"... you tell Matt or I will..."
Gabby didn't know how many times Severide's threat played over and over in her mind since he left her by herself. Feeling suffocated, Gabby huffed as she considered leaving the event, she might do that, however, Matt wouldn't understand her changed demeanor. This wasn't the place or right time to confide in Matt about her previous life, his friend had no right to demand anything of her neither.
Why do people feel like screwing people over? she asked herself. Each time her life was moving forward, someone would show up to screw her over, only to crush her feelings, make her feel lesser than everyone else, then would tell her she didn't deserve one minute of happiness. It was tiresome to live like that... To relive her past and everything she went through as a teenager and her life in the system... It would hurt her... until it someday would kill her, she thought...
"Shay...," she whispered touching her lips with her fingers. Perhaps, it was time to leave everything behind and start over somewhere else... Shay had invited her to come over to Seattle and stay with her for a few weeks. That seemed to be a good way out of this mess... Her past couldn't hunt her down there... Wishing it could be easy, just leave and don't look back, Gabby let out a deep breath...
Gabby glanced over to where Brett and Casey were still talking... Sighing heavily, she noticed Severide and Stella had joined them. "A double date, perfect!" she groaned.
When Matt caught her eyes on them, she turned away her head abruptly...
Gabby closed her eyes and tried to ignore what it could mean, the four together, chatting animatedly... She felt ridiculous, like a fish out of water... Brett was the woman for Matt, not her...
Looking down she checked her outfit, lifting her head she retrieved her phone from her pocket to check her makeup with the camera... The first time she liked the color of her lipstick, now she hated it, without thinking twice Gabby removed her earrings, then the red lipstick with a napkin she kept in her pocket. Feeling satisfied with the removal, she kicked off her heels, then reached down to take them in her hands, looking straight ahead, she walked away in the opposite direction from Casey and his friends...
Casey watching her from afar, had his face twisted in confusion, Where is she going?
"Excuse me, but I have to go...," not bothering to look at any of them. Although, the three saw what had him distracted: Gabby moving away from where the main event was happening... Gabby was leaving for real? this played in their minds for a moment...
Severide kept a straight face until Matt moved away, rolling his eyes to the scene before him. He couldn't bear how his friend was so in love with Gabby, that he would abandon his friends to be with her...
Stella ignored her boyfriend's behavior, "If he is happy, I'm happy," shrugged her shoulders, "No offense, Brett," glancing at her momentarily.
Brett nodded briefly, refusing to admit that she was jealous of Gabby or that she never had a chance with him.
Severide folded his arms, "Any chance of you two getting back together?"
Brett stared at him, shaking her head negatively. "All this time I was MIA, his feelings didn't change, he is not as fond of me as I am of him... I,I thought I was pregnant, but it was a false positive-"
Stella's widened, "You are serious?"
Brett, "Yep... We always played it safe, although I would love for it to be real... however, I don't imagine he would leave her to be with me-," Severide cut her off.
"Of course, he would do that... Are you sure you are not pregnant?"
"I am, I had a blood test done, it's negative...," she looked down, upset and feeling miserable.
Stella touched her arm, "Hey, you are gonna find someone, don't give up... One day you are gonna have the family you envision... Okay?"
Brett gave her a half-smile, and Stella pulled her to a side hug. "Come on, let's drink a few beers..."
The girls marched towards Herrmann's family table while Severide stood behind... "Your time is coming..., Gabriela," he murmured.
...
Gabby peeked back when felt someone was stalking her... Casey was the stalker...
"Where are you going, babe?" Casey asked while following behind her.
"Actually, I don't know...," she huffed. "I just want to get out of here, you can stay, I'll see you at home..."
Matt skipped a bit to reach her shoulder making her stop, "Hey, what's going on?"
Gabby didn't want to cause a scene or disrupt his relationship with any of his friends... That's why she tried to keep herself together when turned around to stare at him.
"Nothing, nothing happened, it's just... I'm tired and I wanna go home..."
Matt studied her face as she shuffled her hair a couple of times, which meant that she wasn't comfortable or alright, and he knew it.
"... you don't need to go with me, you should stay, please stay...," she put a smile on her face for him at least, her eyes down.
Matt stepped forward and cradled her face with both hands. "Look at me... wherever you are going, I am going with you. It's our deal, don't you remember?"
He laughed lightly.
Gabby shook her head when she felt tears coming... Staring at him... "You should stay...," she said softly.
Matt got closer, there wasn't any space between them now... "I love you, Gabriela Dawson, and I'd like to be with you if that's okay with you...," his fingers caressed her face.
Gabby bit her lower lip, no answer was required when she kissed him on the lips gently... "I love you too, Matthew Casey..."
Matt met her lips again for a long and wet kiss... his favorite... wet and long kisses with his girl...
A few minutes later... "Let's take it home?" he gave her a mischievous smile.
"Yeah...," was Gabby's response.
