Kyle stared at Mask, wondering if he was just hearing things. But no, The Mask was literally talking to him though it's mouth did not move.

Kyle…I can give you so much power.

"What the hell do you want?!" Kyle asked, though not out loud. Fearing his parents or his little brother Ike may pop in unexpectedly hearing what he said.

I want you to wear me, so we can be one.

Startled, Kyle got up from his seat. Did the Mask just move closer to him by itself? Or was it his imagination? He didn't want to wear it, after knowing what it does to people. Sure having godlike if not cartoon-like powers may seem cool and all, but rather risky. Kenny nearly has been caught, not once but twice. Even recently with Stan. Kyle wasn't going to be next in line for that. Neither will anyone else who comes across it, especially to Cartman.

"Why should I? You've caused enough trouble for my friends as it is." This time Kyle did say it aloud but then realized how strange it sounded. Didn't they part ways after all the disagreements and secrets they kept from each other? It felt more like a break than a break-up ever since Kenny found this Mask by the river. By that, it brought the four of them closer like pieces of metal attracting a strong magnet. The Mask is the magnet to all this, not only for the boys but of course trouble. Kyle snapped out of his thoughts, coming back to the present in his room.

But I can help you, Kyle. I'm like a genie, I help those to grant their wishes, their inner most desires they want to fulfill. I brought you and your friends back, didn't I?

Kyle was silent for a moment, it wasn't wrong. Though he couldn't help feeling creeped out as if the Mask could read his thoughts.

I will make your wishes and desires into reality. I don't always cause havoc as you think I do. I helped a man get the love of his life and help him become a hero. I could even do the same for you Kyle. To have a second chance with…Rebecca.

"What about her?" By this Kyle felt more alarmed than ever. Which Rebecca was it talking about? It couldn't possibly be talking about…Rebecca Cotswolds, could it? It had been so long since he saw her after what happened years at the dance. Rebecca was homeschooled, having no interest in the outside world. That was until Kyle came along to convince her that the outside wasn't as bad, though this gave Rebecca the wrong idea when she showed up to the dance. Meeting with other boys. Her brother Mark became furious at the sudden realization causing to lash out at Kyle in the process. Since then Kyle hasn't seen Rebcca as if she just moved away or something like that. But now?

How did the mask even know who she was?

As if reading his thoughts the Mask responded with,

I have a feeling that I will needed soon-

"No, forget it! It's not going to happen! You hear me?" Kyle growled, putting the Mask inside his desk drawer and shutting it with a dramatic slam! He exhaled sharply, feeling he could finally breathe.

Meanwhile…

Maraline was nervous to start her new school at South Park elementary tomorrow. Worried that kids her age and grade won't like her as much like the ones from her old school at Edge City. Though she had made a few friends now that she wanted here but that couldn't be possible. But at least she can call them from her cellphone to make her feel less lonely.

"Stanley, what's wrong?" Her mom asks from the living room. Maraline turned her head to her slightly cracked door exposing very little light inside the hallway.

"It's the Mask. Some kid has it. I heard from people in town talking about it, Tina."

"Stanley, I don't understand." There was silence, Maraline waited for what either her parents had to say next. What Mask were they talking about? She was told by her father how he met her mother and hinted that a 'certain' mask made it all happen. Maraline was puzzled until her father said…

"There were reports about green-faced kids that have cartoon-like powers running rampant at night. Do you think that sounds vaguely familiar to you?"

"You know now that you mentioned it, does Stanley but how did-" Her mom stopped herself. At this,Maraline's eyes widened in shock at the absurdity her parents were talking about. Their conversation took a strange turn.

"I'm such an idiot for throwing in the waters in the first place! Now it's happening all over again."

"Stanley," Her mom said gently.

"Don't blame yourself, we will find it eventually and figure out what to do with it."

Soon the conversation became more settled, though it really didn't make sense to Maraline. Come to think of it, their neighbor's daughter had questioned if her father came from Edge City. It sounded as if she knew something, wanting to say more but didn't want it to be suspicious. Perhaps Wendy knows this supposed Mask her parents were discussing about, something Maraline needed answers to find about. But that will have to wait until morning by chance meeting with Wendy to ask her a few questions.

Tuesday morning at South Park elementary…

The four boys were walking down the hall together, Cartman still angry with Kenny for giving Kyle The Mask to do more research on. Though at times they had to be careful talking about it in public. Who knows who could be listening?

Once the hallway seemed partially empty, it was safe enough to talk openly.

"Have you found out anything yet?" Stan asked beside Kyle while he opened his locker to get his books class.

"No, But I think it might be alive. Either it's possessed or something." Kyle admitted.

"Possesed?" Cartman asked, puzzled.

"Yeah, it spoke to me last night. It wants me to wear it to "help me" get in touch with Rebecca." Kyle rolled his eyes. Then I looked at the three with quizzical looks on their faces.

"Rebecca Cotswold? From the spelling bee a while ago?"

Still, the three looked at him with their eyebrows raised.

"I took her to the dance…She's Mark's sister?!"

"Oh…" Now they understood.

"Why would it say that?" Kenny asked. Kyle slammed though not meaning it to head to class. Maybe to take his mind off of this nonsense for a little while, that was until he saw a familiar face. At first Kyle thought it was some hallucination or something. But no, it was the same girl he met and never thought to be seen again. There she was walking down the hallway, clutching a couple of textbooks in her arms.

Rebecca..but how?

"Dude? Dude!" Stan called, making Kyle snap back to reality. He quickly turned away before Rebecca caught him staring. How did the Mask know? Could it predict the future? After all, it did belong to a god. So it could have unlimited power of anything…or it was probably messing with Kyle's head. Well, it wasn't convincing enough to get him sucked in to be controlled. He wouldn't let it happen…not yet. Cartman smiles to himself, for there was something happening to Kyle will give in whether he likes it or not. Tonight, when the time is right, he will finally have a go with Mask and wield the mighty powers of a god. In class, there was a new girl, Wendy's neighbor Maraline Ipkiss. With her dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes, she looked a little timid but was kind.

During recess, Maraline managed to find Wendy asking how she knew about her Dad and where he came from. Wendy seemed reluctant to answer, but why?

"Wendy, it's okay I won't tell. I just need to know what's going on."

Wendy signed and gave in.

"My friends and I found this Mask and it holds some sort of power whoever wears it. One of them did research and saw your father's name of the event that happened back then."

Maraline's eyes lit up. Finally she was getting somewhere. So this Mask has some sort of power only for the wearer to use. Was it the same one her father and mother mentioned last night?

"Does one of your friends still have it?"

"Yes, but we cannot risk telling people about it unless we can dispose of it properly."

There was more that Maraline wanted, but was cut off by the lunch bell. The discussion was over, but there's more answers she needed to process this. Was this Mask evil? What happens to those who wear it? Do they become evil? She had to know for sure which one of Wendy's friends had it.
