Chapter 7:

Flying high

00000000

"Thanks for the Advice dad, and I'll talk to you soon." Said Akko as she ended her Skype call with her dad.

As Akko put her laptop away, she thought back when she told her parents the truth about the Clow cards and Akko cards. At first, they didn't believe her that's when she called over Kero and Yue and both were shocked to see them. Akko then went and explained everything from how she found the book and the cards to resealing them to her transforming them.

By the time she was done neither said anything making Akko worried. They then said they were proud of her while they were hurt, she lied to them, but they understood why. Hearing that made Akko feel so much better.

She spent the rest of that night telling them about some of her adventures, while keeping the dangerous parts out. All the while she felt like the gap between them had healed.

Currently Akko had just finished talking to her dad about tips on how to teach a class. For today was the day of her inner magic class.

The class was going to consist of her team, green team and Diana. Akko had invited Diana after she returned her staff as a way to thank her.

Akko saw the time as she had a half hour before her class start. And as she dad said, 'get there early and make sure everything is ready'. She then gathered what she needed as Kero and Yue were out, doing what she didn't know, and headed for her class.

If she stayed a little longer, she might have seen a mysteries person placing a package in front of her door.

Later Akko stood in front of the class as everyone was in their seats before her, expect headmaster Miranda Holbrooke who sat off to the side to watch the class. She was glad this class was only a half hour otherwise she would truly be panicking.

Akko took a deep breath as he remembered her dad told her to 'teach at her level'. Meaning don't try to be something you're not.

"Ok everyone." Said Akko as she was hopefully ready. "I'm going to make a few things clear right now. Frist this is a class where theories and such won't truly apply. Second this will be a more hands then anything. And lastly just because you don't get it today, doesn't mean you won't in the future."

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Amanda as she didn't bother to raise her hand.

Holbrooke was about to say something when Akko held her hand up to her to stop her. Seeing this Holbrooke didn't say anything and let Akko handle it.

"Inner magic is like a muscle. The best way to make it stronger is by using it. And like all muscles everyone is on different levels, so some of you will struggle more then others." Explained Akko as she then added. "And Amanda while I'm not a teacher can you still treat this like a real class?"

"Sure." Said Amanda as she thought over Akko's words like everyone else.

Akko then saw Diana rise her hand. "Yes Diana?" Akko asked her.

"How does one use their inner magic?" Diana asked her as Akko thought back to wat Kero taught her.

"Everyone close your eyes." Said Akko as a few of them looked unsure but did so anyway even Holbrooke.

"Now then I want you to picture your body. Now concentre on where you feel you magic is. It might be right in your chest or your stomach or even where your heart is. When you feel you know where your magic is raise your hand, but kept your eyes close. And most importantly take your time, we're in no rush." Akko told them.

Akko looked at them as she saw them focusing on their magic. While they were doing that Akko grabbed some wands that have no connection to the Sorcerer stone and place then in front of them. Akko saw Amanda raise her hand followed by Sucy soon everyone, but Diana had their hands up.

"I can't find it!" Said Diana out loud surprising everyone.

"It's ok Diana." Said Akko as she walked over held her hands in her hands. Akko's hands then glowed.

"Diana can you feel my magic?" Asked Akko as everyone watched.

Diana was silent for a moment before answering. "Yes." She said as she felt Akko's magic as it felt warm, soft, and safe.

Akko then took her hands away. "Now knowing what it could feel like can you find your magic?" She asked her.

Diana focused as she remembered the feeling. That's when she felt it near her heart as a small flame. At first, she wasn't sure, but she then realized that was her magic.

"I found it." Said Diana with a smile.

"Great." Said Akko with a smile as she returned to the front of the room.

"Ok, for the rest of the class, you're going to create a ball of light with your wand. Only using your inner magic to do it." Akko told them.

"Don't you think 20 minutes is a long time just for something simple?" Asked Sucy as she felt Akko was underestimating them.

"Then go right ahead and prove me wrong." Said Akko as Sucy tired to make a ball of light, but only got a flicker.

Seeing this Sucy looked at her wand. "There's something wrong with this wand." She told Akko with a frown.

"There nothing wrong with them." Akko told Sucy. "These wands just aren't connected to the Sorcerer's stone. Meaning you have to use your inner magic."

