Chapter 8:

Catch that broom!

It was the day after what many were calling the 'bear incident'. Luckily, there was no major damage to the school and what damage there was, was easily fixed.

But the students were stating to get a little nervous. This was the second attack in a manner of months. Luckily for the staff it was the weekend, so they had no classes allowing the students time to relax.

Amanda was one of those students who took advantage of the weekend to relax as she sore through the air on her broom. Amanda enjoyed flying as it helped clear her head, as she was one of the few people who knew about what caused the bear to go wild.

'I still can't believe it.' Thought Amanda as the bear had Cloud Reed magic symbol in it.

Akko told them she would look into it. But a part of Amanda just couldn't let it go, but unlike Akko she didn't know where to start.

Amanda then flew down as she was getting hungry. Once on the ground she made her way inside.

"You have amazing skills Miss. O'Neill." Praise Eriol as he walked towards her.

Hearing that Amada chuckled. "Thanks." She said with pride in her voice.

"May I?" Aske Eriol as he pointed to her broom.

"Sure thing." Said Amanda as she handed her broom to Eriol who looked it over.

"To be honest I wish I could fly a broom." Eriol admitted with a chuckle.

"You can't?" Asked Amanda curious.

"Yes. I tried to learn long ago, but it just didn't work out. Everytime I would land flat on my face or rear." Said Eriol with a chuckle as he remembered those times.

"So, you gave up?" Asked Amanda as she was into this story.

"I tried for many years, but the best I could do was a few feet." Admitted Eriol as admits his fault.

Hearing that Amanda did feel sorry for him, he was actually one of her favorite teachers. "Sorry to hear that." She told him.

"It's alright." Eriol told her as while Amanda wasn't paying attention to her broom it had a faint glow to it.

"I hope you enjoy the rest of your day." Eriol told Amanda as he gave back her broom.

Amanda took back her broom and headed on her way. Eriol watched her as she left his view of sight.

"Though I think you'll be exhausted by the end of it." Eriol said to himself as he walked away with a slight grin on his face.

In the cafeteria Akko sat at a table in the back with her team and guardians. She looked half dead as transforming five cards yesterday took a lot out of her. But she didn't have time to relax just yet.

After finding that magic symbol in the bear Akko was confused. How did it end up there and who used it? With little options Akko asked Diana if she could look into her family and see if there were any outcasts of people who married out or anything of that nature. Her hope was that one of them could be responsible for theses attacks on her.

But Akko wasn't just checking the Cavendish family but the Li clan as well. That is why she was she was breaking school rules and was using her cellphone right now.

"Yeah if you can check to see if anyone in your family might know something that would be great Syaoran." Said Akko as she listened to the other side.

"I really appreciate this Syaoran." Said Akko grateful for his help.

"Thank you and I'll let you know if I learn anything else." Said Akko as she ended the call.

Akko then put her cell away as she then pulled out the book of the cloud, but now the book was different. Where it was once red like the Cloud cards it was now pink like the Akko cards. When Akko asked why Yue told her that her magic was now starting to flow through the book changing its color.

"Akko are sure you should have done that in the school?" Asked Lotte as using technology in the school was against the rules.

"If I want to figure this out, I need to break a few rules here and there." Reasoned Akko. "Anyway, that wasn't a huge rule."

"True, but if you break it too many times, they won't look the other way." Said Diana as she joined them at their table.

"Diana!" Said Akko as she glad to see her. "Did you find out anything?" She asked hoping she had something.

"I'm afraid not." Said Diana as she agreed with this course of action. "But I just sent the message so it may take some time."

Hearing that Akko frowned as she was worried. Frist was water tornadoes, then a giant teddy bear. If she had learnt anything form these two incidents was whoever was responsible was powerful. And who knows what they could do next.

"I'm going to do a fortune telling." Akko suddenly said surprising the others.

"A fortune telling?" Repeated Diana confused.

"Yes." Said Yue as he explained. "The cards can be used to tell the future if used right."

"I had no idea." Said Diana as she had never heard of this before.

Akko then brought out all the cards and sat them on the table. She then mixed all the cards with her left hand and then put them back into a pile. She then cut them into three piles with her left hand again. Then she restacked them while still using her left hand. Akko then placed the some of the cards before her in a diamond fashion. One at the top, two then two, then three, then two again, and finally one at the bottom.

Akko then closed her eyes. "Card created by Clow and me, reply to my query. Show me who is causing these problems before me." Said Akko as a wind surrounded her and the cards glowed.

