to have a baby. Tobias thought it was the sweetest thing ever when we asked Santa Claus to bring him a baby brother or sister at Christmas.

"Are you happy?" Tobias asks her as he runs his hands over her belly.

"I am, really, Like so happy I don't think I can put it into words"

Tobias places a soft kiss on her lower belly and she runs her fingers through his curls.

"Do you know how happy you make me?" Tobias asks looking up at her.

"Very I hope" Tris teases.

"Tris you are the light of my life, I'll never regret TJ, but this, you and me having our own babies, I'm so excited. I wanted this for us, for our family"

Tris smiles, she knew what he meant. She couldn't see their life without TJ, but growing their family...This was a magical moment for the two of them, creating life out of the love they shared.

On a day that Tobias has off between games, Tris sets up a small video shoot at the United Center before the Bulls practice later that afternoon. Christina comes to help with Tris's makeup and makes sure Tris gets the vibe she was going for with the overall shoot. The doctor told Tris could do some light playing, and strength training for the time being so she can't help herself from shooting around with Tobias. It had been six weeks since she found out she was pregnant and she was going to have to let the cat out of the bag to Joanna and the Sky the next week since she would be 12 weeks along.

"This is the cutest freaking idea. Don't be mad but I'm stealing this for Uriah and I's next pregnancy announcement" Christina informs Tris as she makes sure everything looks perfect.

"Steal away," Tris teases knowing Chris and Uriah wanted more kids.

She and Tobias stage a game, dribbling and making a few shots. Tobias and Tris had taught TJ how to dribble as soon as he could walk at 6 now he was showing progress on basic skills. Tris had TJ fitted for his own Bulls jersey with Tobias's name and number. She had her own custom Bulls jersey with her number and Prior-Eaton on the back. They do a change with everyone wearing Chicago Sky jerseys.

Christina directs a few shots for the crew to take still photos and they have a bulls onesie and sky onesie with two pairs of baby Adidas sneakers.

The video company works great getting Tris and Tobias the video by the end of the week as well as some great still shots to use. There are tears of joy from everyone on their family and friends' Zoom call when Tobias and Tris play the video for everyone.

"TJ are you excited?" Hector asks his nephew who was sitting in Tris's lap.

"I get to be a helper since I'm going to be a big brother now," TJ giggles as Tris kisses the side of his head.

Everyone laughs and all of a sudden Caleb speaks up and Tris grins seeing the wheels in his head-turning. She had told him a few weeks ago, knowing that Marlene had told him about her taking a pregnancy test and that she couldn't hide anything from him anyway. She couldn't believe that had managed to keep the fact that they were having twins from everyone.

"Wait, Hold up everyone, are you having twins?" Caleb asks after processing through the video.

Tobias grins wondering if anyone else caught the end message.

"Wait what!" Lauren squeals.

"I thought it meant you didn't know if you were having a boy or a girl" Evelyn fans herself with tears rolling down her cheeks from happiness.

"Yes, the doctor confirmed we are having twins" Tris grins just as big as Tobias. She knew they ran in her family but she assumed they would skip a generation from her and Caleb.

"We get two babies!" TJ says proudly from Tris's lap as he holds up two fingers to the camera as everyone laughs.

"Oh, my word!" Natalie beams.

"Dear, I'm glad we kept this big house, we're going to need it when all our grandkids come visit" Andrew laughs out looking at his wife.

She looks at her mother and father and how big their smiles were. Tobias and TJ were both still smiling. Things were about to get hectic with two babies coming but she wouldn't have it any other way.

The next morning, after Tobias drops TJ off at school, Tris calls Johanna to tell her the news. She was overjoyed and fully supportive of Tris taking the season off to expand their family. The Sky would miss her that season, with Tris due at the end of January her doctor said if she felt good and if there weren't any complications, she would be fine by training camp the following season.

"You ready?" Tris asks as she and Tobias look at their phones, both ready to hit send on their social media post with the pregnancy announcement video.