Hearing this the girls looked unsure, so Akko spoke up. "I'll give you all 10 minutes to try on your own, if you're still struggling, I'll give you some advice."

Hearing that the girls tried to make balls of light, but the most they got was flickers.

Seeing that the students were occupied Holbrooke walked over to Akko.

"You're doing a good job." Praised Holbrooke as she wouldn't lie as she thought that Akko would be struggling teaching a class.

"Thanks, I talked to my dad and he gave me some pointers." Admitted Akko as she rubbed the back of her head sleeplessly.

"I see." Said Holbrooke as she did wonder how she contacted him but put it aside. "I was wondering though do you think this could be a class?"

Akko thought about it, but before she could answer Amanda spoke up.

"I did it!" Cheered Amanda as she had a ball of light on her wand. Seeing this everyone was shocked by this.

"How'd did you get it so fast?" Asked Lotte in surprise.

"I'm not sure." Admitted Amanda. "I just let my magic flow."

"I think it's because of her broom flying." Said Yue as he flew into the room and explained. "You're one of the best in the school from what I've seen. I wouldn't be surprised while flying you've ran out of magic from the Sorcerer stone and without realizing it you've used your inner magic."

Hearing that made sense as it was in the realm of possibility. But Akko did wonder something.

"Where have you've been Yue?" She asked him curiously.

"Around." Was all he said as in truth he and Kero were scouting the school trying to find out who caused those water tornadoes. That and the grounds crew invited them to join their poker games and such.

"Ok." Said Akko as she wasn't going to push it. She then turned to her class.

"Ok everyone back to work." Said Akko as she turned to Amanda. "As for you I want to you to see how long you can keep that ball of light up for."

Hearing that everyone went back to work as Holbrooke was impressed.

"Miss Kagari back to my earlier question, do you think this can be a class?" Holbrooke asked Akko curious to her answer.

"I don't think it can be." Said Akko as she explained. "This is something everyone learns at differently. Look at was happening here. Diana is one of the best students and she's struggling, while Amanda already forming balls of light with her wand."

Hearing that Holbrooke looked over at Diana and saw her struggling to make a flicker appear on her wand. She then looked at Amanda as she had a ball of light on her wand as she timed herself.

"Then what do you suggest then?" Holbrooke asked Akko.

Akko thought about it before answering. "This should be an independent course." Akko told her.

"I agree." Said Yue as this was the best course.

"I see." Was all Holbrooke said as she thought about it.

The three stood in silence for a bit until the ten minutes Akko gave were up.

"Ok." Said Akko. "I said I would give you all some advice and here it is. I had you all find where your inner magic is. Now I want you to focus on it and flow your magic from there to your wand."

"But how do we do that?" Asked Lotte confused.

"That's something you need to find on your own." Akko told her as in truth it was different for everyone.

Hearing that no one said anything as they went back to work. And soon the last ten minutes were up.

"Ok everyone you did a good job for today." Said Akko to everyone as some didn't feel like they did a good job.

"Now I know some of you thought you would do better, but keep in mind this is new for everyone, so there will be some bumps along the way. Until our next class I want you all to focus on making balls of light for now. If you need any help come find me." Said Akko as the class ended and everyone went their own ways.

Some time later Akko walked with her team and Yue back to their room as they talked.

"So, how'd I do as a teacher?" Asked Akko curiously.

"You did an ok job." Said Lotte as she added. "But I feel you giving us to much room."

"Too much room?" Asked Akko not understanding what she meant by it.

"You're making us do all the work." Said Sucy bluntly.

Hearing that Akko understood what Lotte meant. "This is your magic not mine. I can only guide you on how to use it. It's up to you to figure out how it works." Said Akko as both Sucy and Lotte looked at each other confused.

"What she means is, what works for her won't necessarily work for you." Clarified Yue as he agreed with Akko.

It was then they reached their dorm room and saw the package form earlier. Curious Akko bent down and pick it up and saw a card. Looking at it, Akko saw it was addressed to her. She then opened the card and read it.

"Thank you for the class today. Please enjoy this present." Was all it said.

Akko then opened the package as saw a brown hand made teddy bear.

"Who's it from?" Asked Lotte as she looked at the bear.

