Chapter XIII: Taking Flight

The Next Day...

Tuesday morning slowly arrived, and like beforehand Lincoln found himself up earlier than he had anticipated. His alarm clock read 5:21 AM this time around, just slightly later than yesterday but still quite early. After prepping for the shower with a clean set of clothes and a fresh towel, he opened the door and spied none other than Lynn talking to Lisa while standing in the hallway in front of the bathroom, which by the sounds of things was currently occupied. The two of them were also carrying their bathroom necessities. His sisters turned around to see their brother emerging out of his room.

"Hey, look who's up at the crack of dawn again!" Lynn said quite happily, much to Lincoln's surprise. In fact she seemed to be in a far better mood than how she was yesterday. Her eyes were no longer dreary and bloodshot, and she carried herself with a sense of invigoration.

"Good morning Lynn. Wow, looks like you're feeling better. How'd you sleep?" Lincoln replied, taking in the sight of a refreshed Lynn.

"Like a queen, bro. I feel like a brand new woman!" She poked a thumb on her chest for good measure with a big grin on her face. "It was just the thing I needed after all the crap I dealt with yesterday! No nightmares, no nothing!"

It put a smile on Lincoln's mouth to see his formerly ornery sister have a complete turnaround for a brighter mood. With what happened yesterday, with how she missed out on a complete sports practice and wound up taking a nap outside in the park, he'd expected her recovery to be a much longer endeavor. But it seemed that all Lynn needed was a good night's rest and she was back to being herself again, prideful and strong as ever.

He could also sense Lynn's reinvigorated self from where he was standing as her superheat produced an air of warmth around her, warm enough for Lincoln to start using his shirt collar to fan out his neck. Lisa took off her glasses and wiped off the fog covering the lenses with her towel.

"I too was inquiring about our older sister's recent sleep deprivation regarding her dilemma yesterday," Lisa spoke, getting the both of their attention, "But it seems such worries have been for naught. Lynn has attained a full eight-hour nights rest, the recommended length for people of her age, and as such her body has benefitted greatly from her slumber." Lisa's eyes suddenly flashed white, letting out a wide beam of light aimed at Lynn. The tomboy and their brother were not expecting Lisa to use her powers this early in the morning, but the little scientist had surprised them, so much so for Lynn as her superheat suddenly cut off and the hallway returned to a normal temperature.

"I can see your that immune cells have rejuvenated themselves, and your body has sufficiently lowered its release of cortisol, a stress hormone released during times of duress. Quite interesting, for your body and my powers too. It seems you have indeed made a full recovery." Lisa said, turning off her powers as quick as she activated them. Lynn took a double look before responding to Lisa.

"Um, thanks?"

Lincoln and his two sisters heard the door to his left swivel open to reveal Lana scrubbing the top of her head with a towel, whistling to herself in a whimsical tune. She spied the three of them standing in front of the bathroom looking at her, and the young mechanic couldn't help but chuckle at what she saw.

"Man, if its one thing I love about my power, its that I can make my own showers." She said, stretching out her back, "Say goodbye to waiting on line! Those days are over."

"Oh that's right, you've got your water powers." Lincoln stated, remembering what Lana was mentioning. Though something did get his immediate attention when his memory recalled that she only controlled water, not spawn it. "Wait, how did you manage to shower yourself? Your room isn't connected to the bathroom."

"And there are no water pipes running underneath the foundations of your slumber area. I'd know, I've checked the blueprints of the house myself." Lisa added on.

"All you need to know is that I used a little bit of creativity, dear brother and sisters." Lana smugly responded. It took a little bit before Lynn found the answer, and it came from a fake blade of kelp dangling from Lana's hair.

"You used your fish bowl, didn't you?"

"Don't you judge me."

Having Lana, Lynn and Lisa awake at this hour made Lincoln have a thought of his own regarding where they were.

"Y'know, if we keep up this morning routine, sooner or later mom and dad are gonna get suspicious." Lincoln said, sounding slightly concerned. Very few of the Loud siblings were early birds, after all. It was mainly just Lori, Lynn and sometimes Lucy who were morning people. This change of pace in their home was bound to get some attention. Lynn however was quick to wave off his uneasiness.

"Over what? Us waking up, having breakfast and getting ready for school in a timely manner for once?" Lynn sarcastically replied and pointed at her brother. "Don't fall into that overthinking cycle, bro. It's bad for your health."

