Chapter 4:

Trust yourself

00000000

Things at Luna Nova have returned to normal after the Pappilodya event. But there were two things that have changed.

The first was Akko now had Kero and Yue attending some of her classes with her. Though it was mostly Yue now as Kero kept falling asleep during a lot of the classes. And when he did, he snored, loudly. The teachers didn't like that, so they banned him from classes. The only class he wasn't banned from was history class and broom flying.

The other thing that changed was Diana. No one said anything but they saw she was changing somehow. She was still punctual and such, but it was like she wasn't even there. She was still answering question, but not as much. It was getting to the point the staff was about to intervene, but they weren't sure what to say or do.

Even Akko saw this, and she had a good guess what was causing this. But she knew if she tried to talk to her Diana would either bite her head off or brush her off.

Currently Diana was in her room rereading a message her aunt sent her. Apparently, she knew the cards were released and decided they weren't the effort.

Diana couldn't remember how many times she reread this message as she couldn't believe it. How could the Clow cards not be important!? They were apart of her family's history and her aunt didn't care. Thought to be honest her aunt didn't care about any of their family's legacies, but still she hoped she would care about this one.

Diana sighed as she put the note down next to her cold tea. Diana honestly felt lost right now. And she had no idea how to fix it.

Nearby Hannah and Barbara watched on as they couldn't stand to see Diana this way. The two talked and they both came to the same conclusion. The only way to make Diana feel better was to get the Clow cards before Akko transformed them all. And with that the two made a plan.

Currently Akko was in the library trying to study but was having a hard time concentrating. Near her was the book of the Clow as it sat out in the open. Akko rubbed her eyes as she felt something hit her in the back of the head.

"Hey, what's the big idea?" Asked Akko as she turned around and saw Hannah with some books in her arms.

"Sorry." Apologised Hannah making Akko wonder what was going on as she continued. "But this might be the only was you can learn anything."

Hearing that Akko got up and glared at her. "So that gives you the right to hit me with books?" She asked her with frustration.

Hannah didn't say anything as some of the nearby students were looking at them. Then out of now where she put her books down and left the library. Seeing this confused Akko as she wondered what that was about.

She then sat back down and then cried out. "IT'S GONE!" Hearing that made all the students jump in shock and fear.

"Miss. Kagari what is this about?" Asked annoyed Finnelan as she walked over as Akko was throwing books all over the place.

"The book gone." Said a panicked Akko.

"What book?" Asked Finnelan as her patience was wearing thin.

"The book of the Cloud." Akko told her as she looked at Finnelan as Finnelan gasped.

"What do you mean?" Finnelan asked her as she was scared a bit.

"I had the book on the table right next to me. I then got into an argument with Hannah and when I turned around it was gone." Explained Akko as she was panicking.

Finnelan put her hands-on Akko's shoulder to calm her down. "Calm down, can't you sense the cards?" She asked her as they needed to find the book or who knows what could happen.

Akko stopped and breathed, and she then concentrated. "It's still in the school." Akko told her with her eyes closed as they then snapped wide open. "And the cards know they're being stolen!"

Hearing that confused Finnelan. "What do you mean by that?" She asked Akko with a hint of worry in her voice.

Akko then looked Finnelan right in the eyes with a serious face. "What would you do if your being kidnapped?" She asked her.

Hearing that Finnelan automatic was 'fight back'. Her eyes then widened in shock and fear.

"I need Kero and Yue." Said Akko as she quickly gathered her stuff and rushed off to her guardians.

Seeing this Finnelan was about to reprimand her but stopped. She was actually impressed by how Akko was taking reasonability for the cards. But for now she needed to warn the staff about this and hopes nothing bad will happen.

Elsewhere Diana sat at her desk trying to occupy herself with schoolwork, when Hannah and Barbara rushed into their room with wide smiles on their faces.

"Diana, we got something for you." Said Hannah as neither one stopped smiling.

Hearing that Diana was curious as to what it was. "What is it?" She asked them as she got up and faced them.

The two girls smiled to each other as Barbara brought out the book of the Clow from behind her back. Diana gasped at the sight of the book as she took the book from them. Then to their shock Diana glared at them.

"What were you two thinking!" Yelled Diana as Hannah and Barbara took a step back in shock.

"We just wanted to give you what you dissevered." Said Barbara in a weak tone.

"So, you went and stole the book!" Diana yelled again.

Both Hannah and Barbara didn't know what to say or do. In all the time they knew Diana they have never seen her act this way before.

