Thanks to x snow- pony x for reviewing.

I don't know if there's still anyone out there reading this story- but I'm kind of sad when seeing at the beginning of this story there were like five reviews a chapter and now one if even that. Anyway. Some better news.

There is this school I've applied to three years in a row. And some time ago I found out I got in finally. I don't know how much time I'll have for writing after starting it at the end of August. But I'm still hoping I can get through the rest of my stories- especially this story. There's this story and then a oneshot left of the series I started when I was new here…

I'm sorry for not updating. I am going through the worst writer's block. So everything I can really do is to force myself to write and hope it goes away.

"Someone call for an ambulance."

I ran to the front yard and seeing two kids- one with straight blonde hair and the other one with dark, curly laid on the ground. One was still and one was screaming bloody murder, one was crying but the other one was just as still. One was Tracie and the other one Jim.

"What happened Luce?"

"They climbed up the tree waiting for their parents. NO." I kneeled by Jim who had landed on his back and was knocked unconscious. "Don't touch him. If he's hurt his neck him moving will only make it worse. George? Have you got your phone?"

George did have his phone and was already calling for an ambulance, both the staff and the kids of the dumping ground were gathered and things weren't made better when two cars pulled over in the driveway and two very nervous couples stepped out of their cars.

There was one couple, probably Jim's parents, the woman with thick, dark hair and the man's curly like his son's. And then two blonde that must be the twins' parents. All with worried expressions and so too the children who had came running to see what was going on.

I turned away from them and to Luce that had kneeled by Tracie who was still screaming bloody murder.

She also kept doing so when we heard sirens of two ambulances, starting far away but coming closer and closer.

"It's okay now Tracie." Ella whimpered where she sat and stroke her twin sister's hair. "You'll get help and they'll take the pain away…" She glared upwards on her parents. It all got too much for her and she flew onto her feet and straight into Emily's arms.

The thought passed me by that Emily looked just as afraid and worried as everyone else here. That she had once seen her sister get hurt. But I couldn't think more than a couple of seconds before I turned back to Tracy whose arms was in a straight position.

"Emma." Mike caught my attention when sirens started getting heard from far away. "You go with Tracie in the ambulance, I'll go with Jim and Ella…" He turned more softly to Tracie's twin sister. "If you want to come to the hospital with your sister too then you'll have to come later- But then, Luce will you take her? I will call once we know more." Mike looked towards the direction where we heard the sirens from. "Come on. Come on."

His half- suppressed voice was covered again when Tracie started screaming again. For just a few seconds she had stopped, hyperventilated and sobbed, and just in time for the ambulances to come up on the driveway she started screaming again.

Whoever thought time was always going by at the same pace must be wrong. Because the nearest hour was the longest and the shortest of my life so far. With going in with Tracie in the ambulance seeing Ella still wanting to come with us. With rushing to the hospital, with going straight to the x-ray. With needles and painkillers and doctors and a sling and screaming. All of that screaming.

I wasn't even sure when I learnt the twins' parent's names were Ellis and Patrick. I didn't care anyway. I didn't know when Jim had been taken in one direction with his parents and I and Mike in the other with Tracie until we both stood with a doctor who had put up x-ray pictures of Tracie's arm on a light board and pointed with his pen what we could see.

Ouch!

"Have I gotten this right?" Mike leaned back against a cupboard that stood behind him. "Her shoulder was dislocated, but that's fixed now." The doctor nodded. "Then there's one fracture on her upper arm right by the shoulder… And then her wrist and two fingers… How on earth did that happen?"

"She probably landed right on her arm bent and the highest and the lowest point took the blow." Mike rubbed his forehead and I felt a grimace forming on my face. "No wonder she was in pain! Now, fractures this high on the arm can seldom be put a cast on. And as you can see the arm is pointing in a direction it certainly shouldn't. She needs surgery. But we want to be sure she hasn't eaten anything in the last few hours. Because if she has she might throw up from the narcosis. And we don't want to preform a such long and big surgery on a kid being awake. We can give her all we've got against the pain though. And we will. So she won't be in any pain and she will actually barely be awake anyway."

The doctor stopped talking, the words he had spoken had felt like Latin. But I did know that through the hallway came Luce holding Ella's hand and they probably shouldn't be here.

"I'm sorry." Luce said to Mike. "I just couldn't… I have to go back. Can Ella stay with you?"

"Of course." Mike lifted Ella up onto his hip and she sobbed into his shirt. "That was scary wasn't it Els. Well, we now know that much that Tracie's arm is broken- but it will heal and then she'll be just fine in no time. Okay?" Ella nodded. "That's my girl. Do you want to go and see her?" She nodded again. "Emma? Can you go into the waiting room? The… parents should be waiting there. You don't have to say anything, I'll be right there."

Wait… I was supposed to spend time alone in the room with the parents who had left their two daughters?

There was one young couple, possibly only my age, probably Tracie and Ella's parents because they were both blonde like their two daughters. For just a second I tried to remember their names before I realized I couldn't and turned away and sunk down on one of the waiting room's chairs.

Mike! I needed Mike. Or anyone here who would take this better than me.

And as he could have heard me thinking he came hurrying into the waiting room, his green eyes shining with stress and worry and wiping his sweaty head with one hand.

"Mr. And Mrs. Spencer, you must be."

Mike, who usually had a nice and polite tone towards anyone, even parents who had done wrong sounded dry and rude when he turned to Tracie and Ella's parents. And Mrs. Spencer, who seemed tiny where she sat with her feet pulled up on the plastic chair and her husband's arm around her seemed even tinier as she nodded slightly.