"I dunno," Lana said in her own concerned tone, "The last time Lincoln was cautious about something, we wound up with superpowers."

That seemed to surprise everyone currently awake, including Lana herself. After all, Lincoln had been the one who had initially thought that Lynn was getting a superpower days ago thanks to her inadvertently using her heat powers. Now, with each of them having their unique superpowers, Lincoln's attentiveness was becoming an indicator that their brother just might be on to something. Their shared superstitions about their brother changing fate was nulled when Lisa, being the most rational and scientific sister, decided to give her own input to make sure that they knew it wasn't just cosmic coincidence.

"Those are two completely different circumstances, sister unit." Lisa pushed up her glasses as she spoke. "But our brother's concern is well founded. It normally isn't like the four us, besides Lynn, to be awake at this hour. But I need remind you that these are far from normal times. Right now it seems that we suffer no ailments regarding our new waking hours, and I do believe that our parental units will accept this change for the better, as Lynn stated before we will now be able to utilize more time for our morning routines."

"See? Nothing to be concerned about, Lincoln." Lynn put her arm around Lincoln's shoulder and gave him a side-hug. She cleared her voice before she spoke again. "You worry too much, bro. Let me ease that brain of your's by formally welcoming you Lincoln Loud to the Early Bird's Club! We're gonna be up at the crack of dawn to get our day on! Kiss those hours of sleeping in goodbye! Whoo!"

"Hoo-ray." Lincoln dully cheered. Seems like Lynn really was back to her normal self.

Lynn's cheerful spout was interrupted by the shower shutting off in the bathroom, and the four siblings currently standing in the hallway stood by as the door opened to reveal the freshly cleaned Lola, her hair and body wrapped up in her bright pink towels. She was humming a song to herself as she stepped out and opened her eyes to see a handful of her siblings standing right in front of her.

"Huh," she said, slightly surprised to see so many faces, "and here I thought I was the only one awake. Shower's free if you want it."

"I call dibs!" Lynn shouted as she pushed Lisa and Lincoln aside, each giving an annoyed shout as their sister made a beeline for the bathroom. Lola barely had enough time to avoid getting rammed by her older sister once the door slammed behind her.

"Well that was rude." Lana crossed her arms. "I kinda liked the tired, sleepy Lynn a little more."

"Oh don't you worry my dear twin of mine," Lola said to her twin with a wave of her hand, "Lynn should start learning to be careful about who takes showers before her right about... now."

"YAAAH! That's frickin' freezing! LOLA!" Lynn's voice shouted from the occupied bathroom while Lola simply looked at her nails, chuckling to herself. She knew that Lynn liked to jump in the shower without bothering to check the temperature. The three other Loud siblings traced their vision to the bathroom door, and then back to Lola who seemed to be reveling in some newfound personal glee. The pageant princess noticed that her sisters and brother were eyeing her before she spoke up again in a smug tone.

"I kinda forgot to mention, I've gotten used to taking cold showers. Probably because of the ice powers I've got." She said as she waltzed over to her room, opened the door and waved to her siblings. "See you later!"

There was a couple moments of silence after Lola closed the door behind her, leaving Lana, Lisa and Lincoln to themselves.

"Well, at least she's getting used to her abilities." Lisa said, finding a silver lining.

...

Once the sun began to crawl higher in the sky, the rest of the Loud siblings steadily began to wake up as well. One by one, each of the Loud siblings had their turn in the bathroom to start the Tuesday morning. Breakfast was eaten quickly as well, their minds all thinking about the same thing; their powers. With their first attempt into the outside world without any sort of power-related troubles a success, they felt like each of them had at least well-enough control over their supernatural abilities to keep them under wraps. Still, they had to be careful, and none of them wanted to be the first sibling to slip up and get them in trouble.

"Alright, everyone in the van!" Lori shouted at the front door, and a stampede of kids following her to the car. After she stepped into the driver's seat she backed out of the driveway and headed straight for the first stop, the elementary school.

As his sisters sat around, some chatting while others keeping to themselves, Lincoln was again busy reading another comic book like he had done yesterday. This time in his hands was a large volume of the Avenger's Civil War, and he was completely engrossed in the colorful pages. So much so that he didn't hear Lynn call his name over and over again until she had to do something to get his attention.

"Lincoln!" She shouted as she reached over his seat and snapped his comic book shut.

"W-What?" He stuttered, completely taken by surprise.