"It doesn't say." Said Akko as she looked at the card again.

"Wonder where they got this?" Asked Sucy as she looked at the bear.

"It looks handmade." Said Akko as she looked at the bear.

"How do you now that?" Asked Lotte as sewing didn't seem to be one of Akko's strong suits.

"Oh, my best friend Tomoyo is a great seamstress. She made all my battle costumes." Said Akko as both Lotte and Sucy looked at her funny.

"Battle costumes?" They both said at the same time confused.

Hearing that Akko chuckled. "Well you see when I was resealing the cards, Tomoyo would make me a costume and film me while I was capturing them." Explained Akko as she remembered some of the costumes she wore.

"Akko." Said Yue in a strong tone. "This bear could be a trap."

"I know." Said Akko with a serious expression. "But it could also be from Amanda's team as well. And I don't sense anything."

"Then we better find them and make sure." Said Yue as they had to be careful.

"What about Diana?" Asked Lotte. "She could have made the bear."

"I don't think she could have." Said Akko as she looked at the bear again. "This is a present for teaching a class and I only invited Diana a couple days ago to join it. She wouldn't have time to make it."

Hearing that made sense and with that everyone went the courtyard in hopes of finding the green team. Luckily for them they found them as they were between the field and the school.

"Amanda!" Cried out Akko as she ran over to them. Hearing Akko the green team turned around and faced her.

"Hey Akko." Greeted Amanda as she saw the bear. "Nice teddy bear."

"I don't suppose one of you made this bear?" Asked Akko hoping one of them would say yes.

"Not me." Said Amanda. "Making bears is not my thing."

"I didn't." Said Jasminka as eat some chips.

Akko then looked at Constanze who only shock her head no.

"Oh no." Said Akko as he eyes widened as she suddenly felt magic come from the bear as her team caught up with her.

To everyone's surprise the bear then floated out of Akko's hands and hovered in the air. Then to their shock the bear started to grow until it was as tall as the school. Seeing this many girls screamed and ran for it.

"Akko, I think you need to get your staff out, now!" Said Amanda as she slowly backed away.

Not needing to be told twice Akko got her key out, but before she could start to chant the bear look down at them.

"Hello." Said Akko weakly as everyone ran as the bear walked in their direction.

"Yue do something!" Yelled Sucy.

While Sucy wasn't her master Yue knew he had to do something and as such his wings grew and he took on his real form. He then flew towards the bear as he distracted it.

Seeing this Akko stopped and started to chant. "Oh, key that hides the power of the stars, reveal your true power before me. I, Akko command you under our contract. Release!" Said Akko as her staff appeared before her as she took it and gave it a quick spin.

Akko then looked at the bear with a determined look as she realized something.

"How do I stop this thing?" She asked the others as they gave her shocked looks.

"Just use the FIREY card and burn that thing!" Yelled Amanda as she pointed at the bear.

At the same time Yue went in to attack as a crystal formed in his hand, but just as he was about to attack it, he paused. Then to Akko's horror Yue's wings vanished as he fell.

"WINDY! Stop Yue's fall!" Said Akko as she used WINDY to stops Yue's fall and bring him over to them.

"Yue are you ok?" Asked Akko in worry as Yue just grunted in pain. Seeing this made Akko worry along with the other girls.

Then Jasminka screamed as the bear was over them as it brought his arm down on them.

"SHIELD!" Cried out Akko as a protective dome appeared between them and the bear. The bear's paw hit the dome but did nothing. Seeing this the girls relaxed as they were safe for now.

At the same time nearly every student in the area was gone, but Diana soon appeared as she saw the bear pounding on the dome protecting the girls. She was about to step in to help them when she stopped.

'What can I do to help?' Diana asked herself as she had no idea what to do.

For now, Diana stood to the side hidden from sight as she waited for the right moment to help.

Back with the girls everyone was worried expect Akko as she was more worried about Yue right now.

"Yue, please say something." Begged Akko as she was really worried now.

"The bear." Said Yue weakly. "Something in the bear must be giving it life. If you get rid of it the bear will go back to normal."

Hearing that Akko nodded as she looked up at the bear and closed her eyes and concentrated on it. As she did the others looked at her with worry, hoping she would find a way out for them. Akko's eye opened as the looked at the bears right ear.