Several days later... Firehouse 51
"Hey, Gabby, I left two messages already, and I haven't gotten any response from you. Is everything okay? I was going to ask Matt about you, but I'm afraid he will be worried, and I don't know what to do. In a couple of minutes, Cruz will be here with the cake... I arranged with Severide to distract Matt in his office as we get things ready for his little birthday surprise. I really hope you are on your way here. Please, call me... Bye..."
Stella sat down on the bench in the locker room... she waited for a couple of minutes, giving time for Gabby to respond, but got nothing... She was sure Gabby and Matt were okay. He didn't look any different from yesterday at Molly's, the couple had a great time, and were both happy around each other...
"Stella...", Otis called her name.
"Cruz is here..., come on..."
"I'm coming...," she checked her phone one more time. Nothing.
...
Everyone was gathered in the kitchen ready to get the surprise started when Gabby came in...
"Oh boy...," Stella walked to her and hugged her. "I'm so happy to see you here...," she sighed relieved.
"I'm sorry for not responding to you, I-" Stella cut her off.
"You don't need to explain yourself, Matt is gonna love seeing you here... So, are you ready?"
Gabby smiled, "Yeah, where is the birthday man?"
"Cruz went to Severide's office to bring them both in here, we just have to wait..."
While waiting Gabby greeted Matt's co-workers... They all were very sweet to her.
As soon as Matt entered the kitchen his eyes fell upon his girlfriend, a huge smile covered his face...
They sang happy birthday and celebrated the life of their great friend... After hugging all of his friends, he went to his girl...
"I'm so happy to have you here...," Matt wrapped his arms around her...
"Babe, we just saw each other a couple of hours ago...," she chuckled softly.
"Yeah, however, you were sleeping when I left this morning-," but Gabby interrupted him
"I asked you to wake me up before you leave, but you never listen to me," she bat her eyes at him.
"I always feel bad for waking you up so early. I'm sorry...," he pouted.
"I'll let it go this time..."
"Perfect...," he leaned down and kissed her on the lips.
A few minutes later...
Gabby was coming from the bathroom and saw Severide waiting for her in the locker room...
"Now it seems to be a good time to tell Matt the truth..."
"Why are you saying that?" Gabby asked him seriously.
Severide looked back to check if someone was coming in, but nobody was... He looked back at her.
"He intends to propose to you. Did you know that?" Severide stood with his arms crossed over his chest.
Gabby tried to speak a couple of times, but she was so astonished by the news that she didn't know what to say.
"You don't have a choice, Dawson... I won't let my friend be deceived by you-"
"Can you just stop, please?" Gabby hissed. "I am gonna tell him, but I can't do it right now-"
"You are a prostitute-"
"I am not. Who do you think you are?"
"I know that you got arrested once because one of your clients told the police you stole his watch. Please, tell me it is not true."
"He lied to the police, I never stole his watch or whatever, he-he lied to not pay for-for...," Gabby paused and closed her eyes for one second.
"For your services, right? because you are a prostitute."
"I'm getting out of here," Gabby announced, though Severide wouldn't let her pass by him.
"Let me go... Let me go, Severide..." she tried to break out of his arms.
They didn't realize their voices got louder and louder with each second they stayed in the locker room...
"Guys, guys, what's going on here?" Cruz asked worriedly. Right behind him were Stella, Cruz, Herrmann...
Finally, Gabby managed to break free from Severide's arms around her...
Chief Boden and Casey were the last ones to notice the commotion... and joined the group in the locker room...
Although Severide and Gabby didn't say anything... it was evident that something had happened.
"Gabby...," Casey moved in Gabby's direction. "What happened? Why are you crying?"
"Severide?" Stella uttered confused with the scene.
"Matt-"
"She has been lying to you...," Severide started.
Matt stared at him, "What are you saying?" he voiced defensively.
"Matt look at me." Gabby turned his face to her. "We need to talk, okay, I'll explain to you what happened here, but not now. Okay? Trust me, I'll tell everything, babe...," tears rolled down her face.
"She is a prostitute, or she used to be and that's the truth, Matt," Severide spoke. "The only truth."
Matt couldn't believe his ears. "Severide, shut your mouth. Who do you think you are?"
Then he glanced back at Gabby, "I-I'm sorry, Matt, I'm sorry, Matt-," she said a couple of times.
It took him a couple of seconds to realize that Severide was telling the truth, "I can't believe it," tears formed in his eyes.
"She is-" Stella cut in.
"Shut up, Severide," his girlfriend yelled at him. "Everybody leave, now. Come on, get out..."
"Matt, babe, listen to me...," Gabby tried to reach his hand, but he didn't let her. "Please, Matt-"
He wasn't looking her in the eyes. "I-I can't even look at you right now... I, can you leave please."
"Lieutenant, you two need to talk-" Matt cut Stella off.
He turned around to leave, "Go home, Dawson."
"He won't forgive me, he-he...," Gabby cried in Stella arms... "What am I gonna do?"
Please, leave a review. thank you.