"Are you deaf? Put that book down, dude. Lori was asking you a question." The sole Loud brother looked up to see that they had stopped at a red light, and Lori's eyes were looking right at him through the rear-view mirror. She seemed a little annoyed.

"You listening now, Lincoln? I asked what you were doing later today." Lori said to him.

"Oh," Lincoln plainly said, and then shrugged, "Um, probably not much, Lori. I'm just gonna be hanging out for the day after school."

He suddenly remembered that there was an important event coming up tomorrow.

"Oh, I forgot to mention! My class does have a field trip tomorrow so I guess we're just gonna wait for that."

"Ooh, a field trip? Where you going?" Luan asked, suddenly interested.

"The air museum, over by the airport." Lincoln responded. A handful of his sisters let out some 'oohs' when they heard his answer. It was Luna who connected the dots that not even Lincoln noticed when the strange connection came off the top of her head.

"That's kinda funny little dude, considering your powers. Think about it. You can pretty much be an airplane, Lincoln." Luna said, which made Lincoln smile.

"Hey, you're right!" The white-haired boy exclaimed. He put a finger up to his chin as he thought about what that could mean for someone like him. Planes, such as fighter jets, were capable of incredible speeds. He couldn't help but wonder if maybe he could do the same thing, thanks to his new abilities. It wasn't completely out of the question for him to compare, so it made sense at least in his perspective to imagine how his flight could measure up to man-made machinery.

"Speaking of my powers, I never really thought of how fast I can fly. Maybe I can reach up to sonic speeds, or even supersonic if I really try!" He stood up from his seat and put his arms up like he was really flying around. "In fact, that makes me wonder what all our powers can achieve! If I might be able to outfly a fighter jet, imagine what you guys can do!"

"Your aerodynamic ability does create some interesting clauses, brother unit." Lisa said as she scratched her chin, staring out into the window to see the morning sky. "Perhaps I can join alongside you in attempting to discover what I as well can accomplish with my own gifts."

"Yeah, me too!" Lana shouted. "I wanna know if I can talk to fish!"

"I've written down more spells. Perhaps it would be a good idea to see if they can work." Lucy added on. While nearly all of the siblings began to join in on the occasion, Lori was not having any of it. The eldest Loud sibling took a deep breath before she slammed on the car's horn, effectively shutting up her siblings as they all turned to her. It wasn't the first time that she had used the horn to get them to stop talking.

"Well, none of you are gonna be doing that today, or ever. Remember what we agreed on, we'd never use our powers in the outside world. The powers we have inside our bodies are literally too dangerous to be used willy-nilly, and who knows what else would happen if anyone caught on," Lori sternly said, and then continued with, "While I know there's nothing wrong with trying to figure out what we can do, we all have to remain safe and stay smart. So as the oldest, I say when and where we can use our powers, and that means for all of us. Got it?"

Her siblings in the van shared a look, and then nodded to Lori. As disappointing as it was, they knew Lori had a point. Everyone could see that she was trying to keep them all safe. Well, almost everyone, besides the white-haired boy behind her.

"Did you hear me Lincoln?"

"Yeah yeah, I heard you." Lincoln replied, not bothering to hide the aggravation in his voice as he went right back to reading, hiding his face behind the book. And it wasn't hard to imagine why for the preteen.

Her words had cut straight into him, putting a damper on his cheer like a water hose over a fire. Once she had finished talking the Loud boy visibly slumped back into his seat and opened his comic back to the pages where he'd left off before Lynn interrupted him. Everyone could see how much his mood had changed when Lori shot them down as he buried himself in his book. Gone was his excitement, and replacing it was vexation. After all it was Lincoln who was the most thrilled out of all of them when it came to their powers. This was something right out of his wildest dreams. Some of them, such as Lynn and Luna, sent stern glares to their eldest sister for being so harsh, but she ignored them.

As he continued to read, Lincoln's mind was no longer focused on the story in his hands but rather with his thoughts of himself soaring across the skies of Earth with his powers, flying over over cities, oceans and forests like a jet. He could see it vividly in his own head, but to experience it fully he had to do it himself.

Sorry Lori, but this kid's got to fly sometime, not matter what you say. He internally said to himself as the light turned green and the drive to the schools continued onward. While his sisters started to chatter among themselves again, deep down inside of him Lincoln felt a rebellious spark forming in his chest. Thanks to her overbearing cautiousness about their powers, Lori had unintentionally lit a fire in Lincoln's soul, one that demanded he test his limits out further and discover what he could truly do. And with that in mind, the Man with the Plan began to hatch an idea.