"It's in the right ear." Said Akko as she pulled out a Clow card.

Akko turned the card around revealing it to be the SHOT card. She then tossed it forward as it spun around in place. "Card created by Clow, abandon your old form and reincarnate, under the name of Akko, your new master!" Said Akko as she pointed her staff at the SHOT card as it transformed.

"SHOT take out the bears right ear!" Commanded Akko as an energy blast shot out from the card and flew through a hole in the dome towards the bear.

But as the blast hit the bear just as barrier appeared blocking the SHOT card.

"Oh, come on!" Yelled Amanda as that wasn't fair.

Seeing this Akko called back SHOT as she knew what to do as she pulled out two more cards. Then out of nowhere several blasts hit the bear but did nothing cause of the shield around it. The girls turned around and saw the school staff firing magical blasts at the bear.

"Everyone over here!" They heard Diana call out as they turned and saw her waving them over. Not needing to be told twice everyone but Akko, Amanda and Yue rushed over while the Bear was distracted.

Akko tried to move Yue on her own as she had his right arm over her shoulders, but he was too heavy for her. Then she felt the weight get lighter as Amanda had his other arm over her shoulders. Not saying anything the two girls rushed over to the others as SHIELD deactivated.

Up above watching the whole thing on the roof of the school were two individuals.

The first was a black panther with pointy ears and what looked like butterfly wings on it's back. On its chest it had butterfly amour and in the middle was a blue gem. And last on its forehead was another blue gem.

The other one was a girl with long pink hair that went down her back and had her hair tied in buns on top of her head. She wore black gloves that went up to her upper arms and a small pink shawl around her neck with a small black butterfly on the front. And finally, she wore a black dress that turn white on the side half way down. And just like the panther she also had butterfly wings on her back.

"I must admit, she reacted quickly to save Yue." Said the girl as she watched Akko and Amanda carry Yue to safety.

"Yes, but what are those teachers doing?" Asked the panther as he watched the teacher trying and failing to stop the bear.

"They're probably trying to save the students." Guessed the girl as the bear looked to where the Sorcerer stone was.

"Looks like its defence mode has been triggered." Said the panther as the bear held out it's hands towards the stone.

Then to everyone's shock, but the two on the roof, the Sorcerer stone started to move as it floated over to the bear.

"How is that possible?" Asked Diana as the stone was now in front of the bear. The bear then hugged the stone as it somehow was being absorbed into it.

Everyone watched helplessly as the stone was fully consumed by the bear. The bear then looked over at Akko's group as it started to walk towards them.

"Everyone please keep Yue safe." Requested Akko as she still had the two cards in her hand.

"Akko what are you going to do?" Asked Lotte as Akko's last attempt failed.

"I'm going to cut that ear off." Akko told her. Hearing that no one knew what she meant until they remembered that one card.

Akko tossed the two cards before her as they spin in place. "Cards created by Clow, abandon your old form and reincarnate, under the name of Akko, your new master!" Said Akko as she brought her staff to the cards as they transformed. "JUMP, SWORD!"

As the cards transformed and activated little wings appeared on Akko's boots and her staff transformed into what looked like a European rapier with a winged hilt and guard on its handle. It had wing like handles with a gem in the middle and another gem as the pommel.

Akko then jumped high into the air as landed on the school's roof as she ran towards the bear. The bear saw her and swung at her, but Akko jumped out of the way. Akko then went for the bear only for it to use its other arm and wack her away.

The girls watched in fear as Akko hit the roof of the school, as her sword turned back into a staff, and then started to roll towards the edge. Yue saw this and tried to get up but couldn't find the strength to move.

As Akko neared the edge Diana rushed forward as she brought out her wand. As Akko fell Diana without thinking casted a spell slowing Akko's descent. When Akko was near eye level with Diana, she opened her eyes as the two looked at each other.

"Diana." Said Akko thankful as the two started into each others' eyes. Neither said anything as the world around seemed to vanish.

"Akko!" Cried the others as the rushed over with Amanda and Jasminka helping Yue over. Hearing that broke the two out of their trace, as Diana brought Akko to the ground.

"Are you ok?" Asked Lotte in concern.

