Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Horde of Horrors. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own She-Ra, Mattel and a few others do.
(Fright Zone)
Brennus leaped away from Catra as she launched another kick that almost connected with his head. He slashed at her and tried to force her backward as he started to slowly advance towards her. She flipped into another kick and threw herself at him which he blocked with his blade. She kickflipped off his chest and launched herself backward at the same time. He stopped his fall with his blade and pushed himself to his feet
He raised an eyebrow as she climbed the wall and seemed to throw herself at him. He half stepped backward before he held his hand towards her which sent her to the ground as she collided with it.
"You are fast, that one almost landed on me," Brennus stated while he rolled his eyes at her.
"How are you that fast?" Catra asked before she flipped to her feet.
"Training," Brennus responded before he slowly stepped towards her. "Why? You are still faster than me in combat." Brennus said while he offered his hand to help her from the ground as he did so.
Not fast enough." Catra stated while she raised an eyebrow at her friend. "Ow," Catra said to which he seemed to chortle in laughter.
"I feel something is going on that I'm not understanding," Brennus stated before he hummed and sighed to himself. "I'm also not stupid. I'm well aware something is bothering you." Brennus added with a roll of his eyes as he did so.
He simply shook his head as he did. This battle was entirely too much fun for him to abandon so easily. Catra and he circled each other as she popped her claws from her fingers and he raised his sword. Their battle wasn't close to done yet and it made him interested in how it'd go.
"All commanders to the briefing room!" An announcement was stated before both of them started to glance at each other. "Repeat. All command staff to the briefing room for new assignments." They heard as both sighed and stepped away from the other with annoyance.
"And the battle was simply starting to become enjoyable."
(Planning Room)
"And how does that aid the military forces around this location?" Brennus questioned with a raised eyebrow as crossed his arms. "The rebels are weakened, not depleted or scattered," Brennus added with his arms leaning on the table.
He started at the others sans Hordak as their plans started to come to life. They wanted more land and it seemed none of them wanted to place any stock in the logistics of this plan. it didn't surprise him that they had leadership that seemed to lack the ability to properly strategize from what little he had known about the others.
One of them appeared as a large ursine-like creature with piercing yellow eyes. Brennus was aware they seemed to not be bright or smart when it came to military plans. He seemed to simply want them to throw their power at the wall without caring for their losses. It was a plan that seemed to baffle all of them since he had rolled his eyes and scoffed at his military ideals which didn't seem to bother him. This was an annoyance like none other at the moment.
"This plan is stupid and without any stratagem," Brennus said before he leaned in his chair. "Why would we do something that lets them retake the city? We need to stop them from regrouping or bringing their full power against the Horde. The second we stop? They will come back and rip the Horde apart." Brennus said before Catra kicked her feet up on the table.
The 5 officers all shared looks at one another. This meeting had been abrupt, it hadn't allowed them a lot of time to brainstorm, and the 2 other officers of the Horde were absent.
"It's better than your stupid plan," Grizzlor stated as the Horde Captain rolled his eyes.
"I planned to draw them into the open. I and Catra know their rebels and any rebel wouldn't stay in the open. It isn't their style to do so and with a few of them here?" Brennus questioned with annoyance. "They WILL come for their friends. The best way to handle that is to face them on terms we set rather than their own." Brennus said before he sighed to himself.
"Also? What have YOU done, fang face?" Catra asked with a raised eyebrow herself. "There's plenty of things we did. Didn't hear what you added to the battles. Me and Bren here conquered 2 cities… TWO." Catra said to which Brennus rolled his eyes.
"One of them had no defenders besides the Princesses. It was not a military engagement. Simply a brawl." Brennus stated and closed his eyes. "Secondly? How does that relate to this at all? There are dozens of soldiers in the Horde. All of them seem to be rather interested in how to handle these topics." Brennus stated while he folded his hands across his chest with interest in how to do this.
The next plan needed to be entirely perfect if they were to do any real lasting damage. It had been rather interesting in how best to handle the rebels.
"I'm starting to see why little is done in the command tier," Brennus said before he slowly started to lean in his chair as he prepared. "What else does anyone want to bring to the table?" Brennus questioned while he sighed and crossed his arms.