"Let's do it," Tobias says.

Within 5 minutes both their notifications were blowing up.

"I think we broke the internet today" Tobias chuckles later that afternoon.

"I'm always amazed at how people get excited for us that have never met us. The comments are so cute, can you believe people are already asking us what we're naming the babies" Tris says as she looks at some of the comments.

"Please don't respond to any trolls, I don't need you getting worked up" Tobias warns.

"I'm not, We have some really supportive fans despite some trolls"

"That's true" Tobias and Tris's popularity had soared since they had gotten married. Both of them had almost 5 million followers. They had so many endorsements they posted more now which increased their popularity but they still kept many things private about their relationship.

"Can you believe Zeke just text me and said people already want to offer me endorsement deals about pregnancy clothes and stuff? I never thought about that, this is crazy. Its literally only been a day since everyone found out"

"You just worry about growing those babies" Tobias advises with a grin and drops a kiss on her belly.

Tris groans as Tobias wakes her up with kisses. Thankfully her morning sickness had subsided now that she was in her second trimester. She was sporting a baby bump now as the twins seemed to have shown up overnight. It was still weird to her not playing this season. She had been to every home game with the team and even most of the practices offering her support and advice where needed. Her teammates expressed how thankful they were for her leadership even though she wasn't physically playing with them that season.

"It's early, why are you awake?" Tris grumbles and Tobias chuckles. Tris had never been a morning person.

Tobias and Uriah had finally finished their NBA season winning their 3rd NBA championship against the Los Angles Lakers. She thought he would want to finally relax now that the victory parade was over and he was officially off until training camp at the end of September.

"Well if you don't want to miss our flight this afternoon, you might want to get up."

"Flight? What flight?" Tris asks confused, rubbing her eyes as she sits up.

Tobias grins as he hops out of bed and pulls on his lounge pants. He goes into the drawer of his nightstand and hands Tris a large manila envelope.

Tris empties the contents and gasps as she reads the documents. She and Tobias's passports were included along with travel documents for a 7 day trip to an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic.

"Are you serious?" She squeals with excitement.

"Very serious" Tobias grins.

"But I have to pack! What about TJ? This says this place is adults only..."

"Come on Babe, you know me better than that.." Tobias walks out to go into one of the guest rooms and comes back in wheeling two of their suitcases.

"Christina helped me pack your stuff while you and TJ were at that birthday party last Saturday. Remind me never to let her use my credit card again, I think she bought you a new swimsuit for every day of the trip" Tobias says with an eye roll.

TJ comes bursting through the door with his Chicago Bulls Pjs on and Tobias picks him up with one arm giving a playful groan.

"Hey buddy, do you sleep well"

"Yes" TJ grins wrapping his arms around Tobias's neck.

"Where are you and Mamma going?" he asks looking at the suitcases in the middle of the room.

"I'm taking Mamma on a vacation, and guess what?"

"What?" TJ asks with his eyes wide. "You get to have a sleepover every night this week with Kai, Natalia, Sienna, and Angel while Grammy, Nana, and Auntie Hana babysit you. Nana's going to take you to the zoo, Grammy's going to help you make pizza for dinner one night."

"Oh Boy!" TJ exclaims as he wriggles out of Tobias' arms and runs over to Tris who helps him climb into the huge Californa King-size bed.

TJ leans over and kisses Tris' belly "I'll miss you babies but this is going to be so much fun. I can't wait for you to meet all our cousins"

Tris smiles up at Tobias as she brushed TJ's curls back. He loved talking to the babies and Tris thought it was the most adorable thing that he wanted to tell them all about his day every night.

"Yes, Lauren, Harrison, Uriah, Chris, Marlene, and Caleb are all going with us"

"T," Tris says feeling tears well up in her eyes. Her pregnancy hormones get the best of her emotions. Tobias always found a way to spoil her.

Just as Tris is about to ask another question the doorbell rings and Tris gives Tobias a questioning look.