"Yes." Said Akko as she looked at the bear.

"Akko you should use the FLY card." Suggested Sucy as strangely the bear wasn't moving towards them.

"I can't." Said Akko confusing the others.

"Why not?!" Asked Amanda as she was done with today.

"Because SWORD turned my staff into a sword, while FLY gives my staff wings to fly with." Explained Akko. "I can't use the two together."

Akko was about to use JUMP and SWORD again when Diana stopped her.

"Akko." Started Diana. "Ever since you came here you've changed how we all view magic. If anyone can change the rules on how the Clow and Akko cards work, it's you."

Hearing that Akko was speechless as she pulled out FLY's card and thought about what Diana said.

'Please let me fly without the staff.' Thought Akko as she pictured herself flying without the staff.

"Card created by Clow, abandon your old form and reincarnate, under the name of Akko, your new master!" Said Akko but unlike the other times she held the card in her hand as it transformed.

"FLY!" Said Akko as she activated the card and to the shock of everyone wings came out of her back.

Seeing this and feeling the wings on her back, Akko grinned. "SWORD!" Said Akko as she brought out her sword again.

Akko then flapped her wings as she flew towards the bear, much to the shock of the staff and nearby students.

The bear saw her coming and swung at her, but Akko was easily able to dodge each attack as she got close to the right ear. And with one swing of her sword Akko cut through not only the barrier, but the bears ear as well.

Without the bears magic source, it then started to shrink as the Sorcerer stone ripped through the bears fabric as it landed on the ground with a loud thud.

Seeing this everyone relaxed as Akko landed on the ground near the others as her wings disappeared and her staff went back to normal. Akko was about to join up with them as a small green orb floated down before her. Akko held out her hand curious as the orb vanished revealing a folded piece of paper. Even more curious Akko opened it and gasped. For on the paper was Cloud Reed's magic circle.

"What's on the paper Akko?" Asked Amanda as she was jealous that Akko could fly like that now.

Akko said nothing as she turned the paper around shocking the others as they saw Cloud Reed's magic circle.

"What does this mean?" Asked Diana as she didn't know what to make of this.

"I wish I knew." Said Akko as she was drained.

She was glad it was over transforming four cards took a lot out of her, and if she was being honest, she might have enough magic left for one more but that was it.

"Thank goodness your all ok." Said Holbrooke as she walked over to them. "But do any of you know who did this?"

"Not yet." Said Akko as she looked at the paper in her hand.

"Excuse me." Said a random student as she walked over. "But I think I saw who did this."

Hearing that everyone's eye went wide.

"Please tell us." Said Holbrooke as she wanted this to end.

"I could see them very well, but there was two of them. One looked like an older girl, while the other was a large cat and both of them had wings on their backs." Said the girl as Akko's eyes went wide hearing that as she remembered her dream.

"Were they butterfly wings?" Akko asked her.

The girl thought about it. "Yes, they were." She told Akko who gasped at that.

"You know them?" Asked Holbrooke.

"Kind of." Said Akko as she explained. "They were in my dream, the one I told you about."

Hearing that made Holbrooke frowned as Ursula was still looking into what it would mean if the moon and the sun vanished. She then looked at the Sorcerer stone and then at Akko.

"Miss Kagari, I hate to ask you this, but could you put the Sorcerer stone back please." Asked Holbrooke as no one had the magic power to do it without the stone in its proper place.

Akko looked at the stone and knew she need to transform one more card to move it. And as such she transformed the POWER card and pick up the stone with ease and used FLY to put it back.

As Akko flew up the sun was starting to set and the glow from the stone gave Akko an angelic glow to her. Seeing this Diana started to blush at the sight for some reason.

But as Akko put the stone back in place, she couldn't help but think about the paper with Cloud Reed's seal on it and what it could mean for her and those around her. She just hoped whatever it was she would be ready for it.

And now Akko has her own wings. To be honest I wasn't thinking of using so many cards in this chapter, but that how it worked out. As for those who are wondering what happened to Yue it's the same things as the anime. And I'll discuss it next chapter.

And what did you think of the class? I wanted it to be as real as possible, but the most teaching I've done is the new person at work.

And I hope everyone enjoyed the Diakko's scenes I put into this chapter.

Until next time.
