I don't own Digimon and never will. I do, however, own the forms the Chosen Children have changed into. Updates to the story will happen when they happen, I don't plan on updating like every week, I still have a life outside the fantasy world. Please read and review.
Chapter III
Double Howls
It has been a little over an hour since the children and Digimon left the beach. Taichi was still unconscious on Yamato's back but would occasionally open his eyes slightly. Noticing a small cliff, the children head over and look out toward the horizon noticing the sea. Groaning, Taichi finally starts to stir on Yamato's back. Letting Taichi down slowly, Yamato lends a shoulder for Taichi to lean on.
"What happened?" asked Taichi, trying to get his bearings. "Where are we?"
"We're no longer on the beach," replied Yamato, supporting Taichi. "Do you remember what happened?"
"I … uh…," said Taichi, trying to remember only to blanch when he remembered attacking Shellmon in a bloody rage. "Don't think I really want to remember right now."
"You look like you're back in control anyway," said Kōshirō, rubbing his fingers on one of Taichi's wings. "Fascinating, despite the wings being bat like the membrane area is feathery."
"St-Stop that," said Taichi, moving away from Kōshirō, not liking the feeling of Koshiro's fingers touching his wing. "Tha-That doesn't feel good."
"Sorry Taichi," said Kōshirō, looking at the boy. "I didn't know."
"What's going on with me?" thought Taichi, rubbing the area where Kōshirō touched. "I've never been like this."
Backing up slightly, Taichi looses his footing and starts to teeter of the cliff. Agumon quickly grabs hold of Taichi's suikan/hitatare and pulls the boy to safety. Then a roar is heard and a Monoclonius like Digimon rams through a boulder nearby.
"What is that?" asked Kōshirō, staring at the new Digimon before them.
"That's Monochromon," replied Tentomon, staring at the Digimon. "But he's a really nice Digimon, so there's no need to worry."
"You say that," said Taichi, seeing that Monochromon was coming in their direction. "But he's heading towards us!"
"No!" said Mimi, not liking that Monochromon was getting closer. Then another roar is heard behind them and another Monochromon inches closer.
"There's another one!" shouted Jō, looking between the two Monochromon.
"Not good…" said Yamato, eyeing the situation before them. "They've got us on both sides."
"Run, guys!" shouted Taichi, leading the others behind some boulders, before seeing the two Monochromons fighting each other. "They're fighting each other?"
"Why?" asked Kōshirō, staring at the fighting Monochromons.
"They must be fighting over territory," replied Tentomon, seeing the two Monochromon go at each other.
"Let's get out of here while we still can," said Palmon, turning around before running with the others following in pursuit.
"Wait Palmon!" said Mimi, trying to catch up with Palmon. "Don't run ahead on your own!"
"Takeru!" shouted Patamon, seeing that the boy tripped.
"Are you alright?" asked Yamato, leaning down towards his brother.
"You're fine, right Takeru?" asked Taichi, looking back at the youngest member of the group.
"Yeah!" replied Takeru, getting back up.
As the children and Digimon ran further away from the battling Monochromon, they eventually slow down into a walk when they figured out that they were no longer in harms way. They traveled for quite a bit in the forest before Mimi started to whine.
"I'm tired…" said Mimi, leaning against a tree.
"Just a little further, Mimi," said Taichi, walking past the girl.
"My calves will get fat," whined Mimi, not wanting to move anymore.
"Fatter legs are better, Mimi," said Agumon, staring at the girl. "They can support your weight, and you can kick the dirt with them."
"I'm not like you," replied Mimi, staring at Agumon.
"That's right!" said Palmon, agreeing with Agumon somewhat. "Feet that look like plant roots are more beautiful!"
"I don't like that either," said Mimi, before looking down at her own feet. "I wonder if these are just boots."
"The sunset has a very strange color," said Kōshirō, staring at the first sunset they've seen in this world.
"Looks like the day is almost over," said Sora, looking at the sunset as well.
"What should we do?" asked Kōshirō, wondering what the next steps would be. "It'll be dangerous to venture any further when it gets darker."
