Yugioh: Collision

Chapter 2: New Dueling Technology

Judai and Johan had arrived in front of a giant building with a picture of a metallic dragon just above the entrance.

"Well, Johan, here we are," Judai announced. "Sho said he's gonna meet us out here."

"I bet Sho will be happy to see us, huh, Judai," Johan spoke.

Judai chuckled, "Oh, I'll bet he will be."

Judai was very much looking forward to seeing his best friend again. A few weeks after he graduated from Duel Accademia, he and Johan decided to start traveling together. As happy as he was to be traveling the world with one of his other close friends, Judai really missed all the other friends he made during his years in Duel Accademia. The two people he missed most of all were his best friend, Sho Marufuji and another one of his close friends, Asuka Tenjoin. Judai hoped he would be able to see her again soon.

"So, Judai, you know who you're dueling?" Johan asked.

"Well, Sho told me it was a surprise," Judai responded. "Not much else."

"Wow, Sho must have a really tough opponent for you if he wants to make it a surprise," Johan commented.

"Yeah, I can't wait to see who it is, either," Judai said, looking eager.

Suddenly, a new voice was heard.

"Hey, Judai! Johan!" Judai and Johan looked to see a younger looking boy wearing glasses and with hair that stuck out on both ends run toward them.

"Hey, Sho, buddy! How have you been?" Judai greeted his best friend with a wave.

"I've been doing great, Big Bro," Sho as he and Judai high fived each other.

"Hey, good to see you, Sho," Johan greeted as Sho high fived him next.

"I'm glad both of you could make it," Sho said. "The entire arena has been excited to see you duel."

"Yeah, I've been pretty excited too, Sho," Judai replied. "So how's your brother doing? Has he been holding up pretty well?"

"Funny you should ask that," Sho said in a mischievous voice.

"What do you mean?" Judai asked in confusion.

"He made me swear not to tell you this until you got here," Sho admitted. "He wanted it to be a surprise."

"What surprise?" Judai asked, sounding really confused.

"Oh, you'll see," Sho said as he motioned for them to follow him in.

Judai and Johan looked at each other and shrugged before following Sho into the building. Sho brought Judai and Johan into the arena.

"Well, here they are," Sho spoke to a new person who was waiting for them.

"Well, done, Sho," a familiar voice spoke.

Judai and Johan looked to see an older young man with dark blue hair standing with his back turned to them. He was wearing white clothes, and even with his back turned, Judai and Johan recognized.

"Kaiser?!" they gasped in unison.

Sho's brother, Ryo Marufuji, also known as Kaiser, turned around to face them and gave a pleasant smirk.

"Judai, Johan. It's been a while, you two," Kaiser spoke.

"Yeah, it has," Judai said, who couldn't hide his surprise. He then turned to Sho. "Sho, why didn't you tell me that your brother was all better?"

"He asked me not to tell you until you got here," Sho said. "Like he said, he wanted it to be a surprise."

Judai chuckled, "Well, that's fine, I guess. Anyway, this is great news. How did this happen? Not that I'm complaining."

"Let's just say I found the inner strength to keep going," Kaiser said vaguely.

Judai shrugged, "If you say so."

"So Judai, how have things been for you since you graduated?" Kaiser asked.

"Oh, they've been great," Judai answered. "As I'm sure you've heard, Johan and I have been traveling and competing in tournaments all over the world. Some of them being tag team tournaments."

"Yes, I've heard," Kaiser said. "You two make an impressive team."

"We sure do," Johan spoke.

"Yeah, it reminded me of the time Sho and I tag dueled against the Paradox Brothers," Judai said before turning to Sho. "Remember that, Sho?"

"How could I forget?" Sho said, sounding nervous. "We were going to be expelled if we lost."

"Yeah, that would have been bad," Judai said. "Well, at least it didn't turn out that way."

"No, it did not," Sho agreed. "It was also one of the duels that made me gain my confidence in order to become the duelist I am today."

Judai chuckled, "It sure was."

Kaiser cleared his throat, "Well, then, now that we've met, why don't we give Judai and Johan a tour of the arena building, huh, Sho?"

"Oh, uh, sure," Sho agreed. "Come guys."

Judai and Johan nodded and followed Sho and Kaiser.

Yuma, Kotori and Tetsuo were standing in front of Heartland Tower.

"Are you sure this is where Kaito wanted us to meet him?" Kotori asked impatiently.

"Yes, Kotori, he said to meet him in front of Heartland Tower," Yuma answered.

"What do you suppose his father wants your help with?" Tetsuo asked.

"I have no idea," Yuma answered. "But I'm sure we'll find out soon.

"So you've arrived," Kaito's voice came.

Yuma, Kotori and Tetsuo looked to see Kaito coming out of the entrance of Heartland Tower.

"Kaito!" Yuma said, happy to see his friend and biggest rival.

"Hello, Yuma," Kaito said simply. "Glad you and your friends could make it."

"We sure did," Yuma responded. "How's Haruto?"

"He's doing well, Yuma," Kaito answered. "He was especially excited to see you again."

Yuma chuckled, "I'm sure he was. So what does your father need us to help him test anyway?"

"As I've told you over the phone, he's developed a new type of dueling technology," Kaito answered. "He needs some strong duelists to test it and thought you'd be one of the best candidates to try it out. You'll see what it is soon enough."

"Well, then what are we waiting for?" Yuma said eagerly.

"Not so fast, Yuma," Kaito spoke.

"What's wrong, Kaito?" Yuma asked.

"We still need to wait for someone else," was all Kaito said.

"Who?" Yuma wondered aloud.

"He's talking about me," a voice came from behind.