What Lori doesn't know won't hurt her.

Lake Huron

Deep down hundreds of feet beneath the water's surface, hidden from human civilization above, the two occupants of the ship were busy getting set up for their eventual departure from their shuttle to explore the Earth. Preparations for such a venture were key, something that they had learned plenty of times in the past before on other worlds. Advanced weapons, hardy gear, and calibrated equipment were all necessary. Thanks to a planetary chronometer linked to geo-sync orbit, they could see on a holographic display of Earth that their first day here had officially begun.

"Sun's come up." she said as she gazed at the projection in front of her, tinted a deep red. The surrounding darkness of the ship's interior hid both her and her friend's major features other than the glow of their eyes. She turned around, letting out an annoyed huff as she did. "Can we go now? We've been on this ship since the last world we hopped of, and I need to stretch my legs out and catch some rays. Sitting in the dark isn't exactly fun for me."

"Have some degree of patience," her friend responded as he inspected his arm cannon for any faults, "We'll be able to leave as soon as nightfall begins."

"Ugh, fine." She grumbled and lay back down on a reclining seat, staring up at the ceiling of the ship after she kicked her feet up on to a table. Her fellow shipmate retracted his weapon and looked over at the projection, noticing that the expansive development of human civilization. A sudden thought came to him. The seed that had landed on Earth had impacted the planet in an urban environment as the holograph was showing him. He couldn't help but wonder if there was the possibility that there was more than one target infected, and just how radically the seed's cargo had changed them.

This brought to him another idea.

"I'll release the seeker drones in the meantime." He announced, and she gave him a thumbs up as he turned around and headed to the center of the ship. The drones would be quite helpful in scouring the surrounding area for any signs rather than have the two of them flock around the peninsula with no clear indication of where their targets might be.

Once he reached a door at the end of the dimly lit hallway, he turned left towards the releasing mechanism which controlled a series of dome-shaped ports on the outside of the ship's superstructure that were ready for use in times like this. A quick type-in command on the holographic keyboard next to the small viewport window, and the ports opened up and fired a barrage of small, tubular projectiles out into the water. They loosely drifted in the gloom for a moment before they propelled themselves up towards the surface of the lake.

Right as they breached the surface the projectiles split themselves open, revealing that they were hollow, and launched an orb-shaped machine into the air, each about the size of a golf ball and keeping themselves airborne with two pairs of narrow, feathery carbon-alloy wings. At the center of the orb was a hexagon-shaped camera eye, tinted a dark red. Despite the rapid flutter of their wings, the tiny machines were able to attain near complete silence. Their directive clear, the drones followed their programming and took off towards the shores to search for signs of those chosen by the seed.

To the hunter, it was no matter of how far their mutations had gone. They could flee to the ends of their world or fight to the end, but like so many times it happened in the past, they all ended the same way.

...

Pentagon, Washington D.C.

"So we haven't been able to find anything."

"Unfortunately no, sir. We've checked with the NSA, Homeland Security, even our own United States-based dig teams and still we haven't been able to find it. If it wanted to hide itself sir, it's doing a damn good job at it."

With the sudden disappearance of the inbound stellar object last night, the agency of Starwatch had tried everything in their power to attempt to get it back on their scanners but to no avail. Every agent in the building was frantically trying what they could, whether it be calling other agencies and bases around the continent hoping that the answer would come to them.

Meanwhile away from the action, Major Vassallo and Director Woods were discussing the events of last night in the major's office. The two men had very different attitudes. Vassallo looked steamed, and nobody could blame the man. This could have been one of the proudest, most defining moments of his career, to prove that Starwatch had been right all along on extraterrestrials, but alas the answer he was hoping to find had run off into the unknown, and it was most likely gone to the wind.

Woods seemed to be more crestfallen than his fellow Starwatch compatriot. His felt more of a personal loss than a professional one. The man had studied his whole life on the potential of otherworldly beings coming to Earth, and he had almost been granted the ultimate gift. It was quite disheartening how things changed last night. One moment they were on the verge of discovery, and the next they were back to square one. It would have changed everything they knew if what they suspected about the incoming object turned out to be all true.