"I smell something. I smell it! The smell of fresh water!" said Tentomon, smelling the air around them before flying up onto a tree to check the surroundings. "Aah, we've got drinking water! It's a lake! A lake! Let's camp over there!"
"I agree!" replied Mimi, sitting on the ground. The leavy foliage that were her legs changed into a set of garter-like anklets of green leaves with a single pink flower on the side. "Yay! These are so cute!"
"I'm gonna…" said Gomamon, about to run to the lake only for Jō to grab his tail.
"Hold it right there, Gomamon!" said Jō, keeping a firm grip on Gomamon's tail. "You're not going in without me!"
"Ehehe," giggled Gomamon, looking back at Jō.
"What?" asked Jō, wondering why Gomamon giggled.
"Someone's eager to play in the water as well," said Gomamon, getting Jō to blush. "That's okay! Swim to your heart's content!"
"This isn't funny!" said Jō, only to realize that he really did want to swim just as much as Gomamon. "Just stop teasing me already!"
"I think we've walked far enough today," said Yamato, seeing his brother sitting on the ground next to Mimi.
"Everyone's tired and hungry," said Taichi, seeing that everyone was about to reach their limits for the day.
"Okay!" said Jō, looking at everyone. "We'll camp there tonight!"
"Wow!" said Piyomon, looking at the lake as they walked closer. "What a huge lake!"
"This is the best place for camping," said Sora, looking around the place.
"Hey, does camping mean we have to sleep outdoors?" asked Mimi, staring at Taichi.
"Looks like it," replied Taichi, staring back at Mimi.
"No way!" whined Mimi, not liking the idea of sleeping outdoors. Just then, the headlights of a trolley car on an inlet lit up.
"The lights came on!" said Taichi, noticing the trolley alongside the others.
"It's a trolley!" said Takeru, his tail wagging in excitement.
"What is it doing here …?" asked Kōshirō, staring at the trolley.
"Hey, maybe someone's inside!" said Sora, wondering if there was someone there.
"Let's take a look!" said Taichi, running towards the inlet. The moment they all got there and inside the trolley, they found no one there. "No one's here!"
"Yeah!" agreed Sora, walking further onto the trolley.
"It's still pretty new," said Kōshirō, examining the trolley.
"These cushions are really comfy!" said Mimi, sitting on one of the seats.
"I don't get this…" said Taichi, folding his arms over his chest. "First the phones at the beach, now this … what's going on?"
"You don't think this will start moving on its own, do you?" asked Jō, sitting in the driver's seat with his hands on the steering wheel.
"Of course not!" said Taichi, staring at Jō. "For one thing, they're no tracks!"
"This place will be comfortable to sleep in," said Sora, sitting down on one of the seats and resting a bit.
"But why don't we get food first?" said Tentomon, seeing everyone agree with his suggestion.
And just like that, everyone split into different groups. Jō and Gomamon stuck to diving into the lake and hunting down any fish that came their way. Sora tried to imitate predatory birds back home and tried to fly over the lake somewhat before swooping down and grabbing fish that were closer to the surface. Her attempts were sloppy at best but she did gain quite a few large fish in the process. The heavier ones she had to let go since she couldn't support their weight currently. Jō on the other hand, ran out of the water, not just cause of the fish in his arms and one dangling in his mouth but because he saw something in the lake.
"There's a Digimon in the lake!" shouted Jō, spitting the fish out before looking back towards the area where he saw the Digimon. "We're going to get attacked again, I know it!"
"Calm down Jō," said Sora, laying a fish down near his pile. "If it saw you, it would have attacked by now."
"But," said Jō, before Gomamon swam out and confronted the boy.
"Sora's right," said Gomamon, shaking off excess water. "Besides, Seadramon is sleeping. As long as he sleeps, we're okay."
"If you say so," said Jō, before looking at the lake. "Think we need any more fish?"
"I think we have enough for a buffet," said Sora, looking at the large pile of fish. "And probably more for tomorrow morning."