Yuma turned around and saw two more familiar faces coming their way.

"Shark!" Yuma said happily. "And your sister too!"

It was indeed Ryoga Kamishiro aka Shark, one of Yuma's other close friends and his younger twin sister, Rio.

"Rio," Tetsuo beamed upon seeing her.

Tetsuo had been crushing on Rio ever since she recovered from her duel against IV. And even after Rio dueled and defeated Tetsuo after she became aware of her past life as a Barian, Tetsuo still had that crush.

"Hey, Yuma," Shark said with a smirk. "I see Kaito asked you to come here too."

"Yeah, he did," Yuma said. "But I had no idea he asked you and your sister to come here too."

"Come on, Yuma," Rio groaned. "My name is Rio. Can you please just call me that from now on?"

"Ok! Ok! I know. Your name is Rio!" Yuma said with his hands up. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine," Rio muttered.

"Hi, Rio," Kotori greeted. "How have you been?"

"Me and my brother have been doing just fine," Rio answered. "Considering recent events."

"Well, I'm certainly glad you and Shark are doing well for yourselves, Rio," Tetsuo commented.

Rio smiled, "Thanks, Tetsuo."

This was true. Ever since helping Yuma and his friends with the recent crisis on the Astral World and redeeming themselves following their time as Barians, life for Rio and her brother has been great. She was also happy that Tetsuo was not angry at her for what happened during her time as a Barian.

"Well, now that we're all here," Kaito said, getting everyone's attention. "I suggest we go inside."

The group soon followed Kaito into Heartland tower.

They soon reached Dr. Faker's lab where they soon noticed three people familiar to them.

"We're here," Kaito announced.

One of the three figures in the room, a younger blue haired boy came running up to the group.

"Yuma!" the boy exclaimed.

"Hey, there, Haruto," Yuma greeted happily.

"I'm so happy you could come," Haruto said eagerly.

"Well, I'm glad that your brother asked us to come here," Yuma said.

"And we are certainly glad of it, too, Yuma Tsukumo," a silver haired man said walking up to the group.

"Hey, V," Yuma greeted.

V smiled at the group before turning to Kaito, "You did well bringing everyone here, Kaito."

"Thank you, Chris," Kaito said, calling V by his real name.

"So what exactly does Dr. Faker want us for?" Shark asked impatiently.

"I'm glad you asked," Dr. Faker, who was sitting in the chair, answered. He turned to face the group. "You see, it's like this. I've developed a new type of duel room that will grant us use of augmented reality technology without the use of a D-Gazer."

Yuma was surprised at this, "Wait, you mean that we can actually duel without D-Gazers?"

"That is correct," Dr. Faker answered. "Byron and I, as well as V and his brothers, have been working endlessly to put the finishing touches on what is now our new prototype."

"This new duel room has been outfitted with hologram projectors that will project the augmented reality into the room, granting us the ability to see what's happening in the duel without a D-Gazer," V clarified.

"So we can really see a duel without using D-Gazer?" Kotori said in disbelief.

V nodded, "We call it the ARDR. The Augmented Reality Duel Room."

"That sounds so cool," Yuma exclaimed.

"Ditto," Tetsuo agreed.

"It sure does," Rio admitted.

Shark himself was also impressed with Faker's latest invention.

"Which brings us to why we called you here," V spoke.

"Wait, I have a question," Yuma interjected. "Where are IV and III?"

"And Tron doesn't seem to be here either," Shark noted.

"My brothers and father went out on a training trip," V answered. "Which is why I thought that you and Shark would be the perfect candidates to test our new duel room."

Yuma's eyes widened, "You want us to test it?"

V nodded, "You and Shark."

"Really?" Yuma said, sounding giddy.

Kotori rolled her eyes. Yuma has always been getting really excited about a duel. Even since their youth.

"Of course, Yuma," Haruto said, getting their attention. "My brother will be involved in the test as well."

"The match will be a tag duel, Yuma," V explained. "And since I'll be helping Dr. Faker run the technology, the fourth duelist who will participate in the test will be Rio Kamashiro."

"Me?" Rio exclaimed in disbelief, pointing at herself.

"That sounds great!" Kotori said happily. "You should go for it, Rio."

"She's right, Rio," Tetsuo said to his crush. "You are a really strong duelist. One of the strongest duelists, I know."

Rio chuckled at Tetuo's complement, And after thinking about it for a moment, "Ok, I'll do it."

"Excellent," V said with a smile. "Now it is time to get the test underway."

"But which teams are we going to be on?" Yuma asked.

"We've already come up with groupings," V explained. "Yuma and Shark will be a team, the other team will be Katio and Rio."

The group looked surprised.

"Interesting team choices," Kotori commented.

Yuma looked at Shark, "Just like old times, huh, Shark?"

"Just like old times," Shark agreed.

He remembered the first time he and Yuma had teamed up. It was when he started to actually appreciate Yuma as a friend.

Kaito looked at Rio and smirked, "Think you'll be able to handle teaming up with me?"

Rio smirked, "You bet."

Rio actually didn't mind teaming up with Kaito. She just hoped she would be able to keep up with a duelist of Kaito's caliber. Kaito was also willing to try his best to be a good teammate to Rio in this tag duel. After, he learned from Yuma just how important teamwork can be when he and Yuma dueled III and IV.

"Well, now that everything is decided," Dr. Faker announced. "It's time to show our guests where they will be dueling."

V nodded and turned to the group, "Please follow me."

The duelists in the group participating in the duel complied and followed V, while Tetsuo and Kotori were told to stay in the lap with Dr. Faker.

Kotori was looking forward to seeing her boyfriend duel in this new Augmented Reality Duel Room.