"So we've got this unknown... thing, potentially an extraterrestrial starship, roaming around our airspace freely, and we have absolutely no idea of where it is, where it's going, or what it's doing here in the first place." Vassallo summarized as best he could of the situation he, Woods, and everyone else at Starwatch HQ was currently in. The agent pinched his tired eyes. He desperately needed some sleep ever since yesterday's events.

"It sure seems that way, sir. Hopefully something comes up with the shard we found now that Kim's been put in charge of that area." Woods said, finding a silver lining. After the object had disappeared last night and Starwatch desperately trying to find it again, Woods had pulled Ms. Smith aside for a personal request. Now that he had been re-assigned onto other projects, key research on the tiny metal sliver had been given to her as Smith's first major project as an internal member of Starwatch. The young scientist had been utterly ecstatic to hear the news and had practically rushed to the laboratories to start working as fast as she could. Woods admired her tenacity and her fervor for someone working in such a place as Starwatch.

"Always finding something to look forward to, Woods." Vassallo leaned back on his chair, stretching out his arms as he did. "Though I'm really not looking forward to sending the news to Washington. They'd probably see it as the last excuse to shut us down."

"After all we did? All the research we made, the progress we've made and the artifacts we found? I hardly believe that, sir. Starwatch has been through some rough times in the past before, and it's still kicking." Woods countered. He didn't like hearing his fellow agent, a good friend, sound so gloom. It didn't fit Vassallo.

"Well, let's hope Washington can see it the same way," Vassallo stood up from his chair and straightened his tie, "I'm off for today, Woods. I need a shower. Keep this place running smooth, would you? And call me if anything interesting happens with Kim."

"Of course, sir."

Royal Woods Elementary

"All I'm saying is that the Dark Princess didn't need to die at the final battle of the movie!"

"She had to, Rusty! Otherwise her sacrifice would've been for nothing and Muscle Fish wouldn't have won."

Lunchtime at school was uneventful, except for the ongoing argument between Rusty and Clyde over the finale for the Ace Savvy v. Muscle Fish movie they had seen some days ago. Sitting in between Liam and Clyde, Lincoln mostly kept to himself as he munched on his bologna and cheddar sandwich. His mind was on other things, but he did slightly listen to what his friends had to say. For someone as creative as he believed himself to be it was pretty interesting to hear about what each of his friends interpreted as a good ending for a comic book movie. Both of the boys had valid points that they brought up.

"But it's so cliché! Doesn't it get boring after a while when it happens in every sci-fi movie ever made?" Rusty incredulously asked, waving his macaroni-filled fork around and pointing it at Clyde.

"I mean, it works doesn't it? The heroine valiantly putting her life on the line to save her friends is practically a staple for sci-fi. It builds an emotional response to the overall story arcs." Clyde evenly responded, with Zach nodding in agreement.

"More like it completely bores them to death," Rusty mumbled, taking a bite out of his macaroni before he turned to ask the white-haired boy among them what his opinion would yield, "Say Lincoln, who do you think is right here? Me, who wants a happy ending? Or Clyde, who's fine with his dime-a-dozen lame sacrifice plays?"

"What?" Lincoln shot up, snapping out of his latest trance once he heard his name. He noticed that his friends were staring at him. "O-Oh, um... I don't really know."

"Geez Lincoln, are you alright?" Liam asked as he noticed Lincoln fumble a response. "It's like you're completely out of it this afternoon!"

"Yeah, what gives?" Stella wondered as well, eyeing her freckled friend. "You're usually the most talkative out of all of us when it comes to this movie stuff, but you haven't said a word. Is there something you want to talk about?"

"No, it's just-I was just thinking about some stuff. I was kinda spacing out for a little bit there, sorry about that." Lincoln was quick to make sure his friends knew that he was just lost in his own head. Truthfully, his thoughts were solely focused on his plan for testing out his superpowers without getting noticed by Lori, or anyone else in the family. The boy knew just how big of a risk he was taking, and more than that he would be breaking the promise that he and the rest of his siblings had made after they discovered the extent of their powers. It was a lot to take in, but Lincoln's growing desire to test the limits of his flight-based abilities was taking a stand.

He had to see what he was capable of, to see how far he could fly with his powers, because this was something he had dreamed of ever since he was a little tyke opening up his first graphic novel. These powers he held within him meant far more than just being able to fly like a jet. For Lincoln this was honoring the endless hours of reading comics and immersing himself in their worlds, and the boundless creativity that had inspired soon after.

"You've been spacing out all day, dude." Zach plainly said.