While they talking, Mimi and Palmon was searching in the nearby forest for any edible plants and fruits. Taichi was nearby picking up any sticks for a fire alongside Kōshirō and their Digimon. Noticing a patch of mushrooms, Mimi is about to touch them before hearing a voice.
Don't… poison… not edible
"Huh, did you say something Palmon?" asked Mimi, looking towards Palmon.
"No," replied Palmon, before seeing some berries. "These would be nice."
Here, here, over here
"Huh," said Mimi, seeing a bunch of mushrooms and other plants with a sparkle to them while others looked like they had a miasma to them. "What's going on?"
Edible, Tasty
Sparkling good
Miasma bad
"Who are you?" asked Mimi, trying to find the owner of the voice. "Where are you?"
Everywhere and Anywhere
Little Fairy
Will help on journey whenever on land
"Okay then," said Mimi, before a bunch of large leaves fall down before her. "What are these for?"
To carry your bounty of nature
"Why, thank you," said Mimi, stuffing any sparkling plants and fruits onto the leaves before trying them up.
Remember
Don't took anymore then what is needed
"Got'cha," replied Mimi, looking at the bunch she collected before looking in Taichi's direction. "What's your name?"
You may simply call me
Gaia
As Taichi and Kōshirō and their Digimon were picking up any large sticks for a fire, Taichi noticed a large boulder nearby. Putting the pile in his arms on the ground, Taichi stares at the boulder. Yamato and Takeru come over wondering what's on Taichi's mind. Taichi had to look away when he noticed their tails swishing about and that feeling coming back.
"What are you doing?" asked Yamato, walking over to Taichi. "Is there something up with that boulder?"
"It just caught my attention is all," said Taichi, before Takeru pulled on his sleeve.
"Taichi-san, your fingers," said Takeru, pointing at Taichi's right index and middle finger. "They're sparkling."
"What the?!" said Taichi, seeing that Takeru was right before the glow extended into a long whip. "Maybe…"
"Whoa, watch it!" shouted Yamato, backing away when Taichi utilized his new attack. The boulder that was in front of them was sliced at least twice. "What are you thinking? Someone could have got hurt."
"I was thinking that we could use this like a grill," said Taichi, trying to push the top part of the boulder off to get to the thinner area he wanted. "Help me move this."
"That could work I guess," said Yamato, walking over to help Taichi. "Oi, Takeru! Stand back!"
"But I can help," said Takeru, walking over as well.
"Better idea," said Taichi, staring at Takeru. "Go back with Mimi and tell the others to make a fire and a stand so we can put this slab on, okay."
"Okay," said Takeru, running over to Mimi before shouting back. "Be careful okay!"
"We will," shouted Taichi, before beginning to push on the top half of the boulder with Yamato and their Digimon. "Alright then, on three. One, two…"
When they were busy with the boulder, Takeru and Mimi with their Digimon head back to the campsite. Seeing the haul that the others got, Takeru places the pile of wood that Taichi left on the ground with Kōshirō's pile. After making sure the wood was placed right, they made a stand out of some nice size rocks they found and placed it in a circle around the wood.
"Okay, now how to get a fire started," said Sora, looking at their handiwork.
"Leave that to me," said Piyomon, walking forward.
Magical Fire!
"Awesome Piyomon!" said Sora, before seeing Taichi and Yamato and their Digimon carrying a slab of stone, and some smaller slabs on top.
"What's with the smaller ones?" asked Takeru, seeing them place the bigger slab over the fire on their makeshift stand.
"Cutting boards, plates, knifes etcetera," replied Yamato, glaring at Taichi. "Someone wanted to show off."
"Well excuse me for wanting to slice that boulder into useful stuff," said Taichi, glaring back before getting wet from Jō cleaning the slab down with some water. "What was that for?"
"Cleaning any grit and dust off that may have been left behind," said Jō, before bending down to check the fire. "We need to fan these flames if we really want to get it heated up."
"Me and Patamon can help with that," said Piyomon, flapping her wings alongside Patamon near the fire but far enough away so they wouldn't get burned.
