Chapter 10:

Return of the best friend

It was evening at Luna Nova as the students were having their dinner. The latest thing to happen to the school recently wasn't something related to the Cloud/Akko cards for a change.

It all started when Akko saw some dragons trying to steal the Sorcerer stone. Acting quickly, she used WINDY to make a barrier of wind around the tower stopping them. It then turned out that Luna Nova was behind on a debt they made with a dragon and said dragon was furious with Akko. But Diana saw the contract, which was written in ancient dragon which the staff couldn't read and found out they were being exploited. Caught red handed the dragon said their debt was paid in full and left them alone.

When word about this got out the students started to call Akko and Diane Luna Nova's power couple. Some were even calling them Diako. When the two heard this in class, they blushed and couldn't look at each other for the rest of the day.

Currently Akko was telling her friends the time she caught the RAIN card which was powering up the WOOD card in her house.

"So, the WOOD card nearly destroyed your house?" Asked Amanda in amazement.

"Yeah." Chuckled Akko as she learnt an available lesson about writing her name on the cards that day.

"So, some cards can power-up other cards." Said Sucy as that was interesting.

"I just wish I could see some of these captures." Lotte told them as it was amazing to listen to the stories but wished she could see them.

"Well, my friend Tomoyo recorded many of the captures. I can ask her to send a copy here for us to watch." Akko told her as they liked that idea.

"Hey, did you hear some big shot is coming here tomorrow to invest in the school." They all heard a nearby girl say.

"Someone coming to invest in the school?" Repeated Akko as this was the first she heard of this.

"I think the teachers said something about that, but with the whole situation with the dragon, I think everyone forgot." Lotte told Akko as she nodded.

Akko wondered who this could be, as part of her hoped it was someone she knew. But for now, she finished her dinner.

The next day the girls of Luna Nova were gathered outside as they awaited the arrival of the investor. Akko was in the crowd along with her team and her guardians. The staff of Luna Nova asked her to be there as her name was growing and they wanted to make a good first impression.

Soon they all saw a black limo pull up. Four woman wearing black suit came out of the car first as this caused Akko's eyes to widen as they were familiar. Then a woman and a young girl came out of the limo.

The woman had short burgundy hair that was longer on the right side and violet eyes. She was wearing a red business suit with a skirt.

The girl behind her had grey-violet wavy hair that went down to waist. She had purple eyes. She was wearing a red dress that matched the other woman's suit.

As soon as Akko saw who they were she forgot herself as she ran out of the crowd.

"Tomoyo!" Cried out Akko in joy seeing her best friend again.

Hearing and seeing Akko, Tomoyo ran forward too.

"Akko!" Cried out Tomoyo as the two gave each other a great big hug when they reached each other.

"It's so great to see you." Said Akko as it was too long for her.

"Same." Agreed Tomoyo as she missed Akko.

"It's great to see you Tomoyo." Said Kero as he flew over.

"And you too Kero." Said Tomoyo with a smile. "And I brough some home made sweets with me."

"Yes!" Said Kero with a fist pumped as Tomoyo sweets were the best.

It was then the Luna Nova staff came up to them.

"Miss Diadouji I'm terribly sorry for Miss. Kagari's actions right now." Said Holbrooke hoping they didn't lose their new investment.

"Don't be." Said Sonomi Diadouji. "Akko is like a second daughter to me."

"It's good to see you again Sonomi." Said Akko as she bowed to the older woman. Sonomi smiled as she looked at Kero.

"Image my surprise when I found out that you have the Cloud cards." Said Sonomi as she looked at Akko making Akko worried.

Sonomi then hugged Akko, making her relax.

"I'm just glad your safe." Sonomi told her as Akko really was like a second daughter to her.

Hearing that Akko felt some water in her eyes as she hugged her back. Sonomi then broke the hug and looked at Holbrooke.

"Shall we get started?" Sonomi asked Holbrooke.

"Yes." Said Holbrooke. "If you will follow me."

"Is it alright if I catch up with Akko?" Asked Tomoyo with a gentle smile.

Holbrooke thought about it. There were no classes today, so she saw no harm.

"Yes, you can." She told Tomoyo as she and Sonomi started to head to her office.

Tomoyo smiled as she then headed over to the car and brought out a duffle bag. Seeing this some of the staff and students looked at her confused.

"What is that?" Asked Holbrooke confused.

"This? It's just some tea and snacks for me and Akko and her friends." Hearing that Holbrooke was ok as Tomoyo continued. "Also measuring equipment and a new outfit for Akko to try on."