Akko then turned over the top card revealing the RETURN card.

"The RETURN card." Said Kero wondering what it meant.

"RETURN can send you to the past. So, does this mean the problem is form the past?" Asked Akko trying to understand it.

"Both Cloud Reed and Beatrix had many enemies so maybe it the descendants of one of them." Suggested Yue as that would make sense.

"But what about Cloud Reed's symbol in the bear?" Asked Lotte as she chimed in.

Hearing that no one had anything. Akko them turned over the middle cards revealing the POWER, the WATERY, and the TWIN.

"What does this row mean?" Asked Diana curious.

"It represents what the people after me are like." Said Akko as she looked at the cards and what they mean.

"What do you mean?" Asked Sucy as she looked at the cards.

"POWER, WATERY and TWIN. These cards have a relationship with the people after me." Akko told her.

"You keep saying there's more then one? Why is that?" Diana asked Akko curious to why she thinks that.

"My dream." Said Akko as she then explained. "When I first had it there were four people. And we just learnt that two of them are here."

"Then what does the cards tell you?" Asked Diana as this was out of her league.

Akko looked at them as they didn't make sense. POWER was that power or strength, TWIN was two, and WATERY was something she couldn't figure out as it meant so many different things.

"I'm not sure." Said Akko as she looked at Kero and Yue who shrugged and shake their heads.

Seeing this Akko then turned over the last card revealing MIRROR.

"What does this one mean?" Asked Diana.

"This is what they're after." Said Akko wondering what MIRROR meant.

"Could they be after you?" Asked Lotte looking at Akko.

"What do you mean?" Asked Kero wondering what her train of though was.

"Well when you look in a mirror you see yourself and if this what they after wouldn't that mean they're after Akko." Explained Lotte as it did make sense.

"But, for what reason?" Asked Yue as there was many reasons.

Akko sighed as it was something, they would have to figure out later as she gathered the cards. But as she held both WATERY and POWER in her hands, they felt weird to her, as one was warmer than another.

"Kero, Yue there's something wrong with the Clow cards." Said Akko with worry in her voice.

"What do you mean?" Asked Yue as he hoped it wasn't what he thought.

"The Clow cards, they feel cold." Akko told them confusing Lotte, Sucy and Diana.

"Aren't cards normally room temperature?" Asked Sucy not understanding the concern.

"No." said Akko as she though about how to explain it. "The cards have this warmth to them. It's like the warmth of another person. It what makes them special, what makes them alive. It helps me know that they're fine. But now they're kind of cold."

Kero and Yue both went to the Clow cards and placed a hand on a card. They then glowed as they connected with the cards and gasped.

"You're right." Said Kero with a worried expression on his face. "The cards that are still Clow cards are cold."

"Why?" Asked Akko hoping they knew the reason.

"How do I say this so it's easy to understand." Kero said to himself as he was better at these things, then Yue.

"These cards move using their master's magic powers. So, before you sealed them away, Akko, they were moving using the magic power that Clow Reed had left behind." Started Kero.

"Ok." Said Akko as he followed him.

"Magic power is like meals for these cards." Said Kero.

"Meals?" Asked Diana as she never thought of it like that.

"And after you dispersed and collected them and became their new master…" Trailed off Kero as Akko understood.

"My magic power became their meals?" Asked Akko making sure she understood what Kero was saying.

"That's right." Said Kero as Yue took over.

"But now, something is getting in the way and you can't use the Clow cards. That means the cards stay asleep." He told Akko as Akko looked worried.

"And if they stay asleep?" Asked Akko worried.

"They'll turn into ordinary cards." Said Yue in a grave tone.

Hearing that Akko and the other said nothing as this was big. But then Lotte realized something.

"Is that why Yue fell yesterday? You're running low on magic?" She asked as Kero and Yue looked away.

Seeing this Akko worry grew to a whole new level. "Kero, Yue." Was all she could say.

Seeing the worried look on Akko's face Kero sighed.

"It's not the whole reason." Said Kero as he and Yue shared a look. "The truth is…"

"We don't have enough magic." Cut in Yue.

"What do you mean." Akko asked them worried about their well being.

"When you passed the final test and became the master of the Cloud cards as well as our master. Both me and Cerberus now draw our magic from you." Explained Yue surprising everyone.

"But Kero says I have a huge amount of magical power." Said Akko confused.