"Well, why they are doing that, let's prep these fish," said Yamato, walking over to the pile of fish. "I'm not doing all of these by myself."
"I'll help," said Taichi, walking over and grabbing some fish. Yamato had to stop after his second fish when he saw how Taichi handled the fish in such a quick motion.
"How are you able to do that?" asked Yamato, staring at the eighth fish Taichi handled within the span of five minutes. "I'm still on my second fish."
"Otōsan would take me to the Sumiredōri Shopping District on occasions," said Taichi, reaching for another fish. "I enjoyed going there but Otōsan would leave me at his best friend's restaurant a lot so I picked up quite a few tricks from there."
"But so many in so little time," said Yamato, watching Taichi grab two more fish. "How?"
"I don't know," replied Taichi, shrugging and pushing the fish to the side and decided to slice up some of the fruit. "Maybe they went to Tōtsuki Culinary Academy."
"Eh," said Yamato, hearing of that school. "Never mind. I'm going to put these on the grill."
After cleaning and cutting up almost every fish and placing them on the grill, some were just skewered and placed underneath the slab for some variety. It took quite a while before the food was done. Stone slabs were given to everyone with some sliced fruit on it till the fish was done.
"Delicious," said Takeru, popping a berry in his mouth. "They almost taste like blackberries."
"These ones almost taste like goji berries," said Mimi, plopping a berry in her mouth. "I bet they would taste good in a parfait."
"What's a parfait?" asked Palmon, staring at Mimi.
"One of the best sweets back home," said Mimi, plopping another berry in her mouth. "I can't get enough of these!"
"Save some room for the main course," said Taichi, looking at the fish before putting a filet on his slab. "Looks done. Careful, they're hot."
"These are great as well," said Jō, placing quite a few fish on his slab. "Mimi, is something wrong?"
"The fish…" said Mimi, before trying to taste the fish again. "It doesn't taste good. I've had fish before but this… something's not right."
"Why not try one of these?" said Takeru, passing a fish skewer Mimi's way.
"No," said Mimi, after tasting the fish skewer. "It's the same. The fruits are great but not the fish."
"Maybe it's because you look like a fairy," said Kōshirō, staring at Mimi. "From what I've read about fairies, they don't eat meat but berries, nuts and any edible plants. Your bodily functions may have changed to accommodate to your new features."
"So not fair," whined Mimi, before plopping a slice of an odd melon in her mouth.
"Does that mean me as well?" thought Taichi, trying to eat anything before feeling sick. "Nothing I eat is settling. I feel like I'm going to puke!"
"Taichi…" said Agumon, staring at Taichi. "Are you okay?"
"Fine, never better," replied Taichi, biting into his filet before covering his mouth. "The food is just so good."
"Doesn't look like you're enjoying it," said Gabumon, eyeing Taichi.
"I just hit a bone is all," lied Taichi, before getting up and walking towards the forest. "Nature calls, be right back."
"Think Taichi is okay?" asked Gabumon, looking in the direction Taichi went.
"Well, Taichi did say he was fine," said Agumon, looking at Gabumon before looking where Taichi went. "I believe him."
"Takeru," said Yamato, staring at his younger brother eating a fish skewer. "Want me to take the bones out?"
"I'm good," replied Takeru, biting into his fish skewer. "Delish!"
As the group finished eating, Jō stared up at the night sky, trying to pinpoint where they were from the stars alone. No constellations or stars looked familiar to him. Jō turned around when he heard a rustle in the bush. Turns out, it was just Taichi coming back to camp after puking up his dinner. Sora come over to check on Taichi, only for him to walk past her.
"What are you doing?" asked Taichi, walking over to Jō.
"I was trying to figure out which direction we're in, but I can't find the North Star," replied Jō, staring up into the night sky again.
"You're right," said Sora, looking as well at the night sky. "I don't see any familiar constellations."
"That's odd…," said Taichi, looking as well and feeling at peace while looking at the night sky. "You can only see the North Star from the Northern Hemisphere, right?"
"Then could we be in the Southern Hemisphere?" asked Sora, staring at Jō.
