Chapter 16

Toboe began to explain to his alpha why his mate had no recollection of him. The pup seemed to believe that after the fight with Zeal and his pack, Kiba seemed to wake up with no memories of him, Tsume, or Knight. But after some convincing Toboe was able to get Kiba to remember him. Although for some reason the memories of Tsume were the hardest ones to bring back. The young wolf tried to make him remember but Kiba still had a block when it came to his mate.

"So what your telling me, is that Kiba has absolutely no memory of me. And that the fight with those miserable punks was the cause of it?"

Toboe nodded as he watched his alpha as he looked to the white wolf next to him. Tsume shook his head, he would not accept that. He needed to get Kiba to remember him no matter what. But what could he do? The gray wolf really had no idea on how to even start.

"I'm sorry Tsume I really am I tried to get him to remember but it just didn't work."

The alpha locked eyes with his mate as he kept watching him. Kiba tilted his head to the side and smiled at the gray wolf. Tsume nuzzled the white wolf's shoulder and licked his muzzle. He then rose to his feet and began to trot down the hill. Toboe shot to his feet as he tried to follow after his alpha.

"Tsume where are you going? Is something wrong? I can help if y-

"SHUT UP RUNT! I am going to look for a way to get Kiba's memories back now stay here and watch over him. If you fail me you won't like the outcome."

Toboe sank to his stomach and whimpered as Tsume glared at him again. The gray wolf looked at his mate again and saw the same confused look on his face as before. With a deep sigh he turned and ran out of the valley and into the woods. Toboe watched his alpha leave and went back to lay next to Kiba. The white wolf smiled at the pup and nuzzled his shoulder.

"Toboe where did that wolf go?"

"He left to try to figure out how to get your memories back."

"Is he coming back?"

Toboe looked at his friend. He shrugged his shoulders, and rested his head on his paws. Kiba frowned at the way the pup was acting. Did he say something wrong? He whimpered and tried to get Toboe to answer him.

"Toboe...

"I don't know Kiba I really truly don't know."

Toboe said as he turned his face away from the white wolf and whimpered softly.

Knight arrived back at Heigue's territory. He was still mad at Tsume for making him leave. The young wolf just wanted to help but the alpha wanted nothing to do with him. He wasn't even able to say goodbye to Toboe. Knight then sighed and shook his head.

"Toboe...I'm sorry..."

Knight said to himself as he entered the valley of his pack's den. He trotted up to the den and noticed the pack seemed very busy. None of the wolves even noticed the black wolf's presence. He looked around and saw everyone was running around doing things, but what things he had no clue. So he found one of his friends and asked what was going on.

"Hey Koda, what is going on?"

A large silver/black wolf lifted his head and looked at the black wolf in front of him. His eyes went wide and he pounced on top of the young wolf. Knight landed on his back with a painful grunt and shook his head. He looked at his friend and tried to get up, but he just couldn't move a muscle. So with a deep sigh he spoke as Koda made himself comfortable.

"Koda what is going on around here? Everyone seems to be in a hurry for some reason. Did something happen while I was away?"

"Yea it looks like Blue will be having her pups soon, so everyone is getting preparations done."

Knight's eyes went wide as he remembered about Blue and the new pups. He completely forgot about it. The young wolf was suddenly overcome with disappointment as he realized he should have been here, instead of being with a different pack. So with some effort he crawled out from underneath Koda and thanked him.

"Thanks Koda I'm gonna go have a talk with Hiegue."

Koda smiled at his friend and went back to what he was doing. Knight trotted up to the entrance to the alpha's den and looked around. He saw no one inside so, he turned back and went down into the valley to try to find Hiegue or Blue. As the young wolf looked around for his leaders he started to feel like he was being watched. He stopped in his tracks and glanced around, seeing no one he shrugged his shoulders and continued on his search.

"I wonder where Hiegue and Blue went?"

The black wolf said to himself as he continued his search. As he walked around the same feeling from earlier returned. Knight suddenly turned around and bumped into another wolf that left out a yelp of surprise. The black wolf growled at the wolf until he recognized him. He sighed and sat down, watching the young wolf in front of him.

"Tsuki...what are you doing?"

The white wolf chuckled as he rose to his feet and locked eyes with the black wolf. Knight and rose to his feet and turned to leave. Tsuki saw this and with a quick jump he landed in front of his friend. Knight stopped suddenly and backed up a bit. Tsuki smiled as he sat down and began wagging his tail.

