Chapter 15: Do you Believe in Destiny?

Lucas landed on the ground inside of the room, and was greeted with the confused looks of DCMC members, as well as Kumatora, still dressed up as Violet.

"Uh...sorry…" Lucas said, rubbing the back of his head. "Kinda...dropped in there."

Kumatora rolled her eyes as she walked up to him, a mild frown on her face. "What took you so long?!" she asked.

"You didn't tell me you had live instruments that hated these people so much." Lucas replied. Kumatora only looked at him with a doubtful look before shaking her head and turning back to the five members.

"Well, you took so damn long, that I had to explain all the shit myself." she grumbled. "Try and see if you can convince him yourself.

Lucas approached Duster, who was the band member wearing a brown afro wig in the center. "Hey, Duster…" Lucas said calmly.

"Tonda Gossa!" Lucky replied. "Do uh...do we know each other?"

Lucas looked back at Kumatora, who rolled her eyes again after facepalming. "This is the kid I was talking about earlier, Duster. You two know each other, you promised his father that you'd help him out before you disappeared."

"I don't remember my real name," Lucky replied back to her. "So I've been Lucky for years now."

"Alright...Lucky." Lucas said, noticing Kumatora's ready to explode expression. "Could you um...at least tell me what you do remember."

"Well...I can tell something important is taking place here, so sure, why not?" Lucky said. Lucas waited patiently. At bare minimum, he knew old man Wess wanted some weird egg that Duster had been carrying."

"Basically, I washed ashore one day in a stream close by here." Lucky said. "I had no idea who I was, where I came from, or where I was going, you know." Lucas nodded his head. "However, I was clutching some weird egg with great care." Lucas noted Kumatora's perk up, he guessed old man Wess put her up to this as well.

"I didn't know where I was going, yet I continued to walk desperately, because something in the back of my head told me that the Egg was too important, and that it needed to be hidden. So, I walked and walked, and, eventually, I buried the egg inside a big dirt clod in a valley nearby, where I knew no one would ever find it."

"Do you uh...know where?" Lucas asked.

"Course I do," Lucky replied. "You just gotta go up a cliff near a giant waterfall and...it's buried near a weird, mossy clay statue thingy."

Lucas irked a little. That must've been a deactivated clay golem, if the Pigmasks' found out, they'd storm that place in an instant. Hopefully there weren't spys or stuff like that nearby.

"That's where it is?!" Kumatora shouted. "We need to go there now!"

Lucky seemed taken aback. "What?! But, what if I'm not this Duster fellow! I could end up being executed by that Piggly King Porky!"

Porky? That must've been the ringleader. Lucas thought to himself. Either that, or he was someone big like Fassad. Duster must've been a form of entertainment with the rest of the DCMC.

Kumatora rolled her eyes. "Fine, then I'll go myself, with Lucas." Lucas flinched a little at that, thankful that Kumatora wasn't paying attention.

"Now, wait a moment." The tallest member of the band, named OJ walked up to Lucky.

"What, you saying I should leave the band OJ?" Lucky asked.

"Not exactly my man." OJ replied calmly. "Just, I want you to take a moment to consider a few things. First of all, Violet and this boy, along with his weirdly furry friend seem quite adamant on getting you outta here."

"Yeah, but, what if they're like...just fans or something?"

"Well, they seem to hold you with importance," OJ replied, glancing at Kumatora. "Now, I don't think these two would go through all this trouble to try and take advantage of a man who doesn't remember much. They're even calling you Duster, and looking for that egg you were carrying."

"Yeah, but…"

"Now...don't you think it's a little bit odd that they're being so persistent about this whole convoluted story? All this crazy stuff sounds ridiculous, and, I'm certain King Porky wouldn't mind if you disappeared...Truth be told, he doesn't like you." Lucky looked slightly heartbroken at that.

"Errr, anyway." OJ continued. "Perhaps you can go out and travel. We can hold down the fort for you to come back if it turns out you aren't this Duster fella, I'm certain Violet and this young man will be happy to take you along. Plus, they'll need some help finding that egg. Especially with those chimeras those Pigmasks are making."

"What about the Fallen 4?" Lucky asked. "We are the only people who uh...you know...keep them in check?"

"We can work something out, I'm sure one less person won't make a difference." OJ looked at Lucky's hesitant face.

"Listen, Lucky, I'm not saying you SHOULD go, but I think you should think about what they're saying. It might be good for you to get out, figure out who you truly are."

Lucky looked back and Lucas, Boney, and Violet. Specifically in Lucas' eyes, he could see a sad young boy, someone who looked as though they hadn't grown from some traumatic incident in the past. He recalled a similar face from some point in the past, a blond boy with an upset attitude.

"I promise, if there's ever anything I can do to help, just let me know." something about that memory came flooding back to him, something about the man he said that too, told him that this was this blond boy's father.

"Tell me, Lucky," OJ said to him, patting him on the back. "Do you believe in destiny?"

Lucky walked up to Lucas. "Okay, he said, I can come with you, but, if it's truly meant to be, then surely you'd beat in a round of Rock-Paper-Scissors?!"

Lucas gulped nervously. A one third chance of him getting it right was what Duster was leaving this chance up to? That was...nerve racking. Lucas looked at him, and that's when an inner voice started speaking.

"If it's truly meant to be, then he'll scissors my paper." Lucas blinked for a moment, was...was that? Duster's voice?

"Ready?" Lucky asked. "One...Two...Three." In a split second, Lucas held two of his fingers sideways, and, to his great surprise, Lucky responded with a flat palm of his hand.

Lucky looked at the two hands facing each other in a standoff, and simply nodded his head.

"Alright then Lucas, looks like it's my destiny to go with you." he said.

My apologies for making you all wait yet another month for an upload. I got swarmed up in my first job that I hope to be maintaining throughout the remainder of my school life, through college and the rest of high school, as well as the summers. I can't quite promise a consistent upload yet, however, I do hope to at least update these much more frequently than just once a month.

Anyway, I don't really have much else to say to anyone today, if you're enjoying this, you're always free to let me know.

See you all, next time.