"It can't be," said Jō, not seeing a certain constellation. "I don't see the Southern Cross, either."
"So, what does that mean?" asked Taichi, staring at Jō before looking back at the others and seeing them yawn.
"Sleepy, Patamon?" asked Takeru, wrapping his tail around Patamon.
"Let's get ready for bed," said Taichi, stretching his arms out over his head.
"Perhaps we should take turns keeping watch," suggested Kōshirō, walking over to Taichi.
"Good idea," said Jō, agreeing with Kōshirō. "Let's decide on an order."
"It's fine if the girls stay out of it," said Taichi, not wanting to hear Mimi complain about night shifts.
"Takeru doesn't need to either," said Yamato, standing up and facing the others.
"I'm fine!" said Takeru, tugging on Yamato's hakama.
"Don't worry about it," said Yamato, staring down at his younger brother. "Just sleep."
"But there's no bedding we can sleep in…" whined Mimi, preferring to sleep in something more comfortable.
"Hey, Gabumon. Let me borrow your pelt to use as a blanket," said Taichi, lifting Gabumon's pelt some. "I've been dying to see what you look like underneath that. Let me see!"
"Anything but that!" said Gabumon, pulling away from Taichi.
"Stop that!" shouted Yamato, pushing Taichi back roughly.
"What are you doing?" shouted Taichi, not liking being pushed like that.
"Can't you see he doesn't like it?" said Yamato, staring at Taichi.
"You didn't have to push me for that!" said Taichi, glaring at Yamato.
"Stop it, you two," shouted Takeru, seeing that those were about to fight physically.
"Err, so then…," said Jō, walking up to Taichi and Yamato. "Who will be our first lookout?"
"I'll do it!" said Taichi, looking at Jō. "I'm not really that tired anyway."
"I'm next!" said Yamato, facing Jō.
"O-Okay!" said Jō, suppressing a yawn. "Then, Kōshirō is third, and I'll be last. All right, everyone, let's sleep in the trolley!"
As the children and Digimon walked towards the trolley, Taichi had a small campfire going on the inlet the trolley was on. Staring up at the night sky, Taichi listens to the noises around before turning around and hearing Yamato come out of the trolley. Getting up, Taichi walks over to Yamato.
"It's too early to switch," said Taichi, staring at Yamato.
"I couldn't sleep," said Yamato, gripping a harmonica in his hand. "Sorry about earlier."
"No, I'm sorry too," said Taichi, apologizing as well.
"I'm always like this…," said Yamato, staring at the water before looking at Taichi. "Maybe that's why Takeru is more attached to you."
"Hey," said Taichi, looking at Yamato. "What is Takeru to you, anyway?"
"We're brothers," replied Yamato, sighing deeply before looking up at the moon. "Our parents divorced, so we're living separately."
"So that's it. Wa-Wait…," said Taichi, seeing Yamato run off the inlet with Gabumon shortly following after in secret. A soothing sound is heard moments later from Yamato playing his harmonica. "At least it's not me playing the koto. Sofu's lessons were murder."
"That's a nice tone," said Gabumon, walking up and listening to Yamato play his harmonica.
As the melody from the harmonica washes over everyone, soothing their worries from the day events. Unfortunately, one of the embers from the campfire popped when Taichi poked at the fire landing on what looked to be a red leaf stuck to the inlet. The red leaf ends up shaking and a small whirlpool rises up revealing a sea dragon like Digimon. The shaking and roaring from the sea dragon Digimon ended up waking the rest of the children.
"What's going on here?" said Sora, hearing the roar of the sea dragon Digimon.
"It's an earthquake!" shouted Mimi, from inside the trolley.
"The trolley really did start to move!" said Jō, thinking that the trolley really did move.
"A monster came out!" shouted Kōshirō, seeing the new Digimon before them.
"Seadramon!" shouted Jō, staring at the Digimon he saw earlier before the inlet started to break free and move along with Seadramon. "What woke him up?"
"What?" shouted Taichi, staring at Jō. "How do you even know that Digimon?"