"While it is true you have a large amount, it's nowhere near that of Cloud Reeds magical power." Said Kero with a grin face as he then added. "But while me and Yue are in these forms, we draw very little power from you, so we're safe."

"Isn't there a way for me to make my magic grow faster?" Asked Akko as she felt tears forming in her eyes.

"Well…" Started Kero as he wasn't sure if he should tell her this or not but choose to. "When you transform the cards, it causes your magic to grow."

"Then I'll transform them all!" Declared Akko as she brought out her keys shocking the everyone.

"Oh, key that hides the power of the stars, reveal your true power before me. I, Akko command you under our contract. Release!" Said Akko gaining everyone in the room attention.

"Akko stop!" Said Yue as it fell on deaf ears.

Akko raised her staff as eight Cloud cards flew into a circle around her as Akko's magic symbol appeared under her.

"Cards created by Clow, abandon your old form and reincarnate, under the name of Akko, your new master!" Chanted Akko as she turned to the first card. "THROUGH! CLOUD! LIBRA! LITTLE! MIST! SAND! WAVE!"

But as Akko came to the last card, she looked like she was about to fall over. "DASH!" Finished Akko as she fell backwards. She would have hit the floor if Diana didn't get up and caught her.

"Akko are you ok?" Asked Diana as Akko was a little out of it.

Akko regained her bearings as she smiled at the seven cards before her. "I'm fine." Said Akko weakly as Yue and Kero flew over to her.

"What recklessness was that?" Asked Kero as he turned around and used his wings as fans for Akko. "If you transform all those cards with what magic you have now of course you'll collapse."

But Akko didn't care as the cards flew down to her hovered around her causing her to smile. But it was then she realized one wasn't there. Looking around she found DASH hovering over an empty table. And for whatever reason DASH was glowing as it just hovered in place.

Then wisps of energy came out of the card and formed a shape on the table. The creature looked like a small fox with rabbit like ears and a long slender tail. Its fur was blue and on its forehead was a diamond-shaped mark. This was DASH's true form.

"DASH?" Said Akko confused. Why did DASH come out like this? She didn't give it any commands.

"Close all the doors now!" Ordered Yue as the students near the doors did just that. The Student knew that when Yue raised his voice it was for a good reason.

"Yue, Kero what's going on?" Asked Akko as she took a step towards DASH only for its fur to raise up and it to growl at her. Seeing this Akko took a step back.

"Its confused right now." Answer Kero in serious tone.

"Confused?" Repeated Akko confused.

"Because you changed that many cards at once. You couldn't control all of them!" Said Kero as he added. "And on top of it, you invoked a card with no target, so DASH doesn't know what to do right now."

"What can I do?" Asked Akko as this was serious.

"We need to calm it down." Said Yue as DASH was looking around the room.

Yue then looked around the room and saw the students were unsure as this was new to them. But then one of the doors burst opened as Amanda walked in with her door.

"What's going on here?" Amanda asked everyone as her eyes landed on DASH. "What is that?"

"Close the door!" Yelled Yue worried that DASH would use this chance to escape. But DASH had calmed down as it looked at Amanda more specialty her broom as if it was calling out to it.

Then to everyone surprised DASH jumped forward as it transformed into energy again and flew towards Amanda's broom. It then merged with her broom and then flew out of her hands.

"What the?!" Said Amanda shocked at what just happened.

"This isn't what we need." Said Kero as DASH flew around the ceiling.

"I'll use WINDY to bring it down." Said Akko as she got ready, but then another door opened.

"Why is this door closed." Asked Hannah as she saw a broom fly her way and the next thing she knew she was on it as it flew outside.

Seeing this Hannah cried out in fear. Hearing her scream DASH stopped and tried to buck Hannah off. Everyone quickly got outside and saw this. And then to their horror Hannah flew off the broom.

"JUMP!" Cried Akko as she planned to jump up and catch her, but due to her being tired JUMP ended up on Amanda somehow.

"What the?!" Said Amanda as she saw little wings on her shoes.

"Quickly jump up and catch her!" Said Kero as Amanda did what she was told and jumped.

To her amazement she flew upwards towards Hannah as she felt the wing through her hair. She then reached Hannah and grabbed her bridal style as they fell down. Amanda braced herself for when the hit the ground, but to amazement she didn't feel any pain.

"Thank you." Said Hannah with a blush as she was still in Amanda's arms.

Realizing this Amanda let her down as she had a blush on her face. "No problem." She told her as she looked up at her broom.