"Knight were were you? I saw you leave a couple of days ago, so what made you leave? You do realize it's against the rules to leave the territory without permission. So where were you?"

"I...I left to help Hiegue's friends they were in trouble. I didn't have time to tell anyone anything so I just left."

"Then why did it take you so long to get back then?"

"Two of them we're injured so I help them get to their den. Are you done asking 20 questions now?"

Knight said as he tried to walk around the wolf. The white wolf moved in front of the black wolf once more and sat down. With a growl Knight sat down again waiting for the next round of questions. Tsuki smirked as he saw the uncomfortable state the wolf was in. So without another word the young wolf leaned up and licked the black wolf on the cheek.

"Tsu- Tsuki what the hell was that? What is wrong with you?"

Said wolf laughed as he enjoyed seeing Knight being embarrassed. The black wolf shook his head and growled at the smaller wolf. He took a menacing step forward, while the other wolf continued to laugh. After a few minutes Tsuki calmed down and looked Knight in the eyes. The wolf then began to rub against Knight and whimper happily.

Knight pushed away and stood back. What in the world is wrong with him? Why is he acting like this? But before he could figure this out he heard a howl rise over the valley. The whole pack stopped and listened to the howl.

"Looks like Hiegue and Blue have returned."

Tsuki said as he nuzzled against Knight. The black wolf glared at the wolf and moved away from him again. The young wolf smiled at him and returned his attention to the two wolves entering the valley. Hiegue and Blue walked into their territory and smiled at the pack. They continued their way up to their den, and were greeted by some of their pack members.

Once the greetings were done the alpha's went into their den. Blue went in first but when she didn't see her mate following she turned to see him looking at something. She approached him and looked to see what caught her mate's attention. She gasped and was going to say something but Hiegue beat her to it.

"Blue go inside I want to have a talk with him myself."

"Hiegue...

"Blue...please just go inside I will be in after I finish with him."

Blue watched her mate and saw and heard the seriousness in his voice and on his face. So with a sigh she nuzzled him and let him go. Hiegue nuzzled her back and watched her enter the den. Her condition was coming along great, but he didn't want her to have anymore stress. So with that last thought he walked down into the valley again and headed straight for the wolf he spotted.

"Knight...I need to speak with you now. Follow me."

Without another word Hiegue walked past the black wolf and continued on his way. Knight gulped and rose to his feet and followed his alpha. Tsuki watched him leave and wondered what they needed to talk about.

Tsume traveled for a while before he decided to take rest. He really didn't want to, but his energy was fading fast. So with a deep sigh he found a place to rest. The gray wolf wanted and needed to find a way to get Kiba's memories back but he still couldn't figure out how to even start. He laid down under a tree and thought about how to fix his mate.

"Kiba...I promise to figure this out. I will not stop until I can fix your memories."

Tsume said as he watched the sun go down. As night fell he decided to do some quick hunting and then sleep. So he rose to his feet and began to find something to eat. He soon arrived at an open area, and could smell animals close by. The gray wolf decided that this place would do so he took his position and waited for some prey to arrive. After about ten minutes his nose picked up something.

He moved slowly toward the smell and tried to figure out what his meal would be. When his eyes locked onto a figure a few feet away he took his hunting stance. As seconds passed he crouched and snuck closer. Once he was close enough he took off like a shot, and caught his prey. His jaws closed around a rabbit's neck and with a quick snap the animal went limp in his mouth.

The alpha carried his kill back to the tree he laid under earlier. He laid down with a satisfied sigh and ate his meal. Once finished he licked his muzzle clean of blood, then went in search of a source of water. He lifted his muzzle and sniffed the air, once the smell of water hit his nose, he opened his eyes and followed the scent. Soon he came across a river and decided to take a couple of drinks.

When he finished his drink he lifted his head and looked around. He saw that the area he was in was very peaceful. The alpha knew that Kiba would love it here. A sudden movement caught the wolf's attention. He locked eyes with a fawn who seemed to be lost from its heard.

The deer stopped in its tracks when it realized it ran into a major predator. Its eyes grew wide and began to slowly back away. Seeing the slowly retreating deer, Tsume smirked and took his hunting stance. The two began a stand-off that seemed to last forever, but it all ended when the deer's back foot landed on a branch braking it. Tsume was off like a shot, the deer turning on its heal and ran as fast as his legs could carry him.