"That's probably your Uncle Uriah with everybody now"

"Whooo Hooo" TJ exclaims as he hops off the bed to follow Tobias downstairs to get the door as Tris gets up to grab a quick shower.

That man never ceases to amaze her.

"Why didn't ya'll tell me pregnancy sex was sooooo….Wow. I just wish my belly wasn't in the way" Tris grins as she rubs her growing belly. She, Marlene, and Christina were having lunch together before heading to Uriah and Tobias's game that evening. Marlene and Caleb had come up for a visit that week. She still had two more months before delivering even though her doctor expected her to deliver in the next six weeks as the babies would run out of room.

Marlene grins, she and Caleb just found out they were expecting baby number three the month before.

"I know a lot of women complain, but I love being pregnant, and yes, I thought I would feel grossed out about sex but damn the orgasms are so much more intense"

"Yeah, you just gotta lay on your side and let him lift your leg up while he lays down behind you..." Tris and Marlene laugh as Christina gives Tris some pointers that make Tris blush.

"So you and Caleb aren't done after this baby?" Christina asks as she takes a sip of her drink after Marlene stops laughing at Tris blushing. Kai was six now, Natalia was three, and Marlene was only eight weeks along now but she and Caleb both agreed they wanted at least one more.

"I don't think so, I think we might have one more" she shrugs with a smile. "What about you and Uriah? Angel needs a sibling"

Christina playfully rolls her eyes. "Well..."

"Oh my God! Chris for real!" Tris and Marlene look at each other and squeal.

"I thought you were back on birth control," Marlene asks.

"Yeah, we got a little careless. I can't believe I'm going to have two babies under three years old" Christina admits, a little embarrassed about their predicament.

"Well, this crazy family of ours is going to be full of babies!" Tris gushes as she leans over and puts a hand over Christina's.

Tris has a relatively easy pregnancy. She keeps a light workout routine under the watchful eye of her husband, George, and Christina. Natalie and Evelyn spend more time in Chicago when the NBA season starts to help out with TJ. Moving around with twins and her small frame and keeping up with a 5-year-old was more challenging than she thought.

As an alternative to a baby shower, Tris and Tobias throw a baby shower for three expectant mothers at a community center in Chicago and provide them with gifts that they would have received. Christina and Lauren still throw a small gathering for their friends and family to play some games and celebrate together at their home.

That night after Tobias reads TJ a story and tucks him into bed he joins Tris in their large garden tub.

"You feel okay?" Tobias asks as she laid with her back against his chest and plants a kiss on her shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm just tired, these babies are zapping my energy like they did the first three months I was pregnant"

Tobias squeezes body wash over her belly and gently rubs the luffa over.

"Ohhhhh" Tris grunts and she quickly grabs Tobias' hand and places it on the lower left side of her belly so he can feel the kick.

"I swear this one is a night owl" Tris chuckles moving her hand to the other side of her belly.

"Ha, this is so amazing" Tobias murmurs as he feels the strong kick. He didn't have these kinds of memories or chances when Nicole was pregnant with TJ especially since they weren't together. He cherished being here like this with Tris.

The day the twins arrive is a bit hectic, with Tobias hopping on a plane right after his game in Houston when he checks his phone after his media interviews and sees he has 10 missed calls from Tris and his mother.

Evelyn and Natalie had been in Chicago during his road trip to help with TJ since Tris was moving slower even though she was still a week away from her due date.

"My wife, she's having a baby," Tobias says frantically as he runs to the information desk as he dials his mother again.

"Oh, I found them thanks," He tells the lady as she smiles and shakes her head.

"Honey, where are you?"

"Did I miss it, I'm heading to the elevator"

"Calm down, everything is fine, We're in room 936"

Tobias breathes a sigh of relief as he pushes the buttons after hanging up with his mother.

"Hey, my love, I'm here now," Tobias says after sprinting from the elevator to Tris's room.