Luckily it was circling around, as if it was testing out its new body. Akko brought out the FLY card and was about to use it when Yue spoke up.

"It won't work." He told Akko. "FLY won't be fast enough to catch DASH while in the broom."

"Then nothing can catch it?" Said Akko with a frown as she then felt something.

"Then call me nothing." Said something in Akko's head as to everyone's shock and amazement the Shooting Star flew down out of no where and stopped in front of Akko.

"Shooting Star!" Said Akko as she wasn't expecting to see it. The broom head then pointed at Akko then to it's back.

"You want to help me?" Asked Akko as the broom nodded its 'head' yes. Akko grinned as she got on, but then to her surprised Amanda got on ahead of her.

"Amanda?" Said Akko confused to what she was doing.

"That's my broom up there and you have next to no experience with flying brooms. You need me." Said Amanda as Akko had no counter.

DASH then took off as it had a good feeling of its new body. Seeing this Akko nodded yes to Amanda as they took off with Kero and Yue holding on to Akko. Everyone watched as the four took off as they knew they couldn't do anything to help.

"What is going on here?" Asked headmistress Holbrooke as she walked over as she saw many students standing outside while the doors to the cafeteria were closed.

Many students didn't know what to say and looked towards Diana. Diana saw this and understood why they were looking at her.

"You see…" Started Diana as she explained what just happened.

Elsewhere Akko and Amanda were quickly catching up to Amanda's broom.

"This is easy." Boasted Amanda as they were about to take her broom.

"DASH isn't a long-distance runner. It can only speed up objects for so long." Said Kero as this felt too easy.

Then out of no where DASH did a nose dive. Everyone watched as it dropped to the ground. But at the last second it pulled up and used the momentum it gained to speed up again.

"What the?!" Said Amanda shocked at what it just saw.

"DASH is known for speed, but this is the first time I've seen it do something like that before." Said Yue as he didn't know DASH could use tactics like that.

"But we got the fastest broom in the world." Said Akko as she grinned.

"Like I'll lose to it." Said the Shooting Star in Akko's head.

They then speeded up as they got closer to DASH, but as they did it suddenly did a sharp turn right. Seeing this Amanda turned the Shooting Star to follow it, but when they did it was gone. Everyone looked around confused, wondering where DASH went.

"It's up there!" Yelled Kero as everyone looked up and saw that DASH elevated itself.

Amanda then got to the same level as DASH, but then DASH speed up again putting more distance between them.

This is how it went for a while, every time they got close DASH would suddenly move or speed up. It was getting the point where Akko and Amada were getting really fed up.

"How long can DASH keep this up?" Growled Amanda.

"To be honest it's because your broom is in such great shape, that we're having this much trouble." Said Yue as if it was any other broom, they would have caught DASH by now.

Hearing that Akko frowned as it felt like they were going in circles.

'Circles!' Thought Akko as she got an idea. She looked around and saw the school coming up fast.

"DASH!" Yelled Akko hoping it could hear her. "Please stop! I'm sorry for what happened."

"Akko what are you doing?" Asked Amanda confused why Akko was suddenly yelling.

"Please DASH slow down so we can talk." Continued Akko as she didn't answer Amanda.

Akko kept this up for a few minutes as Amanda saw what she thought was Akko's plan and while she didn't like it, she went along with it.

DASH was so focused on Akko that it failed to look in front of it until it almost hit the school. DASH had to suddenly stop as it spun in a circle trying to understand what happened.

The Shooting Star then came to a stop near DASH as Akko quickly jumped off.

She then held a Cloud card in front of her before she revealed it to be the LOOP card. She then tossed it before her as it spun in place.

"Card created by Clow, abandon your old form and reincarnate, under the name of Akko, your new master!" Said Akko as she brought her staff to the card. "LOOP keep DASH here."

Then a line circled around DASH and Akko's group trapping them inside. DASH tried to get away only to find itself still in the same area. DASH tried other angles to escape from but ended up in the same area. Seeing it was trapped DASH ditched Amanda's broom and took its real form as it growled at Akko.

"Akko!" Cried Lotte as she and other students came over as they saw them landing. Lotte took a step forward but was affected by Loop and was facing the group.

"What?" Said Lotte confused.

"It's the LOOP card." Explained Diana as it was the only reason why.

Akko then surprised everyone as she let go of her staff and took a step forward.

"DASH, I'm sorry." Said Akko as she bowed to DASH. Seeing this DASH lowered it's guard a little bit, but was ready to run if it needed to.