"I know, I know!" Lincoln replied as he finished his sandwich, swallowing the last bite. "Don't worry about me, guys. I'm good, totally honest."

"Whatever you say, Lincoln." Clyde shrugged, and the group of friends went back to eating. All besides Lincoln, who was still working on how to make his plan a reality.

...

Later that Evening...

"Goodnight everyone!" Lori shouted to the rest of her siblings, right before she closed her bedroom door. The day had gone on normally even when the sun went down and the moon started shining in the sky. It had been a good, normal day for everyone so far. Another day of successfully hiding their powers from the world, including their parents. Tomorrow would be the mid-week, and hopefully it would remain as uneventful as the last two days have been.

The moment the door clicked shut, Lori turned around and walked over to her bed, letting out a sigh as she sat down at the edge in front of her nightstand. There had been a twinge of guilt bubbling in her gut all day, ever since she had talked with her siblings over the issue of their powers. Especially Lincoln, who was the main subject regarding her dour emotions. She knew that she was only trying to keep them all safe, but she couldn't help but feel like a complete jerk after seeing how her brother reacted.

Perhaps talking with her roommate would help ease that sensation.

"Do you think I was too harsh on him today?" Lori asked as she looked on to Leni, who was busy typing away on her phone. Surrounding her was all kinds of stuffed and knitted creations made from old clothes, repurposed into cute little things all thanks to her powers. Seeing what Leni could do only served to pile on the guilt Lori felt.

"Who are you talking about?" Leni didn't realize that Lori was talking to her until she saw that her older sister was looking at her.

"Lincoln, Leni. I'm talking about Lincoln." Lori responded. "Y'know, when earlier I told everyone that they weren't allowed to use their power unless I allowed them to? I think Lincoln took it really hard. I mean, he's literally the biggest superhero fan I know, so of course he's curious about his own power. It's probably the best thing that happened to him and I feel like I crapped all over it. I just don't want anything to happen to him, or us for that matter."

"Oh Lori," Leni gushed, putting her phone down to face her disheartened sister directly, "Lincoln's a smart boy. He knows you're doing your best to keep us all safe."

"Yeah, but there's a part of me that's also nagging about how I could've been at least a little nicer. The last thing I need is Lincoln literally blowing our cover because I was being a complete bit... jerk to him." Lori almost caught herself swearing in front of Leni.

"So why don't you apologize? Go over and say you're sorry."

"Everyone's asleep, Leni."

"Not right now, silly! How about you tell him in the morning when everyone's getting ready for school? I'm sure Lincoln would be very happy about that." Leni offered, and Lori considered it. The fashionista's idea wasn't too out of the ordinary, and she knew that Lincoln would have to see her in the morning anyway. So while he might be resentful now, Lori knew that Lincoln wasn't spiteful. It wasn't like him to hold a grudge.

"That's not a bad idea, Leni. I'll apologize to him in the morning." Lori said, easing into her bed before she flipped the lamp switch off. "Thank you for listening to me. It really does help, especially with what's happened to us."

"Don't sweat it Lori." Leni replied as she turned over and snapped her sleep mask on. "Goodnight."

"Hm. Night."

...

Such an act of humility would have eased Lincoln's heart, but tonight the boy was attempting different matters other than sleeping. With one ear pressed up against the door he closely listened on to hear the last of his family turn to get some shut-eye. It was just the clue he needed. With his sisters and parents now asleep, Lincoln began to ready himself. He stripped out of his pajamas, donning his normal clothes and reached underneath his bed to pull out a cardboard box. Inside lay several comics, some of his favorite collector items, necessary for what he was about to do.

"I know what I'm doing is stupidly risky," he began to talk again to an unseen perspective, "and Lori would ground me for, well, forever if she found out. But I've got to do something! Lori can't keep me caged in like this. I have these powers for a reason, and it's time I found out just how far I can take them."

With that said Lincoln stuffed his open backpack with his comics, donned his shoes and floated upwards to the ovular window. He had snuck out before plenty of times, but not like this. Without the need for any rope he could make an escape without attracting too much attention. But he still pried the window open as slowly and quietly as possible. Once the fresh air of the nighttime sky breezed through, Lincoln knew he was in the clear.

"Alright then," Lincoln said to himself, air swiftly coursing around him as he felt his powers course through him, "Let's go see what my powers can do."

With his mission now ready, Lincoln took off into the moon-lit darkness above, unaware that his actions would come back to haunt him in the worst way possible...