"Jō and me saw it when we fished for food," said Gomamon, staring at Taichi. "As long as we didn't disturb it, he would not attack us."
"It stopped," said Agumon, seeing that the inlet stopped moving after a bit.
"You two didn't do anything bad to him, did you?!" asked Tentomon, staring at Taichi and Agumon.
"We did nothing!" said Taichi and Agumon, in unison. "Nothing at all!"
"You sure?" asked Gomamon, looking at them before Seadramon lifts up its tail.
"That leaf thing was actually his tail?" said Taichi, staring at the tip of the tail. "When I poked the fire, an ember popped. It must have landed on his tail."
"That would do it," said Gomamon, staring at Seadramon before he slapped the inlet with his tail before submerging back under the water.
"He's pissed!" shouted Taichi, seeing Seadramon get angrier.
"The island is drifting away!" shouted Jō, not liking that the inlet started moving again.
"Takeru!" shouted Yamato, jumping into the lake and swimming towards the others.
"W-Wait! My fur's going to get wet…" said Gabumon, staring at Yamato swimming away before deciding to jump in as well. "But here we go!"
"We finally stopped," said Taichi, seeing that some poles in the lake stopped the moving inlet in place.
"But now we can't escape anywhere!" shouted Jō, before staring at the water. "And I am not jumping into the water only for Seadramon to chase after me! No matter how enticing the lake is!"
"He's coming back!" shouted Taichi, gaining everyone's attention.
"Let's go, everyone!" shouted Agumon, to his fellow Digimon.
Magical Fire!
Air Shot!
Poison Ivy!
Petit Thunder!
Baby Flame!
"Agumon, evolve," said Taichi, seeing that their attacks weren't working.
"I've been trying to but I can't," said Agumon, staring at Taichi.
"Why?" asked Taichi, wondering why it couldn't be achieved.
"I told you, I don't know either!" said Agumon, trying to evolve. "What about one of your attacks? Think they would work?"
"Maybe…" said Taichi, before the event with Shellmon played in his head before backing away from Agumon. "No… No… I don't want that to happen again."
"Hey, Takeru!" shouted Yamato, getting closer to the others.
"Yamato-kun!" shouted Sora, seeing that he was swimming towards them.
"O-Onii-chan!" shouted Takeru, running towards the direction Yamato was swimming from before falling off the inlet. Gomamon jumped in after him and was able to let Takeru sit on his back.
"Nice, Gomamon!" shouted Jō, glad that Gomamon saved Takeru.
"Yamato, hurry!" shouted Taichi, wanting them out of the water.
"Yamato…" shouted Tentomon, gaining their attention. "It's Seadramon!"
"Gomamon, take care of him," said Yamato, making sure Gomamon takes Takeru to safety.
"Gotcha!" replied Gomamon, swimming back towards the inlet with Takeru in tow.
"Hey!" shouted Yamato, gaining Seadramon's attention before swimming further out into the lake with Gabumon. "Seadramon, over here!"
Petit Fire!
Unfortunately, just like the others attacks, Gabumon's attack didn't faze Seadramon either. Seadramon tosses Gabumon aside with his tail before pulling Yamato under and wrapping his tail around the wolf boy. Taichi, seeing what transpiring, was beginning to lose himself to that power again, with his eyes flashing a dangerous red and his fangs and nails elongating slightly.
"Bad! This is bad!" shouted Tentomon, seeing Yamato being squeezed by Seadramon. "Now Seadramon will never let go until he's squeezed the breath out of him!"
"Onii-chan!" shouted Takeru, scared for his brother before looking at Patamon. "Patamon, please, save my Onii-chan!"
"M-My powers won't work against Seadramon!" said Patamon, staring at Takeru. "But maybe Gabumon…"
"Yamato!" shouted Gabumon, swimming back over from the area he was tossed aside to before looking deep within himself. "I need something… anything! Please, help me save Yamato! I won't be able to listen to Yamato play his harmonica… I won't be able to hear that gentle melody anymore… so please… help me save him… YAMATO!"