It was a race to see which one would tire first. But for how old the fawn was, Tsume knew the animal wouldn't last long. They ran for a few miles until they came upon another clearing. The alpha seeing this as his opportunity, gave off another burst of speed, and got closer to the fawn. Once he was close enough, he went to snap around the animals leg, but when the deer made a sharp turn, the gray wolf wasn't ready for it.

Tusme hit a tree trunk and flew over it and landed with a yelp. The alpha lifted his head, shook it and watched the deer run off in the other direction and out of sight. Tsume growled at himself, he couldn't believe that happened. Good thing he was by himself, because he would be the laughing stock of his pack if Toboe or Kiba saw his wonderful display of skills. With a deep sigh the alpha went to get on his feet but a sharp pain made his yelp and fall to the ground.

The gray wolf tried once more but had the same result. Growling he looked down to see his ankle stuck in something. He couldn't tell what it was so he took his free foot and moved some dirt and leaves out-of-the-way. Once that was done he saw that the thing his ankle was stuck in was a bear trap. Seems some humans were using this area as a hunting area, and he just happened to get stuck in one of their stupid traps.

"Oh great now what?"

Tsume said to himself as he tried to get out of the trap. But every time he moved the teeth from the trap dug into his ankle. He yelped, sat back down, and began to lick the blood oozing from his wound. After a few minutes passed Tsume heard foot falls heading his direction. He growled deep in his throat as a figure appeared from behind a tree.

The figure saw Tsume and slowly started to approach him. Tsume's growl got loader and louder as the figure got closer. Once close enough the alpha noticed the figure was a human, but not a hunter. Still he growled as the person took a few more steps and stopped next to the trap. Tsume went to snap at the human but when he moved his wound got worse and he yelped.

"Its okay...I won't hurt you...I'm gonna try and help you okay boy?"

Tsume growled all the while, but let the human do his task. The man kneeled down and moved the rest of the leaves away. He soon found the chain and pulled it out of the ground. Once that was done he went to move the trap but moved it to fast. Tsume yelped and tried to bite the human, but he moved away before he could close his jaws around any body part.

"Sorry boy I didn't mean to. Here let me just get this open okay?"

The human placed both hands on either side of the trap, and as gentle as possible pulled the two sides apart and down. Tsume gave a yelp when the teeth were retracted from his ankle. The human pulled a little more and soon the teeth were out and off of the wolf. Tsume tried to get up and away from the human, but he just fell back to the ground. He whimpered and started to lick his ankle to try and clean it.

"I can clean that for you if you let me."

Tsume glared at the human, but continued to clean his wound. The human was going to come closer, but voices filled the air and both Tsume and the human froze in place. The human looked behind him and saw a group of men with weapons were heading their way. He looked at the wolf and back to the men. He gulped and decided to do the most dangerous and stupid idea he ever thought of.

"Okay boy...I'm gonna take you with me. I can heal you at my place. So please let me help you. I'm gonna have to carry you so...please don't bite me okay."

Tsume listened to the men coming closer and locked eyes with the human who was trying to come closer. What should he do? He needed to get out of here. But with his ankle in the shape that it's in, he knew he wouldn't get far. So with a deep sigh and grunt he just laid down on his side.

The human saw this, and was surprised. But he didn't have time to enjoy it. As the group of hunters were almost on top of them. So with his mind made up, the human hurried over, kneeled down, placed his arms under the wolf, and raised him up and over his head. Tsume yipped in surprise as he was raised from the ground and he ended up laying on the man's shoulders. The man put his hands on the wolf's shoulders and hips to keep him from moving, then with one last look at the hunters he and Tsume took off in the direction of the man's home.

Toboe and Kiba were inside the den as night fell and both were very tired. So they both decided to get some sleep. Toboe laid down near the entrance while Kiba went further inside. The pup realized the white wolf's leg was hurt but at least he was able to walk around, even though it is just a limp. The pup smiled at his friend and laid his head down on his paws and went to sleep.

"Goodnight Toboe."

"Night Kiba"

Kiba laid down and rested his head on his paws. He looked out of the den and saw the bright stars and moon. He wondered if that gray wolf from earlier was ever going to come back. The white wolf really hoped he was okay. With that last thought the wolf sighed and closed his eyes.

Both wolves were asleep. But a certain wolf was having a little trouble staying asleep. He seemed to be having a nightmare or something. It was so bad that he snapped his eyes opened and looked around painting heavily. He tried to find something or someone but he didn't see anything.

"Tsume...