This tactic wasn't to be wasted on the rest of his teammates from what little they saw of his friends. He was rather interested in what to do next as their plans seemed to be all different. They all wished to smash the enemies before they were able to respond to their power.
It might be more effective if the princesses weren't at all ready for them. They'd be throwing dozens of soldiers into a meat grinder which didn't at all help.
"Just cause your new doesn't mean you can come in and own the place!" Grizzlor said to which the prince glanced at her.
"No. It does mean I can see what happened from the outside and point out there is almost no way this works." Brennus said while he stared at Grizzlor. "Where I was born? We didn't throw soldiers away simply to win. Many people died, yes, yet their deaths were them wishing to die. How does throwing soldiers at the rebels magically defeat them?" Brennus questioned to which the man growled.
"Where did you find this guy, Catra?" Octavia questioned as both she and Brennus turned their attention to her. "He acts a lot as if he's not from Etheria," Octavia said while Brennus and Catra shared a glance.
"I'm not," Brennus stated while he reclined in the chair. "I'm from Voruta. Anyway. We need to stop the rebels from another attack. The more we damage their ability to face the Horde in combat? The more we will gain." Brennus said while Catra rolled her eyes.
"Plus, without Adora and her stupid sword? They weren't winning the war." Catra said while she leaned on the table. "We need to get rid of her. Besides, this isn't about muscle. That's just stupid." Catra said to which she raised her eyebrows into the sky.
"Where is Lord Hordak?" Brennus questioned while he turned towards Catra. "If this is a war meeting? Why isn't the commander here to bring his input into this meeting? All we're doing is throwing ideas into a hat and waiting for his input. There's no real logic there either." Brennus said before Catra rolled her eyes.
"In his lab. He doesn't come out and simply lets the others handle business." Octavia said before Brennus huffed as he did this.
"That explains why Grizzlor's incompetence isn't noticed at all," Brennus stated before he prepared what to do next. "There's a lot to do when it comes down to it. We need to be ready for when they come down to it." Brennus stated as he rolled his eyes to himself.
Catra raised an eyebrow at the fact there was little to do when it come down to it. Catra hummed at her friend and her partner before she seemed there was too much on her plate when it came down to it. They had been at war far too much when she considered it.
The woman glanced at him as the Vorutian seemed to notice her attention. The two Horde Officers seemed as if they had been agreeing on something.
"We need to handle the princesses and then their fall," Brennus stated before he turned to Catra with a raised eyebrow. "I and Catra had done more damage to the princesses than it seems the rest of the officer corps had been," Brennus added as he seemed to ponder what to do next.
Still? Both of them were well aware of what to do next. They were still annoyed by the fact that Hordak hadn't seemed at all concerned with this and had seemed to ghost them. How was there to be any real strategy done if there was no commander to see which tactics had honestly proven to be effective?
Nonetheless? It had seemed as if they had little on their plates at the moment. She had a lot to handle as of now. He hummed to himself before slowly starting to sit in his chair as he did so.
"Is there anything we missed at the moment before we are done here? I feel as if we had been done here and we need to escape." Brennus stated before he slowly started to climb to his feet as he did so. "And by that? I mean we need to be onto the next battle. The more time we stay here is more time they prepare for combat." Brennus added before he rolled his eyes to himself and seemed to brush to himself.
He was honestly curious as of the second. He was honestly curious as of the time before he clicked to himself as of the second. He was going to be honestly curious as of the second before as of the time.
They had been interested in this; they had pushed for it more than anything. The fact of the matter was that they had already gotten what they'd want from this. It'd be a lot more interesting if it wasn't for their ideals distracting and blinding them.
Still? If such an idea was easy to come back to? It'd be a harder pill to swallow. This wasn't key to end anytime soon. No, that ideal would be saved for another date, one which they'd become accustomed to.
Brennus glanced at Catra as he tried to read the woman. There were no signs of weakness, no sign that she had backed down from this at all. It made him curious more than anything as to what the hell was going on if she was this good. Anyone who had this type of control over their own emotions and state was a powerful enemy… And a skilled warriors who commanded respect from anyone around them. They had to be on top of their game.
He would roll his eyes if he didn't find this to be more amusing than anything. It'd be a lot more interesting if it came down to it.