"What were you two even thinking?" Continued Diana as her tone never changed. "Did you think just because I have the book the cards would obey me? And did you ever stop and think that Akko would take this laying down. When she finds the book missing, she'll do whatever she can to get it back. And what do you think will happen when they find out the book is here?"

"We just wanted to make you happy." Said Hannah as she didn't know what else to say. But it was the wrong thing to say as Diana looked furious.

"GET OUT!" Yelled Diana so loud nearby birds flew away.

Not needed to be told twice both girls rushed out of the room leaving Diana alone. Seeing this Diana sat down at her desk as she put the book onto her desk and then sighed into her hands.

This was the last thing she wanted to deal with today. Now she had to return the book while trying to stay out of trouble and making sure Hannah and Barbara weren't punished badly for this.

She then looked at the book as she couldn't resist the urge to hold a Clow card in her hand. She then picked up the book and opened it. The card on top was the TIME card. As she went to hold it, she gasped when TIME's eyes opened, as if it was looking at her.

The next thing Diana knew everything felt weird as she could barely see anything as she then passed out.

When she came to Diana noticed something weird about her room. For whatever reason it looked like no one was living in it. As she got up, she looked around and wondered what happened.

"I'm glad to see your up." Said a voice from behind Diana. Curious Diana turned around and gasped.

For standing there was herself. An older version of herself. She wore a white blouse and blue jeans. Her hair was slightly longer. And in her hands, she held a tray with a tea pot and cups and cookies on it.

Important: From here on out I will refer to the future Diana as F-Diana to avoid confusion.

"Who are you?" Diana asked her stupidly as this was a lot to take in.

"I'm you." Answered F-Diana as she walked over to a nearby table Diana failed to see and put the tray down.

"But how?" Asked Diana as she couldn't understand it.

"TIME." Said F-Diana as she sat down. "When Hannah and Barbara took the book, the cards knew what was happening. When you opened the book, TIME thought you were the thief and sent you 15 years into the future."

Diana could barely process what she just heard as she sat down at the table with her future self.

"Then will I go back to my time?" Diana asked herself.

"Soon." F-Diana told her as she poured them tea. "But in the meantime, we should talk."

"About what?" Asked Diana as she joined herself at the table.

"About you." Said F-Diana as she poured her past self a cup of tea. "Would you care for some? It's our favorite."

"Yes, thank you." Said Diana as she accepted the cup from her future self. "And what do you mean?"

"Diana I'm you, I know everything you are feeling right now. There is no way for you to lie to me." Said F-Diana as she took a sip of her tea.

Diana then looked at her tea and knew she was right. Afterall how can you lie to your future self when they went through all this.

"I… I feel like my world is going upside down." Admitted Diana.

"I know." Agreed F-Diana as she set her cup down. "We've always thought that if we got the Clow cards we could use them to help rebuild our family's name. But when we found out Akko had them it was the start of our unrest."

Hearing that Diana agreed with everything her future self said. "Then what should I do?" Asked Diana as she had no idea.

F-Diana looked at her before speaking. "That's something you have to figure out yourself."

"Wait! What?" Asked as confused Diana as that wasn't what she was expecting.

"I could tell you exactly what is going to happen to you, but it wouldn't help you grow at all." Said F-Diana as she took another sip of her tea as she added. "And it would then change the future."

"I see." Said Diana as she took a sip of her tea as her future self spoke up.

"There is one thing a can tell you though." Said F-Diana gaining her younger self attention. "There is an old law for our family. Its so old that it's been forgotten, but it still holds power."

Hearing this Diana curious what this law was. "What is it?" She asked her.

"Whoever holds the Clow cards can deicide the new leader of our family, but only once in their lifetime." F-Diana told her as Diana was speechless.

'To think there is such a law.' Diana thought to herself, as she need to know something.

"How did you learn of this?" Diana asked F-Diana curious to the answer.

F-Diana sat there as she choose her words carefully. "It was Akko. You see she needed to talk to Cloud Reed about something and used the RETURN card to do it. While she was in the past she found out about the law. When she came back she made us the head of our family."

Hearing that Diana was speechless as she never thought that would be the way she would become the head of her family.

"But." Said F-Diana gaining Diana's attention. "You should wait on this information."

Diana looked at herself in shock. "But why?" She asked her.

"I can't go into details right now, but you should give Akko a chance." F-Diana as this confused Diana.

Seeing this F-Diana explained. "You see right now I bet you aren't giving her a chance because she has what you believe is yours and after seeing her transform two cards in front of you, you feel like your losing your family's history."

Diana thought about it and mentally agreed with herself. She had always wanted to gain the cards to help her family, but now it was unattainable. And now that she thought about it, Akko has never used the cards truly for herself. She always used them to help others or defend herself.