Seeing the smile on Tomoyo's face Holbrooke wasn't sure what to say as she just nodded. Akko on the other hand knew this was coming and wondered what Tomoyo had.

Later Akko and her friends were in the cafeteria at one of the larger tables. Joining them was Amanda and her team as Tomoyo asked for them to join as well. On the table was an assortment of small cakes and other treats and some tea.

"This looks amazing. Thank you Tomoyo." Said Lotte as she's never seen such nice cakes before.

"You're welcome Lotte." Said Tomoyo surprising Lotte.

"You know who I am?" Lotte asked her confused.

"Yes. Akko has told me all about you, Sucy, Amanda, Jasminka, and Constanze." Said Tomoyo as she looked at each of them as she said their name.

This surprised the girls as they didn't know Akko told others about them.

"So Tomoyo when did you find out about the Cloud cards?" Asked Amanda as she saw how friendly she was with Kero.

"The day after Akko became a Cardcaptor." Tomoyo told them surprising them.

"You told her just after you started?" Asked Sucy as she wondered why.

"Actually no." Akko told her as she nervously chuckled.

"I was experimenting with a new camera when I saw something in the sky. And imagine my surprise when I zoomed in and saw Akko flying on a staff with wings." Said Tomoyo as she shared how she found out.

"Really." Was all Amanda could say as that was the last thing she expected.

"And she was a huge help capturing the cards." Said Kero as he was already picking his cakes.

"How so?" Asked Amanda curious.

"Well, she gave us cellphones that allowed us to call Kero when a card appeared, and he wasn't there. She covered for me when I need to capture a card. And above all else she supported me." Said Akko with a smile as Tomoyo smiled back.

Though Akko, Tomoyo and Kero all agreed to keep them breaking and entering to themselves. They might have done it for a good reason, they didn't want to push their luck.

Soon the nine of them enjoyed their cakes and tea, as they got to know Tomoyo better and heard some stories about Akko's hometown.

After a while Tomoyo looked at Akko.

"Akko, could you stand up?" Tomoyo asked her as Akko knew what she was asking for.

Akko then stood up and held her arms out. Seeing this Tomoyo got up and brought out a measuring tape. Seeing this Akko's friend were confused.

"What are you doing?" Asked Sucy curious.

"Taking Akko's measurements." Tomoyo told her as this confused them further.

"Why?" Sucy asked again.

"For Akko's outfits." Tomoyo told them as she measured Akko's height.

That was when Lotte and Sucy remembered Akko telling them about her battle outfits. They watched as they could see this was common for them as Akko would move without being told.

Soon they were done as Tomoyo then went to her bag and pulled out a curtain attached a pole. She then raised the pole as the curtain was hanging. She then pulled out a bag and held it out to Akko.

"Could you try this outfit out Akko?" Asked Tomoyo as Akko looked nervous.

"Tomoyo, couldn't we head to my room to try it on?" Akko asked her as she saw students looking their way confused.

Tomoyo looked at the mobile changing room and then realized something. She then went into her bag and pull out a lid.

"I understand Akko, but this is a quick outfit to put on and this lid will protect your modesty." Said Tomoyo as she gave Akko some puppy dog eyes.

Akko relented as Tomoyo put the lip on top and Akko went inside and changed.

"What are you doing?" Asked Diana as she walked over.

"Akko is just trying on my latest costume for her." Said Tomoyo as she knew who Diana was.

"But in the middle of the room?" Questioned Diana looking at the mobile changing room.

"It's a new product from my mothers' company. And I'm trying it out on the field." Tomoyo told her as Diana wasn't sure what to say.

"You should see the work Tomoyo does on her costumes. It's amazing." Said Kero as he added in.

"I don't care how well done they are. Student shouldn't cha…" Trailed off Diana as Akko came out.

Akko was wearing a white, short, puffed-sleeved dress with a frilled white skirt and light pink tulle. She also had on a pink ribbon collar with a simple yellow star brooch around her neck. She had on long white stocking with white frills and pink ribbons accents. The stocking on her right leg however went up to her knee with a long pink ribbon attached to it. And finally, she wore white ballet-flat shoes with yellow stars decorating the top.

Seeing this Diana was speechless as she couldn't look away from Akko as a blush formed on her face. Akko saw the way Diana was looking at her as she blushed as well.

"You look lovely." Said Tomoyo as she then noticed the looks on Akko's and Diana's face.