She looked so afraid as if Mike was about to turn into a monster who would jump right on her. And Mike must have seen the same because he sighed, stroke his palm over his face in distress and sat on the chair a couple of chairs away from them.

"I just want to know… I don't think I could understand but… leaving two babies on the porch steps like you did… what on earth were you thinking? What if they'd been hurt? What if they'd been kidnapped?"

Mike was being harsh on them I knew, tears were streaming down Ellis's cheeks. But she also deserved this- and more!

"Someone could have fallen right over them if Shawn hadn't been the first one out the door and seen them before they had the time. They were only a few days old by that time- even if Ivy, the youngest resident had fallen over them it could and probably would at least hurt them- badly. And that is if they had been lucky."

Mike was talking quickly and more and more angrily by the word…

He had met parents who hadn't treated children well loads of times. But this was something else. And we were probably lucky a nurse came into the room when a nurse came into the room and faced me and Mike.

"Tracie's asking for you two."

We both glared at the couple in front of us, Ellis now crying worse and Patrick with tears in his eyes trying to keep strong for his wife.

If they only knew…

I and Mike followed the nurse and into a hospital room where Tracie laid alone on the one bunk and looked up on us while the nurse was the first one to go over to her and laid a hand on the head of Ella who sat next to her sister's bed.

"Hey Sweetie. Can you tell me how you're feeling?" Tracie just gave a very slight nod. "Does it hurt anywhere?" She shook her head. "That's good honey. We will only wait for a bit now, so you just have to lay back and relax. And then soon, I and another nurse are going to push this bed- a bed on wheels, isn't that cool? And we'll go into another room where you will get a huge, uncomfortable mask over your face. And then that mask will make you fall asleep. And when you wake up you'll be somewhere else. And Emma here will be right with you, and your whole arm will be in a cast. That's cool huh?"

Tracie hesitated, she barely seemed awake and on her side stood Ella and held her hand. Ella looking way more in pain and worried than Tracie herself.

"Will I have to have it during Christmas?"

I counted the days, with being at the dumping ground and everything I had just forgotten everything. And now Christmas Eve was only three and a half weeks away- barely.

"Unfortunately, yes."

"I can't like…. Take it off? And then take it on again after Christmas?"

"I'm sorry sweetie." The nurse stroke Tracie's cheek and Tracie glared up on her. "That's not the way a broken arm works."

Tracie turned her head away from the nurse. She'd been screaming before but not until now she had started crying. And it seemed so unlike Tracie when she sobbed almost quietly. Telling us all about how unlike herself everything going on made her.

Ella stroke the tears from her twin sister's cheeks and then kissed her hand tenderly. Then she looked up at Mike.

"Come on Em." Mike came from where he had been standing. "These two want to be alone for just a moment…" He gently pushed me towards the door and out into the waiting room where Mr. And Mrs. Spencer still waited, I couldn't help but glare at them and I felt Mike doing the same.

Despite that he had to keep professional no matter how hard it was when he sat down next to them and told them shortly about what was going on.

"And nowadays…" He ended up. "…it just matters that they were left alone at the very moment they were born. Because when it gets hard, they just want each other. And it doesn't matter how bad it hurts or how bad they feel. If it gets bad they want one of us, Ella wants Emma and Tracie wants Luce- if it gets worse then they only want each other…"

"Their names are Tracie and Ella?"

At last Mrs. Spencer- Ellis asked that one question. The one they should know more over anything else…

"Yes." Mike answered and sat down by me facing the two. "When they came to the dumping ground people couldn't agree of what names they should have. At last, we all wrote our favorite names on a small piece of paper and put it in a bowl. First once for the first names. Then once again for the middle names."

"Who came up with those names?" I couldn't help but wonder. "I'm guessing a certain Beaker gave you some…" Mike nodded.

"Tracie was mine because I wanted one named after Tracy Beaker. And a girl named Tee thought the middle name should be Mike's name. Ella was a name that a little girl named Ivy liked, and Luce liked Sophia because that's his little sister's name. And then we wondered about what could be a suiting last name and we chose Heart as their last name because we were so sure we would end up growing up having hearts of gold. And weren't we right?"

Neither Ellis nor Patrick said anything at first…

"Can we…" Suddenly Ellis spoke after we had only thought she wouldn't. "I have to be honest… We only wanted to come so we could see what they are like now and we never thought something like this would happen. And I think… I think it would be for the best, mostly for them if we left… But can we meet them… can we just… say hi?"

I and Mike looked to each other, he was bright red in the face and it wouldn't have surprised me if it had started smoking out of his ears.

But there was that thing about professional and if the twins weren't at risk of getting (more) hurt…

"Certainly… Let me just tell them first." We all stood up and Mike walked through the open door first, I heard him talking to the girls but not the words and then he came back. "Come in."

Ellis and Patrick stepped inside- Patrick's arm around Ellis's shoulders and their two daughters glaring at them. The tension in the room so thick it could have been cut through.

I would have expected Tracie's voice and words to be slurring and that she would barely be awake. She hadn't been before but somehow she was now…

"My name is Tracie Mikayla Heart and I hate your guts!"

I don't know if Tracie's injuries made any sense but I tried to make research and everything- ouch!

Random fact

Ellis is portrayed by Bridgit Mendler, Patrick by Jason Dolley and the twins by Mia Talerico. These three plus Bradley Steven Perry and (in later seasons) Logan Moreau played the siblings (Teddy, P. J. Charlie, Gabe and Toby) in good luck Charlie.