"Looks like you made it just in time," Natalie says as she wipes Tris' brow with a washcloth.

"How you feeling baby?" Tobias asks kissing her on the forehead. He wanted to be there for her every step of the way. He hated not being there when she went into labor.

"Like I'm about to push a fucking watermelon out of my vagina" Tris grumbles. They had opted for a natural birth. After talking with the anesthesiologist, Tris felt uncomfortable about the epidural, she wasn't willing to chance anything messing with her ability to walk or play basketball unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Beatrice" Natalie scolds.

"Leave her alone Natalie," Evelyn chuckles.

"Where's TJ?" Tobias asks looking up at his mother.

"With Christina, having a sleepover with Angel. I don't think he'll sleep a wink tonight, he was so excited the babies are coming"

Tobias holds Tris's hand as another contraction rolls over her.

"You're doing so good Baby" Tobias praises.

It's a few more hours before the twins make their debut and Tobias feels the adrenaline from everything leaving and sleep coming over him.

"Baby go take a nap" Tris chuckles as she holds one of the boys and Natalie holds the other as she looks at her husband who was about to fall over he was so sleepy.

"I don't want to leave you" Tobias admits with his eyes dropping.

"Tobias Amari Eaton, we are fine, you played a full 48 minutes and then hopped on a plane from Houston, your body is exhausted. You need to sleep"

"She's right sweetheart, we got this, go home and sleep. You can bring TJ back with you" Natalie assures him with a soft smile. "I'll sleep on the pull out sofa"

Tobias gives in and Evelyn decides to go with him.

"Have you two picked out names?" Natalie asks.

"Yes, you are going to hate them" Tris grins as she looks down at her newborn son.

"Let me guess, you are naming the twins after some famous basketball player" Natalie chuckles as she sits down in the chair next to Tris's bed with the other baby.

"I've been watching both of them and I think I decided who is who. This is Russell Andrew Prior-Eaton after Bill Russell" Natalie smiles at Andrew being the middle name.

"And who is this?"

"Jordan Nathaniel Prior-Eaton, after Michael Jordan and..."

"Oh Honey, you didn't have to" Natalie smiles with joy feeling a tear well up. She had been overwhelmed when Caleb and Marlene decided to name their second child Natalia as a twist on Natalie. Even though she and her youngest daughter were closer than ever, she didn't think she and Tobias would include her like this.

"Yeah, he has an amazing grandmother, it's perfect for him"

The next afternoon, Tobias is grateful that Tris sent him home, he had only gotten about 5 hours but it was better than how he felt after the babies had been born. TJ was practically bouncing off the wall holding Evelyn's hand as they headed to Tris's room.

Tris smiles TJ bounds over to her breaking away from Evelyn.

"Whoa, remember what we talked about TJ. You have to slow down and be gentle"

"Sorry Grammy, I'll be careful," TJ says softly to Natalie.

"It's okay big boy" Tris assures him as Natalie lifts him up so he can sit next to Tris in the bed. "I missed you last night"

"I missed you too Mamma" TJ giggles as Tris kisses his forehead.

"Can I hold my babies?" He asks looking hopeful.

"One at a time okay? And be very careful" Tris instructs.

"Meet your big brother" Tobias whispers as he kisses his head before setting him in TJ's arms. He and Tris had Facetimed that morning and she told him she had decided which baby she thought should have the names they picked out.

"TJ this is your baby brother Jordan"

"Hi Jordan" TJ whispers with his eyes full of wonder.

"And this is Russell," Tobias tells him as Tris takes Jordan into her arms and Tobias hovers close.

Evelyn and Natalie snap a picture of the family to send out.

"Who would have known when we moved in next door to you this is where we would end up all these years later" Natalie whispers to Evelyn with a smile.

Yes, Skylar Diggins Smith really did play the entire 2019 WNBA season with the Dallas Wings pregnant. She reported she felt alone and didn't tell a soul. I hope I have highlighted the struggles that female athletes go through with wanting to become others accurately.