"When I found out what could happen to you and the other Cloud cards, I was scared. Scared of losing all of you. You're not source of power to me, but my friends and allies. And because of that I hurt you." Said Akko as she spoke from her heart.

DASH could feel the sincerity in Akko's words as it understood Akko. DASH then calmed down and walked over to Akko and started to make a mewing sound telling Akko it forgave her. Hearing this Akko smiled and scooped DASH up and gave it a hug.

"I got to admit." Said Amanda as she walked over. "Your now one of my favorite cards. I've never had that much trouble keeping up with another broom before."

Hearing that DASH jumped out of Akko's arms and onto Amanda's shoulder and licked her face.

"Hey! Stop that! That tickles." Said Amanda between laughs.

Akko smiled as she held out her hands. "DASH can you go back into your card form please?" Asked Akko as DASH nodded and turned back into a card. Seeing this Akko left out a breath of relief as LOOP deactivated.

"Thank you, both of you, for your help." Said Akko as she looked at Amanda and the Shooting Star.

But the strain from all the cards she transformed came back to her as she then fell forward. She would have hit the ground if Diana didn't catch her in time.

"You're getting pretty good at that." Joked Sucy as that was the second time today Diana did that.

Diana didn't say anything, but a light blush did appear on her face, as Akko slept peacefully in her arms.

The next day Akko had a talking with Holbrooke. While she did understand what happened thanks to Diana, she wanted to hear what happened from Akko. She explained how she was worried for the cards and let her concerns control her judgement and understood what she did wrong and how to avoid it in the future.

Hearing this Miranda nodded as she was glad things did work out. Normally she would have punished Akko for causing such a scene, but if she was in her place Holbrooke would have done the exact same thing. So, she let Akko off with a warning this time.

Later that day Akko walked into the cafeteria with Kero and Yue and saw Amanda and her team.

"Amanda!" Said Akko as she walked over to her table and sat down.

"Hey Akko." Greeted Amanda as Constanze and Jasminka nodded her way as they were focus on their own things.

"I wanted to say thank you for yesterday. If it wasn't for you, I might have not caught DASH." Said Akko.

"No problem. That was the most fun I've had in a while." Said Amanda with a shrug.

"Still I have something for you." Said Akko as she brought out a tart.

Amanda looked at the tart then Akko. "Thanks." Was all she could say.

"I'm not done yet. Release." Said Akko as she brought out her staff and then an Akko card. "BIG!"

The tart then started to grow as it was the size of two pie's now. Seeing this Jasminka eyes went wide as she was ready to dig in.

"Hey, are you sure you should abusing a card like this?" Asked Amanda in a joking manner.

Akko just grinned. "Hey, I gave the card a job this time." She told Amanda as she brought out a knife.

It was then Lotte and Sucy joined them. "You can use cards like this?" Asked Lotte as she never thought of it before.

"This is what Cloud Reed made BIG for in the first place." Said Kero as he remembered the times Cloud Reed would make food bigger for him.

"Really." Said Akko as she never put much though into why they were made.

"Yes, he made two just for Beatrix." Said Yue as this got the girls attention.

"Which two?" Asked Lotte curious.

"He made GLOW to help propose to her and FLOWER for their wedding day." Yue told them.

"What other cards did he make for things like this?" Asked Akko as she never asked before.

"Well he made BUBBLES to help wash me, SLEEP for when the kids couldn't sleep and FLY so he could fly around." Said Kero as that last part caught Amanda's attention.

"He couldn't fly a broom?" She asked Kero.

"Yeah he would always fall off and the best he could do was a few feet." Kero told her as Amanda couldn't help but this that was just like what Eriol told her.

But she then put it to the side as she and the other dig into the jumbo tart. Unaware that Eriol was watching them from above with a small grin on his face as he then walked away.

And with that 10 more cards have been transformed. This will be the last large group transformations for as I've already transformed 21 cards.

Now I'm sure some of you are wondering why I brought in the Shooting Star and how it could still talk to Akko. The reasoning being is Akko formed a connection to it. And now the Shooting Star knows when Akko needs it. Think of it like when it showed up in the finale of Little Witch Academia when it showed up at the last minute to help Akko and Diana.

As for JUMP being used by Amanda, I don't see why not. As for as I know there is no rule saying that the one who activates the card has to use it. That and I also enjoy the Amanda/Hannah pairing as well.