Seadramon seeing that Yamato went limp in his hold, tossed him straight at Gabumon. As both Yamato and Gabumon sank further into the lake, Taichi lost it and let that unknown power from before control him. Everyone around Taichi backed away when they saw him succumb to whatever that power was. In a rage, Taichi flew straight at Seadramon before producing the attack from earlier when slicing the boulder, a crimson sparkling whip from his fingertips. Seadramon was viciously slashed by Taichi, with deep bloody gouges all over Seadramon's body. A blast of ice from Seadramon knocks Taichi back toward the others before two wolf like howls are heard and the lake surface reflects the moon surface.
Garuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Gabumon Shinka! Garurumon!
A large blue wolf with tiger like stripes jumps from the water with Yamato on his back, fully conscious and radiating an icy aura. Garurumon sinks his teeth into Seadramon while Yamato slashes at him with his claws. Pushing the two back with a flick of his tail, Seadramon unleashes a heavy stream of ice towards them, freezing them in place. Powering through Seadramon's assault, both Garurumon and Yamato strike back.
Fox Fire!
Kokkan!
While Garurumon's blue fire was able to push Seadramon back, Yamato relentlessly slashes at Seadramon with icy claws, leaving icy patches alongside Taichi's bloody gashes from earlier. Flipping backwards toward the inlet where the others are, Yamato looks at Seadramon with a cold glare before the Digimon starts to sink while Garurumon reverts back to Gabumon. Taichi regains his bearings and grabs Seadramon with his whip like attack before performing a smaller version of Ōsankaku in his other palm and blasting Seadramon straight in the head with it, leaving the Digimon to die in front of everyone.
"Taichi!" shouted Sora, staring at her childhood friend. "What have you done?"
Staring at everyone below him, the unknown power coursing through Taichi starts to dissipate and he starts to fall towards the ground. Running towards Taichi, Yamato leaps straight to Taichi and grabs him before descending down to the ground gracefully. The other children and Digimon run towards them and stop when they see that Yamato has his handover Taichi's forehead, a concerned look on his face
"What's going on?" shouted Jō, gripping at his hair. "Are all of us going to lose yourselves the longer we stay like this?"
"I'm okay," said Yamato, moving his hand from Taichi's forehead to his own. "I was in complete control. It was a power rush but I could handle it."
"It doesn't look like Taichi can," said Mimi, staring at Taichi, seeing that there was ice from Seadramon's attack on him. "Maybe it's too strong."
"Well, in any case, let's get off this inlet and on shore," said Yamato, lifting Taichi up with Jō's help. "Taichi's running a fever like last time."
"We'll have to prevent him from tapping into that power somehow," said Kōshirō, staring at Taichi. "But how…? Anyway, how do we get back to the shore?"
"Leave that to me!" said Gomamon, summoning the fish from his attack to push the inlet back to the shore. "There, much better."
"I'll take over watch," said Yamato, laying Taichi down on his side near a tree. "Everyone could use some sleep right about now and I'm still running on a little bit of that power."
"You sure?" asked Agumon, walking over to Taichi. "Will Taichi be okay?"
"He seemed fine after he rested the first time it happened," said Sora, staring at Taichi. "We should keep watch on Taichi in case rest doesn't work this time."
"Agreed," said Kōshirō, before yawning. "Let's get whatever sleep we can get."
"I'll wake you when I can't handle anymore," said Yamato, with Takeru leaning against him.
Pulling out his harmonica, Yamato begins to play the melody from earlier. Everyone starts to fall asleep to the soothing tune. Taichi was back in the place when he fell unconscious last time, floating in a sea of red, his eyes glazed over. Residual energy from Taichi was forming into a creature on the inlet before flying away unnoticed. Unbeknownst to everyone, a Digimon was watching everything unfold since the battle with Seadramon. Staring at each child, their eyes roam straight to Taichi, eyeing the boy with glee.
"Our world just got more interesting," said the mysterious Digimon, eyes still on Taichi, a light chuckle forming. "I look forward to playing with you."