"I see you realized." Said F-Diana as Diana was brought out of her thoughts. "Akko is not one to use the cards to cheat, hurt, or anything like that. Though she might use them to bend the rules here and there."

"What should I do then?" Asked Diana unsure how to move forward with Akko.

F-Diana reached over and placed a hand on Diana's shoulder. "The best thing you can do is do not think of her as lesser or anything like that. But as a person just like you." F-Diana told her.

Diana was about to say something when she felt weird. Just like when TIME threw her to the future.

"Catch her." She heard F-Diana saw to her as Diana blacked out.

When she came to, Diana saw she was back in her own room in her own time. But in her room she saw Holbrooke, Finnelan, Rebecca, Akko and her Guardians (in their disguise forms).

"What happened?" asked Diana as she got her bearings again.

"What happened was you got sent through time by TIME and Akko had to transform the card to get you back." Explained Kero as he flew right into Diana's face.

"Kero." Said Akko weakly as she used her staff to hold herself up. Diana saw this and to her horror she saw Akko's staff starting to move.

Acting fast Diana got up and rushed over to Akko and caught her as Akko passed out. Diana then realized she was holding Akko close to her as her arms completely wrapped around her. And for some reason she liked this feeling.

"Is she ok?" Asked Finnelan surprisingly.

"Yes." Said Yue as he checked Akko over. "Just exhausted. TIME is a powerful card. It's near the power of the elemental cards, so it required a lot of power to transform."

"I see." Was all Finnelan said, surprising Kero and Yue they honestly expected more from her.

Rebecca then went to check Diana over as she knew what was wrong with Akko.

"Diana, could you place Akko down please?" Asked Rebecca as it was a little difficult to do her job will Diana held Akko like that.

Diana then realized Akko was still in her arms. "Oh, of course." Said Diana as she saw her bed and placed Akko down.

Rebecca then started to ask Diana some questions on how she was feeling and such. After she was done, she turned to Holbrooke who was surprising quite during this.

"From what I can tell Diana is fine after her trips through time, but since there is no guideline for this, I can't be for certain." Rebecca told Holbrooke and Finnelan.

"I see. Thank you." Said Holbrooke as she turned to Diana and sighed.

"I'd never thought I would say these words to you Diana, but I'm disappointed in you." Said Holbrooke as Diana looked away.

"But we do know what happened." Added Holbrooke confusing Diana.

"What do you mean?" Asked Diana confused.

"When Miss. Kagari was hunting down the book, your teammates ran into her and confessed everything to her and then us." Holbrooke told her as Diana was quiet.

"Even thought you weren't apart of it, you still used a Clow card and for that I'm afraid you must be punished." Said Holbrooke as Diana nodded.

"I understand." Said Diana as she knew better then to fight her.

Hearing this Holbrooke nodded and soon everyone left Diana's room as Rebecca took Akko to the infirmary. Diana sat on her bed as she thought about everything that happened to her today.

But that's when she realized something, there were holes in her memories. She couldn't remember everything, but she still remembered what her future self said about Akko.

As she thought about it, she decided to follow her future self advice and be more open minded with Akko.

'Thank you, me.' Thought Diana as felt better.

Meanwhile back in the future Diana smiled as she cleaned up the tea.

"Are you finished?" Asked a voice from outside the room.

"Yes, she just went back." Said Diana as the door opened revealing Akko.

This version of Akko kept her hair short, but she lost the ponytail she used to have. She wore a red t-shirt and blue jeans. But what stood out the most was she was holding a baby carrier.

"Good." Said Akko as she carefully put the carrier on the table revealing a one-year old baby girl with blond hair wearing a star printed onesie. "Cause someone wants their mommy."

Diana smiled as she looked at her daughter as she was reaching up for her. "Come here you." Said Diana as she took her out of the carrier and held her close.

"So how it go?" Asked Akko as she snacked on some of the cookies.

"I got through to her." Said Diana as her smiled down at her child.

"I'm glad." Said Akko as she walked over to Diana.

"So am I. Afterall I wouldn't change this for anything, dear." Said Diana as she kissed Akko on the lips as she loved her family.

I going to say this now, yes this will become a Diakko fic, but properly not till the end. I still working on it. If you don't like that, then sorry but that's the way I'm going.

Now then as for this chapter I wanted to address Diana's mental state as compared to cannon this Akko is making waves and Diana is unsure how to deal with them. So I figured what better way then to talk to yourself and figure them out.

I'm sorry the chapter is short, but I didn't want to give too much away. So until next time.
