Chapter IIV
Wendy just stared at Stan now with a green mask and a pearly white smile that reached his bright blue eyes. Something about him seemed rather different than she knew. Normally Stan was moody and depressed. But now he was transformed with something that was quite opposite from The Stan Wendy knows from school. He looked more upbeat if not optimistic of seeing her. Usually he would get nervous around her by throwing up or arguing about stuff that bothered one of them. Now, he was more confident of seeing his girlfriend up close.
One question that Wendy had in mind was… Is Stan the green faced menace from the news? Or was it someone else since he looked rather different? He didn't have blonde hair nor the black and white vertical striped suit with a presentable red bow tie. Were there more than two? If so then who was that from the bank and restaurant?
"Such a beautiful night on a date like this, huh?" Stan asked with a french accent. Still leaning against the lamppost.
"Stan… what's gotten into you?" Wendy said with worry. Stepping back just a little afraid of what Stan might do.
"For I am...deeply, madly in love with the smartest and the most beautiful girl in school." Stan said with relish as zips closer to her which made Wendy even more startled. He took her hand and pressed his lips on the back. Wendy's hand instinctively jerked away. It felt tingly and warm that gave her goosebumps prickle down her arms. Since when did Stan get so romantic all of a sudden? Or better yet how he was able to come really fast in an inhuman way like something out of a cartoon?
"Stan, I hate to sound rude, but why is your face green?" Wendy asked uneasily. Stan raised one thin eyebrow with puzzled expression but still kept his wide grin in place.
"I do not understand what you mean, my beloved Wendy. Are you not feeling well?" Before Wendy could answer, Stan spun faster and faster until he stopped with an anti-climatic screeching halt. Now dressed as a doctor with a white lab coat with pockets of assortments of medical equipment and a stethoscope around his neck.
" at your service! Now what seems to be the problem Ms. Testaburger?" Stan said while summoning a clipboard straight out of nowhere.
How the hell did he do that? Wendy thought to herself, eyes wide in shock. Of all the crazy things she, Stan, and the rest of their classmates have seen and endured, this was by far the strangest thing Wendy had ever witnessed in her life. The next thing she knew there was a plastic curtain with metal hooks.
And a table for patients to sit on while they wait for their check-up ritual from their doctors.
"Hmm. I don't see what's wrong. But why don't we check your temperature? Say 'aah'." Stan stuck a thermometer underneath Wendy's tongue and for a few moments it beeped showing her temperature is 98.7 degrees.
"Temperature is normal..." Stan scribbled down on his clipboard, then put the stethoscope onto her chest to listen for any heartbeats. Her heartbeat sounded calm and settled, but this made Stan frown.
"Is something wrong?" Wendy asked confusedly.
"Why, yes Ms. Testaburger. There is indeed a problem with your heartbeat. It's not beating like crazy when you're in love."
"Beating like crazy?"
"Yes, like this." As said, Stan's heart sprang from his chest. It does this repeatedly for a few seconds rapidly. Wendy jumped back, eyes slightly wider than before. This was becoming more and more bizarre at every moment. All Wendy wanted to do was go back home or wake up from this weird dream she's in.
"This can't be real…" Wendy said slowly. Processing all this like this could be all in her head. She pinched herself just to make sure. Sure enough she felt the pain from the pinch…
"I'm afraid so, Ms. Testaburger. The only cure is...action." Stan jumped next to Wendy, tearing off his doctor outfit, underneath it was his first from his transformation.
"Stan wha-" Wendy but was cut off.
"Shh. Let's not let words ruin this. Let us kiss under the moonlight." Stan puckered his lips as Wendy slowly backed away, then turned to run from the direction she came from. Stan stayed put as he looked directly at...well you readers (even though you can't see for yourselves). "She plays hard to get, I like it!" As said, winking directly at you then takes off after Wendy.
Wendy ran through the park on the sidewalk, risking a glance to look back seeing if Stan was going to chase after her. Though he was, he wasn't going fast but rather hopping on all fours in a skipping like motion with a dreamy look on his face. Where has she seen this from somewhere? But she snapped out of her thoughts to focus on running back home. Only she bumped into Kenny, nearly half a block away from home.
"Kenny!" Wendy gasped for breath.
"You've got to help me there's something wrong with Stan and I think he's the green faced menace or one of them at least!"
Kenny processed every word of Wendy's explanation, realizing what was happening. Stan had the Mask on. He couldn't tell Wendy right away, now that Stan finally caught up standing on his feet.
Damn it, Stan! Why did I give the Mask to him in the first place? Kenny thought hopelessly. He had to think fast before the situation escalated any further.
"Bonjour Kenny." Stan greeted while bowing his head low.
"I'm just enjoying a romantic night with mi amor. So if you please…"
"Stan, please. You're acting strange. Why are you doing this?" Wendy's voice cracked without being intentional. This new Stan was sending chills down her spine and not a good kind of way. She wanted the old Stan back, even though he wasn't the romantic type. Plus, the break-ups were put aside to start anew. But this...this was too much.
"Kenny.." Wendy looked at Kenny with desparte eyes, hoping he would help.
"Uh, yes. Wendy. I was sent here from your...parents that it's past your curfew."
Stan laughed as if it sounded like a joke. Kenny's acting wasn't going to fool him.
" I see what's going on, you're trying to take my girl for yourself. Well then." Stan spinned like a top after being from someone's fingertips then his outfit changed yet again. This time in protection gear for fencing.
"On guard, Kenneth! For we shall duel for Wendy's love!" Stan proclaimed while aiming his fencing sword towards. As he poked nothing but air, missing Kenny as he dodged each strike. Now it was his turn as Wendy followed pursuit.
