Sir Pentious is a mastermind inventor. His resilience and ingenuity have allowed him to bounce back from pitfalls time and time again. It will not be long before his genius takes him that next step forward – to the conquest of Pentagram City and Hell itself!
It has been many, many years since he last saw his son in the living world. He ponders what became of his offspring. Perhaps the abilities and resources granted to Overlords might aid him in answering that question. Perhaps victory will bring about a reunion, somehow.
Sir Pentious must be an adversary of note to the other Overlords and turf-mongers. Why else would his peers ignore or belittle him, if not out of jealousy, fear, or reticent admiration?
He just wants to be acknowledged; for his efforts to be validated at last.
Sir Pentious is evil, for evil is the only way to get ahead in Hell, to improve one's standing in the demonic hierarchy. Evil is convoluted schemes, overwrought monologues, imposing machines, smart dress, vicious rivalries, minions at one's beck and call…
He must be evil. He has to be evil.
He just wants to be… someone.
Loitering in front of the Hotel entrance, Sir Pentious brushes debris off his jacket and works up the fortitude to enter the establishment. Shivering Egg Bois huddle around his tail.
He will tell the Princess that he only seeks a temporary refuge, and any fleeting interest he might exhibit in self-betterment is for the purpose of improving his social standing, NOT for redeeming himself. He does not have to "redeem himself" in anyone's eyes.
That's a lie. He suspects the princess will see through it. And he might not be quite convinced, either, by his own rehearsed speech…
Sir Pentious slithers forward and pushes open the door.
A/N:
The more I think about Sir Pentious having a redemption arc and joining the Hotel of his own violation at some point, the more I'm on board with it.
I know Viv has indicated that he will have a prominent role to play and will have moments of genuinely effective villainy… but the fact that he's easily defeated twice in the pilot, plus that his motivation seems to be for recognition more than any malicious intent (Alastor and Valentino are definitely malicious characters), makes me feel a bit more sympathetic for him, like all the loud bravado is to hide inner hurt or insecurities.