She then leaned over to Kero. "What's going on with them?" She asked her partner in crime as Kero got a gleam in his eyes.

"To make a long story short they're the schools power couple." He told Tomoyo who got a look in her eyes.

At the same time Akko's friends were looking at the dress she was wearing. Lotte thought it was lovely, Sucy just laughed as it was too white for her, Amanda didn't really care, Jasminka liked it as she eat more of the treats, and Constanze nodded in approval as she saw the hard work put into it.

"Does Tomoyo make you many costumes?" Asked Lotte curious.

Akko thought on it before answering. "She made me lots of clothes in the past. The costume really started when I was capturing the Cloud cards."

"So, she has them on her at all times?" Asked Sucy curious.

"Once or twice, but she usually had them ready when we need to wait to capture a card." Akko told her as this made Amanda curious.

"Wait you guys didn't break into anything, did you?" She asked them as she gave them a look.

"Not at all." Said Akko nervously as she thought about the aquarium.

"Never once." Said Tomoyo as she thought about the museum.

"Never had to." Said Kero as he thought about all the times they broke into Akko's old school.

All three of them then gave a nervous chuckle as Amanda eyed them as she could tell they were hiding something. It was then Lotte remembered something.

"Tomoyo, Akko said you filmed her as she was sealing the cards, is that right?" Lotte asked her as nearby students listened in curious.

"Yes. I even brought the master copy with me. Akko said she learnt a spell that would share her point of view with the video." Tomoyo told Lotte as more students were curious.

"Then could we watch them?" Lotte asked her hoping she would say yes.

But before Tomoyo could answer other students spoke up.

"Can I too?" One asked.

"Where will you do this?" Another asked.

"When it happen?" Another student asked.

More and more students spoke up as they wanted to see the Cloud cards in action. Hearing this Tomoyo smiled as she answered.

"We could do a big viewing, but we should get permission first." Said Tomoyo as she had no problem showing everyone.

Akko on the other hand wasn't sure what to think. While she had no problem wearing Tomoyo's costumes, but some of them were a bit out there.

"I can take you to the headmistress, to get permission." Said Diana as she walked to see the cards in action herself.

"Lead the way." Said Tomoyo as the two left.

As they walked Tomoyo looked at Diana as she remembered what Akko told her.

"You know Akko has told me a bit about you." Said Tomoyo as that was a bit of a lie, as Akko talked about her a lot.

"Such as?" Asked Diana curious.

"That Cloud Reed is your ancestor. That your one of the top students here. That she feels like she can count on you when she needs help." Said Tomoyo as that last part was a bit of a lie.

Hearing that Diana blushed a little. "She has." Was all she could say, hoping Tomoyo didn't see her blush.

But Tomoyo did as that confirmed what she thought. She then decided to help them out.

"You know Akko prefers girls." Tomoyo suddenly said causing Diana to almost trip over her own feet.

"What?!" Was all she could say.

"I see the look on your face, you care for her more then a friend." Said Tomoyo as she knew the look well.

"What, do you mean?" Asked Diana as she wasn't sure what to say.

"It's a look I used to have." Said Tomoyo as she added. "I used to think of Akko more than a friend. But after a scouting the area for the WATERY card, which was almost like a date, we felt we were better off as friends."

Hearing that Diana couldn't say anything as she thought her actions lately was because of how the other students were calling her and Akko the power couple of the school. But could it be because she felt different about her.

"Please don't say anything to anyone." Said Diana as she had a sober face on. "I need to sort out my feelings."

Hearing that Tomoyo put a hand on her shoulder. "Of course. But I think Akko likes you too." Said Tomoyo with a warm smile.

"What do you mean?" Asked Diana confused.

"I lied to you a bit. Akko talks about you a lot to me." Said Tomoyo as Diana didn't know what to think or say.

So with nothing else to say the two continued on. But Diana couldn't stop thinking about Akko. Did she care about her more then she thought? Or is this just a high from people calling them the power couple of Luna Nova? All Diana did know was she had some thinking to do.

And that this chapter. I felt a nice, short and sweet chapter worked best here. Not all of them have to be long and action packed.

The next chapter I will do a screening of past captures. I already have a list of what cards I plan to use. That brings me to a little contest I'm holding. The first person who can tell me where the outfit Akko wore in the chapter came from in the Cardcaptor anime, will get their choice of Cloud card capture in the next chapter. If I'm already using it, you'll get to choose again. Just as long as Tomoyo recorded it. If you have no choice the next person will get to choose. I will PM the winner.
